She transformed a businesslike boardroom into a magical place for a ceremony. She provided the tables, chairs, curtains, most of the decorations, and did the floral pieces as well. She coordinated with our vendors and helped make the ceremony and luncheon one that my parents and their guests will remember forever. DO NOT USE LINA. TERRIBLE SERVICE!! Many many things went wrong throughout the coarse of our wedding after spending over $10k with Lina and a year planning... Once we eventually got our photos back we could see just how badly she had done. She used fake flowers when we paid for real, used the literal cheapest decor everywhere possible. We were sold a dream and were left with unlit tacky candles, plastic walls, exposed sand bags and BARE minimum decor. Practically everything she did for us was CHEAP and TACKY. She lied to us about having "a team" when it was just her husband and son that evening. When we reached out for a refund she agreed (clearly she knew she didn't do a good job) but when it was time to pay us she ghosted us for a year despite multiple efforts. Stay far away!!! read more

I am sharing our experience to help future couples avoid the stress and disappointment we are going through. We hired Lina in July for our November wedding. We knew the timeline was tight, but she confidently reassured us that she could handle everything and that we would begin right away. We paid her 50% deposit, and shortly after she requested the remaining 50%, stating that her policy requires full payment 120 days before the wedding. Believing vendors needed to be booked immediately, we paid her in full. As soon as she was fully paid, communication declined drastically. She promised weekly meetings, but from July until now, we only had 2 in-person meetings and 3 phone calls total. Texts were barely answered. During a venue walkthrough, I asked for additional draping and décor not included in her package. She later told me the draping vendor had responded, the price was good, and we needed to book right away because other inquiries had come in for our date. She texted me again pushing for an answer. I asked for more details -- examples of work, Instagram -- which she sent, but I needed some time to discuss with my fiancé because it was a few thousand dollars. Shortly after, she texted saying she already paid the vendor because she "was in the area," and told me to Zelle her immediately. We had not formally approved it, but we trusted her and sent the money. The week before my wedding, we were scheduled to meet at the venue for a final layout. Two hours before, she canceled, saying she was in the hospital. We were sympathetic -- truly -- and worried for her, but also panicked because nothing was finalized except table décor. She said she would update me later that day; she didn't. I texted Friday -- no response. I texted Saturday -- no response, until I explained I was stressed with my wedding one week away. She replied briefly, saying her team would handle everything if I emailed them. I emailed the full list the same day. I have not heard from her since. No text, no call, no email. Since she wasn't responding, I contacted the draping vendor directly -- the one she said she booked and paid. Thankfully, the vendor answered and confirmed she had NOTHING scheduled for our date. Lina had only asked for a quote and never booked or paid anything. Meanwhile, while I was reaching out desperately about my wedding week-of, she continued posting Black Friday sales and promotions for new clients on Instagram. Seeing her advertise for new business while ignoring the clients she already has -- especially one getting married in days -- was extremely frustrating and unprofessional. We have spoken to other past clients who shared similar experiences: communication stops and is followed by a medical emergency, illness in the family, or sudden crisis. Reviews online show the same pattern. While we are truly sympathetic to anyone facing health issues, it is concerning that this explanation appears repeatedly when responsibilities or deadlines come up. We also notified our vendors, and several of them -- who happen to share mutual contacts with her -- confirmed they have heard similar concerns and are willing to speak up. But at the end of the day, we are not trying to harm her -- we simply want our money back. However, if she continues to keep over $20,000 of our wedding funds and refuses to respond, we will have no choice but to take the appropriate steps to recover our loss. DO NOT BOOK WITH HER. I was super excited to work with Lina. I met her at the Wedding Walk that Lincoln Center hosted at the beginning of the year. When my fiancé and I decided it was time to start planning our wedding, she was one of the first vendors I reached out to. In mid-October I booked a consultation for the following month, filled out a questionnaire, and paid the $50 consultation fee. A couple weeks went by and I got an email from Lina stating that she had been in the hospital with COVID/pneumonia and was then going to be out of state for 3 weeks and needed to reschedule my consultation. Cool...totally fine. My time is super limited, so the only time I could do before the end of the year was the following Friday. She emailed back a few days later asking what the earliest time I could do that day was. Assuming that we were going to meet that following Friday, I cancelled an appointment after her email and made myself available for the day. After that, she went silent. On the day I had thought we were going to meet, I still had not heard