We love Scribner Bend! Their wines are fabulous, especially their sparkling almond wine. Kid friendly too! The grounds are very lush and spread out so it's perfect for the kids to run and play while the adults have some time to sip wine. Been a member here for over a year now. Very friendly staff, always helpful and love to chat and answer questions. Love the membership option with no fee, and two bottles a quarter is perfect for me. Paired with free tasting with membership, along with the discount on other wine purchases, I love it! I'm a fan of most of their wines, especially their Tattoo wine. At the time of this review, they are finishing up a major back patio expansion and pizza oven. I sincerely hope this will lead to an expanded area for wine tasting, because the current indoor tasting room can be a bit small to handle the influx of crowds during peak times. We also arrived to see a sign on a stand saying that wine club pickups were back on the new patio, and after a little bit of wandering around (there was just the one sign pointing to the back patio, no further signs or indications) we found where the pick up location was. And while we were arriving close to closing, and were told that they had just moved the pick up back inside to the tasting room, I am hoping this is a sign that there will be a faster way to pick up wine during busy times instead of heading inside the smaller tasting room when time is short for the customer. Went here for wedding. The wedding set-up is great. They have a beautiful area for the ceremony and a great reception area with large dance floor. The location is gorgeous as they were married with grapes completely surrounding them. The food was decent. It was a sit-down with a fillet and a pecan crusted chicken. There was a ton of meat on the plate. The fillet was tasty but a little tough and the chicken was overcooked but tasty as well. The salad was great! The wines were not that good. The chardonnay is just plain bad and most of the reds are okay but not something I would buy again. They are reasonably priced though. It is a great place to get married but don't get too excited about the quality of wines. read more

We stopped by after spending the afternoon at the sugar mill. As we were winding down from all the wine...they served their almond sparkling wine which was amazing! I must say I enjoyed it more than Karmere's (in amador county) which used to be my all time favorite. Even my mom loved it (and we are such opposites when it comes to wines). She is planning on ordering it for my shower and wedding toast. Can't wait to get others hooked on it too! The staff were also super friendly and informative. This is my favorite winery in the region. In fact, it's the only place I've ever legitimately been tempted to sign up for the wine club. Hey, I feel like I crossed some adulthood barrier here. Now we belong to a wine club! We were impressed by the owner, Mark, who often can be seen stopping in the tasting room or on the patio to check in with visitors. You can tell he loves doing what he's doing: making wine. We even got a barrel room tour once, which was a learning experience. The winery definitely looks like it would be a nice place for a special event. One of the times we were there, a guy proposed to his girl there. Some wineries have staff that clearly can't be bothered with you, who never go beyond pouring a taste and looking bored. At Scribner, we've always felt welcome and comfortable, and have always felt free to ask questions or chat. My favorite wine here is the almond sparkling wine. If you're lucky, they'll have some open to taste. This stuff is so good it inspired our frugal friend to buy a couple bottles for herself. My other big favorite -- one we got another friend hooked on -- is the reserve Black Hat Tempranillo Lot 89. I also like their Late Harvest Chardonnay, also a reserve, because it's sweet and I like sweet wines, to my spouse's chagrin. I should mention we're still learning about wines. If you told me 15 years ago that I would be living in California and tasting wine, I would've called you crazy. So I know what I like, like I know art. But you can believe me when I tell you to get some of the Lot 89. We have some squirreled away for special occasions. And because we're wine club members (discount, holla) and because it's right down the road, we can always get more. read more

I went to their First Release party a couple of weeks ago. I expected more people but to be honest it was nice having more attention. Inside the main office we were able to try a couple new varieties they introduced this year as well as light dessert wines. Outside they have plenty of room for picnics. It is located right off the river on the Sacramento side (rather than Clarksburg). You walk up to the office under a flower covered walkway. The flowers all around you smell wonderful this time of year. Being that it was a release party they had food and music. I had a great time at this free event! The food included everything from the normal cheeses to asparagus, chocolate cake, and artichoke leaves! Just thinking about it makes me hungry for more. Finally, I feel that the service and wine were very good. Top notch for this region! Oh, I should also add they have wine bottle ranging from the low teens to no more than $22. I left with 3 bottles for about $43. read more

My family gathered together to celebrate Father's Day at Scribner Bend Vineyards for the featured BBQ luncheon. We were not disappointed! The meal was fabulous! We were all impressed with the generous portions and the variety. The BBQ platter included half a chicken, tri tip, cole slaw, corn bread and fried mac and cheese balls. Four different BBQ sauces were offered. The setting was beautiful. We opted to sit under tent while the other guests were in the back patio area closer to the music. With our large family and kids, this allowed us more room and the kids to play without disturbing others. I would highly recommend Scribner Bend Vineyards for family events, or a couples afternoon. read more

