You're going there for the solid rib sticking food that will make you want to come back again. There is no pretense here, just straight forward what you see is what you get. Ryan M took great care of us while there, we backed for nothing. That said he has a personality, which we love, no shrinking violet here. My traditional bennie was good, with house cooked ham, eggs exactly as I asked for and potatoes shaped differently than you typically see. They were great for mopping up the leftovers. Solid diner with eclectic decor and interesting menus items. Had breakfast here on a Saturday this month. Friend got a custom omelette for $21.95, and I had the Herb Hudson Benedict for $23.95. Their POS system had issues. It rejected multiple cards before the waitress thought to use a different machine, then there weren't any problems. They have a breakfast item called Laban that includes 6 strips of bacon, a shot of Jack and a beer but you get a 50% discount if that's your name. read more

2024-08-28 1400 hrs Stop in at Floyd's in Langford for a late lunch. The lunch rush was finished by the time we arrived at 2 pm. No problem getting a booth or table. Both my wife and I had the beef dip and it was excellent! I don't know what type of bun they use, but it was nice and soft, soaked up the au juc beautifully. The fries are on another level! A large helping of seasoned fries accompanied the beef dip. I highly recommend Floyd's for lunch. Meal for 2 was $50 including tip. We'll be back. 2012-04-01 (previous review) My wife and I went to Floyds for breakfast, showed up at around 8:30 am. Place was starting to fill up. If we had of showed up in another 15 minutes, we would have been caught in a line. Atmosphere is quirky, comfortable and laid back. I had the special which was a seafood Benedict which came with potato chunks. The Benny was excellent with the exception of the potatoes. The potatoes were baked or deep fried with some green onion sprinkled on top and very bland. Not impressed! My wife had the EASY RIDER OMELETTE. Again, it came with the same bland, boring potatoes. The omelette was spicy, very excellent and of good proportion. We both left completely stuffed. With bottomless coffee (excellent flavour), plus 15% tip, the meal came to $39.50 for 2 people. For the price of the meal, I would expect true down home skillet hash brown potatoes, not that. boring excuse they serve. Expect a bit of a wait, or snag some bar seats. Of course, the go-to at Floyd's is the Mahoney. There's a breakfast and lunch version, and the creations can be pretty out there. It's a bit pricey at $17, but the portion size is quite generous. If you're feeling lucky, ask to "flip" for your meal. You'll have a chance to flip a coin and guess heads/tails. Should you guess correctly, it's removed from your tab. Should you get it wrong, you pay double. My go-to order -- no matter the time -- is the 420 Benny. Lox, baby arugula, cream cheese, hollandaise, hold the fried capers. Absolutely delicious. The 420 Benny is $17, too. The portions here are huge by default, so I tend to take some leftovers home. They also have drinks with Kahlua in them. I only recently tried one, but I was hooked. I will definitely order it again. read more

Stopped in for breakfast. Their menu online was intriguing and we remember seeing a YouTube video mentioning the diner. Just reading the menu should make a person smile, if not laugh, with the humor it includes. I had "Frankie's fruit" with yogurt and honey and it hit the spot. The light drizzle of honey on the yogurt was just enough to take the edge off the sourness, but didn't make it "sweet" in a pronounced way. My honey had the "Listen to me while I'm talking' to ya'-- eggs, bacon, Floyd's potatoes and toast. The thick sourdough toast slices had a nice tang to them. Bacon was delicious and jumbo eggs cooked to order. Floyd's potatoes are cut into 1/4" thick slices and deep fried to a light brown, so close to like having fries for breakfast -- one of my honey's favorite foods. Listening to the staff interact with patrons was fun and it was obvious that there were a lot of locals who frequent the restaurant. Even when I received plate told waitress this it cornbeef she didnt even take it back to the kitchen or ask if I wanted something else. Floyd's Diner is the only place I've ever been to where I've order a breakfast I couldn't finish. I mean the amount of food I got with their "BC Hash" was enough for me to take home and have for lunch later on that day. I've been to this location over a dozen times and each time I leave completely stuffed because these guys do not skimp on the amount of food they put on your plate. Their staff have always been extremely friendly (not to mention extremely efficient in making sure your coffee cup remains full). A fine place for breakfast with a very creative menu. I had the BC Hash, which was very good. My companion had the Roasted Yam and Squash Bowl which he enjoyed very much. The portions are very large, allowing one to get a second meal out of it. The breakfast menu is idiosyncratic, with less flexibility in constructing a breakfast than your reviewer is accustomed to. I paid $32.00 for an omelette, toast, some overcooked tomatoes and a coffee. Not worth it. No one even attempted the hasbrowns as they were so cold. The interior is very much a Hotel Zed with each wall a different funky colour and lots of seating but expect a wait on the weekends from what I was told and our experience.