from her. I emailed her that I no longer felt comfortable moving forward with her and I wanted to have my consultation fee refunded. She emailed back immediately stating that she would process the refund and that her father was in the hospital and was being moved into hospice and her time and attention was being focused somewhere else. While I completely understand and have sympathy for her situation, I find it interesting and frustrating that she was still able to post multiple Instagram stories and pictures on a daily basis during nearly a week of disregarding me and responded within EIGHT MINUTES when I voiced that I wasn't going to be using her services. After 4 weeks I still had not received my refund. I emailed her about it again in the hopes of not having to waste my time requesting a chargeback from my bank. I received a rather blunt response stating that she would "look into it". It has been a few days and surprise, surprise...no response or refund. For someone who preaches that her time is precious and valuable, she sure doesn't care about wasting others. I understand life happens, but for me...I need a vendor who can effectively communicate in a timely manner and not leave you in the dark for days or weeks at a time. I was actually unsure if they were hers or one of those beautiful photos you find on Pinterest of dessert tables! Luckily for us, it was all her! From the get-go, Lina was incredible with her communication and responses, and also creating exactly what I had envisioned for our table. I sent her some inspiration photos of wedding décor and color scheme, and she took those and ran with them to create us an amazing dessert table that WOW'd us, and our guests! She even works with bakeries to provide desserts!!!! I gave her a list of desserts and general amount of guests that would be attending, and she completely went above and beyond with the displays of those desserts. We and our guests could not be happier with the yummy desserts, as well as the presentation she provided us for our wedding. She was prompt to set up, I didn't even get to meet her until AFTER the wedding, when she came back to pick up her supplies. We used Lina for our engagement party. It was a sit down catered event in the grove at Jesses grove winery. I cannot recommend her for the folllowing reasons: 1-she charges you a nonrefundable fee to meet her to see if you even want to hire her. She does not apply the amount to your bill when you hire her. 2- her communication is terrible. You will wonder if the event is even going to happen because she will not return phone calls, emails, text messages until you're under the wire or get mad. 3- your plans will not be executed without a hitch. The day before our event she realize she didn't add silverware to the order and charged us through the nose to go and buy silverware. She then forgot to put it on the table. So we spent our evening looking for the silverware that was left in the barn and had to hand it to our 50 guests. It was very embarrassing. Also the tables were to be set without the plates because the caterer needed them to serve off of. The table was set with the plates so again we had to walk around asking people for their plates to hand them to the caterers. again very embarrassing for a high end event. 4-our dessert table was $500 which had 24 cupcakes and some bad candy on it. It was not enough for 50 people. 5-she promised us a photographer to walk around taking candid shots. Instead we got a man that came before the event to take pictures for her website which she posted with pictures of me without asking my permission first. 6-after the party I tried to coordinate with her to get some of my expensive Decour back and to this date have still not to get it for me. She told me that I could drop off her stuff on her porch but she made no attempt after paying her so much money to give me back my items. Very bad taste! 7- she is full of excuses as to why she can't do something or return my calls. Namely that she is just so busy with other events. 8-she crammed our guests in to the tables 5 on each side. They were uncomfortable and some moved and are holding on to their plates in their lap. The two stars is because even through it all it looked pretty and the event went well. Not sure if it was because of her planning or mine but I'll give her some credit for it. At least I didn't have to set up the dishes and decor myself. ProtiP: Save the stress and hire someone else. In reply to her comment below: i didn't write this 4 months later. You just were checked out for 4 months proving my point that you are "too busy" to be bothered by any one event and thus make a mess of all of them! Please read my first review, as this review is just in response to Lina's reply. I attached photos to support this reply. I crossed out names/numbers/etc. for privacy reasons. So let's address Lina's concerns: 1.) She mentions that she gave me a $1500 discount. So when Lina first sent me an invoice, there were 12 items on there that she was initially charging me for. And with those 12 items, she was charging $1500 for complete installation of decor and rentals. As mentioned in my first review, we decided to only have Lina do the day of coordinating, the ceiling drape, dessert table, and table linen rentals. So we cut that list from 12 items, down to 4 (technically 3 if we're looking specifically at decor and rentals). I do send an email asking if there's a way to adjust the pricing for the installation of decor and rentals. I even say "I understand if you have a standard