This cute and cozy winery located at the Old Sugar Mill was very delightful. The wine tasted richly made and the customer service was impeccable. I love when they tell me about the wine as well as the process in which they made the wine. I believe when wine tasting this practice should be standard. Elevation Ten did not disappoint, Savannah who we had the pleasure of meeting made our wine tasting experience amazing.

15 minutes from Downtown Sac, inside the Old Sugar Mill Thanks to Fiona for a pleasant experience at Elevation Ten located inside the Old Sugar Mill in Clarksburg. We had a 3:15p reservation for two. We had our Mom with us (not planned) but they allowed her to come sit with us while we sampled some tastings. Fiona started us off with their 2020 Clarksburg Pinot Noir Rosé... it was actually nice. Look for a majestic brick building, the Clarksburg's historic Old Sugar Mill, and Elevation Ten is on your right side. Masks were required to enter the building but not required inside the tasting room. My observation was people were just done with the masks and noticed many of the guests did not wear them inside. Inside the tasting room the staff was super friendly and our hostess, Fiona, was very knowledgeable about the wines they offered. We did like the Pinot Noir Rosé but we asked about the dessert wine, she suggested we try a chocolate flight with the After Ten Port Style Wine. Oh my, what a delightful pairing. We ended up purchasing a bottle that came with a box set of dark chocolate. I also got a bottle of their Guilty Garlic Olive Oil. Cheers! Review #2302

Checked out Elevation for the first time a couple of weeks ago after signing up for the Yelp Passport to Yolo Wine Country. It was a quick drive from our house minus some traffic. I love driving through the windy roads to get to the Old Sugar Mill where Elevation is located. I made a reservation over the phone and they staff was very friendly. When we arrived, we were escorted to an outdoor table and told someone would be with us soon. Dean arrived shortly after and took good care of us! We were able to try 5-6 different wines (from what I recall) and as someone who is a red wine fan, my favorite from the bunch was actually one of their whites. I even took a bottle home. We ordered a small charcuterie box for the table and they also provided complimentary breadsticks. Through Yelp, we were able to get our tastings for free plus a chocolate and port pairing which was my favorite part! Overall, the tasting was about an hour and half. We never felt rushed or pressured to buy or join their club which I liked. I would definitely come back to Elevation!

I called for a reservation for 2 on Father's Day and was pleasantly surprised to find they had room for my sister and me! We came in a few hours later and Alena (probably didn't spell that right, sorry!) was our server. She was the absolute sweetest. It was our first time to Elevation Ten and we just loved the vibe. The live music made the bar so entertaining and the music was so calming. The young lady singing had such a soothing voice. It was the perfect to listen to while relaxing with a few glasses of wine. They don't have a "tasting menu" from what I understand. Alena asked what we preferred/liked and she brought over wines for us to taste based on our preference. We had a few whites and several of their reds, and I found the white sparking my favorite. We also tasted the dessert port with the truffle and found the port really rich and heavy, but the truffle was the absolute winner there! They have plenty of trinkets and goodies to purchase near the front door and the space is so well designed & clean. I really enjoyed my afternoon at Elevation and can't wait to return!

Wow, I had an incredible experience here! I enjoyed every second of being a patron from entering with live music playing, great staff that is super helpful, and fantastic wine. Definitely, one of my top places to come now that I have been here. I'm already considering joining their club ;) From all the varieties of wines they offer, I enjoyed just about all of them. I generally prefer Cabs and E10's is awesome! The staff is definitely what makes E10 magical. A few notes, a) Make reservations, b) be early, c) enjoy your time there. Honestly, I recommend coming here first before the other establishments at the Old Sugar Mill because it'll make a great memory. Pros: Staff, Wine, Ambiance Cons: Small Stars: 5

This was our first stop for the day at the Old Sugar Mill. We had the hibiscus mimosas, which were very unique and delicious. We did not do a tasting, but wine is such a personal thing that my opinion is really my own. However, customer service was personable and very low key. Since there was only one other couple there, we were permitted to sit in the comfy chairs in the member section, which was a great place to sit, chat, and enjoy our mimosas. The actual tasting bar is fairly small. but there are a number of tables set up in the main area.

