Shoutout to the West Sacramento/ Clarksburg area.... The Old Sugar Mill in Clarksburg is a historic beet sugar refinery from 1934-1993 that has wine shops and tasting rooms for local wineries. They have over a dozen wineries. Wine tastings average $15 and most wineries waive the fee if you buy a bottle. They have wine shops in the main building and in the other building. Don't forget to walk back and to the right to the shops in the separate back building, there is 3-4 more wineries. Each winery are literal walled shops with their own seating areas. Temperature controlled which is nice on hot summer days. Each have their own wine tasting, food offerings, and special events. Old Sugar Mill is less than 15 minute drive from downtown Sacramento. The buildings are beautiful. They kept the historic brick walls and exterior. It has a modern shabby chic look. Three different brands owned the refinery. It all began in 1934 with Amalgamated, American Crystal Sugar Factory (1936-1982), and Delta Sugar (1983-1993). The sugar was refined by local Northern Californian grown beets. The buildings was renovated in 2000 for its current use. Awesome concept and beautiful architecture design. They also host weddings and events. They have a banquet room with slideshow equipment. There is also an outdoor lawn and adjoining paved patio area that is shaded in the afternoon by the buildings that would make for a gorgeous wedding venue. On hot summer days, the Delta breeze kicks in for instant cool down. No outside food are picnics are allowed. On the weekends, they have food trucks. Wow!!! What a place. Sunday, February 1st, 2026 was our first visit. We've heard of the Old Sugar Mill for years, but never visited. They have many events here, including private events and wedding. The upcoming event is Port and Chocolate for Valentine's Day. That sounds so delicious. I loved chocolate and my husband is always up to trying another port. Parking- They have a private lot and we were able to easily find a parking spot right in-front of the entrance. Bathrooms- They have many stalls in the bathroom located to the left of the entrance. Temperature- It's cool inside, a little too cool for us today. It was 63 degrees out today and warm in the sun. I bet in the sweltering heat of our summers this is the perfect place to be. The Sugar Mill is an indoor venue. They have three different building with different wineries at this time. So, there is a little walking outside. Wine Barrels- You can buy half wine barrels for your garden for sale. Seating- They have lots of little seating areas. Inside they have a whole room with seating and nice decor. The tables are draped in white table cloths and there are stacks of wine barrels as the back drop. They have a palm court in the back and it's so quaint and beautiful. Perfect for sipping some wine slowly and chit chatting with friends. If you are looking to sit in the sun there is are a set of tables and chairs out back near the food truck. Ambiance- I love the location and building. It's an old Sugar Mill that produced sugar from sugar beets. That industry has now ended and it's now a place to visit many wineries. Wonderful red, white and rose wine. We were served by the wife who is very charming. She brought us a little cup of crackers to have without wine and also a chocolate truffle to pair with the Elegante wine that both my friend and I fell in love with. I love dark chocolate with red wine and this made the tasting so special. After our tasting, we were given a sample of two of their sangrias. Another great event. It's really what you make of it. Free to get in and the wineries charge a nominal fee set at each location for tasting- many will waive the fee if you buy a bottle. Per usual stopped by Todd Taylor (as a member you get extra tastings - love). Went to Country Roads and found a Malbec we bought but TBH all their award winners were great! Their members club looked enticing too! Had the Totchos from Drewskis with pulled pork (no aioli/ onions). There was other options for food this is just what we chose - about 5 other food trucks) The music featured inside was just right too - suave. Keep an eye on Eventbright for other upcoming events! BTW - there are restrooms inside but outside on the patio there are also the "classier" porta potty's. Lots of seating outside and some inside. Parking can be tricky but lots available- be prepared that you might need to walk through the dirt lot or some taller grass, so either leave the super high heels at home or ask to get dropped off at the front by your driver. The Old Sugar Mill never disappoints! We were able to try so many different wines from Bump City Wine Co, Rendezvous and sparkling ones from Bonitata. Also purchased tasty chocolate treats from Capitol Confections. Everyone was friendly and jovial. The holiday themed decorations were throughout the building everything was decorated so nicely. September 7, 2024 Hand-Blown Glass Pumpkin Patch Event (September 7 & 8, 2024) We made our way to the Old Sugar Mill in Clarksburg specifically for the Hand-Blown Glass