Charley was our project manager; he kept the project moving forward and was extremely responsive to texts and calls. They helped us change the cabinet layout a bit and it ends up being more functional while also having much more usable space. The flooring and baseboards turned out terrific, it really changes the look and feel of the space. We had picked out something that was not one of their usual suppliers, but that was no problem. They really work with you to get exactly what you want. All the workers were friendly, skilled and left our house clean at the end of the day. My thanks to everyone that worked on our project. Chuck finished the kitchen up and did fine work with our plumbing which required some intricate work to accommodate our layout. I highly recommend Mastercraft and would use them again for any future work.

Of the many options they had the best ideas and the qualified workmen. Mike Garst considered the project from every angle, brought in members of his team on 3 occasions to suggest approaches. When they opened the dry wall we found the supports were rotted & had to be replaced. They built a roof support, replaced damaged wood, added cement inside the walls higher than outside level to prevent leaks, then filled a beautiful solid cement floor and repaired the drywall. Better than good as new, this room boasts a superior foundation that gives me confidence. Every member of Mike's team is punctual, profesional, knowledgeable and courteous. When work was done, Mike came and, on his own account, adjusted the sticky sliding door so it moves smoothly. Mike's boss, Brian, also came several times to look over the project. I feel very fortunate to have had MASTERCRAFT take on this hugely complex project and bring a disaster to a happy ending.They explained options, patiently answered my questions and were courteous and pleasant throughout. The quality of their work is outstanding. I will absolutely hire them again - next project plumbing!

Dan is realistic, schedule-conscious and works to exceed expectations. (They finished ahead of schedule!) He's also willing to share his opinions, but in the end, he made sure they executed what I wanted versus what they'd normally do. The team was very skilled, polite and considerate. The only downside was that his online billing system was a bit weird, but it can be over-ridden to pay the correct progress payments. I will likely be working with them again when I find my next house.

His designs tend toward contemporary and coastal which fits the vibe of Carlsbad and the surrounding area. He is attentive and at the job consistently which was important to us after having previous contractors who didn't always show up, or, sent their team and didn't come to oversee the work. Our job involved moving our shower, changing out windows and re-doing the bathroom from the ground up. We went from a dated, non functional bathroom to a modern, beautiful and highly functional bathroom that is now a feature of our house and is enjoyable to use. I highly recommend Drew and his team.

Their quote was completely itemized--which I appreciated--and ended up being well under every other retail bid I received. Two people really made the difference: Mary and Bolo. Mary is a literal pro when it comes to the insurance side of things. She worked tirelessly on the supplements to ensure we maximized our RCV payout from our insurance. She caught things the adjuster missed and helped us get the settlement we actually needed to do the job right. Bolo, the project manager, was extremely responsive and reasonable throughout the entire build. Whenever a technical issue came up--even complex stuff like electrical circuit stability or specific plumbing heights--he was there to talk it through and get it handled. One thing I will say for people considering them: you need to be the kind of homeowner who has the capacity to stay on top of the work. If you know exactly what you want and you're willing to stay involved in the day-to-day details, C2C is an incredible solution. It's a partnership, and because I stayed engaged, we were able to hit a level of quality that usually costs twice as much. The house looks amazing (see the photos of the Blue Thunder Quartzite and the Jade tile!). They were fair, they were fast, and most importantly, they were responsive. Highly recommend if you want high-end results without the "luxury markup" of other firms.

Bill is a true craftsman! I've had a wood gate that has needed rebuilding for the last 8 years…read more Pieces of the wood gate were rotting. Over the years, I've had other handymen pass on the project. I had a handyman who was able to fill the rotted areas with wood filler, sand it, and restain it. I've even had a gate company tell me that they could not save the gate; it would need to be completely replaced. Bill was able to cut out the rotted pieces of wood, replace them, and restain the whole gate (he also repainted the decorative hardware on the door as well). Moreover, he discussed the project with a buddy of his and they determined that the gate was sitting over a muddy part of landscaping which is probably what facilitated the deterioration of the wood. We found some leftover pavers in our storage shed and Bill extended the pavers so the gate would sit over pavers instead of mud. Before he embarked on the wood gate repair, Bill also installed a valance/shade over a window. He made the necessary calculations to ensure that the valance/shade would be centered on the wall and window. He also made sure that the valence was leveled. Bill is honest, meticulous and detail-oriented. If you want someone to treat your project and your home, like it's his own, I would give Bill a call.

We couldn't be happier with the work performed by SD Tile & Stone. They are true craftsmen who take pride in their work and it shows in the quality of workmanship. I've done a fair amount of remodeling with my father so I have a bit of understanding and an eye for where some contractors seem to cut corners to save time & money. We had a flood from broken refrigerator water line that ruined our engineered wood floors. I interviewed four different contractors and initially thought Igor's bid would come in too high because he works on some pretty nice houses in a more exclusive part of San Diego. His price was competitive for the wood floor, bathroom tile, and stone work on the fireplace plus he put me in touch with some good people for plumbing, doors, painting, etc. Igor started with the bathroom tile before Christmas and asked to see a sample of the wood floor we chose to replace the existing damaged floor. This is a seemingly simple but insightful question; by laying the tile at the proper height to match the new wood floor there wouldn't be a need for a transition strip when he installed the wood floor after the holidays (engineered wood floors range from 3/8" to 5/8" thick). From this point on I knew I was in good hands. After the holidays, Igor's father, Alex, took over the majority of the work. We chose a natural stone to replace the ugly red brick for the fireplace and each stone had to be individually cut to fit like pieces of a puzzle. Alex is a true artisan, we love our fireplace and it is readily apparent that Igor developed his attention to detail from his father. As work continued there were numerous other instances where they took the extra time and effort to make sure the flooring and stair treads were installed professionally. Alex worked as much as we would let him, Monday through Saturday for a few weeks. My wife and kids loved seeing him each morning and he became a de facto member of our family. In summary, SD Tile & Stone provide excellent work at competitive prices and are truly some of the nicest people you'll come across. There is only one other contractor I have hired who was their equal in terms of project cost, quality of work, and quality of person. I wouldn't hesitate for one moment in hiring SD Tile & Stone again for stone, tile, and/or flooring install. Thank you Alex, Igor and Svetlana (Igor's wife). read more

