We got an estimate from Andersen (less the storm door). Their products and installation method were top-notch, but so was their estimated price! So we wanted something more economical. After some research we heard Milgard windows using an "retrofit" installation would be more in our price range. We also wanted a window/door-installation company that gave us a good price estimate (1/3 the cost of Andersen), was in our locale (Tri-Valley) , and had 5-star rating already. So we were happy to find Cal Coast that met those criteria. The initial estimate process was straightforward. Our estimator was friendly and efficient. The format of the estimate came in digital PDF format. It was easy to print, and the details and layout were very helpful with diagrams of what the windows and door would look like with dimensions. One measurement for one window was slightly off. I mentioned that to my estimator. He assured me that was not a problem because if I accepted their estimate, then the next step was for another technician would come out to the house to re-measure the windows more accurately and in more detail. We did accept the estimate, and indeed another technician came out to do detailed measurements. Then we received a revised and more detailed contract in that same great layout! The estimator kindly set our expectations that our windows and door were going to take 5-6 weeks to custom manufacture and about 1 to 2 days to install. Those timings were right on target, which helped us in planning other events in our life. Installation only took 1 day! The crew was great - courteous, hard working, and efficient. They put foam insulation in the space between our window frames and the new windows. The caulking work was professional. I was pleased. And the crew cleaned up after themselves perfectly. Another thing I was pleased with was Cal Coast's production manager helped me apply and get my city building permit for the new windows. The day of installation, the foreman handed me a nice folder with the printed permit with other instructions. I really appreciated that. Also after installation she worked with my city building department to schedule a final inspection by a city inspector. When the inspector came out, because the product and installation were superb, it passed with no problem. Of course, I paid a little more to have this permit processing service, but it was well worth it. Finally, as you can tell from this rather long review, I'm very pleased with our experience with Cal Coast and the Milgard products. I add my 5-star review to others that have gone before me for Cal Coast!

The windows were replaced 14 years ago in one day and we had many custom sized windows. The amazing thing is they know exactly which window that cracked by us describing the location of the window. Anlin Delmar (Milgard) called us and setup the appointment. They came and replaced the windows in a few hours. It was amazing and we're extremely happy. Our sliding screen door has been operating poorly since we bought our house. The other day, it jammed so bad we couldn't close it. I was expecting to replace it, and since it is an odd size, expected it to be expensive. Cory took a look at it and said he could just repair it, which he did, together with repairing a window screen that was bent. He did the work quickly and was very affordable. Cory showed up early and re-screened 2 window screens and a sliding door screen. The screens were decades old and had bent frames and missing parts. In an hour he repaired the frames, replaced missing parts, installed new screens, even cleaned them. He is very detailed oriented. The old screen frames were hard to get out and hard to get back in, but he did it. He is very friendly, easy going, flexible. Cory came out one day and did all the screens for our house on location! We had about 2 old screens that he was able to just re-screen over the old frame, and then he made us 12 more from scratch. The screens fit good and Cory was a pleasure to work with. If we ever need another screen he will be the first guy we hit up, but I'm sure these screens are going to last a long time. read more

Jacob quoted me $850 to replace 4 rollers from my glass patio doors and make adjustments to another patio door. Overpriced, but I need an expert so I didn't mind paying. First day of the job, the new rollers didn't fit and he damaged my walls while removing the trim, so he had to come back, which is ok. I was very patient with him. Second day, he got the rollers replaced but he did not re-install the trim. He keeps saying that he will get the walls fixed. After he replaced the rollers, he left and said that his guys will come back in a day or two to fix the walls and put the trim back. After going back and forth for a week, no one showed up. I told him to give me partial refund so that I can hire a handyman to fix his mess, we agreed to $100 partial refund out of principle. Five days later, no response. I like to support local contractors and I am respectful and patient with them. But Jacob took advantage of my kindness and patience. I normally do not write bad reviews but it had to be done to inform potential future customers. Jacob keeps saying he is a general contractor but unable to put the trim and fix my wall. Pictures of his work is included in this review. Jacob is a terrible contractor. Don't make the same mistake I did, get multiple bids for your project and don't hire Jacob.
