This place is 2025 16 st is called The shop on the outside but has Rendezvous Wine I believe. A little confusing so i'm guessing they are just opening. (see my before and after photos) Wine is ok however, I'm a Zen kind of person. My daughter and her friends loved the wine slushies (so good is what they said) served in a wine glass. Small place to hang out with close friends. Bad phone reception you have to come outside. Bathroom is nice and a few tables outside. Rugged I'd say!

Came to The Old Sugar Mill with Sonia C. mainly to stop into Elevation Ten for a Passport to Yolo Wineries event, but since the other participating winery, Seka Hills, was closed, the two of us made our second stop Rendez-vous. Clarksburg was also open, but I'd been there before in 2019 and I was more curious to try Rendez-vous. They had plenty of patio seating with fans and shady trees, music playing and a slight breeze. The A-frame near the entrance also said "Wine Slushies" which may or may not have drawn us in as well. Reservations required. What was neat about their setup was that you could do a flight of 5 wines for $12 (tasting waived if you purchase a bottle or if you had a membership), and they had four different flights to choose from! The White Wine Flight included a sauvignon blanc, chenin blanc, stainless steel aged chardonnay, fiano, and rose. The Red Wine Flight had a malbec, primitivo, delta dusk, tempranillo, and petit verdot. The Best Of Wine Flight had the sauvignon blanc, the rose, malbec, delta dusk, and rendez-rouge. The Sweets Flight had rendez-blanc, rendez-rouge, black label Lot 142 reserve port, bella pink port, and preserve cabernet port. They usually have curated Pairing Experience small bites/artisan snacks that pair perfectly with the choice of wine flight which you could add for $15. Examples of Pairing Experiences: White Wine and Bites (Pours+Pairings) Sauvignon Blanc + White Cheddar Chenin Blanc + Goat's Chevre infused w/ lavender & fennel pollen Stainless Steel Chardonnay + prosciutto-wrapped mozzarella panino Oaked Chardonnay + Honeycomb-infused dark chocolate Cabernet Rose + Jam on mini toast Red Wine and Bites Barbera + Prosciutto-wrapped mozzarella panino Primitivo + pomegranate vanilla cashews Delta Dusk + goat's chevre infused w/lavender and fennel pollen Petit Verdot + brie and jam on mini toast Rendez-Rouge + honeycomb infused dark chocolate Sweets and Bites Riesling + goat's chevre infused w/lavender and fennel pollen Rendez-Blanc + maple glazed pecans Rendez-Rouge + honeycomb infused dark chocolate Bella Pink Port + jam on mini toast The Preserve Port + salted dark chocolate *Best Of Bites are the same for individual whites/reds/sweets. Unfortunately the lady said that their Pairing Bites boxes were not delivered on Friday as expected so they were unavailable. Sucks to miss out but, we were welcome to grab from their selection of crackers, cheeses, meats, and jams so we got a box of garlic herb baguette crisps and a genoa/provolone combo to share ($6 each), saving room for real dinner elsewhere later on. I got the White Wine Flight and Sonia got the Best Of but substituted one of the red wines for another. My favorite was the 2019 Chenin Blanc and I did end up purchasing a bottle. Although not included in her flight choice, she was able to get a small taste of my chenin blanc. After finishing the flights, we also each tried one of the wine slushies flavors ($10.26 each): she had the fruit punch and I had the lemonade, yum! A fun experience, laid-back and "lush." They also have exclusive events such as a Summer Solstice Dinner coming up, trivia, and happy hour. They also have take-home wine flights for 2 people (5 wines, 4-oz bottles), or Experience Pairing bites to have both the wine flight and tasting food pairings (pickup or delivery). Fun fact, on this trip I earned my Yelp Bacchus Badge, in vino veritas!

My sister and I were just down the way at Elevation Ten when we saw another pair of ladies walking around with slushees and I had to try them out for myself! The gal behind the counter was super helpful and nice. We got one of each flavor - lemonade with blue raspberry and red wine. They were stroooong and delicious. Perfect for the extreme heat wave we were experiencing. They also had the cutest greenery wall with LED light! They know what's up, cause a ring light was set up for everyone to take pics! We made a quick stop in, so I'm looking forward to coming back and actually enjoying a tasting next time I'm at the Old Sugar Mill. (:

Thank you, Riley! I appreciate your generosity and easy-going customer service with me and my friend. I am now signed up for the club membership and I will be back often. Love you, girly!!!

TIPS: *Indoor and outdoor covered patio seating *Make a reservation (which will waive a tasting, confirm to make sure) *Make a purchase (which will waive a tasting, confirm to make sure) WINE TASTING: as of Mar2022 $13 for a wine flight (5 tasting) We tried the Best of, Red and Sweet flight. Red and Best of included very acidic wine in my group's opinion, which they didn't really like. Malbec being the best one out of the red for them. I really like the white Rendez-Blanc and even bought a bottle home. The Old Sugar Mill area itself has a lot of wine tasting rooms and a couple of food trucks on a weekend. Good place for small or big groups. Plenty of kids in the lawn. The vibe itself was a bit off-putting. I was wearing a mask since there were some indoor area and plenty of crowds. Someone that walked in front of me said "why are you wearing a mask? Covid is over." Just distasteful!

