Reached out to Brent about a backyard flooding problem. He was super quick to set up a consultation, super knowledgeable, friendly and honest. Saved us a $10,000+ project! He also worked on our neighbor's house a few doors down. You can tell Brent truly wants to help and not just make a buck. He seems well-trusted and connected in the community. Would highly recommend! read more

I honestly can't say enough good things about Brent and his crew, but I'll try. I reached out to him after realizing I needed a drainage pro who really understood my concerns and the products I wanted to use. After buying our house earlier this year, I went down the YouTube rabbit hole of drainage videos--mostly because our foundation issues came from decades of poor drainage. Finding a local company willing to do the work was surprisingly hard, and when I finally did, they installed something that just wasn't built to last. I rushed that decision, and sure enough, it didn't feel right. Sometimes you just have to fix it before it becomes a bigger headache. Luckily, the trenches were still open and no landscaping was done yet, so I decided to redo everything correctly. I wanted to use the high-quality French Drain Man materials--patented, made from new materials (not recycled), and engineered to last. The challenge was finding someone who knew how to install them properly. That's when I found Brent. Turns out he's the west-coast installer who actually uses those same products--and he's just as passionate about proper drainage as the French Drain Man himself. Brent even has a YouTube channel and Instagram where he shares his projects and tips, which shows how much he cares about doing things right. From the start, Brent was responsive, professional, and easy to talk to. He called me back the same day (which never happens anymore!) and worked with me to create a plan that made sense for my property and budget. He even suggested ways I could do some prep work myself to save on the install. When Brent and his crew arrived, I immediately knew I was in good hands. They were organized, efficient, and clearly took pride in their work. A few neighbors stopped by while they were working and were amazed at the quality of the system. One neighbor thought I was crazy for replacing the old setup--but that same neighbor's garage has flooded twice. I told him my goal is to not flood even once! A few weeks later we had a huge downpour, and for the first time our crawl space stayed completely dry. That was all the confirmation I needed that we made the right choice. Brent mentioned that most of his projects are re-do's of failed systems installed by others--and after this experience, I totally get it. Too many people do quick fixes instead of building proper, long-term solutions. I couldn't be happier with the results or the overall experience. Brent and his crew are top-notch, and I feel genuinely blessed to have one of their systems installed at our home. (We are part of an exclusive club now! Lol) In all seriousness though, if you want your drainage done right the first time and want to work an outstanding guy that is not only knowledgeable but legitimately passionate about drainage then you need to call Brent. read more

We contacted Brent after a big storm this winter that overwhelmed the drains we already had and flooded our yard. He came out quickly and spent time thoroughly looking over our yard, our existing drainage system, and listening to our concerns. He came up with a plan to address the issues without having to tear out our landscaping. He sent us a quote by the next day and quickly responded to our many follow-up questions. He's clearly very knowledgeable about drainage and passionate about it! The crew did an awesome job and worked SO hard. They arrived on time every day and even worked through the weekend to make up for some lost work time due to rain. Despite having to dig up big chunks of our yard and temporarily move plants, they put everything back together perfectly. We really appreciate that they use high quality materials that will do the job better and last longer than materials purchased off the shelf at a big box hardware store. Can't recommend Older Home Specialists enough, they do incredible work for a very fair price. We'll definitely call them again if we need any other work done as they also do irrigation! read more

Contacted Brent and he got back to me right away about gutter and surface water issues causing moisture intrusion into the house. He spent a great amount of time walking the property and perimeter of the house, factoring a number of things in. I really appreciate his thoughtful feedback and guidance on immediate mitigation strategies, along with the best permanent solution to my issue! Brent will be providing consulting and supplies for the project, and I'll do the labor which will significantly cut down my costs. Thank you Brent, for your valuable time and talent, and therefore saving me a little treasure!! Y.I.C. -Chris read more

They canceled the original appointment due to car problems, didn't follow up until the next day. When they inquired about availability to reschedule, I provided a time but they were not available. Poor communication and follow up! Found someone else that was pleasant and responsive. read more

I had a really great experience with Older Home Specialist. I called because I'm working on a backyard drainage project myself and needed some advice. Brent, the owner, spent over 30 minutes on the phone with me and was incredibly helpful. He gave me practical advice, real-life examples, and helped me work through a few things I was really stuck on. I was very thankful for his time and knowledge. Even though I'm doing this project myself, this experience definitely made a big impression on me, and I would absolutely use them in the future if I need drainage work done. read more

Brent saved us!!! We had several other companies quote us from $1k to almost $2k to replace a below grade sprinkler valve(s). Brent came out the next day, found a much simpler fix, and was able to resolve our issue in under 30 minutes for around $200! read more

I needed a quote to fix a leak in my sprinkler pipes. I found Brent on google and he answered on the first ring. He made an appointment for the next day and came out on time as promised. He and his team talked me through the fix, told me pricing up front and asked for my input before doing anything. Brent is professional and knowledgeable and was able to fix the leak right on the spot! The price was way lower than I expected. I have already decided to use Brent to replace my entire front lawn sprinkler system because he was so great!! read more

