Pancho Breakfast Sandwich

Found this gem on Yelp and couldn't have been more pleased. Fresh ingredients, bakery bread, and friendly atmosphere/service. We both had the Poncho Breakfast sandwich on multi-grain bread, it was healthy and delicious!!!

Looking for a quick snack? Panchos was great for a little cafe meal! I got the mix which included a half sandwich and soup. My wife got the trio which was the same with a salad ! Overall is was a nice experience! Staff seemed super nice and the food was quite refreshing ! 4/5 would highly recommend!

Quaint little cafe in Goldstream village, staff is lovely, friendly and very helpful. Library next door adds a lovely touch. Delicious housemade sandwiches, some gluten free treats available. Great coffee, espresso and a wonderful tea selection!!

BEST COFFEE EVER!! So happy to have stopped by here as I am visiting from out of town... Great prices and options as you can do half a sammie with soup or full sandwich etc. The butternut squash w/ coconut milk, mushroom and tomato quinoa soup are all amazing small size = $4.95! So many different sizes that are more than fairly priced for their hot brewed drinks, the house coffee is absolutely amazing so rich (in my opinion). They also have tasty complimentary water :) Highly recommend stopping here!

Best Breakfast Sandwhich ever! It's only $7 and it's sooooo filling. It gets two eggs, tomato, cheese, springmix, honey ham or avocado and sundried tomato aoli, with or choice of bread, bagel or croissant. If a sandwhich like this was on a restaurant menu, it would probably be $15 dollars or something. So reasonably priced, filling and absolutely delicious. And that's only the sandwhich...this cafe has such an array of food choices. Anyone could find somethig they enjoy to eat here!+

This place was great. Very fresh. I had the egg salad sandwich and a cup of soup. Could not have been happier.

This tiny cafe in the middle of seemingly nowhere is a must-try! We had booked a cabin nearby and…read morewere recommended this spot with their homemade pies. After a hike, we came for burgers! I had the chickpea burger, which fell apart as soon as you held it (but the bun was delicious). The truffle parm fries upgrade was 1000% worth it. My partner had the whirly burger with clam chowder (which she said was local but not made in house). Both were yum! The clam chowder was perfectly creamy (not chunky if that's more your speed) but had little clams. The blackberry pie (not pictured because we ate too fast) was also so sweet and had the best crust! Service was kind and helpful when asked. You order at the bar and then clean up after yourself. There is a lot of seating inside and outside (under cover, as well). After we were done, we walked the grounds to find some chickens and emu!

I like that you order with the cashier and they deliver the food to your table, so it's like partial food service. This is great for people coming in groups so you don't have to worry about splitting the bill. I ordered a grilled cheese with cheddar, and egg added inside. I do wish the cheese was a little more melted, but the bread was perfectly crispy and soft. For my side I chose the tomato bisque, which was pretty creamy and lacked a strong, tangy tomato flavor. I would skip the tomato soup next time and opt for a different side. The sweet potato fries were DELICIOUS, they were so crispy on the outside and not soggy. I do wish they had different sizes for the sides, because the full order of sweet potato fries is huge and a little excessive if you're already ordering an entree that come with a side. There is an extra charge for ranch dipping. My friends were all happy with their food. There is a bathroom that also brings you to free roaming chicken! I do want to come back to try their ice cream and pies!!!

I was originally hesitant on visiting Duo Cafe Bakery since it's located inside a hotel and I…read morefigured it would be a typical food service-esque bakery. Then I read the reviews - the best croissants (or at least in the top two) in Victoria? Of course I had to give them a try before riding the ferry back out to the US. Bacon Cheddar Chive Scone ($6.50) - Woah so much filling in this scone. Many other scones and biscuits promise big flavor but disappoint with only a smallest imaginable amount of non-carbs added. This one, on the other hand, must have more bacon, cheddar, and chive than flour on the ingredients list. It's literally chock filled, no bite goes through with an entire mouthful of the flavorful combination of cheesy, salty and meaty bacon and fresh chive. It's all evenly distributed throughout, ensuring a consistent flavor with each bite. The cheese are small flecks inside rather than larger pools of cheese. The scone dough itself is also excellent, being extremely moist and fluffy on the interior while developing a great hard crust on the exterior. I believe they also sprinkle grated cheese on the outside of the scone which is caramelized into a speckled pattern while baking to give even more oomph. (5/5) Twice Baked Chocolate Almond Croissant ($7.25) - The chocolate is confined to one side of this excellent twice baked croissant. They spare no expensive, melting an entire layer of valrhona chocolate in a pocket on the bottom, and then slather the entire thing with several layers of an excellent sweet almond frangipane. The double bake gives a shatteringly crisp texture that makes me want more. I normally prefer traditional almond croissants but this one is excellent. I think I actually prefer this one over the more famous one from Bakery Noveau in Seattle. (5/5) It's almost impossible to determine actual croissant lamination technique and quality from a twice baked croissant, but on this visit, we wanted something a bit more decadent to tide us over until we arrived back in Port Angeles for a late lunch. I'll definitely be returning to Duo Café Bakery next time I'm in Victoria to give their regular croissants a try!