It was our first time at Old Sugar Mill, so I made a reservation at Rendez-vous just in case it was busy. It wasn't busy at all at 1130am but a few groups started to come in during our visit. We did a wine tasting and Laura was really helpful since we're not big wine drinkers. She offered suggestions based on our likings and as the tasting went on. Our tasting fee was waived as we purchased a bottle to take home. Would recommend!

We stopped in on a Tuesday to the Old Sugar Mill. Only this winery and another were open. They were pretty busy though we were excited to sample a flight of 5 wines for $10. We did buy a bottle of our fav to enjoy with dinner later that night and also enjoyed the frozen wine slushy before we left. Not my fav, I'll stick to the wine. We felt very welcomed when we entered and the server was extremely personable and did an excellent job hopping from group to group explaining the wines and pouring. You can also purchase or enjoy a tasting of this winery in Old Town Sacramento but other than that you will not find them in stores.

Went with a group for a birthday tasting, so we had a reservation. Great wine and nice atmosphere. Inside is kinda small but still a nice setting. Outside patio gives nice chill weekend vibes if weather is permitting. The 2022 Chenin Blanc and The Preserve port were some of my favorites. Will definitely return to purchase a case.

I was excited to hear that outdoor wine tasting is open in YOLO county. We drove 100 miles to get out, and have a change of scenery from being stucked at home due to Covid. Rendez-vous didn't disappoint. The staff were really nice and fun. Even people who were there doing the tasting were friendly. We had the red flight, and ordered cheese and meat platter. Then I saw a list of sweet wines and asked if we could taste them as well, even if they were part of a different flight. They're nice enough to let us taste two ports in addition. I'm so glad we did, coz oh boy, that Bella (pink port) was something I've never had before. We took two bottles home. And we'll come back in the Spring! Yes! It's that good. It's worth driving a hundred miles, well, two hundred miles both ways.

Great selection of tastings. 15 different wines. Something for everyone. They were pretty busy on 12/31 and turned away those w/o reservations. My wine attendant was great despite being slammed. Bought a bottle of the cab port. Yummy. Minus one star because it was freezing in there. Not all the heat lamps were on. Brrr.

I was already a member...however I came in today to pick up my shipment and was helped by the amazing Jennifer. She knew her wines and went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience here . Hands down would come back just to hang out with her. The wines are amazing and left buying 5 more bottles on top of the shipment pick up. A must visit at sugar mill and ask for Jennifer if you can.

Shoutout to the West Sacramento/ Clarksburg area…read more... The Old Sugar Mill in Clarksburg is a historic beet sugar refinery from 1934-1993 that has wine shops and tasting rooms for local wineries. They have over a dozen wineries. Wine tastings average $15 and most wineries waive the fee if you buy a bottle. They have wine shops in the main building and in the other building. Don't forget to walk back and to the right to the shops in the separate back building, there is 3-4 more wineries. Each winery are literal walled shops with their own seating areas. Temperature controlled which is nice on hot summer days. Each have their own wine tasting, food offerings, and special events. Old Sugar Mill is less than 15 minute drive from downtown Sacramento. The buildings are beautiful. They kept the historic brick walls and exterior. It has a modern shabby chic look. Three different brands owned the refinery. It all began in 1934 with Amalgamated, American Crystal Sugar Factory (1936-1982), and Delta Sugar (1983-1993). The sugar was refined by local Northern Californian grown beets. The buildings was renovated in 2000 for its current use. Awesome concept and beautiful architecture design. They also host weddings and events. They have a banquet room with slideshow equipment. There is also an outdoor lawn and adjoining paved patio area that is shaded in the afternoon by the buildings that would make for a gorgeous wedding venue. On hot summer days, the Delta breeze kicks in for instant cool down. No outside food are picnics are allowed. On the weekends, they have food trucks. Plus the majority of the wineries sell food (appetizers) as well. Also no pets are allowed (excluding service animals). The restrooms are located right by the front entrance.

They have many events here, including private events and wedding. The upcoming event is Port and Chocolate for Valentine's Day. That sounds so delicious. I loved chocolate and my husband is always up to trying another port. Parking- They have a private lot and we were able to easily find a parking spot right in-front of the entrance. Bathrooms- They have many stalls in the bathroom located to the left of the entrance. Temperature- It's cool inside, a little too cool for us today. It was 63 degrees out today and warm in the sun. I bet in the sweltering heat of our summers this is the perfect place to be. The Sugar Mill is an indoor venue. They have three different building with different wineries at this time. So, there is a little walking outside. Wine Barrels- You can buy half wine barrels for your garden for sale. Seating- They have lots of little seating areas. Inside they have a whole room with seating and nice decor. The tables are draped in white table cloths and there are stacks of wine barrels as the back drop. They have a palm court in the back and it's so quaint and beautiful. Perfect for sipping some wine slowly and chit chatting with friends. If you are looking to sit in the sun there is are a set of tables and chairs out back near the food truck. Ambiance- I love the location and building. It's an old Sugar Mill that produced sugar from sugar beets. That industry has now ended and it's now a place to visit many wineries. It's the only place that I know of that have numerous wineries and offer wine tasing for a minimum fee.