pricing for that though. The reason I'm asking is because we're having a hard time wrapping our head around paying $1500 for the ceiling drape and linens." Lina does reply with "I can definitely adjust the installation and labor fee if you are only ordering linens and ceiling drapery." Keep in mind that the ceiling drape and linens had their own separate cost, and that the installation fee was an additional cost on top of that. So would you not agree that it'd make sense to decrease the installation fee if we significantly decreased the amount of work we wanted you to do? Anyways, Lina did decrease the $1500 down to $500. And even with the first invoice, she had already applied a $500 discount, which I didn't even ask for. So yes, in total, it was a $1500 "discount". My point is, I simply asked if she could adjust the installation fee, understandably so, I would think. And I was truly appreciative to Lina for that. But that still doesn't excuse Lina's lack of communication, as well as the fact that she didn't follow my requests when it came to what I wanted in terms of the decor. Also, Lina stated that I repeatedly made changes to my invoice that she "didn't have to accommodate but I did." Umm, I only made changes to the invoice twice? If that's too taxing for you, then wow. Also, if you read her email, it clearly states "Please also email me any changes, substitutions or removals you would like to make to your quote." I made changes to the invoice before I even made a deposit. I could understand her frustration if I had made changes to the invoice after everything was set in stone, and a deposit had been made. But that was not the case at all. 2.) I'm only finding this out now, but I didn't even know that the drapes were installed on Friday (my wedding was on a Saturday). So thank you Lina for calling yourself out and letting everyone know that you didn't inform me that the drapes were installed on Friday (another example of her lack of communication). Otherwise, of course I would have said something in order to have it fixed. In my first review, I mentioned how I texted Lina on Saturday asking her for a picture of the reception (she didn't bother to take the initiative to send me pictures). I had sent her a text while I was on my way to the ceremony, and I didn't even see the picture of the drape until way AFTER the ceremony. So at that point, there was no time to have it fixed. 3.) Now THIS one really boggles my mind. She says that I refused to provide her with any of my vendors' information. I hired Lina to do my day of coordinating. Now can someone please explain to me why I would refuse to provide my vendors' information to my day of coordinator? There's no logical explanation, right? And that's because this is absolutely untrue. I'm seriously laughing at how ridiculous this is. Please, just see the attached photo and you'll see that I sent a text with the vendor names/numbers. 4.) Lina wishes I reached out to her directly before "bashing" her online. In my mind, everything had already been said and done. I paid for services that I was not satisfied with (everything was paid in full before my wedding). I don't see how it could have been made right at this point when the event that I hired Lina for has come and gone. Also, Lina says that she's "Attaching photos if I can to controdict [sic] her false claims." Not one thing I have written is false, so I'm really curious to know what these "false claims" are. Please do attach photos. Everything that I have written is absolutely true. I didn't over exaggerate anything; I simply wrote what I experienced. So if this is considered "bashing" to you Lina, even though everything is completely factual, then maybe you need to take a step back and re-evaluate your services. You're only a victim of your own actions. So, my fellow Yelpers, I simply wanted to share my experience in the hope of helping others. I wouldn't have written a novel if all of this was false. Writing this review as a guest of a recent wedding. First off, yes the venue she decorated was beautiful however, the cons outweigh the one pro in this case. This lady and her crew are rude AF. I personally saw her talk aggressively to many guest, including the bride and groom's family. For instance, the bride's mother decorated and made the dessert table herself. I was sitting next to that table and it was beautiful. When the bride's mom was placing desserts at the table, this lady yelled at her and told mom to sit down. Then I saw and heard her yell at dad when he was going to step outside to get something. This is not her wedding to be yelling at guest let alone the bride's parents. During the reception, I saw both bride and groom's mom passing out thank you gifts to the guest. These gifts were inside a white box. As her team were cleaning up, they were just throwing everything away. These are obviously things you can put aside or just leave on the tables. I noticed them throwing them away and saw the mine was gone. When I went to ask them why they are just throwing these things away, the guy said "you should pick up your stuff." Money was spent on these things, you don't just throw them away. As I was reading the reviews, I noticed one say that she took some personal decorations from another bride that she never received back. I heard that is what happened with this wedding too. Apparently her crew picked up some of the bride and groom's personal decorations to which they have reached out to get back but no action on her part has been made. It really seems like she gets paid and does whatever