This review is for a project completed 12.10.2021 in the front yard. Having a new RV there was a distinct need to have an access way to the RV pad on the side yard going across what was existing lawn. It was important to do what we could to maintain the lawn look in the front yard. Using interlocking grids was what got the look right. Worked with Jeff and his crew of three very hard working, kind, courteous, smart asses in the absolute best context. Michael, Carlos and Jose were absolutely the best. We had plenty of good laughs along the way and I could not have asked for three more awesome guys that did the heavy lifting to bring the project to what looks to be a perfect end result. If there was a contest for crew awards Michael was hands down most comical. Carlos was the clear cut winner for most appreciative and grateful. If you guys are reading this and think Jose was last its only because he landed project MVP. Great communication from start to finish was absolutely appreciated. Jeff and crew did our irrigation a few years back and we were entirely satisfied with both the work and the price. It's now to the point where this is the go to for all yard needs from maintenance to projects. We intend to have some low wattage lighting work done in the near future and look forward to working with Jeff yet again. read more

I was in the process of getting estimates for updating my sprinkler systems. Brent was one of my bidders. I shared with him that I was going to sell my home next year, as I told all bidders, and he told me what I needed to hear. My home won't sell for more because I have a sprinkler system suited to me. I will keep your information for future use. I am always impressed by people that go above and beyond in order to help the community! I appreciate your honesty! Thank you! read more

Brent answered my call on a Saturday afternoon and came out first thing Monday. That by itself was a amazing since everyone else I contacted gave me outrageous quotes without even seeing the project! I was selling my "older home" and dealing with an older improperly installed irrigation system and a resulting leak. He took his time to investigate, patiently explained what needed to be done at a minimum $ and what should be done longer term. At a time when I was already financially stressed and needed to repair my home for sale, he came into my life as an answer to my prayerst Honest, trustworthy, calming, reasonably priced.....too many adjectives to describe Brent! read more

After interviewing 5 landscape/drainage experts I decided on OHS and Brent and his crew to do the job. Right from the start of his estimate he was confident and very trustworthy. He fully understands his trade through and through and furthermore the equipment he uses is top tier (French Drain Man), not the Home Depot Chinese crap. I wanted it done once and done right the first time around as I knew it was going to be a lot of excavation and I didn't want to repeat this cause I went the "Cheap" route. I wouldn't hesitate to hire this man and his crew again and again and I encourage you to check him out and look into his Facebook and instagram posts where he compares and contrast different drainage pipes and the durability of them. Top tier all around!! Great job!! Brent and his team even resolved a couple of broken sprinklers lines too that weren't even in the original estimate!! read more

We had a drainage issue every time we got heavy rains. Water would soak in from the outside of our building and absorb into our walls, our molding, and our carpet, leaving the carpet soaked in an area for days. We had this issue for years! We tried digging out a channel away from the building, clearing debris, putting down debris. No joy. Then Brent from Older Home Specialists recommended a French drain system. We said yes, thinking, "couldn't hurt." I thought they were just gonna dig a trench, put in a drain and bury it. I was so surprised at how technical the process was. And Brent explained to me, every step of the way, why what was happening was happening, and why each step was important to the success of the drain. Brent was friendly and awesome! Flash forward to today, post a couple January storms and VERY heavy rains....no water in the building! NONE! We couldn't be more pleased. Older Home Specialists solved a better than 17 year old problem for us. Brent was informative and friendly, and his crew was tidy, hard working, and friendly as well. Brent with Older Home Specialist just completed replacing a line in my Front Sprinkler system that had a leak. He also relocated sprinkler heads by his recommendation so I would have better coverage. I have the old brass sprinkler head and the sprinkler heads he put in give a lot better coverage. The job was very reasonable in price and Brent is very knowledgeable and very professional. I've never worked with a landscaper before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. But now after working with Jeff my standards have definitely been elevated. The first thing I noticed about Jeff is that he is very detailed-oriented and thinks very fast. How do I know? Because Jeff shares his thought process aloud, which I actually found super educational. I learned more about what's causing my property's drainage issues in 10 minutes with Jeff than I knew after 2 years of living here. I really appreciated the way Jeff itemized the project estimate to the smallest detail so that I knew exactly what I was paying for. He also clearly spelled out work items that were TBD with the determining factors clearly laid out. I wish every contractor did that. During the job, Jeff checked in daily to let me know the status of the work. While we were out of town, he sent videos explaining what he was doing so that we always knew exactly what was happening. He also checked in with my neighbors to make sure they were OK with him working after regular work hours for a few days. It struck me how conscientious he was. It's clear Jeff loves what he does and takes pride in the quality of his work. He threw in a few improvements to our yard we weren't even asking for but ended up making a big difference to the aesthetic of the final result. He also helped us fix a drainage issue at the other end of our property that had nothing to do with the job we were asking him to do just because he noticed there was a lot of water under our house. He cares and it really shows. He's also just fun to talk to. I genuinely enjoyed having him around. I will definitely be seeking Jeff's services again for our future landscaping needs. Get this guy while you can. His calendar fills up QUICK! read more