We were especially pleased by how much was included in the venue package that we didn't have to coordinate separately, like lighting, tables, and chairs. Shaye was an absolute delight to work with and we always felt cared for. As a queer couple, it was so nice to feel welcomed and accepted by Scribner Bend and all of their preferred vendors we spoke with. May was the perfect time to be there, the white roses on the arches were in bloom which complemented the rest of our florals beautifully. Our whole day flowed so smoothly thanks to Deija, our day-of planner provided by Scribner Bend, and all of the rest of the staff. All of our guests were so complimentary of the wine, the setting, and the flow of the evening. We really could not have wished for a better venue experience. We also want to note, Paesanos was an exceptional caterer! I know some might be concerned with not having a choice of caterer but we found it to be a relief (one less vendor to coordinate) and Paesanos did a fantastic job. Rain was amazing at communication, and Diana was wonderful to work with on the day. They even packed up a couple of containers of leftovers for us to go home with. And it is a source of great pride to find our local, Greater Sacramento-Delta Bogle wines when we travel outside of California or USA. In fact, we were thrilled to enjoy a bottle in Shanghai, China! But we had never been to the Bogle Family Ranch and Vineyards outside of Clarksburg, CA. We finally reserved a couple of hours to visit the winery - and can't say enough good things! We enjoyed several, terrific wines not available in our local stores - such as their delicious Sparkling Rose! But more importantly, experienced a lovely afternoon on the BEAUTIFUL Bogle Family Ranch grounds! Everything around us was green and gorgeous; with cool breezes due to the surrounding water of the Sacramento River. The picnic tables were warm and inviting. The snacks were great (we brought a picnic lunch). And EVERY employee with which we spoke was excited to educate and inspire us - taking great pride in Bogle Family's six generations of Delta farming; sincere commitment to sustainability and the community; and vision of how the family plans to continue the winery's growth and international expansion, while maintaining its commitment to winemaking excellence. Every staff member that we met had been Bogle employees for over 10 years at least (a couple over 30!). I think it really says a lot about a company and family when their employees promote and compliment - even when the bosses are not in the room! While we had originally planned just a one-time visit to the Bogle vineyards, we left as Bogle Family Wine Club Members. The wine and property are lovely -- unfortunately the welcome at the door felt like an audition for "Most Judgmental Winery Greeter." When we walked in, the woman at the front greeted us with a slow head-to-toe scan before even saying hello. For context, we weren't exactly stumbling in from a river float -- Patagonia, designer black jeans, nice casual wine-country attire. My partner was dressed similarly. Completely normal for a winery visit. Since it was my first time there, I asked where we should go. She informed us -- while continuing the visual inspection -- that upstairs was reserved for more formally dressed guests with reservations. The upstairs area, by the way, was completely empty. She then told us we could "go help ourselves around the corner." The tone was less "welcome to wine country" and more "you appear to be beneath the staircase." Honestly, I've been to plenty of wineries, from casual tasting rooms to higher-end spots, and I've never been greeted with that level of instant judgment. It was oddly hostile for a place that literally sells a beverage meant for relaxing. The ironic part is that after getting past that moment, the rest of the experience was actually nice. The wine was good, the grounds are pretty, and the other staff we interacted with were perfectly pleasant. But that initial interaction? Brutal. If first impressions matter (and they do in hospitality), someone might want to let the front door know that sizing people up like a nightclub bouncer at 1am isn't exactly the warm, welcoming winery vibe most people are hoping for. Great wine. Beautiful place. One spectacularly toxic greeting.

Bonus: they even have a cozy corner dedicated to adoptable cats: each with their own name and personality profile. Currently 3 boys and 1 girl, $150 per cat.

My friend and I were originally there for an event at i their tasting room but since we had the afternoon free I had to introduce her my favorite spot. It was the middle of a Saturday afternoon and we were able to be sat immediately. They had recently partnered with Country Roads and offered a tasting off of that menu which I consult resist since I taste Clarksburg Wine Co all the time. I was so excited and the wines lived up to my expectation. The list offered 8 wines of which I was able to pick 5 for $15. The tasting is waived if you purchase a bottle to which I bought two. We had a wonderful time enjoying the chill atmosphere and tasty wines. Very impressive as always and I can't wait to go back.

They claim to have the best Chenin Blanc and admittedly it was very good! Got a bottle of that and the Delta Rose at reasonable prices after the tastings. They appear to keep the place very clean with hand sanitizer abundantly available and have a nice large space with several tables for tastings. Chad was a great host and very knowledgeable about all of the wines that he poured for us and we got to sample several of them off the list! I would absolutely come back and visit again after the great experience I had with my friend.
