This is tucked away in a small strip mall on 81st Avenue in Dyer, Indiana. I visited on a Saturday with a group of 5 sorority sisters from my college years. (30+ years later, our sisterhood is still going strong!) Anyway, It was 5 of us in the group, however one of our group members regularly frequents this restaurant a few times a month. She spoke really highly of the food, so we agreed to meet there. The Scrambled Diner is a very small establishment, with seating for approximately 50 people. (My number is only an estimate). Upon our 11:30 a.m. arrival, we were greeted in a rather large waiting area and told there was a 30 minute wait. The wait time was accurate, and upon being seated, we were greeted by a very cheerful waitress, who readily recognized my friend, greeting her "You are back today!" We placed our orders from a selection of breakfast and lunch items to choose from. I had the Rueben with Fries. Two others had the Lobster Roll with Fries. One ordered the French Toast Breakfast with Bacon and Eggs. Lastly, one other person from our group had the Chorizo Skillet. The food was delivered in approximately 20 minutes. All of the sauces, such as ketchup and hot sauce, are homemade. My only drawback was that I originally planned to order a skillet. The menu advertised eggs "done the way you like them." However, when I asked for my eggs to be cooked "fresh, country scrambled" or "country scrambled," I was told they could not do that for me. It was disappointing to hear, despite the menu suggesting they could prepare to my liking. This oversight impacted my dining experience, causing me to opt out of ordering breakfast altogether. (For those who do not know, "fresh, country scrambled" simply means unbeaten eggs. So, one would crack the egg directly over the skillet and cook until the egg whites are partially set, then gently fold the eggs a couple of times until they are fully cooked. The end result is bigger chunks of egg white in the scrambled eggs, so you can enjoy the flavor of each component of the egg). With the request of some mustard, I enjoyed my Rueben and fries. If I come back, I want to try the homemade cinnamon rolls.

The food was good. There was a lot of different options. The only negative is it's pretty pricey. Also the space is quite small. Not good for large groups of people or people who are sensitive to noise and space. The service was good.

This is a very popular breakfast spot and my husband and I have stopped by a few times on the weekend, but the wait has been too long. It's small and quaint. The coffee is strong and delicious. They have an interesting menu and good specials. We did not have to wait very long today, however, once we were seated, it took a server just about 15 minutes to acknowledge us. By the time we received our food, we had been sitting at our table for an hour. The waitress said something off the cuff that turned us off. The food was good, but when you compare it to the price and the wait, not worth it. I don't believe we will be back.

This is the best breakfast place hands down! The hashbrowns are crispy and perfect. And my favorite is the veggie breakfast burrito

Fantastic. I had the Boston skillet which is seafood (crab and shrimp over hash browns and spinach) with 2 eggs on top. This dish was dope. Cooked perfectly and plentiful portions of seafood and hash browns, I was in heaven eating this. My wife had the banana fosters pancakes and she loves her dish too. Service was excellent and prices are very reasonable for the quality of food you get. Top notch place

I won't be back. For starters why is it only portraits of white kids? It's feeling like they cater to only them. I order the French toast club. The eggs were not scrambled with cheese they slapped American cheese right on top. I would have preferred them scrambled in the cheese. French toast was good. They were huge! I'm sure two people could share. The turkey sausage was awful omg it tastes like meatless something. I've never had turkey sausage like that. My man had the 2 egg breakfast and a side of short stack pancakes. He had me try the pancake I'm not a pancake person but it had a pepper after taste. He also had ketchup for his hash brown and it tasted like sugar free. I also didn't like how they don't have a meal option for pancakes, meat and eggs. That should be one meal. It was not worth $50 whatsoever and I will not be back. If you are looking for something to satisfy your taste buds it's for sure not this place.

I don't know who is leaving these reviews but this place is one star at best!!! The steak skillet was thin sliced Arby's beef for 20 dollars. The breakfast those prices and toast is extra!!lol We asked for lemon for the water we are told sorry no no no I thought we were talking to Ringo Starr

Really good food. I generally have omelets. Their sausage patties are home made and very rich. This place is gaining popularity.

Once Chloe took over, we were shocked when we found out she'd only started TWO DAYS earlier. She was AMAZING. Knowledgeable, confident, attentive and genuinely fun. Huge shoutout to both Chloe and Girl & the Goat's training program, because if that's what two days in looks like, they're doing something very right. We shared the green beans, goat empanadas, pork shank and chicken dish, and loved everything. We told Chloe we'd be back for dessert -- and we actually kept our promise! Unfortunately she wasn't working when we returned, but Jake took great care of us and was amazing too. We came specifically for When Life Gives You Blueberries and the Chocolate Basil Brownie Bash, and both were superb.

The whole experience is built around sharing, which gave us an excuse to order like we hadn't eaten in three days. And there really wasn't a weak plate on the table. The goat belly was the WOW bite for me. Rich, tender, full of flavor and exactly the kind of dish you come here hoping to find -- something different that you'll actually remember the next day. Then came the grilled short rib. Beautiful char, incredibly tender, sweet and savory working together... this was the plate where the table got noticeably quieter for a minute. Always a good sign. And don't sleep on the chickpea fritters. I wasn't expecting them to compete with goat belly and short rib for attention, but they absolutely held their own. Crispy, flavorful and another example of how Girl & The Goat takes something relatively simple and makes it interesting. We tried several other dishes, passed plates around, argued over who got the last bite and basically did dinner exactly the way this place is meant to be experienced. Great atmosphere, creative food, strong service and enough unexpected flavors to keep the meal fun from beginning to end. Girl & The Goat was worth the splurge

This cute restaurant is located in Crown Point, IN, and it's best to use GPS to avoid getting lost. The venue is nice and perfect for photos, with plenty of space. The bar has a lively atmosphere, and the food is good, with large portions. I ordered the Classic Smashburger and substituted the protein for an Impossible Burger. I expected to receive two patties since I had to pay an additional $4.00. While it's my choice to be a pescatarian, I still think that an extra $4.00 for a single patty is excessive, both here and at any restaurant. This brought the price of my burger from $18.00 to $22.00, which reflects the current costs of dining out. Overall, our server was really nice and accommodating. She was patient with us as we decided on what to order and even shared her favorite dishes, which helped us make our decisions. The others in my party ordered a Mushroom & Swiss Smashburger and a Tuscan Turkey Sandwich. I must say, the turkey sandwich (Shaved Oven Roasted Turkey) had so much turkey on it that it could have fed us for Thanksgiving, but we weren't complaining! It was generous, and she happily took home the leftovers. The drink we had was blah, it had peach deep eddy's, elderflower liqueur (which I love), citrus and a few other ingredients. I'll pass on that the next time, I think it had too much elderflower and not enough peach. We all enjoyed our food and the ambiance of the restaurant. We will definitely return when we are in the area, and I will be sure to recommend this place to my friends who live nearby. I would also consider throwing a small b-day celebration upstairs in the lounge. Thank you, Culinary Misfits, for a great lunch!
