I am a longtime diner at Floyd's Diner, even prior to the expansion of locations. There is ample parking at the Royal Oak location, as the restaurant is in the shopping plaza. One thing that has stayed consistent over the years is the large portion sizes. The prices have gone up with time, understandably given inflation, making an eggs benedict cost over $20. This time, we ordered the 420 Benny, and the BC Hash. I have noticed that the quality of food has gone down a bit in the last year or two, but the service has always been exemplary. read more

I heard of this restaurant through a YouTube video I was watching about places to go in Victoria. The location that was mentioned in the video is no longer around so we came to this location instead. We were seated fast and served very quickly. I ordered a strawberry lemonade which was mid in my opinion. For food, I ordered the apple pie French toast which came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top and a side of bacon, this was insanely good. It made me very full afterwards. My wife ordered the omelette and had bacon chunks, garlic, Swiss cheese, and hollandais. I took a few bites of her omelette and it had big chunks of garlic in it, which were very soft when you bit into it. Unfortunately, I think they forgot the hollandaise because we could not taste it in the omelette, we didn't say anything because the omelette was so good. She also had potatoes and sourdough bread that came with it and she had a side of bacon also. The potatoes were very good, I found myself taking a few off of her plate when she wasn't looking. I highly recommend coming to any of these locations, I imagine the food tastes good, no matter which location you visit. I'll definitely be returning to any of these locations. Stayed at the hotel where the Floyd's Diner resides. Ate there 2 time and had Eric as our server both times. What a dude! He got us in fast, seperated bills where needed, and just was an all around nice guy! So Service was 5 stars! And food was great! Loved the smash burger and the traditional Benny. For breakfast we ordered the McFarland and a 4 whole egg omelet. The McFarland disappeared fairly quickly, did not get a chance to check out except for hearing the word 'great'. Given the option on the omelet to have whole egg or white only--never been offered that choice. Took the whole egg option and picking out 4 items from a list of about 30: bacon, avocado, bree and capers. The side of potato were some of the best ever, good flavor and texture in cube shape. Whole wheat artisan bread was excellent. Endless cups of good coffee served. Service by Devon was great, professional, efficient and friendly. The diner was clean and spaced nicely, clean washrooms. We took the 8:30 ferry from Port Angeles to Victoria and ended up sitting with a couple from Victoria. They were very friendly so I took the opportunity to ask for a breakfast recommendation. They told us that Floyd's is the local favorite and that there a few locations. We found this on one our route to Butchart Gardens and knew we had to stop. It was great!! Brie, our server, was super friendly and even recommended some other places for us to visit during our stay in Victoria. The food was excellent! I wish I had a Floyd's where I live. Floyd's Diner is a breakfast staple in Victoria. They have ample of parking spots which is greatly appreciated. Excellent service was provided by the host! Love the ambiance as well. Cute spot! Right up there with the best breakfast I've ever had! The food was amazing, and the staff were so personable. A wonderful brunch spot. Great breakfast hash with lots of bacon and sausage mixed in. Excellent sourdough toast! Heavenly milkshake!! There was a huge menu with lots of other options too - bennies, pancakes/brioche French toast/crepes, burgers and sandwiches, and lots of non-alcoholic and some alcoholic drinks. We went here for the first time. It was a 15 minutes wait which was fine. It was a beautiful sunny day so waited outside. I had a Brie and onion jam chicken burger and shared a strawberry shake with husband. It was really good. My daughter had the Mahoney breakfast which had 3 eggs Benedict's with chicken and chorizo and a ton of home cut potato slices fried in a sweet and zesty sauce. It was a lot of food! The wait here could get crazy and they don't provide estimated wait times over the phone! You can see why the wait might be long because the food is good! We came early-ish at about 9am on Labor Day and there was no wait. The server was friendly and assured us that there was nothing funny in the 420 Benny because they don't have that kind of license My husband enjoyed the 420 Benny, and the omelette I ordered certainly felt more like 5-6 eggs even though the menu said 4 eggs! So the portion sizes are definitely worth it for the price (I didn't finish my omelette but kept it for a later snack). We were too picky and risk averse to try the Mahoney, but during our meal there, we witnessed 3 other patrons trying out the coin flip and all 3 off them won and didn't have to pay for their meal! My go to is always a Breakfast Mahoney. I love the suprise of seeing what the kitchen creates, and it's different everytime! Been going to various locations of Floyd's for several years now. Always been satisfied with the food and service. Until today. This time when at the Keating location for breakfast, we found the food not particularly good and service quite lacking. As an example, their Lumberjack dish at $22! was almost inedible. The large pancakes were dry with overcooked bottoms, fried potatoes were like yesterday's heated up, bacon tasteless and tough, and sausages yukky. Eggs were passable but still not well prepared. Where was their "cook"? Although friendly, the server had problems remembering our order and thus delivered our food incorrectly. This was addressed with an offer to redo the order(s). But like I said the food was poor anyway, so we just finished what we could then skedaddled. With today's hyper inflation, overhead and supply problems, we can understand the high prices and such. But these days where every dollar spent has been hard-earned, the lackadaisical attitude and sub-par food-prep coupled with the almost mandatory tip (15+%) certainly adds insult to this customer's wallet and patience. Sad to say, it will be a very long time before we will chance another visit to Floyd's. read more