Pumpkin Patch. We decided to walk through the building past all the wine tasting rooms and head out to to the "pumpkin patch" first. The pumpkins were displayed on hay bales, and let me say that never have I ever seen so many blown-glass pumpkins! So many choices, all sizes and colors, with prices ranging from $38-800. I chose a small butternut squash shaped beauty, which was $45. One and done for me, but there were a few people with baskets who had selected quite a few to take home. Purchase made, we headed back into the building with the idea of tasting a bit of wine (we're here, so why not, right?). With 14 wineries to choose from, it was a bit overwhelming at first to decide which two (our self-imposed limit) to try. We chose Three Wine Company and Bump City. Friendly service and good wines at both, and we took two bottles of wine home from each. The visit made for a very fun and enjoyable excursion. Well worth the drive out to Clarksburg. read more

Every developed city has some sort of a "MILL" and Clarksburg is no different. They had a sugar mill. That sugar mill is now a home for wineries and other local specialty merchandise. Here is my story: Tooling around and playing tourist with my friends in the Sacramento area, she suggests we visit the Old Sugar Mill. Evidently there was some Yelp Elite Event at the Old Sugar Mill years back. I'm going to surmise the Event was a hit; such that people remembered this place and the merchants there in. My friends and I go to a couple wineries and one in particular as Elevation Ten Winery. OK, they had a nice patio seating area and a comfortable wine tasting bar inside the Establishment. I got myself a bottle of Elevation Ten's Proprietor's Red Blend which as absolutely delightful to taste. Great place to hang out for the day. In the summers you can sit in their large lawn area and have a picnic or you can peruse your way through the dozen or so wineries or your wedding or your anniversary or your class reunion... Not sure how many pumpkins there were, but it had to be in the thousands. We spent a little time pouring over all of the displays and end up buying a small one for our fall season collection. The checkout service was very efficient. They had live music and food trucks there on that particular day. After checking out the pumpkin display, we headed indoors. OMG. This venue was amazing! We recently visited to enjoy the Rose' All Day Event .. Beautiful people all dressed in different shades of pink enjoying the day ! The wine was delicious as well ! The heat was a little too much , however we managed! We purchased some great food from the vendor Saucy Oysters.., nice friendly people, I ordered the gumbo greens and boy were they tasty! We were celebrating the release of my magazine for women ! I am so glad we chose this event and venue for our small celebration, not to mention Pink is my favorite color! The 2 cons were the facts that the DJ ( who did play some awesome old school jams ) but not friendly at all and I heard this from quite a few people who attended the event and The Carmel Apple vendor ( the lady was not friendly at all giving people the side eye , and only friendly to certain people, the man was friendly and the only reason I purchased the apple, SMH , the apple was good but could have used a little more Carmel, Other than that we had an amazing time and will definitely be back soon! read more

I attended a wedding for about 250 guests that fit comfortably. Its high ceilings made for a spectacular presentation in this historic shabby-chic setting. It appears that one can make this venue work with your imagination. The reception hall was romantically decorated with strings of lights draped across the ceilings. The catering included delicious crab cakes, bruschetta and sliders for appetizer in a courtyard at the entrance of the reception hall. My dinner included well seasoned plate of short ribs, mixed veggies and bread - it was delicious. My husband had the of which he said was delicious. The restroom is a separate trailer but it is a "high-end" port-a-potty. The only reason lacking the 5th star is the noise level created by its architecture and the caterer took almost 2 hours to serve but that is likely a contract service. read more

One things forsure! The Old Sugar Mill is going to show you a good time. It's been a while since my last visit, which was on a birthday a few years back. Let's just say... I had a blast! First things first it's a beautiful place. Yes the place is older, but very well kept. Upon arrival it doesn't look like the most extravagant place to be but inside will make you change your mind. The place is huge as you can tell from the structure on the outside. When you walk in you're greeted with several spaces to enter that include the individual wineries. On-site there are a total of 14 wineries! Bingo! I personally enjoyed RENDEZ-VOUS winery, Elevation Ten, and Vino De Oro. All had great selections and service. The staff of the facility and different wineries were very accommodating for our large group being kind and professional