Unsure why all the negative reviews. The only problem I experienced was the prices. Yeah that was an issues. Else the dining room was clean, the servers were polite, and the food was good. I had a beet salad with a seafood flatbread. Maybe I was expecting thicker salmon instead of the sliced deli salmon. But the taste made up for it. If I'm in YYJ again, I'd surely revisit. read more

Our flight got delayed for 2 hours, and the first thing everyone did was run to Spinnaker's On The Fly for coffee and a quick bite! (That is the only place at the YYJ airport offering food). They have hot and cold wraps/sandwiches, lots of sweets/pastries, and coffee, cold/hot beverages to go. We ordered the folloiwng: - Breakfast Wrap (staff will heat it up for you and it comes out piping hot) The green wrap was soft and chewy, with scrambled eggs, bacon, lettuce, cheese and salsa inside. Really delicious, would recommend :) - Smoked Salmon with Gluten-Free Wrap. Okay, the gluten-free wrap was definitely dry and tasteless; nonetheless, the filling inside with ALL that smoked salmon, onions, capers were SO GOOD. Would recommend but less the gluten-free wrap part lol. read more

There aren't many options for food at Victoria airport and unfortunately this place is one of them. Staff are rude and don't say hello or good morning. I was greeted with a cold "what do you want?" I ordered a chai latte and it was unsweetened. Just a tea bag with steamed milk for 6$. Its not a chai latte, its a chai misto. I also got a ginger cookie and it was dry and fell apart. They don't have any fresh made pastries and you can't even tell what they look like. Just some baked goods in plastic bags. Go to the other coffee place that is an island further down in the airport if you want something better. What a waste of my 11$. I'm left hungry and annoyed. read more

Service was friendly. Food took lover than expected especially considering what I received. FISHBURGER. Deep frying is fast. The deep fried dish was about the size of a chicken nugget. It left a very small day old for sure bun about 2/3 exposed. The bun had a tiny smear of tartar sauce on it that clearly had no thought or effort put into it to it. It was embarrassing and my server even looked embarrassed and said sorry. It was too late to replace as my flight was leaving. The fries? About 21 fries leaving a plate 1/2 empty as presented with burger and fish. I have been a server for almost 30 years and have never seen a dish this bad or effortlessly put together. I'm shocked. Btw. It was $28!!!!! I'm not kidding. I had a Mary browns today for $14 and it was 4 times bigger and had a fresh bun and had flavour. Do not go to spinnakers at yyj airport. So very bad!! Service was terrible. Waited for 15 minutes with dirty plates on the table to order a drink. When I complained, the server argued with me that they were busy. They weren't that busy at the time with about 6 tables and 2 servers working. They unfortunately have you though as they are the only restaurant in that area of the airport. read more

Spinnaker's On the Fly has become somewhat of my go-to YYJ food hub (mostly because it's one of the very few options available) but I think I'm going to have to change that up. Last time around, I noted that I didn't mind paying the exorbitant airport prices since it's kind of the norm but really, it's a bit disappointing that the quality doesn't reflect the price at all. Yes, the airport is a captive customer base, but that doesn't mean my taste buds turn off! I sat down and got the veggie burger with fries, along with a glass of wine. The burger was dry and didn't have much flavour to it, which is extremely surprising because it's a partial beet patty and typically, I find them to be quite delicious. The pickled beets and arugula that came on top were good but due to the buns being half the size of the patty, they all just fell off anyway. The fries were the same: even with ketchup, they still seemed to be flavourless but they looked like they were seasoned quite well, so it was another bummer. When you consider that this burger is over $14, they could put a bit of effort into it, y'know? Plus, if you see my picture, the patty even came out broken and fell right off the bun. Not great... The wine, however, was pretty dang good. The Salt Spring Island Rose was one of the featured drinks and I was in the mood for something light. I really enjoyed the flavour and crispness of the wine, and figured "sure, what the hell" when my server asked if I wanted the 9oz glass. It was about $15 for 9oz's, which is pretty on par with what you're paying for booze at an airport. Lastly, the server that I had (he might have been the manager?) was friendly, helpful, and prompt when I arrived but he never came back around after my food was served to check how it was, if I needed anything else, or even to bring my bill. In an environment where literally everyone is on a schedule (and usually a tight one), I'd expect the bill to be coming as soon as the plate is cleared. Instead, I had to find another server and flag them down for my bill after sitting for a few minutes, completely finished. I really don't like giving negative reviews but I just expect a lot more out of my dining experiences, and over $35 for a dry burger and fries isn't something I'm too happy about. read more

