Our group had a little bit of everything and all was good. I definitely recommend here for breakfast! It is a small place but they are very efficient. Probably the best thing I had were the potatoes. I do love how they smash and fry them so there are crispy bits. The bacon was really good too! The only real negative is everything needed salt and I am not usually a salt person but dang! Try it if you are in the area and able to wait.

We ordered Deluxe Beef Burger ($18.50), Clubhouse Sandwich ($16), Chicken Strips ($15.50) and a can of Coke ($3). All the food had a heart portion. They were freshly made and fries were perfectly done. We had our food with fries which also can be substituted for salad or soup. Everything was delicious. Portion was bigger than I thought it would be. Chicken strips were crispy and tender. Deluxe Burger was amazing it was loaded with different toppings including mushrooms. Clubhouse was pretty good as well. There were so much fries. We could eat fries endlessly while tummies feeling full. This restaurant really IS a hidden gem in Sidney. I'll remember to stop by again on my future visits to Victoria.

I sure don't know who the folks are that lavish praise here because our experience certainly fell short of those kudos. To be fair, the wait time was tolerable and service was ok. But that's where our kudos end. It all then comes down to the food offering! Everything starts with a cup of joe, and the beverage they served was bitter and terrible (hello, Starbucks). We then changed to decaf, and unfortunately that tasted of residual pot cleaner with a hint of some form of coffee. Egad. Aside from its mediocre taste, the main dish was also a disappointment: the so-called Traditional Benny with .95 cent shredded potato option. Found it difficult to cut then chew through the muffin base, and the few bacon hunks that were hiding just under the egg and hollandaise sauce were as tough as genuine shoe leather. To add 'insult to injury', the shredded potatoes lacked any sort of taste (other than chopped straw) -- typical of inexpensive (reheated) frozen side-foods. To top it all off, while paying the bill they scattered a few hunks of packaged bubble gum onto the table. Meh, that was barely edible too. I think we were at our table for maybe 1/2 hour and could hardly wait to leave. At $50+ for barely edible food, we can't see ourselves returning to five and dime.

Our waitress came to the table, we told her we only had about 1/2 hour to eat, and we ordered a beer (bottled, they were our of draft beers) and one bowl of chowder. We waited. And waited . The beer arrived (very nice Kokanee lager). We drank the beer, and waited. We finally had to leave without the chowder. I don't know if it was tasty. Seriously: how long does it take to get a ladle, and pour the chowder into a bowl?

I'm updating my review to reflect on my 2nd visit to this establishment…read more I popped by on my way home and the special was the cod and chips for $19.99. I decided to give this a try and my god, it was bloody horrible. The batter was so heavy and soggy, the plate had tons of grease compiled into a puddle. There was very little cod inside the batter and their tartar sauce was just garlic mayo... Really really disappointing visit today. I don't see myself returning anytime soon because the food was just terrible. Kaley/Kacey, my servier, was a bundle of energy and lovely, I just wish she came to check up on me before you noticed I had thrown my napkin into my food as a sign I was done. Also, the Spitfire desperately needs a good clean, it's quite dirty on the inside and out. Original Review from October 2025. This place has been on my raider for awhile to try and since moving close to the establishment recently I decided to give it a try. The outside is nothing to write home about, neither is the inside... But I'm not coming here for the decor; I came for the food and my god did the food ever represent. I ordered the Philly Beef Dip and it was just delicious - every morsel of it. The service was lovely, I'm not sure why there are negative reviews saying otherwise. Ginny, my server, was attentive, kind and extremely helpful. I can't wait to go back and try theI Sunday roast dinner and more of their menu. It's a down-home cooked establishment and the food and service reflects this! Cheers to an amazing first visit!

An absolute must, served warm with a fragrant and flavourful olive oil. The olives are so simple yet the chef adds a ton of behind the scenes flavours (think, marinating in a bunch of complimentary flavours). I ordered the vegan and GF dal one night! Huge portions with fresh shaved vegetables and a generous serving of lentils. A hearty and comforting meal that packs a ton for protein. I was utterly stuffed for hours after this meal. Next night, I ordered the vegan and GF pizza (no fake cheese, just a ton of partnered vegetables, herbs, and pine nuts). I loved this dish. Again, huge servings and a ton of delicate touches. The roasted squash added such a lovely texture and the dill and pine nuts were an excellent choice. We also got the salad, which was anything but basic. Pine nuts and herbs and a sweet, savoury dressing. It was all super excellent. Thank you for making our island experience truly remarkable!

Easily one of the most popular spots on Vancouver Island…read more The sun peaked out in January and everyone and their mom visited Shirley Delicious Cafe. To be honest, I completely understand why. This cafe is a step above the rest. The inside is cozy, with a cabin-esque vibe and clear ceilings in their dining room for an indoor-outdoor feel. Despite the line of 20+ people, Shirley Delicious worked like a well oiled machine. Their menu included breakfast, lunch, and even a flight of soup (which I so desperately wanted). I ordered their date pastry, a hot caramel latte, and breakfast sandwich with avo. Each item was absolutely delicious. This is also a great location to shop for island goodies. Their storefront is filled with jams, sauces, metal working artwork, etc. Can't believe they can pack so much goodness into four little walls!

You order and pay first, then find a seat inside or outside. Ample seating options. For drinks, they'll call your name and you pick it up at the counter, while they will bring you your entrée. We came for breakfast, so I had a croissant BLT Harvati sandwich and a latte. My friend had a vegan wrap and a latte as well. The whole indoor feels like a greenhouse once before and transformed to indoor cafe. There are tons of metal welding artwork around and many little retail shopping corners inside. My croissant did not let me know, it was so delicious! They also have a small coffee/ice cream/grab-n-go trailer outside. Overall it's a nice place for breakfast or lunch! We tried coming back again, but the power went out so we weren't able to order anything AND have cash. Guess I'll have to come back to visit!

We each enjoyed a drink and started with appetizers: cauliflower (bbq) and chicken wings. The wine and beer were fine, but the food was blah. We couldn't finish the sad, overcooked, deep fried and breaded cauliflower. Ugh--nothing on the menu described that tortured dish. If one hated cauliflower, this would be the regretful result. The wings faired better but were over produced with sauce and layers of sticky flavor. Too much, darling, too much. Our intent was to order a salad and split a main dish but we changed our minds after the appetizers, which we couldn't finish. Still, sitting in the sun with that view, and the great service was fine. We finished our drinks and made dinner on our boat. We may or may not be back for drinks without food. It's a pretty restaurant with wonderful grounds and staff. The bald eagles soaring overhead were part of the scene, too.