I went here for the yelp event and was impressed. I have never been here before so I wasnt sure what to expect. When I got there parking was pretty easy and there were people there to help guide us to our location. Then I wandered around the venue and saw all the different wine tasting and liked how there were small vendors under the tent so I checked out some of the items such as chocolates and little gifts for christmas. Scribner Bend Vineyards is definitely a gorgeous place and I can see why people would have their wedding here. read more

We got married at Scribner Bend in October and all I can say is wow!! The venue is gorgeous and the service was amazing. Our wedding went so smoothly and it was truly the best day ever. The coordinators were awesome and even brought me snacks when I was hiding in the back room while my husband was out front of the bungalow taking pictures because I was starving. I highly recommend having your wedding or any other event here. Everyone was so professional and made us feel so special! We are wine club members so we will still come all the time! read more

This is a great place to hold an outside event. The grounds are tranquil and the layout was perfect for celebrating my aunt's birthday. There is a large outdoor tent and the food service was very attentive and discreet. Flowers abound. The wine is satisfactory but nothing I would want to buy or request to taste. This looks like the only game in town but definitely filling a niche. Someone needs to open another winery over here. read more

Very rude and racist people I would say! This was our second stop (the first winery was great! Old Sugar Mill) and as soon as we got here they were just rude and unprofessional. The limo driver called ahead of time to reserve for 16 people and when we got there they said it was only reserved for 3 people (which was a lie because we heard the driver say 16)! Why would he reserve for 3 people only out of 16. Anyway the server was being mean and giving bad facial expressions but probably realized it because then she would try to be nice again, this was repeatedly. At the end an employee was overheard saying a rude comment about us and laughing. This is a nice venue but i would never recommend this place to anyone! The service was just horrible. We came here to celebrate a couples birthday and this almost ruined the day for us, that's how bad it was! read more

I USE to love Scribner Bend, the staff seemed nice, it was a beautiful vineyard, and the Almond Sparkling Wine was SO good. Sadly, the owner is a terrible person and SO mean. I got married at the vineyard this month and we went with an elopement ceremony because of COVID-19. We were forced to make a decision quickly because the owners were trying to give our date, that we put a deposit down for in January 2020, away to another couple. As frustrating as that was, the worst part was the day of the wedding. Scribner decided to host a baby shower for one of their employees, the day of our wedding, which led to the parking lot being PACKED. The bridal bungalow has no parking, so we parked in front of the garage, out of the way of other cars, so that we could unpack everything into bungalow without sweating/hiking back and forth to the car. A lady stopped and blocked traffic to tell us to move, I kindly let her know that I was getting married and was just unpacking the car and then we were going to move. She parked her car, got out, and in a rude tone said "excuse, what did you say?", I kindly repeated myself and she again rudely said "no, you need to move now." One of my bridesmaid said "we are on out last trip and will move the car right after." The worst part is, the owner got into my bridesmaid face and said "No, you aren't listening, you need to move NOW." in the RUDEST, most unprofessional way possible. How is someone like this in business? I've heard multiple stories about the owners and how terrible they are, and I should have listened. If I could help any future bride, DO NOT get married here. read more

I visited Scriber for the Yelp De-stressing on the Delta party. The vined archways and lovely lawn in the center of the vineyard caused some instant de-stressing. Scribner's tasting room is so pretty and the fountain next to the patio really made it feel like a special place. I've had almond sparkling wine at a few local vineyards but Scribner's is by far the best. They have managed to balance the flavor of the almond with the flavor of the grapes, in lieu of the others that I have tried that taste like a ton of Toriani almond syrup was added. I need to return to give the rest of the wine a fair chance, as well. Scribner's just a short drive from midtown so perfect for a getaway that's not so far away. read more