Getting together with friends is always fun, especially when you are exploring new restaurants, wineries, distilleries, and such! What's better than an old abandoned building? An old, refurbished building transformed beautifully into a bustling hub of numerous wineries! Our group of friends, old and new, went this weekend to visit the old Sugar Mill in Clarksburg, specifically Elevation 10, a good introduction of the Mill, and a good introduction of sampling some latest vintages! There appeared to be other small businesses in the Mill to explore, so I must go back when I have more time and when it's not so busy (this was the last wine tasting available for us for the year). For a $10 tasting fee (redeemable towards any wine purchases) you can reserve Elevation 10's private tasting room, located in the back, which we reserved for our group of over 20 happy "whiners"! Our server was attentive and provided us with complementary chilled water and bread sticks. ;o) The wines were ok. Our group, as a whole, usually enjoys the Cabernet, but on this occasion, surprisingly the Pinot Grigio was the favorite of the wines sampled. I believe if you were to purchase a bottle of wine, you would receive a 35% discount. Our group was not impressed with the "samples", so, we purchased a bottle of the proprietors blend Cabernet, which was delicious. Besides wine, to my surprise and delight, they have a WONDERFUL sampling of (dipping) olive oils and balsamic vinegars (my weakness). I love good olive oil and thick, delicious flavored balsamic! They sell gift certificates, as well, and with Christmas around the corner, the Sugar Mill and Elevation 10 is a great place to do some early Christmas shopping! I am still learning the skill of wine tasting. It seems many wineries push a wine club membership. I just want to say, "I am just passing through and hanging out with friends and thinking about buying a bottle as a gift". I didn't feel any pressure here to join, nor did I feel as if we were treated differently than "club members". Actually, having our own room, server, etc felt pretty special! I recommend you check out the Sugar Mill during the week as parking is next to impossible on the weekend and you'll end up parked out in a muddy field, for overflow parking, especially during the rainy season. Your tires will be coated with mud and rocks...not even going to mention shoes. I was fortunate not to have to park or walk in the mud. Felt bad for those who did...ugh. Definitely arrive in a 4x4 and leave the 2-door Mercedes convertible at home...especially during rainy season. However, drive those convertibles during the warmer weather as it is a beautiful drive through the town of Freeport and along the Sacramento River! Sugar Mill: 5 stars! Sugar Mill Parking: 1 star Friends: 5 stars! Elevation 10 olive oil and balsamic vinegar: 5 stars! Elevation 10 wine (samples): 3 stars The olive oil at Elevation 10 is insanely delicious (there is a comparable olive oil store in Old Sac - sample away!) and wish I could just rate it! But this supposed to be a wine review of Elevation 10...3 1/2 stars is the best I can do.

The Hibiscus Mimosa is to die for! I recently visited The Old Sugar Mill for the first time and the sign for Hibiscus Mimosas immediately caught my eye so I wandered in to buy one. Within seconds, I had my mimosa in hand. It was FANTASTIC and well worth the $12. It was crisp, refreshing, and not too sweet. We also sat down and tried a bunch of wines. All were well balanced and smooth.

Simply amazing. The staff were beyond delightful and our hostess Colleen was phenomenal. Lots of laughs and great wine. The cab sauv was amazing as was their Malbec. Don't forget to try the Fiano. The unique flavor and mouthfeel alone is worth it. Like nothing I've ever tasted before. We were seated outside on the patio which honestly was the best seat in the whole sugar mill. You're left immersed in the architecture of the mill with the sun peaking in through the metal beams and old broken windows all of which create an ambiance perfect for wine tasting.

    Best time!

Shoutout to the West Sacramento/ Clarksburg area…read more... The Old Sugar Mill in Clarksburg is a historic beet sugar refinery from 1934-1993 that has wine shops and tasting rooms for local wineries. They have over a dozen wineries. Wine tastings average $15 and most wineries waive the fee if you buy a bottle. They have wine shops in the main building and in the other building. Don't forget to walk back and to the right to the shops in the separate back building, there is 3-4 more wineries. Each winery are literal walled shops with their own seating areas. Temperature controlled which is nice on hot summer days. Each have their own wine tasting, food offerings, and special events. Old Sugar Mill is less than 15 minute drive from downtown Sacramento. The buildings are beautiful. They kept the historic brick walls and exterior. It has a modern shabby chic look. Three different brands owned the refinery. It all began in 1934 with Amalgamated, American Crystal Sugar Factory (1936-1982), and Delta Sugar (1983-1993). The sugar was refined by local Northern Californian grown beets. The buildings was renovated in 2000 for its current use. Awesome concept and beautiful architecture design. They also host weddings and events. They have a banquet room with slideshow equipment. There is also an outdoor lawn and adjoining paved patio area that is shaded in the afternoon by the buildings that would make for a gorgeous wedding venue. On hot summer days, the Delta breeze kicks in for instant cool down. No outside food are picnics are allowed. On the weekends, they have food trucks. Plus the majority of the wineries sell food (appetizers) as well. Also no pets are allowed (excluding service animals). The restrooms are located right by the front entrance.

