Shady business. Period. We too found Screen & Shade Solutions at the Home and Garden Show at Cal Expo. Everything went very well during the purchase and installation of a sliding screen door and we were very satisfied with our experience... And then the door broke. After far too many attempts to contact this company and owner (via voice messages and emails) to hold them to their WARRANTY, we finally decided to accept the loss and move on. We were never able to get anyone to contact us over the course of several weeks. AT ALL...Of course! As I read the great reviews others have posted, I could relate. Unfortunately, our door no longer works and the company just simply would not provide the customer service promised up front. I feel so scammed by this company and highly recommend consumers to look elsewhere for the same door products. They took our money and ran for the hills! Bad business. read more

I'm not sure how this unhinged a--hole Wayde stays in business. After fighting several poorly constructed screen doors at my house for the past 5 years, I was very interested in the retractable screen doors I saw at the Fair, and also the $1300 security door for my garage side door. I left my info with his rep at the booth, and Wayde followed up with a call. One of my patio doors is two sliding doors that meet in the middle, which was not demonstrated in the booth. Early in the call, I asked him how the retractable screens work with this style door. He replied with several statements I found confusing - something about pins and different possible measurements. I explained I didn't fully understand, and asked if the two screens meet in the middle and latch together like the sliding doors do, or if they have to install a bar for them to latch in to. He started to get agitated, so I asked if we could set up time that he could measure and show me how the product works. He flipped and went on a rant. Asked me if I had done my shopping yet. Excuse me? He said if I'm not done shopping, finish my shopping and then call him. In spring and summer, he doesn't come out to measure for estimates, he comes out to write work orders. He's not scared of his competitors because he knows he's got the best price, as matter of fact he THANKS his competitors. If I want their names, he's happy to give them to me. I was stunned. Dude, really - who pissed in your Cheerios? I replied that this is the first time I had seen this product, I hadn't even thought about shopping - I was just simply trying to understand how his product works with my doors since it wasn't demonstrated in his booth - but, I said, you are awfully aggressive and I really can't work with your attitude. This is a terrible customer experience. Their product lacks durability and when it breaks there is absolutely no support. No one calls you back after weeks of trying. If you are a new customer, run. Run as fast as you can. There are far better products and services out there. read more

Like a lot of those who left reviews, we too found Screen and Shade Solutions at the Home and Garden Show at Cal Expo. Wayde Hubbard was the sales person to greet us and we hit it off right away. Naturally, all sales people have that indistinguishable personality and suggest that they have the best product and Customer Service. A couple years back we fell in love with the front door security screen. We as well as others have had many complements on it. At the same time we asked Wayde in the middle of the screen door installation about a window sun shade. He didn't miss a beat. He came out, measured and a couple weeks later that screen was installed. At the time, we were unaware that Screen and Shade did Patio covers as well. At the end of 2016 we started rounding up our estimates for a Patio cover. Long/short, we went with Screen and Shade because we trusted Wayde so much. He doesn't talk to you like he is trying to sell you something, rather he talks to you like you've been friends for years. Very laid back, honest and up front. We love that. Wayde put us in contact with his Foreman John Perez, yet another outstanding employee who has been with the company for 10 years. Between Wayde and John, they did all of the communication and coordinating with our concrete guy (Roque Romero). We just sat back, waited for the rain to stop and watched it all come together. The cover looks great and we are completely satisfied with everything. We HIGHLY recommend Screen and Shade but remember; they do Patio Covers also. Found them at Auburn Home Show three years ago. Superior product! Ryan easy to do business with. Had an initial delay with manufacture but installation was fine. Had a small problem recently with lock, Ryan was able to fix it and showed me how to prevent problem in future. I recommend these doors and this business to all my friends and neighbors. Horrible follow up. "sold us" at the home and garden show for a retractable screen so that our pets will stay in the house. The screen is so flemsy that in five minutes our cat was underneath it and out the door. He then promised to order us a "pet screen". We followed up MULTIPLE times over MANY months - all the way up until the following year. Always a promise "I'll get that right to you" - NEVER happened. Do not use! read more

But unfortunately it no longer works and we, after more than four attempts (I've lost count between calls and text messages), can't get them to come out and repair it. I saw this company at the home show at Cal Expo in Sacramento. Wayde came out and measured and ordered the retractable screen door for my rear slider, which took a long time to get (ordered 10/16/2019 installed 12/31/2019). After installation we used the screen minimally and in March of 2020 I noticed the top of the screen sagging outward. I immediately called screen and shade solutions and left a message on an answering machine requesting warranty service. This went on for several months with my wife and I each calling and emailing requesting service whenever their answering machine wasn't full. With the Covid 19 thing going on, we weren't even sure if they were open. Finally my wife contacted Wayde the sales person and he assured her the service department would call, which they never did. Finally after emailing Wayde several more times I finally received a call from the service department on Thursday September 10th, 2020, seven months after my original call. They came out on Friday September 11th, 2020 to service my screen door. The Technician took the door apart and found the screen had become detached at the roller at the top of the screen door. He glued the screen back on the roller and told me, the roller assembly might need to be replaced, which would cost me $100.00. I told him I wasn't happy at all and it should be under Warranty. That is a lot of aggravation for a screen door that cost me $390.39. I guess just another cheap lesson in life! read more

