The Yolanda Ranch is an outdoor wedding venue in Woodland, CA The site has a picturesque 1880-era Victorian Mansion, but amenities are relatively new-ish because they have only been "open to the public" for about a year now. Restrooms, lighting, and electrical are state-of-the art. Plenty of shade trees to keep out the heat. Beautiful grounds, even in a drought. The parking lot has "stadium lighting" to ensure proper security. Best of all, this venue won't break your piggy bank.....since they aren't a "winery" you don't have to buy their wines and you're not forced to pay for pricey plated dinners. Jamie (owner/manager) has a philosophy of not "nickel & diming" her couples, she is very easy going and helpful. Acoustics & sight lines are excellent. Probably one of the best wedding venues I've seen, in this price range.

Gramps truck! So handy for gifts.

No open to the public a few days a month, the Gibson House consists of 11 rooms, a root cellar, a dairy room, a barn a blacksmith shop and more. I entered house and joined a tour led by a very knowledgable docent. The house boasted a very nice interior decorated in the late 19th/early 20th century style. As earlier mentioned, no picture were allowed inside the house, which is always disappointing (I had no idea that I had such a thing for ceiling sconces until I wasn't allowed to share them). I did get a nice informational packet that covered that basics of the house and it's timeline. The Gibson House is a nice enough little house with some decent history, but with both the interesting out buildings being closed up and not being allowed to take pictures inside, my visit was somewhat disappointing. It does get an extra half point for my very knowledgable docent who gave a very nice tour.

They made me feel like the entire grounds were mine and were pretty relaxed with what I had in mind. The groundskeeper was very friendly as well. The day before my wedding my husband and I stopped by to do a quick "once over" and mini rehearsal when I found a bridal party taking pictures on the lawn. I quickly looked at their website via my smart phone to see if we were encroaching on a wedding to find that there wasn't supposed to be anyone there. The groundskeeper said they barged onto the property while they were trying to prep for our wedding the next day. He was frustrated because it was the photographer's idea to swing by and take pictures while they were trying to set up for my wedding. Dave handled it with grace after telling them that they were supposed to make arrangements beforehand. The photographer and the rest of the party gave my wedding party and me some pretty dirty looks while we were walking around the grounds taking notes. It's not my fault you can't follow the rules. Dave told us that the grounds were ours and we could walk around anywhere we needed so that we could get an idea of what we were doing for the wedding. I figure it's good to be nice to the people who are providing you a service. And these folks are beyond friendly, approachable and awesome to deal with. The grounds are gorgeous and really affordable. What's better than helping a local museum?!

This property seemed to have the least negative reviews and reported issues. Booked. Check in was super easy - they had fruit infused water which is also ways a plus for me. I went up and checked the room first, looked fine at first look. So we proceeded to wipe down everything and get settled. Only after doing so do I see something sticking out from under my bed. I raise the skirt and my stomach still turns but there was a tampon!!!!! It was used but not bloody or you'd still hear my screams. I had to take a min like wtaf is this?! What kind of person pulls one out and doesn't immediately dispose of it. But also how tf did housekeeping miss it?! Maybe some woman didn't leave it and it fell out of housekeepings bag. Either way flipping disgusting. Ended up calling and was offered an apology and to switch rooms or have it cleaned. We deliberated and had already had a full day so we said come clean it. After tampon gate my mom wanted to clean her bag out and watch tv at the table. Issue is when you rotate the tv, it turns off. Again I call, this time I got questioned as to why I'd want to turn the tv!! Are you kidding me?! Just fix it!! I left and my mom used the pool and hot tub, she found them refreshing. Both the pool and the gym appeared really nice and clean. I never had time to use either but I'm glad she enjoyed it. The iron wasn't great. The heat was inconsistent. Turned it up and burned a hole in my shirt. Not necessarily blaming them just something else to add to the list. The light in the hallway flickered on and off during the night so that's lovely. The bathroom had patches of wallpaper snapped on in various places. There was random hairs about that weren't ours. Stray hairs freak me tf out. They have Dove products which is fine, I don't use otc soaps and things but can understand how it's nice for some. Breakfast had a lot of options, was well manned and clean. Checkout was noon but I got an extra couple hours due to aforementioned issues. That helped us out. My mom chilled in the dining area which is clean, and I was able to finish my last few things I needed to do. So hopefully my review helps understand why I'm torn. My friend gets rooms at cache creek and offered me one, next time I'll probably take him up on it and make the drive.

You can see that the YFC holds a dear spot in my heart - my grandpa was even the president of the club at one point. The YFC is a great spot for any occasion - the clubhouse is a great spot for a casual lunch - the sandwiches are all solid options and the specials are always great. Enrique who runs the clubhouse is the most inviting gentleman. The course itself is still very solid. It's always busy out there but still well maintained. There is plenty of parking, and it's beautiful out on the country. Come in for a round of golf, or to enjoy a lovely lunch or a bowl of popcorn by the pool.