Took our grandkids to Floyd's for lunch and had the most fabulous meal! The kids had the children's menu chicken strips and fries. The chicken was wonderful! Fresh roasted, succulent, perfectly breaded and seasoned! Even the picky eater loved it and ate everything! My hubby's clubhouse had some of the same fresh roasted chicken and he said it the best sandwich he's eaten in years! The service was very good and our server was lovely! I went there for the first time and received amazing service and the food was great. The reason for my lack of 5 stars was that my allergies started acting up with the amount of dust in this restaurant. The shelf unit with the coffee pots and napkins was not clean. Behind the seats of the booth was also neglected. The tops of frames and borders at lower levels were so full of dust that fingerprints were visible. And to top it off one of the staff left a cleaning bottle and cloth on top of the shelf where the coffee cups, coffee pot, and clean utensils are. I think the owner should either have their staff clean their section after their shift or hire someone specifically to do just that. It was my first visit to Floyd's on West Saanich/Keating and I waited 45 minutes to get in, which I was ok with. We were given water, coffee & orange juice promptly when we were seated... then we waited well over an hour to get our food. It was barely warm when it arrived but after nearly 2 hours we were ready to eat anything... I felt really bad for other guests with children. The servers were doing their best but sadly the kitchen staff isn't up to the demand. I won't be going back. I think this is normal for Floyd's... too bad. read more

I had breakfast at Floyd's this morning at the request of my elderly mother who said it would be a good place to go. Sadly we were all a little more than disappointed by the experience. We arrived at about 10:20 and were told "20 Minutes" but didn't actually sit till after 11am. If we'd known it was going to be that long of a wait we most certainly would have left and tried another time. When we were finally seated and the server came and took our orders, I mentioned that the extra long wait had now added some time pressure and could she see if she could rush our meal. She said "we're busy and understaffed, i'll try but it's going to be 30 minutes for your breakfast" 40 minutes later breakfast came, and if to add insult to injury none of our meals were hot. They had obviously seen sitting in the window for a while. There was no use in complaining, as it would have made this extraordinarily long breakfast even longer. I will say that the food tasted good, but the overall experience really took away from it. Sorry Floyd's I had way higher expectations. read more

Pretty brutal. I don't know if staffing and quality control have been thrown off due to COVID, but I would avoid this location and go to the others. After being seated we had coffee that was basically hot water, and were then abandoned for 45 minutes while we waited for our food order. The order eventually came, and everything was ice cold. The yam hash had completely raw yams as well. On top of this, we were charged an additional 4% "fee" to help the business during COVID times, which I am totally fine with if the food is even somewhat good.