I was waiting to write this review until I received a refund for our deposit. We ordered a retractable screen door mid-July. We were told that it would take 3-6 weeks for the door to be manufactured and that they would be in touch for an install date. No communication was given after we gave them the deposit. Called mid-Aug, called again mid-Sept. Was told that due to Covid things were delayed. I am fine with that, but there was no communication on their part to give us this information. Finally scheduled an install for Sept. 30. Ryan was a no show and did not even call. He did call the next day saying that we need to schedule for our install. After explaining to Ryan that we waited all afternoon for him the day before, he gave an excuse about his truck breaking down. Again, fine as long as you communicate. He said he would text me the next day to figure out an install date. Text never came. Finally asked for refund on Oct. 4. There were many phone calls and messages left by me, only one return phone call by them. Our refund check finally came Dec. 20, a little over 6 months to the date that we ordered our screen door. If I had read the reviews before making our decision, we would NOT have gone with this company. read more

Was promised installation of my order in 4 to 5 weeks. Finally got installation at about 8+ weeks and after many many calls complaining and asking for an installation date & finally threatening to cancel my order. I suspect they forgot to place my order originally. But instead of just explaining their mistake, apologizing, and giving me the straight story on installation....they strung me along for weeks. They also bold faced lied to me. They kept telling me my shade screen order had been held up by my security screen order which takes longer because the manufacturer had decided to ship the entire order together. There are multiple reasons this doesn't hold water. First, both products are not manufactured by the same company. Second, they told me over and over the security screen would take 5 weeks, it took 8. Lastly, the last day I spoke with the owner Ryan on the phone and finally got an installation date, I was told that my shade screen order was in and he was looking at them while we spoke, but that my security screen wasn't there yet but he expected it the next business day.....wait.....I thought the hold up for the shade screens was that they were being shipped with the security screen?? Guess not. We were at 6 & 7 weeks out from my order and Ryan, the owner's favorite thing to say every time I called was, "Ya, those security screens are taking a good 5 weeks." Ya, ok Ryan...that's great because it's been 7 weeks & you still can't simply give me a hard install date. The installation date was important to me because the rooms I was putting screens on are very hot rooms and they are being remolded and company is coming to stay in them soon. I told them upon ordering (end of April) how important it was to me to get my order installed by mid June. Well, after my pestering and threatening, we finally got them in a few days before my company arrived. I found another local company who sells both the same products. They told me they could have shade screens within 2 to 3 days (same brand) and a security screen within 2 weeks. They are not the most professional when dealing with customers. The first time I called they couldn't find my order (that's why I suspect they had forgotten to place it in the first place). Subsequent calls were full of miscommunication and excuses about the owner being on vacation (do I care? no) The same excuses would be given over and over on each call as if they forgot they told me that the last time. When I left a message, Ryan would call back, but then whenever I was on the phone with him or someone else and they would say we will call you back.....crickets....nothing until I called again. Look, mistakes happen. I am not an unreasonable person & I'm far more likely to understand and give grace when someone just copes to the mistake, apologizes and hey...if you really want to wooo me as a customer, offer something for my inconvenience. But stringing me along....not calling when you say you are going to call, not communicating, giving me dumb excuses that don't hold water and especially lying....that's going to twerp me off big time. One thing S&SS was very quick and on the ball about??? Cashing my check. Went through the same day I gave it to them. All that said, so far the products seem fine. Not so sure how well the shade screens are going to work, but we like the security door. read more

In late December they finally called me and said the doors would be installed by the end of the year. Here it is early January and I have no doors. I had my retractable screens put in two years ago by Screen & Shade Solutions and they now need service. I have been having trouble getting them to call me back and when I was able to make contact they set up a day and did not show up or even call. It now has been another week without any communication. They do not return calls and the texts I send (per Ryan) does not get any where either. I do not recommend this company. They do not stand behind their products or their word. read more

Found this company at the Cal Expo home and garden show, along with a few others, this was the most reasonable price. I purchased two Security sliding screen doors, one for my master bedroom along with the 80% sun block protection screen over the glass part, I have noticed the difference in blocking out the heat, I cannot remember if they offered any stronger protection, but if they did I wish I would have gotten it stronger for both the screen door and screen, the other door went for the living room, I have a patio cover over living room doors so no need for the sun screen over the glass part. After the measurements and ordering, it did take a while but I was in no hurry, they do have to have the door custom made. Once the doors were installed he went over on how to lock etc. I tried myself while they were still there, the living room door had a little slam to it, he said that is because of the track and the size of the door. A few days later I found I had to slam it harder to shut it, then it would not even lock, I made a phone call and they returned pretty quick to repair the problem, at that time I noticed gaps along the area between the the glass and the doors,big enough for critters to come in, I mentioned to them, and he put some calking. They did fix the lock and the slam, but then a few days later I had to again slam it harder to shut, I gave them another call and they sent someone who did not do those type of repairs, he said he would have someone call me and set up a date to come to repair, it did take a while for someone to call me back, I finally called and somehow there was some miscommunication there was not record of my request, so they were out the next day and finally had the problem resolved. I am satisfied with the doors and have to say with the service, they were very apologetic and stood by their word that they made sure that I was satisfied with their product. We went to the Cal Expo Home Show on January 30th 2016. Talk to Ryan (Owner) about a security door and possibly screens. Ryan gave me the cost of the security door including tax and installation right there at the home show. He was straight forward and never tried to up sale my wife and I. I even asked him if he would install a new front door handle for us if we bought one. Not only did he say yes, he did it at no extra cost. Ryan told us that the security door would take 5-6 weeks to be made and he would wait to do the shades at the same time as the door (which made sense to me) instead of having to come out twice. Ryan and his brother Daryl came out on 2-17-16 which was ONLY a little over 2 weeks from the date of the home show. They were very professional and polite while they were here. They did an AMAZING job installing the security door, screens and new door handle. I highly recommend this company. If you are in need of security doors or screens, I would not hesitate to give Ryan a call. I even was complimented multiple times a few days after they were installed on how nice they looked (from another service repairman that was doing some work at our house).
