By far my favorite restaurant in the area. The only con is that they close early... oh how I wish I could come here after work for dinner!! after hearing some rave reviews, my sister and i decided to check out the scrambled diner last weekend. it was worth every penny and my trip to the ATM. while it is cash only, the food is really reasonably priced, so it won't break the bank. most of the food falls within the $5-$11 range. we came here on a Saturday morning around 11am, so just as we would at any other good breakfast spot, we had to wait about 20 minutes for our table. after we were seated, our waitress very promptly brought out water and menus. my sister and i decided to split a cinnamon roll, omelet florentine, and the orchard omelet. the cinnamon roll came out firrst, and it was slathered in a delicious cream cheese frosting; the inside of the roll was really soft and perfectly baked. i'm drooling just thinking about it! our omelets were really big for only having 3 eggs; the omelets were really fluffy and flavorful. the florentine was a perfect balance of veggies and cheese with having just the right amount of each. the orchard omelet was good, but the apple butter on the inside gives an extra richness, which can be too much for some people. the hashbrowns were extremely crispy & buttery on the outside, which is just how i like it. it was really the kind of breakfast that keeps you full all day. my only complaint was that the coffee was a little weak; it came in a giant mug, which is a nice touch...but i wish they just brewed it a bit stronger. the coffee is not enough to deter me from coming again; i'm sure i'll be stopping in every time i'm in town. read more

The food and portions are great. The wait...not so great. I love the out of the way location and I will be back to this restaurant. Unfortunately they need to find a way to either add on to the building or buy out their neighbors. A place that's consistently this busy loses customers (myself included a couple of times) because the wait for a table, on most weekends, can be almost an hour. That's too long just to be seated for breakfast. Then another 15 to 20 minutes for your food. Parking can be a little challenging on the weekends. read more

Went in after cutting our fresh Christmas tree at Luers Farm, we stopped in for brunch at The Scrambled Diner. I cannot praise this place enough. Every single thing we ate or drank was completely and totally delicious. Coffee: Fresh brewed, OJ: Fresh squeezed, Turkey Sausage: homemade, Raspberry & Strawberry Jams: Homemade...we got the Garbage Skillet, the Caramelized Onion, Wilted Greens and Goat Cheese Omelet , and the Ham, Cheese and Apple Butter Omelet, along with wonderful fresh toasted bread and english muffins. Seriously, this place is absolutely incredible. You can tell that the owners put the time and love into each item...you can taste it in every bite. We all stuffed ourselves well and had some very happy tummies afterwards. A note: the doughnut holes are HUGE! Wonderfully dense and tasty, but very big. We ended up bringing ours home for a treat later on in the afternoon. They were delicious. Do yourself a favor and check this place out if you haven't already. This is a great place..........FOR ME TO POOP ON!! We go to Scramble hoping for a good experience. I am disappointed with each visit. The staff is friendly. My husband will only order one item when we good and that is the over priced breakfast sandwich. Maybe I should try one of those pancake specials loaded with fruit and sugar to cover up the lack of the flavorless pancakes. I ordered the Wilted Greens Omelette and I thought the chef would know to do a reduction with the balsamic vinegar, instead my food was so bitter from straight balsamic I could not eat it. This past week we tried again and I had to send the sausage patties back because they were under cooked. Our server tried to tell us the pink was from the spices they use when making the sausage. My husbands sausage patty on his overpriced sandwich didn't look undercooked. Why would a staff member take the chance of a customer becoming ill? We have been to Scramble for lunch and I can't even remember what we had. I don't think we will ever be back. 3 strikes your out Scramble. read more

I've been to the scrambled a had full of times and I've never been disappointed. The worst is if you go on a weekend and the wait is long. I must be honest I always get the same thing the southwest omlette or whatever the actual name is. It's stuffed with homemade chorizo, onions peppers & pepper jack. I LOVE the hash browns!!! It also comes with choice of meat and I usually go with the homemade turkey sausage, which is usually really dry but after all the chorizo I could care less! You also get toast and you have got to try the homemade strawberry jam! They also make their own hot sauce (kinda weak but major props for doing their own!!) and they make ketchup! I'm a huge ketchup fan so it took some getting used to but I ended up really liking it. The service is always pretty great, super friendly. My mom once ordered the dyer beef, yeah that sammy was delish!! Overall I really love this place, a few small tweaks and I would have no problem giving them a 5! read more

If there is a better breakfast/brunch spot in northwest Indiana I have yet come across it. Fantastic omelets, amazing skillets, and mouthwatering homemade jams are just some of the menus delights. The staff is lights out! I don't think my glass has ever been less than 1/3 full in 6+ visits. The passion of the chef and freshness of the ingredients combine for a can't miss meal. The only negative part of this gem is the size. With a seating capacity of maybe 40 patience often becomes the most important virtue on Sunday mornings. Despite that minor downfall the wait is well worth it and some might say all said and done adds a bit of exclusivity to an otherwise ordinary breakfast. read more

I do remember reading another review before I went here and that reviewer said that it was yuppy food. They do have a good selection of things you won't find anywhere else in the area. That, I am certain of. But they have adapted well to what people from NW Indiana expect, which is large portions of food--enough for you to actually take home and feed yourself again entirely. I like to get a nice portion and finish it there in the restaurant, but that's just me. The prices are high if you're the same type of customer. I think my burrito was about 9 bucks and I ate the whole thing because I didn't want to waste it and I wasn't heading home. It was really fresh and had nice chunks of ham and real swiss cheese and a pretty good apple butter, along with a few scrambled eggs. It was called an Orchard Wrap. It came with nothing else on the plate. No fruit, no potato, no nothing. Kinda strange for 9 bucks--an enormous burrito, but no sides. I would've loved a small burrito and a few pieces of fruit or a little pile of potatoes...just saying. The restaurant was simple and clean and so was the service. Nothing really stood out, except the good food. Hubby had some sort of southwest skillet, which was also huge and no sides. I thought it was way too spicy for breakfast, but he liked it. It came with a huge pile of fried chorizo and some eggs on top. I have a cast-iron stomach, but not at breakfast-time. It looked like a mountain of heartburn from across the table. Would we go again?