Scribner hosted a Fall event at their vineyard and it was very lovely. The wine samples were great and there were a lot of vendors and activities as well. My husband & I attended a wedding there. Loved the grounds! Loved the staff! Loved the wines! We vowed to go back. The following weekend a group of 9 of us descended upon their tasting room. This was the first wedding venue I visited when I got engaged and as soon as I walked up to Scribner Bend Vineyards, I immediately fell in love and knew that it was where I needed my wedding to be. Jessica Scott , Scribner's event coordinator, was seriously such a gem to work with and I couldn't have done it without her. She was super professional, organized, positive and made me feel calm every step of the way. The entire day was absolutely perfect and the venue looked incredibly stunning. I would highly suggest using vendors from their preferred vendor list. I did not have to manage any other vendors, as they all are familiar with the property. I might also suggest hiring someone to help clean up and pack up belongings at the end of the night, as this was the only part of the evening that didn't go as smooth as I hoped. Regardless of that, the day was absolutely perfect. I also just love going to Scribner for wine tasting, Paesanos and live music! The wine is SO delicious. Beautiful family winery located in the Delta on the banks of the Sacramento River. Unpretentious, classy and totally unassuming. A most friendly and personable service ever experienced. You feel right at home and they take the time to educate you on their wines. Staff seems to truly enjoy what they do. Lovely patio area with live music serving freshly-baked pizzas, charcuterie boards, olives, salads, and other small bites. As for the wine... Pinot Grigio, Reserve Chardonnay, White Wine Blend, Viognier, and the Fiano are excellent. Nero D'Avola and Black Hat Tempranillo are stellar. Scribner Bend is not only a great winery where I've been a member for the past 4 years, it's also the place I got married in June. The staff at Scribner Bend is beyond comparison. They're genuine and kind people who remember you between visits and make your time there unforgettable. The owners are very involved and love to visit with guests while they taste wine. Did I mention the wine is amazing? I love all of their varietals and having my favorite wines at the wedding added something I would have missed anywhere else. As soon as I got engaged they noticed the ring and offered to show me the grounds for a wedding venue without being pushy. My then fiance and I looked at a dozen venues and we kept coming back to Scribner Bend as the place we wanted to get married. Everyone already felt like family, the venue is gorgeous, and the location was ideal. So we were married there in June. Kelly and Karen were both very helpful in planning the wedding day and making sure everything ran so smoothly. Coordinating the wedding was as seamless as it could have been and the day flowed beautifully. The day was a little warm, as expected, but the trees provide cool shade and everything was so green and in blossom for the big day. I highly recommend getting the bungalow rental for prep on the big day and an overnight room for the bride and groom for the wedding night! My wedding day was the best day of my life and a big part of the success of the event was thanks to the great staff and beautiful venue at Scribner Bend. I live further away now but you can be sure I'll be visiting for wine pick-ups. I'm never giving up my membership or the great people at Scribner Bend Vineyards! read more

These guys over promise and under deliver. Jessica is a very difficult person to work with in regards to planning a wedding. They will try and charge you extra fees from every angle and force their own catering. Paesanos is a great place to eat in Sacramento but I would not trust them to cater your event. I attended a wedding here recently and the caterers were behind on food. They kept the entire wedding waiting and by the time the food was ready, half of it was cold. Take or leave my review but these are all facts and I would not recommend this place to anyone for any sort of event. They do a very poor job maintaining the reception space. The tent looks horrible in photos and is extremely dirty. This place could be so much better if they actually cared more about the people than the business transaction. Thumbs down Scribner. You've got great wine, a mediocre venue & horrible execution. read more

Beautiful place!! Unfortunately with the experience we had here we will not be coming back or recommending this place to anyone. On the day of our wedding we arrived and found that there was no parking close to the house where we needed to get ready in, the only available spots were in the over flow down the gravel road. Which is fine so we parked in front of the white garage (out of the way) just so we could unload our bags really quick so we didn't have to carry them. We were parked for literally 2 minutes and as we were taking in our last bags when the owner stops to yell from her car that we need to move. Then stops her car (in the middle of the road) to get out of her car to bluntly tell us she doesn't care what we're doing because we're blocking the road...mind you she was literally parked in the middle of the road. We tried explaining we will move we're just dropping bags off and that we payed for this space so she would have an idea of what we were doing. I told her I understand we are about to move we have two bags left to drop off. She then stepped up to me and got 2 inches from my face and said no you leave now and I once again said more firmly since she felt the need to be that aggressive that we will we're just dropping these bags off. She seemed to realize how rude she was being to us because she then said sorry not trying to be bossy I'm the owner here and got in her car and left. If she is comfortable treating paying customers this way I can only hope her staff isn't being treated just as bad. Providing an experience for someone, especially on their special day is all about how you make them feel as that is what keeps customers coming back to you. Unfortunately we did not receive any type of hospitality from THE OWNER herself and I will not be recommending this place to anybody. I'm our experience they were very nice and helpful through the process until we signed the contract and it went downhill from there. I would like to add that paesanos was very lovely to have and they make scribner what it is! The staff was very nice but the owner of this place ruined it!! read more