The planning and wedding were perfect. No hyperbole. It was truly perfect! I've never been involved with a wedding that went like this one...and I've never been to a wedding (or any other banquet or big event) that had food as good as the food the club served at her wedding. It was like dining at a fine restaurant. Every guest with whom I talked mentioned how good the food was and how nice the facility was. The venue (outside for the ceremony and inside for the reception) was beautiful and the service was first rate. (Even the weather cooperated.) Weddings start with planning and this one was no exception. My daughter started in April for a September wedding - which is a very short time for weddings these days. From the first inquiry about the club to the wedding itself, the experience was really amazing! The club's events team, headed by Veronica Lopez, and the executive chef, Chris Headding, are the best! They did a fabulous job making this the perfect wedding. Veronica is special. I could see that from our first conversation. She knew how to handle my stressed daughter perfectly. It was obvious that she genuinely wanted my daughter to have exactly the wedding that she wanted and more. Veronica made great suggestions. She also gave my daughter a list of local people who provided some of the services that the Yolo Fliers Club doesn't provide such as the photographer, DJ, and florist. That proved to be very valuable and kept the costs down considerably. My daughter picked people on the list and we couldn't be happier. Their services were better and less expensive than those my daughter found on Google, Yelp, and wedding sites. The club was decorated beautifully and everything down to the smallest detail was planned and done exceptionally well. I can highly, highly recommend the Yolo Fliers Club for your wedding.

We looked through the recommended list of vendors and found Events by Wise. I reached out to Shari and she quickly responded with all the information I needed. Shari's team consists of not only a full service catering staff but also a team of experienced individuals and coordinators- which makes them an even better full service team to hire because they understand weddings and what is required for a successful event. Shari and her team went above and beyond to assure I had no worries at all! On top of this, the price was very reasonable!! The service included more than what we were quoted for elsewhere. We were able to offer the type of service we could only dream of providing. Water, wine and champagne were served table side. Our hors d'oeuvres were served on elegant platters by Shari's team. They placed all of the chargers, plates, cutlery, napkins and menus. They assisted wherever needed and assured everything was taken care of. I decided very last minute that I wanted a champagne welcome shelf for my guests and Shari's team executed this perfectly!! Shari's team worked gracefully with my wedding planner, caterer, and the events manager to make my wedding everything I envisioned. I would 100% hire Shari and her team again! After booking with Shari, my anxiety and stress disappeared. I knew, without a doubt, that I was in capable hands and could finally relax. Thank you Shari, Meredith, Megan, Andrea, Jackie & Austin!

I recently served as Matron of Honor for a wedding coordinated by "Events by Wise," and I want to…read moreshare my observations regarding my sister's (the bride's) treatment by Shari. One major issue was the lack of personal presence. Just three days before the wedding, Shari called to inform my sister that she would not attend due to a conflicting commitment to her granddaughter's 16th birthday. Although the contract stated Shari's presence was not guaranteed, she led my sister to believe she would be there to fulfill her vision for the day. Imagine the stress the bride felt upon hearing this news! My sister was overwhelmed with worry about whether the assistants would understand her vision as she had explained it to Shari during planning meetings. As someone with a background in high-end hospitality, I find this treatment of a client (especially a bride!) unprofessional and, frankly, mean. To add to the stress, my sister could not contact the assistants directly until the day before the wedding. While the assistants did a commendable job executing the wedding, some significant components were mishandled. The bridal party arrived at the bridal suite an hour before the ceremony was set to begin, fully ready after preparing at an Airbnb. However, just 30 minutes before the ceremony, one of the coordinators informed the bride that they were still figuring out how to get her out without the groom seeing her. This detail should have been sorted out earlier, ideally during the rehearsal. The ceremony, originally scheduled for 4 PM, did not start until 4:30 PM, which felt unacceptable. The wedding coordinator's primary role should be to ensure the schedule is followed. Additionally, we felt rushed despite waiting an hour in the bridal suite. At the ceremony site, the coordinators distributed bouquets but failed to bring the flower girl's basket, a cherished family heirloom. When this was pointed out, one coordinator dismissively stated, "Don't worry about it, we don't have time to go get it." This hurried feeling persisted into the reception. When it was time for the wedding party to enter the reception for our introductions, we were told last minute that we had to use a different entrance than what had been rehearsed due to a locked door. This lack of foresight caused confusion and disrupted the flow of the entrances. Although the wedding was absolutely magical and my sister had such thoughtful and beautiful touches throughout the ceremony and reception- there were elements that did not meet her expectations and her vision. She expressed disappointment about the dessert table, which Shari had promised would be stunning. While all the wedding guests thought it was a beautiful dessert display, if the bride wasn't satisfied with it- does it really matter what others think? The situation escalated when my sister wrote an honest review expressing her disappointment. Instead of addressing the issues professionally, Shari responded defensively and attacked my sister, even including false claims that she was an hour late to her own rehearsal!! This response felt shocking and unkind. Shari never apologized or reached out to my sister to discuss what went wrong. This wedding was especially emotional for our family, as the groom's father had passed away two months prior, and we were coping with the impending loss of our beloved aunt. It would have meant a lot if Shari had shown some compassion towards my sister, even if there were changes in plans. While no wedding is perfect, when hiring professionals, you expect warmth and respect. Given my experience, I cannot recommend Events by Wise." There are many other coordinators who will honor your special day with professionalism and kindness.