Bathrooms- They have many stalls in the bathroom located to the left of the entrance. Temperature- It's cool inside, a little too cool for us today. It was 63 degrees out today and warm in the sun. I bet in the sweltering heat of our summers this is the perfect place to be. The Sugar Mill is an indoor venue. They have three different building with different wineries at this time. So, there is a little walking outside. Wine Barrels- You can buy half wine barrels for your garden for sale. Seating- They have lots of little seating areas. Inside they have a whole room with seating and nice decor. The tables are draped in white table cloths and there are stacks of wine barrels as the back drop. They have a palm court in the back and it's so quaint and beautiful. Perfect for sipping some wine slowly and chit chatting with friends. If you are looking to sit in the sun there is are a set of tables and chairs out back near the food truck. Ambiance- I love the location and building. It's an old Sugar Mill that produced sugar from sugar beets. That industry has now ended and it's now a place to visit many wineries. It's the only place that I know of that have numerous wineries and offer wine tasing for a minimum fee.

We were especially pleased by how much was included in the venue package that we didn't have to coordinate separately, like lighting, tables, and chairs. Shaye was an absolute delight to work with and we always felt cared for. As a queer couple, it was so nice to feel welcomed and accepted by Scribner Bend and all of their preferred vendors we spoke with. May was the perfect time to be there, the white roses on the arches were in bloom which complemented the rest of our florals beautifully. Our whole day flowed so smoothly thanks to Deija, our day-of planner provided by Scribner Bend, and all of the rest of the staff. All of our guests were so complimentary of the wine, the setting, and the flow of the evening. We really could not have wished for a better venue experience. We also want to note, Paesanos was an exceptional caterer! I know some might be concerned with not having a choice of caterer but we found it to be a relief (one less vendor to coordinate) and Paesanos did a fantastic job. Rain was amazing at communication, and Diana was wonderful to work with on the day. They even packed up a couple of containers of leftovers for us to go home with. And it is a source of great pride to find our local, Greater Sacramento-Delta Bogle wines when we travel outside of California or USA. In fact, we were thrilled to enjoy a bottle in Shanghai, China! But we had never been to the Bogle Family Ranch and Vineyards outside of Clarksburg, CA. We finally reserved a couple of hours to visit the winery - and can't say enough good things! We enjoyed several, terrific wines not available in our local stores - such as their delicious Sparkling Rose! But more importantly, experienced a lovely afternoon on the BEAUTIFUL Bogle Family Ranch grounds! Everything around us was green and gorgeous; with cool breezes due to the surrounding water of the Sacramento River. The picnic tables were warm and inviting. The snacks were great (we brought a picnic lunch). And EVERY employee with which we spoke was excited to educate and inspire us - taking great pride in Bogle Family's six generations of Delta farming; sincere commitment to sustainability and the community; and vision of how the family plans to continue the winery's growth and international expansion, while maintaining its commitment to winemaking excellence. Every staff member that we met had been Bogle employees for over 10 years at least (a couple over 30!). The wine and property are lovely -- unfortunately the welcome at the door felt like an audition for "Most Judgmental Winery Greeter." When we walked in, the woman at the front greeted us with a slow head-to-toe scan before even saying hello. For context, we weren't exactly stumbling in from a river float -- Patagonia, designer black jeans, nice casual wine-country attire. My partner was dressed similarly. Completely normal for a winery visit. Since it was my first time there, I asked where we should go. She informed us -- while continuing the visual inspection -- that upstairs was reserved for more formally dressed guests with reservations. The upstairs area, by the way, was completely empty. She then told us we could "go help ourselves around the corner." The tone was less "welcome to wine country" and more "you appear to be beneath the staircase." Honestly, I've been to plenty of wineries, from casual tasting rooms to higher-end spots, and I've never been greeted with that level of instant judgment. It was oddly hostile for a place that literally sells a beverage meant for relaxing. The ironic part is that after getting past that moment, the rest of the experience was actually nice. The wine was good, the grounds are pretty, and the other staff we interacted with were perfectly pleasant. But that initial interaction? Brutal. If first impressions matter (and they do in hospitality), someone might want to let the front door know that sizing people up like a nightclub bouncer at 1am isn't exactly the warm, welcoming winery vibe most people are hoping for. Great wine. Beautiful place. One spectacularly toxic greeting.

I was so excited and the wines lived up to my expectation. The list offered 8 wines of which I was able to pick 5 for $15. The tasting is waived if you purchase a bottle to which I bought two. They claim to have the best Chenin Blanc and admittedly it was very good! Got a bottle of that and the Delta Rose at reasonable prices after the tastings. Chad was a great host and very knowledgeable about all of the wines that he poured for us and we got to sample several of them off the list! I would absolutely come back and visit again after the great experience I had with my friend.