Got married here in November. This place was the first and last place we looked at. Fell in love with it immediately. Our ceremony didn't start until after dark but the area around the barn and tent was beautifully lit, which also helped us save on any extra lighting expenses. Our coordinator Jessica was absolutely great and very responsive. The staff were excellent throughout the setup, ceremony, and reception. You can really tell they like to do weddings. As great as the venue was, my favorite aspect of holding an event here was how highly all of our other vendors spoke of them. For the many times I have driven past Scribner Bend I wish I would have stopped by the first time I had seen it. While all this time I find I was missing out. The grounds are gorgeous and smell of sweet roses everywhere just makes you feel romance. My friend brought me there and explained to me her precious wedding day here at the winery. We had our wedding here at this beautiful vineyard on July 8, 2017. It was a hot day that cooled off quickly with a wonderful breeze that came in from the river. The space was perfect for our wedding with 76 guest. Our coordinator, Jessica, was incredible. I visited this vineyard over Memorial Day weekend on a trip to visit family. My cousin's are club members here because they love their wines so much. This place is lovely and their wines are delicious! I really liked the White Blend and the Syrah, both fantastic and at a great price point. The staff here were all great and it's a lovely spot. The only downfall is you gotta get these wines shipped to you as I don't think you can buy them in stores. I will be back to visit next time I am in the area. read more

The staff was very accommodating, they had a special valentines food menu I believe, but you could also bring your own picnic, which I wasn't aware of since I didn't see it on the website. The staff was seriously the best to work with. Everyone is flexible, and it was a perfect sized venue (our guest count was 120). I was planning this event from a distance and had only seen the winery online through pictures. She patiently answered my million questions. This review is particularly for Scribner Bend's Event/Marketing Manager Karen Gamalski. Perhaps the winery and other staff are nice- I won't go to find out thanks to my experience with Ms. Gamalski, who was rude, unprofessional and totally unhelpful. I was interested in hosting an intimate dinner party on the winery to celebrate my law school graduation. I submitted an online request form on their website with a short blurb asking for more information on date availabilities and pricing. Karen replied the next day via curt email stating simply: "we don't do graduation parties here." Their website explicitly states that they host any type of small event and party, including "an anniversary party, baby shower, birthday party, rehearsal dinner or just lunch with friends." When I inquired as to the significant difference between these occasions and mine, I never received a response from her. I'll be glad to take my business elsewhere. read more

My husband and I were married at Scribner Bend last summer. I cannot say enough about this place... Most brides have one or two things that they prioritize above all else when planning their wedding. Some want the best food; others may want to put a significant amount toward their flowers, or their dress. For me, it was the venue above all else. In my opinion, the venue sets the tone for your wedding and plays a huge part in how much your guests enjoy themselves- and I was aiming to please! The venue itself is beautiful and exactly what I was looking for. They are constantly updating it and adding new features, and we were so impressed on our tour of the place. What really sold it for me was the "Bridal Bungalow"- the adorable old farmhouse on the property were the bride and her girls can spend all day getting ready. You can also choose to spend the night there after the wedding, which we decided to do at the last minute. I'm so glad we did. After everyone is gone you are completely alone in this beautiful house on the river- peace and privacy you'd never get if you stayed in a hotel. I woke up very early the next morning-though we were told we didn't need to rush out- and was able to watch the sunrise over the vineyards and reflect on my wonderful wedding day. What we weren't expecting when we first toured Scribner Bend was how much we'd fall in love with the people, specifically Kelley. By the end of our tour and some wine tasting it felt like we were old friends. At one point she showed us a video of other weddings that had taken place there. Although she must have seen it a thousand times, you'd never know it. She oo'ed and ahh'ed as she pointed out couples- "They just came in to see us last week!" "Oh they're pregnant with twins now!" It felt like someone was showing us videos of her family and it really struck me how much she loves seeing these happy couples and considers them family even years later. We hadn't met anyone like that at any other venue we'd toured. The day of our wedding, Kelley and her staff were there for us every step of the way and could almost sense what we needed before we did. At one point my family took a break from getting ready to go out and try to quickly set up some last minute details, only to find that Kelley and her staff had taken care of it all. After the wedding my family could not stop talking with how impressed they were with the staff and how amazing Kelley was. And our guests could not stop talking about how beautiful the venue was. Another note: The type of people who make Scribner Bend so amazing can also be found in the tasting room. Let me just say: this is not an uppity, snobby winery. Every time we've ever been in to taste, it's like a party with old friends. It's clear the staff love what they do and who they work with and they love getting to share their wine with customers. My husband and I are celebrating our one year anniversary in a few days and we will be returning to Scribner Bend this weekend to celebrate.This place and its people are amazing and I can't thank them enough for making our wedding so perfect! read more
