I reached out to him after realizing I needed a drainage pro who really understood my concerns and the products I wanted to use. After buying our house earlier this year, I went down the YouTube rabbit hole of drainage videos--mostly because our foundation issues came from decades of poor drainage. This review is for a project completed 12.10.2021 in the front yard. Having a new RV there was a distinct need to have an access way to the RV pad on the side yard going across what was existing lawn. It was important to do what we could to maintain the lawn look in the front yard. Using interlocking grids was what got the look right. Worked with Jeff and his crew of three very hard working, kind, courteous, smart asses in the absolute best context. Michael, Carlos and Jose were absolutely the best. We had plenty of good laughs along the way and I could not have asked for three more awesome guys that did the heavy lifting to bring the project to what looks to be a perfect end result. We had a drainage issue every time we got heavy rains. Water would soak in from the outside of our building and absorb into our walls, our molding, and our carpet, leaving the carpet soaked in an area for days. We had this issue for years! We tried digging out a channel away from the building, clearing debris, putting down debris. No joy. Then Brent from Older Home Specialists recommended a French drain system. I've never worked with a landscaper before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. But now after working with Jeff my standards have definitely been elevated. The first thing I noticed about Jeff is that he is very detailed-oriented and thinks very fast. How do I know? Because Jeff shares his thought process aloud, which I actually found super educational. I learned more about what's causing my property's drainage issues in 10 minutes with Jeff than I knew after 2 years of living here. I really appreciated the way Jeff itemized the project estimate to the smallest detail so that I knew exactly what I was paying for. He also clearly spelled out work items that were TBD with the determining factors clearly laid out. I wish every contractor did that. During the job, Jeff checked in daily to let me know the status of the work. While we were out of town, he sent videos explaining what he was doing so that we always knew exactly what was happening. He also checked in with my neighbors to make sure they were OK with him working after regular work hours for a few days. It struck me how conscientious he was. I called in for a quote on a French drain and to my surprise they answered my call on the third ring at 8pm on a Sunday. Was gonna just leave a message... lol so here we go. Brent was super polite and took the time to answer my questions and was able to fit my appointment in the same week for the estimate. Day of appointment, 15 minutes early (never happens these days) one of his guys came out for the measure. Jeff was also super polite, and very knowledgeable! He went over the drainage options and other recommendations so that the issues would be resolved the first time. About a week and a half after the consultation I received a very detailed proposal from the company. I found the price to be very fair and decided to go with them. They did not disappoint! Jeff and his helper "Big Jeff" kept me in the loop from start to finish. All in all they made short work of regrading the backyard, hauled off about 20 yards of dirt and old lawn with there tractor (whatever it's called) and trenched in a new French drain. I had a downspout that was connected to a corrugated drain pipe that was broken and another downspout with no splash guard, rain water would just sit around the house. All the prior drainage on the side yard were messed up and would flood when there's a storm. I received a quote from a friend of a friend, price seemed fair but he didn't really explain the project and there was lack of communication. I asked if we needed to get the utility companies out to flag the yard since digging is needed, he said no. After 4 weeks of delayed response from the friend, I decided to search on Yelp. I couldn't find much reviews on drainage work. Of the few I found and sent messages to, I received a response to contact Jeff. I sent a text to Jeff, he responded quickly and said he does tons of drainage work and sent links of companies he has work with to check out his work and reviews. Jeff came out the same week to check out what I needed done. He was very professional and detailed of what needed to be done. He emailed me a quote that same night, it was extremely higher than the 1st bid I received from the friend of a friend. I had a feeling that I should go with Jeff even though his price was higher, I'm glad I did. He was willing to work with me on lowering the price for some work I do on my end prior to them starting. He even lowered it more if I did the end part upon them finishing which was moving the rocks I moved in the beginning back to it's initial spot.