We bought our house in April of 2012 and at that time I initially hired Igor to help me with a bathroom remodel in our home. He ripped out the old tile, re-leveled the floor, prepped the shower, and had the new tile in much faster than I anticipated. The speed wasn't what I appreciated the most though, the fact that everything was absolutely perfect is what left my wife and I most content. Once he finished the bathroom and he reviewed everything with me, I asked his opinion on hardwood flooring for the living room, hallways, and kitchen. I didn't realize he would do hardwood installs as well, but he showed me some stuff he'd worked on before and helped me come up with a good plan and product to put in. I had him come back out the next week at which time he demo'd all the old tile, ground the mortar and concrete out, and dropped about 15 bags of leveling concrete on my slab as it had some major dips and valleys to it (probably why the existing tile job was such an adventure to walk across). At the end of the week, the new engineered hardwood was in, glued down, and looking perfect just like our bathroom. All of our friends and family love the flooring and it has held up perfectly for the past three years. Again, while Igor reviewed everything with me, I asked his opinion of the fireplace and if he knew anyone that could help me make it look better. It was an original 1970s stucco and red brick fireplace with a less than perfect arch. He laughed and said he could redo the fireplace for me. Seeing how he was worth every penny on the other jobs he'd already done for me, I obviously agreed to have him take care of it for me. He helped me pick out a design and materials, and once again, had it done in no time at all. It looks awesome, my wife is super happy, we are big fans of Igor and his crew. When he and Lana reached out to me to check out their new website, I was so happy to see that they are still doing great and keeping busy. The quality of work they are doing is probably the best out there, and to top it off, they are good people who I trust and would hire again every time. read more

His work is perfection. He raises the bar in his industry. He is there when he says he will be and he doesn't rush a job to get it done. He stands behind his work. He can afford to. Igor was referred to us by a realtor friend and we understand why he was recommended. Igor does beautiful work. For us he has tiled floors, tiled showers, repaired tile work done by others and laid new laminate flooring. All were done with the care and attention to detail of a master craftsman. From demolition to plumbing to building the walls (not drywall!) to installing the most precise and lovely tiling job I've ever seen. I'm used to home renovation projects being miserable experiences but I looked forward to talking to Daniel and chatting with him about the work he was doing. When my first tile delivery arrived, they inspected **every single tile individually**, identified that a significant amount of the material was nonconforming, and helped me document the issues so I could obtain a refund. They were then incredibly patient while I sourced replacement tile and never made me feel rushed. During installation, they were extremely thoughtful about tile placement and layout and kept me informed and involved in decisions every step of the way. They also discovered an issue with my hood vent that had been caused by a prior contractor and took the time to properly remedy it before completing the backsplash. I Yelped and found Del Mar Tile and Stone and checked out photos and crossreferenced everything. He had stellar reviews everywhere. John the owner came out within a day or two (on a Sunday!) to look at the project and gave me a quote the next day. The project involved tiling on the fireplace surround and also into a cutout for our TV and the vent for the fireplace above. The quote was fair for the amount of work involved and I thought, hey if he's already there maybe get him to re-do tile in one of our bathrooms (a much smaller project)? I texted him a video and measurements of the space prior to him working on the space and he was able to quote the bathroom without coming back! Super cool. The quality of work is amazing. I am a detail-oriented, visual person and with the beautiful black marble with white veining that we chose (with a fluted pattern!) I wanted to be particular with what tiles we should use and which we should not. He was more than accommodating and we have a beautiful, beautiful fireplace now and a gorgeous bathroom. Not everybody could do this job. It was technical as a fireplace surround. The tile contractor had to use the right mortar and he had to level it out just right. As we homeowners know, rarely is your house completely true and flat and square everywhere and the tile had to be done to accommodate all of the imperfections in our visually perfect house. The corners and leveling had to be perfect. He had to carve into drywall to make the corner of the fireplace square. It was crazy and it would have taken me decades of experience to do this myself (enter John). The cutouts for the fireplace and the TV surround had to be perfect. The bathroom turned out flawless as well. John is an awesome person and was so kind and courteous to our pets (he told my dog Thatcher she was beautiful) and was respectful of other contractors we were having at the house at the same time. His son Hunter and his other employee Carlos who worked with him were conscientious, clean, and all three were just all around good people. Please see photos! They do not do the fireplace justice!

I contacted Miguel with photos of my bathroom which was stripped down to the studs with only the plumbing and bathtub installed. Miguel gave me a detailed quote with all of the steps he'd take to complete it. Unlike other tile people I contacted, Miguel was also willing to go above and beyond to install the drywall too (I'd much rather have a tile guy do drywall than a drywall guy do tile!). Miguel was very easy to work with. He knew what needed to be done and only asked questions when we needed to make design decisions. He was true to his quote for timeline and pricing.