TF she wants after. I'm sorry, but if a guest is noticing all of these mistakes and rude actions I can't imagine what the bride and groom saw. I know this bride and she is just way too kind to write a review herself. I hate that her and the groom got taken advantage of, and that her family was treated so horribly by this woman. We just had a beautiful wedding this past June. It's hard to put into words how amazing Lina is. As a person she is kind, genuine, & respectful. As a wedding coordinator, she is the best! I seriously don't know what we would have done without her! All of the inventory was in great condition. I came across Unique Events by Lina via an internet search and someone local recommended her. Oh my, let me say she is horrible at responding back and so unprofessional. You can't call ahead or check her schedule for your available date. You have to book online to have a consultation with her. I booked an appointment and paid $100. The morning of my consultation she text me saying she was exposed to COVID and needed to reschedule for later in the week or early the following week. I texted her right away being sympathetic about her situation and provided her dates. She then went silent and didn't hear from her. Then she sent me a text late at night asking if I can meet on a day she didn't offer at first. The crazy thing she allegedly got exposed to COVID and can't text on a timely manner but yet she was very active on her social media posting things but couldn't text back? This canceling because of COVID seems to be her thing as I saw another review with a similar experience . I guess that's how she gets you and steals your money. My sister got married 2 years before me and the moment she knew Antonio and I were engaged she insisted that we check out Lina. She had gone to a quinceñera she decorated and fell in love and wished she would have been able to have her for her own wedding. Me being a very particular person when it comes to small details and decor, I was hesitant because I knew if I hired an event coordinator it needed to be someone who had an eye to detail like me and that also understood our earthy environmentally friendly concept. For our consultation I had printed out a mood board for Lina of what I wanted our wedding to look like and the vibe we were going for. She understood it immediately and I knew she'd be perfect for our big day! And let me tell you she DID NOT disappoint! Not only did she understand our vision but she was so flexible with us and her payment options really did save us! I've never heard of an event planner to be so accommodating, it was amazing. Now, the day of was such a breeze and that's something I was sooo worried about because I knew I wouldn't be able to help or oversee anything but I literally had not one thing to worry about. I was planning my wedding from Las Vegas Nevada to be held in Stockton California. Lina was very supportive throughout the whole process. There were some things that I could not decide on and would take off from the wedding and decided to add back on later and she was flexible with all of my changes up until the week of the wedding. Because I was in Las Vegas, Lina did a lot of the legwork for me. She would meet with vendors, the church and supply them with items that they needed or requested. She even made the CD for my music for me. She attended the rehearsal and helped coordinate the wedding party and myself with where to stand and how to walk down the aisle. Lina was a life saver. My original florist pulled out a week and a half before the wedding and Lina was able to secure florals for myself in my wedding party to have the day of the wedding. Also, the event location double booked and we needed an alternate outdoor space for photos and Lina gave us wonderful suggestions. At the last minute we realized with their location changes we would need transportation for all 15 of us and Lina was able to put us in touch with a party bus company that worked with our budget and timeline. Having her there the day of the wedding was so wonderful. She was able to act as a shield for me and my husband so when things came up she took care of them without our even knowing. It was very nice because he and I were able to enjoy the day. I did read some reviews where they talked about the lack of communication. I personally did not have this issue, but I understood the nature of her work and it does involve a lot of in person meetings with clients and vendors and I would allow grace for her to contact me. Lina & Her Crew made our 8/10/19 wedding an AMAZING night that no words could EVER explain besides JUST WOW 5 stars is not enough! Our wedding was BEYOND our vision & the day just went so smooth that it felt like a fairytale. It started off good, Lina met with us for an event. She said she would give us a quote in a couple days after meeting but never heard from her. So I tried to reach out to her and ask about the quote but still nothing. So I tried contacting her through her Facebook business account because I know she's active on there so I figured she would respond but nope!! Poor customer service! Without question a great experience all around. Linas attention to detail is exquisite. I'm truly not the decorating type(there is no inner Martha Stewart in me), so it's best to hand it over to the professionals, Lina was nothing short of amazing. Very disappointed! Made several attempts to contact Lina (over a course of 2 months) with no success. She never returned any of my voicemails. I'm a firm believer in thing happen for a reason.
