Didn't give me a quote or receipt or let me know at she was charging me. I would have been fine if I knew but I would have used another payment. Found it to be an unethical business practice. Won't be back.

They texted when my order was ready, which was a nice touch and unexpected. I had a series of circumstances that led me to be quite late in picking up the order. I am so, so grateful for the excellent customer service. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much!

I've been coming to Village Cleaners for quite some time now and they've always done a great job…read morewith my dry cleaning. However, I recently learned they've increased their prices and that definitely has me feeling some type of way. I've taken all kinds of clothing here and they've consistenly gotten the job done. Depending on how early you drop your clothes off, they usually have your items ready the same day. Not only are they good with clothes, but they do great work with comforters too. I've had my queen size comforter cleaned here a few times and was very satisfied with the results. I had a couple spots on my comforter and they were able to get them right out, all for $17.99. Can't be mad at that! But here's where I have to throw some shade- this recent price increase? Not the business. Especially considering all the other cleaners in the area don't charge half of what Village is now charging. When the hispanic lady manager informed me of the the price change after I'd recently dropped off a load of clothes, I was thinking "whoa!"- and for a second, almost reconsidered my decision to leave my items. Get this: Blazers/Shirts are now $4.50, Skirts/Sweaters- $4.50, Pants/Ties- $3.75, Jackets- $4.99, and Dresses- $6.99 and up! Wtf? It's not so bad if you have a piece or two, but if you're bringing in a load, that can get expensive! $6.99 and up for dresses? Ummm, no. Because of this I recently tried another cleaners in the area whose prices start at $1.50 per clothing item. I had clothes at Village Cleaners and clothes at the new cleaners, just to compare the quality of work vs. price. My Village Cleaners tab was $30.67 for about 4 or 5 pieces. I had the same amount of items at the other cleaners- who did a fantastic job by the way, and my tab was $7.57. That's a $23 difference! I guess it's no secret that I'll be frequenting the new spot a lot more often. Clearly, Village Cleaners is doing the most with their prices. I can't say I won't come back here ever again, because they get the job done, BUT what I can say is I won't be bringing a bulk of clothes here on a regular when I can go somewhere else and get a bigger bang for my buck. Start sending me some coupons and I may reconsider! Just sayin.

I don't frequently get my wardrobe tailored, but I was so happy that I came across Trends Tailor…read moremainly because of how quick, fairly priced and overall nice and courteous the owner Andy was throughout my patronage there. The shop is clean, well-lit and has huge mirrors. There isn't much free parking nearby, but the short walk from street parking is manageable enough. I had a strapless dress with a fairly high split and was roomy in the top area. The dress had lots of sequins and feathers, so I was anxious on how he would make the alterations, but I soon learned to trust his professionalism and the dress turned out absolutely gorgeous! A week and $40 later, I was ready to hit the dance floor at my friend's Roaring 20s/Great Gatsby-themed birthday party.

It's worth noting that Andy specializes in alterations and tailoring and only does dry cleaning through a family connection as a side business. The shop is well lit, clean and has a large dressing room and mirrored wall for alternations. For dry cleaning, since this is not his main business, expect to wait about a week for pick up and to pay a little more. I dropped off my three items on a Thursday afternoon and left my cellphone number which Andy said that he would text when the items were ready. I never received a text so I waited a little over a week to pick up my items on the following Saturday afternoon. My items were ready when I got there and the dress that I dropped off with a few stains looked as good as new! I paid $7 an item which is definitely on the higher end but I was happy to see the quality of the work. Other notes - free parking is becoming increasingly scarce in Rice Village so be prepared to walk a few blocks during busier times of the day if you don't want to pay to park. Unfortunately no dedicated spots or lot.

When I arrived on Tuesday, he said it wasn't ready and asked me to wait another hour, so I did. The second issue was the price. When I dropped off the item on Thursday, we agreed on $30. He didn't write the price on the invoice, so I wrote "$30" on it myself to avoid any confusion. When I came to pick it up, he told me the price was $40. I showed him the invoice and reminded him that we had agreed on $30, but he still argued that I should pay $40. Reluctantly, he agreed to $30. Finally, when it was time to pay, he entered $33 into the credit card machine instead of $30. It may have been a credit card surcharge, but he never mentioned or explained it beforehand. He simply charged an extra $3 without telling me why. Between the missed pickup time, the disagreement over the agreed price, and the unexplained extra charge, I won't be returning.