from start to finish, assisted with group photos, and even gave us a souvenir wine glass. The Old Sugar Mill also serves as an event space so be sure to check out the monthly events calendar or if you're looking for a wedding venue, they've got you covered. There's not much to do in regard to food being that it is a winery location, but pairing items are offered and food trucks are available from time to time. The day of my visit Bussin Buns food truck was onsite and prepared a very tasty burger. I was a bit bummed that there was no live music but thanks to my brunch group we had enough entertainment. I love the lawn area in the back it's a nice size and you have enough room to spread out, play games, chill picnic style, or just lounge. All wineries and owners have a unique twist to how they do service, tastings, and deliver the passion through their product and I love every bit of it. One thing that stood out was a donut and wine pairing, I'd never heard of that, but it sounds good. It's amazing in the summer because they have a huge grassy area and sometimes they bring out food trucks but also amazing to go on a fall or winter day because most of the wineries are fully indoor. You have so many options here and can really spend a full day! Great collection of wineries nestled into the historic Sugar Mill. It must be said, what a beautiful venue!! I was blown away by the gorgeousness of the old sugar mill and surrounding landscape. My friends and I met here for a Galentines celebration and there was something for everyone. We tasted at 3 wineries - Draconis, Three Wine and Bump City - and enjoyed the fried chicken from the food truck parked out back. The venue provided a gorgeous backdrop for our winecapades, and we enjoyed taking photos around the grounds. Ended up purchasing a bottle of Petit Syrah from Three Wine company. Draconis is a winery for those want to deviate from traditional "wine tasting." The experience is centered on texture, and no tasting notes are provided. I was very to have made reservations at Clarksburg Wine Co because it was packed when we got there. They had two food trucks onsite when we first arrived but about 2 hours later when we got hungry there was only the greek one which I LOVE! They have the best falafel! Walked in on a recommendation while I was in the area not knowing what to expect. First off I love building ascetics! As I walked in during the middle of the week it was later in the afternoon during the week so it was kind of quiet. Walking into the main hall and looking at everything I turned to my left to what was Rendezvous-vous winery. They had both red and white wine flights, I opted for the red. Although they didn't have a true Cab which I prefer, they did have some very tasty Tempranillo, barberas and blends. The hostess was extremely knowledgeable and made the whole experience that much better. Thoroughly enjoyed the wine tastings as she suggested different styles based on my taste. They actually explained to me that they weren't the only winery there, which I was excited to here but unfortunately they closed at 5 that day so I was unable to experience the other offerings the sugar has to offer. I'll have to go back and check out the other places as they all have a different style and theme from what I was told. Overall a great experience and a must try if I'm the area. read more

First time at the Old Sugar Mill. I visited during a cold winter day and still thought this place was beautiful. Its a large brick building with various wineries inside to choose from. They also have another building that looks like it would make a great wedding or party venue. Our first stop was rendezvous winery. The service was as great as the wine. I highly suggest the sweet wine flight tasting. The port was my favorite. We were on the hunt for the warm sangria but missed out because we spent a large amount of time at the first and second tasting. I'll probably try and go back during the spring, better photo opportunities! Lol. They have snacks you can purchase at the different wineries but nothing beyond that. Fourteen wineries. One location My first time here was through a Yelp event held about this same time last year when one of the wine tasting participants was Elevation Ten Winery. I'm not a wine club member or anything like that... my purpose here today was to look for a birthday gift for a good friend. I was glad to see that Séka Hills Tasting Room was one of the wineries here. Last year, during the Yelp event, I purchased a Balsamic Vinegar/EVOO pair at their location in Brooks and my friend enjoyed it so much at our potluck so I planned to give her a sampler gift set (Brooks is quite a distance from me located near Cache Creek Casino in Capay Valley). Found a Séka Hills Tasting Room here at The Old Sugar Mill which was a shorter drive for me. Look for a majestic brick building, the Clarksburg historic Old Sugar Mill. Parking is plentiful but it can get full. People love their wine. There are 14 wine tasting rooms on location. Reservations are recommended as some are by appointment only.
