The food and service is always fantastic! Servers are excellent. My beef is with some of the changes made since Reno's were done: message on door outside suggesting during peak hours you keep your stay short. Am wondering what kind of message that sends to visitors from out of town. The split fee charged unless you get a salad and the fee is waived?? The third issue is the different lunch menu for over 8 people where they've taken some of the grill options out. The rationale given to us was they didn't want us using all of the grills ?? Really nice experience at Mary's Bleue Moon Cafe. We went for dinner with friends and we really enjoyed the food and the ambiance. The portions were huge, the food was delicious, and the service was top notch. We will definitely be back. We needed to find a place on our way up to the Ferry terminal at Swartz Bay. We ended up here after seeing pretty decent reviews. All of the food we had was pretty good. What an amazing place! The food, the menu the service, and the location were awesome. I had a hard time selecting what to order. The choices were all incredible, and they had so many great choices. This restaurant is in the middle of nowhere in a cute homey unit . . It's like the neighborhood pub with live music! The food and service were amazing!!! We had the seafood quesadilla and quiche. . My in laws had the Reuben and seafood chowder . . All were delicious!! All the patrons seem to be regulars as they were a lot of hugs and kisses as they left. . Such a homey feel!! The food is amazing, unfortunately we went on a Monday. The server we had only works 1 day a week and a total train wreck. If you wanted service from her you had to ask someone else to get her. She did not have many tables to begin with so service should have been better. We enjoy going to Mary's, but now I would prefer to spend my money on restaurants with trained staff. My boys took me out to a great spot to eat while I was visiting them in Victoria, BC. The building resembles a small cottage and it is located just east of the airport on Canora Rd in Sidney, BC. We got a table at the back of the restaurant right away. There was one cheery waitress taking care of all the tables. She was so friendly and happy and very quick to serve us. We put in our drink orders and looked at the menu. The boys all decided to try the fish and chip special and I ordered the Reuben on rye. The portions were nice and big. The fish and chips came with a side of tasty coleslaw, a lemon wedge and some tartar sauce. The Reuben came on a dark rye and was filled with Montreal smoked meat, sauerkraut and cheese. It was delicious! The walls of the restaurant are filled with newspaper stories, photos of wartime pilots and their crew. Back in the day when this place opened it was within walking distance from the Air Force base around Pat Bay. There is a daily special throughout the week. There is live entertainment Saturday nights. Can't wait to go back on my next visit. read more

I go here regularly. Its a very comfortable and interesting place. For dinner, I have really enjoyed their Classic Burger and fries. The fries are better than the ones you usually get. Also, their Coconut Lime Curry (with added shrimp) is great. I also love their breakfasts. Great bacon! and really good portions. Not the paper thin bacon, either. And their coffee's good too. Comfort food on the Peninsula . . . . It's been here "forever", and consistently delivers a large menu of appys, sandwiches and entrees. I had the lasagna and salad last Tuesday, as it was $3 off any pasta dish night. So for just over $11 I got a large bake dish of lasagna, loaded with cheese, and chose a side salad with balsamic and oil. Came with garlic toast. Good value; It was delicious and hearty. The only thing I would change is more tomato sauce and less fennel seed. But, not that I needed the change. My partners who chose the halibut and chips enjoyed them, but Ron said the fish was dry. I tasted the fries and they were fresh fried, crisp. Over the years it's been a great choice for breakfast, lunch or dinner, you know what to expect by the extensive menu, and the service is friendly and attentive. Portions are always generous. I have been to Mary's many times but this review is based only on my last visit as it had been about 8 years. I always thought that I could count on this place for a reliably tasty meal and an overall good experience. Until now.... We went for a late lunch in the fall. There was maybe 3 other tables so we expected fast service..... Or not. We got water and menus quickly and then we waited. And waited and waited. It was over 20 minutes before we were able to place our order. Though the food came out in an average amount of time, half of it was ice cold. I had an oyster burger with fries and the oysters used were VERY strong. Strong to the point that they were mostly inedible (and I have been eating oysters since I was a young child and know what they should taste like). The fries had no warmth left at all. I would have mentioned it had anyone come to ask how we were doing. Hopefully it was an off day because I would like to go Again when I am in the area. read more

My wife, sister and I were on doing a day trip from Vancouver to Victoria Island and while on the ferry to the Island a guy in the row in front of us recommended we try Mary's Blue Moon. He said that it would not look like much outside, but that we would love the food and atmosphere. He was absolutely right on the food and atmosphere, but we think that he was overly critical of the exterior, it looked like many other small town diners. As for the food, everything from start to finish was outstanding. I had sausage and eggs, both were farm fresh and delicious. My sister had eggs and bacon, my wife a scramble and both praised how great they tasted. We all had multigrain toast and marmalade that were clearly fresh from the bakery that morning. But the food was not the greatest joy of Mary's Bleue Moon, our server Daniel was a treasure. He told us that he had worked there for 25 years because he loved the place and the work and it definitely showed. His sense of humor was delightful and his advice on the food was perfect (by the way...if you truly love hollandaise...stay away from the Eggs Benedict). He quizzed us on what we hoped to see in on the Island and shared with us what was worthwhile and what to avoid. As we were leaving, he came out to the parking lot with us to show us a more scenic route to Victoria. All his advice on the Island was as impeccable as that on the food. This place and Daniel is a treasure for Sidney, a little off the beaten path but worth finding. I don't know when we will be returning to Victoria Island, possibly never, but if we do, I know where we will have breakfast again. read more

Mary's is often over looked as it is off the beaten track. The food there is always stellar. You are warmly greeted and welcomed. My friend and I both enjoyed the Mediterranean Chicken wrap ($13.59) for lunch with fries. The food was promptly served and fries piping hot. Our waitress was a lot of fun - great sense of humor and suggestions on our lunch. Dessert was an amazing caramel pecan pie ($5.50) that was warmed with REAL whip cream. Mary's fills up quickly so always check for a reservation if you want to be guaranteed a spot. We sat out on the indoor covered deck area which is always nice. Sidney has an abundance of good places to eat so we went to Mary's expecting it to be really, no better, no worse than all the other good ones and were not disappointed. We had a very minor, at least minor to us, server issue that did not detract from the overall good experience but did prevent me from giving it five stars right away. An email and immediate response from Nicola outlining a great plan of action was good enough for me.