We had an early morning flight, with no time for breakfast in the morning. We also didn't want to haul a bunch of food through security, so opted to see what was available after security. It was our first time departing YYJ. I'm a bit disappointed that Spinnaker's is the only option, but that's not their fault and in fact it's quite to their benefit. I was pleasantly surprised by the array of 'to go' options and also noticing an area to sit down and order from a menu. We just grabbed sandwiches as we could see they were being made fresh for the day. Our multi-grain croissants were more 'bready' than light and flaky as I might expect, but still tasty. My husband really liked it! I had the egg salad, which wasn't drippy with mayonnaise or salty and fit the bill. My husband had ham and Swiss cheese and although he wished it wasn't made with mayo as he's not a fan, it didn't really slow him down. :-) I was worried about the coffee, but I needn't have. It was rich and strong and just what I needed ahead of my flight. I enjoyed it with some banana-chocolate chip bread I'd gotten for desert. The banana bread wasn't dry or crumbly and tasted like mom made it fresh. Although typical 'airport pricing' is in effect, I thought it was good value for 2 sandwiches, coffee and banana bread for ~$20. I would recommend! read more

Wasn't even able to try as they closed at 8:00pm on a Friday. Place was packed, staff allowed patrons to just sit around not even ordering as others were waiting. Laughable place for being the only restaurant past security at Victoria airport. Don't even bother with this joke establishment. Go to white spot before you get through. Half a star is possible. Worst airport and restaurant selection ever. UPDATE. Expensive!!!!!!!!! HOLY OVER PRICED. 20$ for a small meal!? Unassuming coffee/breakfast bar airside at Victoria International Airport. The only reason I'm writing a review, considering most airport restaurants are dodgy on quality and hideously overpriced, is that here you can get the best English breakfast in Victoria. Try to schedule your flight in the morning so you can taste for yourself. Lovely servers and quality ingredients -- sausages and bacon from Two Rivers in Vancouver, and incredibly fresh, free-run, organic eggs. I usually leave the home fries at other places, here, I gobble them all up. Seems an odd place to get the best in Victoria, home of the specialized brunch (lots of great ones incl. Jam Cafe, The Roost, Blue Fox Cafe, and a multitude of others), but there it is. read more

I've stopped in a couple times since they opened last year and it's great. Not your run of the mill airport restaurant - the inspire to be "LOCAL" for many menu items and its a great inspiration to try something new. Large breakfast selection and the Eggs Benny west coast (with loads of very well prepared salmon) is likely the BEST I've ever had - seriously !!! The lunch and dinner items are wonderful. Al is cooked in an open kitchen which I appreciate so you can watch and hear all the action. They have a very extensive beer and wine menu and again lots of local choices ! Fantastic. The have a great "grab and go" section with the same menu food and a couple salads - looks really good and they will do take out very quickly. My server today was slammed busy and she checked in on my a number of times. The prices are very reasonable and the seating is ample for such a small airport. Community tables really help when they get busy and lots of seats at the open counter to watch the action. I don't give out 5 stars very often - but Spinnakers really earns it !! Bring your own food to the Victoria Airport, Spinnakers on the Fly is a complete waste of time. Poor food and poor snarky service. You sit down at the bar to have a bite and a drink. Then when you want to order something to eat you are told you have to go and line up at the deli next door. What a complete waste of time. These guys as so disorganized it caused me to avoid their other restaurant in Victoria. I suggest you do the same. read more