Thank you Brent! Before we had ever met Brent with Older home Specialists we had started to work with two different companies and both projects had gone sideways before we had even started. Back to square one, we fortunately found Brent with Older Home Specialists. We are SO pleased, we would absolutely recommend this company, 5 stars! Thanks Brent read more

I can't say enough great things about my experience with Older Home Specialists. From start to finish, working with them was an absolute pleasure. They installed a French Drain system in my yard, and it has been nothing short of amazing. I live on a hill and experience a tremendous amount of surface water in addition to subsurface water, especially during the rainy season, so proper drainage is critical. I've had poor French drain systems installed in the past, so I was a bit skeptical at first but this one has completely changed my expectations. I purposely waited a few months before writing this review to see how well the system would hold up, and I'm thrilled to say it has exceeded my expectations! Brent, the owner, is not only incredibly knowledgeable but also genuinely passionate about his work. He took the time to walk me through every step of the process, answering all my questions with patience and expertise. It's clear that he takes great pride in using top quality materials and delivering outstanding craftsmanship. If you're looking for a team that truly cares about their work and delivers fantastic results, I highly recommend Older Home Specialists! You won't be disappointed! read more

Jeff and his team did a fantastic job with our backyard. His initial quote was very thorough, fair, and prompt. We loved the level of detail in the quote, it left no room for misinterpretations as we've seen with other contractors. We had a unique backyard setup with a large gazebo and an old deck. Jeff and his team cleared it all out, had a cement patio poured, and set up irrigation/lights/drainage/new sod, etc. They also hooked up the irrigation of our front yard to the same smart system as the backyard for ease of use. Jeff kept us constantly updated of their timelines, and made sure we felt like a part of the process. He provided recommendations based on his expertise and experience, but also gave us room to make decisions as we saw fit. It's perfect for our family and we're so appreciative of the skill of Jeff and his team! read more

I called in for a quote on a French drain and to my surprise they answered my call on the third ring at 8pm on a Sunday. Was gonna just leave a message... lol so here we go. Brent was super polite and took the time to answer my questions and was able to fit my appointment in the same week for the estimate. Day of appointment, 15 minutes early (never happens these days) one of his guys came out for the measure. Jeff was also super polite, and very knowledgeable! He went over the drainage options and other recommendations so that the issues would be resolved the first time. About a week and a half after the consultation I received a very detailed proposal from the company. I found the price to be very fair and decided to go with them. They did not disappoint! Jeff and his helper "Big Jeff" kept me in the loop from start to finish. All in all they made short work of regrading the backyard, hauled off about 20 yards of dirt and old lawn with there tractor (whatever it's called) and trenched in a new French drain. From start to finish the experience was very pleasant! I will be contacting them to redo my front yard and office building! Thank you Brent, Jeff and Big Jeff!! read more

We decided to tear out our front lawn and create a drought resistant landscape at the end of October. We were in desperate need of an irrigation system and decided we needed professionals for the job. After getting a few quotes from different companies, I knew that Older Home Specialists were the guys to hire after just chatting with Jeff and meeting him for the free consultation. Not only were they able to squeeze us in to their schedules, they were able to install our drip system in one day. Jeff and his crew were super efficient, friendly and didn't mind me asking a million questions along the way while they installed. I appreciated they were able to work around the landscaping we had already done and the galvanized pipes our 1950's home had. I'm looking forward to using them again, but this time it will be to plan and lay our backyard landscaping and install a new sprinkler system. read more

Overall, Jeff is legit, I would definitely reach out to him again in the future and recommend him to anyone that needs drainage work. Continue reading if you have time Jeff and his crew did a great job installing drainage from the side backyard down to the front lawn. I had a downspout that was connected to a corrugated drain pipe that was broken and another downspout with no splash guard, rain water would just sit around the house. All the prior drainage on the side yard were messed up and would flood when there's a storm. I received a quote from a friend of a friend, price seemed fair but he didn't really explain the project and there was lack of communication. I asked if we needed to get the utility companies out to flag the yard since digging is needed, he said no. After 4 weeks of delayed response from the friend, I decided to search on Yelp. I couldn't find much reviews on drainage work. Of the few I found and sent messages to, I received a response to contact Jeff. I sent a text to Jeff, he responded quickly and said he does tons of drainage work and sent links of companies he has work with to check out his work and reviews. Jeff came out the same week to check out what I needed done. He was very professional and detailed of what needed to be done. He emailed me a quote that same night, it was extremely higher than the 1st bid I received from the friend of a friend. I had a feeling that I should go with Jeff even though his price was higher, I'm glad I did. He was willing to work with me on lowering the price for some work I do on my end prior to them starting. He even lowered it more if I did the end part upon them finishing which was moving the rocks I moved in the beginning back to it's initial spot. Jeff also scheduled a request for the utility companies to come flag their lines as the work area is right near the gas meter and cables lines. Jeff and his crew were able to come out a few weeks earlier then stated, finished the job in 5 hours and cleaned up. read more