If you didn't have breakfast you can come to the spinnakers but this is after you pass security. Therefore, if you have time you can stop by Tim Horton's which is before security. Anyways, I had the breakfast wrap which is with eggs and peppers. It also included spinach, which was great. It cost me 10$. The drinks are only available after 9 am. They offer the harbour cesar. It's good ir you have a long time to wait because the airport is very small. It's a great airport and people are very kind. read more

The have a great "grab and go" section which is great because there was no seating in the actual restaurant? The girls at the order counter were friendly and quick. Always important when you are grabbing and hopefully going. Grabbed a chicken sandwich, juice and a brownie to go. Expensive, however it is the airport and they can charge what they want since you don't have allot of food choices. The Sandwich was really good but the brownie was very disappointing. I only ended up eating half of it at my gate and ended up throwing it out. Too dry and lacked any taste to be considered a "real brownie". Not sure if they make them in house or outsource it, but they really need to re-think offering it. Wasn't good at all. Besides the brownie, everything else was good from service to food. read more

Burn! First of all they don't have tap so the line up is ridiculous. Given that this is an airport and time is of the essence paying by tap is the only thing that makes sense. Second if you hit ok you automatically pay a 20% tip. So most people don't even notice. You have to hit 4 to avoid paying a tip. Grab food at Tim Hortons! This place is expensive and horrible. Bacon could be a weapon on aircraft. Sausage is dry and looks like it came out of a freezer. Toast was not good. The whole presentation and quality was horrible and all for $16 dollars for described plate. Breakfast for 2 with coffee $42.00 I understand your at an airport and should expect the price gouge. But at least make decent food for that price. Very disappointing. At least at Tim Hortons you you pay $3 for a sandwich and it would have been eatable. Quite possibly the worst espresso I have ever had in my life. A sip was like drinking poison from Hell. Not a good way to start the morning.

Terrible service. We sat right at the bar, and were trying to maintain a buzz, but that was a challenge when the 4 waitress's were too busy gossiping to serve us. I felt like a little wiener sitting there without a drink in my hand while Vanessa and Rachel gossiped about stupid garbage things. I downloaded the yelp app while waiting for service. Worst customer service I've experienced in a while. Walked up to the till and was totally ignored by four different different employees until I asked loudly if they were open. Do NOT trust this place with your food allergies!! I was heading to my flight a couple weeks ago and decided to grab something from the "ready made" section, as I didn't have time to sit at the restaurant (which I usually do). I chose the quinoa salad, and was surprised to see that there was no ingredient list label. Problem #1. So I asked the guy working there, to please check that there was no apples or apple juice in there as I'm very allergic. He takes a few moments and then confirms to me that there isn't. I pay, go upstairs to my gate, crack it open, take two bites and what do I taste? Apple. Absolutly UNACCEPTABLE. I went downstairs and told the guy at the till, do you think he even apologized? No. I've been to the Emergency Room three times for this allergy and first of all he obviously didn't check with the chef in the back to make sure, and just took a wild guess and then once confronted, didn't even make a proper apology, for putting me at such risk!!! He refunded my $5.50 (approx) and I left. Terrible, terrible way to run a business. Unacceptable that something as serious as food allergy is so poorlly handled at a food establsihment. Managment should be ashamed. They're lucky I didn't have to go to the E.R or they would have seen a lawsuit. I travel through this airport every 2 weeks, but never again will I trust them with my safety. read more

Delayed flight led to having lunch @ Spinnaker's. It was the only upside to being stuck in the airport for hours after I was scheduled to leave. I ate the Brewhouse burger with a seafood chowder and both were hot & delicious. The staff was incredibly polite and helpful. I do love spinnakers but I am sorely disappointed with the airport location. Not only is it severely overpriced but the service was lacking and the food was mediocre. On top of that the card machine offers up tip suggestions that start at 18%. Really! That's a huge assumption and likely the staff are paid well to begin with. The food is "eh" and the prices are about what you expect for an airport restaurant that is the only place to eat beyond security (gouge) and have eaten here about a dozen times in and out of YYJ. But what's turned it for me is that the service has taken a nose dive recently. I mean, lame food at high prices to a captive audience was one thing, but staff with a crummy attitude is a step too far. Airports are stressful enough.
