Went to Scope yesterday and had Dr. Choi do my annual exam which had not been done in years. She was the best -- informative, educated me about dry eyes and oil glands. I bought a new pair of glasses and had my old glasses fitted with new lenses. Unfortunately it takes 2 weeks to receive the glasses back so I only left one with them and will do the other when the glasses are back. Be aware, the parking is terrible in Westcliff so the earlier you can get an appointment, the better. read more

I don't wear glasses, never needed them :) but my 3 year old daughter and my wife both wear glasses/contacts. Dr. Choi is a total pro. She doesn't normally make kids lenses but she went above and beyond for my daughters glasses. When I took her for a check up to see her ophthalmologist, he literally said to me "who made these lenses? They are perfect." Dr. Choi is incredibly knowledgeable and truly cares for all of her patients. She's not like many others trying to make a buck and churn customers in and out. My wife is also extremely happy with Scope and specially Dr. Choi. She took the time to explain to my wife the condition of her astigmatism in order for her to explain why her vision was sometimes blurry despite wearing contacts. With plenty of locations to choose from for eye care and glasses, I was disappointed with the lack of personal attention from my previous optometrist and the difficulty of getting an appointment. I literally walk by Scope every morning and saw your can set an appointment on line and scheduled an appointment for my day off. Came in early to do the necessary paperwork and found I was done in 2-3 mins and off for the exam. It took me longer to pick out my glasses but the whole staff and the doctor provided input . I had an amazing time at Scope! You can feel the love for people there through the entire experience. The place itself is really nice but still inviting. The modern equipment blew me away. They have an camera that takes a picture of the inside of your eye and you can see it yourself on the screen! WITHOUT DILATING. No funny sunglasses afterwards. No discomfort. And the image you get to see afterwards was fascinating. The other piece of equipment that blew me away was the one that dials in your prescription. Instead of the doctor flipping back and forth the whole time it has a left and right option. This is great since I have this weird performance anxiety when I typically go to an optometrist. I worry that I'm giving the wrong answer half the time and this extra tool gives me a better chance to decide which one is actually clearer. Then there's the people. Amber is super nice and can tell she's happy to be there. Doctor Joann was great of course but I was surprised at some of the more long term approach she had. For example she asked if I was interested in laser eye surgery and said that I would actually be better to do it sooner than later. I had always a thought I'd do it some day but she helped me realize that my nearsightedness will cause me to wear bifocals within about 10 years. With her conversation I've now simply decided not to get laser eye surgery because I'm happy with glasses and contacts which saves me a ton of money! Can't say enough wonderful things about Scope! If you have astigmatism, dry eyes, OR have a high prescription don't go anywhere else for your eye exams! I have moved around frequently so have had to see many optometrists but only Dr. Choi was able to find a contact prescription that fit my right eye well. She recommended an adjustment that made wearing contacts so much more comfortable and I no longer have to look for the tiny indent on my contacts to make sure I fit them in perfectly in order to see well. I have also had chronic dry eyes and she recommended I get a heat compress patch (that I bought off amazon) and explained why I have dry eyes (my right eye is not producing enough oils)- other doctors let me know my eyes were dry but only prescribed eyedrops that were temporary fixes. The most friendly, genuine and helpful people! I could not have had a better experience. I was surprised they even let me in on a Friday when they were closing in 10 minutes, but they were so welcoming, got my contact lenses sorted out (for a VERY fair price too), and Alberto even adjusted me and my husband's sunglasses so that they wouldn't fall off of our heads or slip down our noses. I've been working from home and have had acute headaches from eye strains. I've never had glasses and haven't had an eye exam done in over 10 years. I was so fortunate to get my eye exam done by Dr. Choi. Dr. Choi was extremely knowledgeable and kind. She really helped me understand how important it is to have the correct prescription for my vision needs. Not only am I fully cured and no longer have headaches, I also have a great pair of stylish Garrett Leights. Scope seems to have the latest and greatest high-end glasses / shades in stock and it was amazing to try all of the brands on even some of the boutique high-end brands I've never heard of. Great to just go to one place to try on all of the brands I wanted in person. Loved the mid-century modern vibes and clean aesthetics of the shop a well. Everything was super clean and the Scope team was extremely thoughtful about keeping customers safe with solid PPE and safety protocols. Also, love how quick and easy the whole eyes exam process was. Scope Optometry is a new spot - and boy am I glad I tried them out. Dr. Choi and her staff are super helpful, and also mindful of the pandemic. The staff always wore masks and they have hand sanitizers readily available. Also, when you try on their frames, they actually have you put it down in a separate bin, which they then sanitize and clean. I just thought that was a great idea that I have not seen in other places. Additionally, Dr. Choi is very attentive and thorough in her examination. She used the retinal scan on my eye (you should do this!) and noticed an odd issue with my eye. She ended up taking multiple looks at the eye (using both the traditional methods and also the retinal scan again). She showed me all the images and her thoughts, and in the end, her recommendation was to refer me to a specialist to get it checked out for sure. Well, it turns out I did have a horseshoe retinal tear, and got it fixed immediately. Without Dr. Choi's patience and thoroughness, it would have never been found as multiple other optometrists have missed it (it looked like the tear had been there for years). Last but not least, the frames that Scope Optometry have are top notch. You may not see a wide variety of "high end brands" (Chanel, Ray-Bans, Oakley, Burberry, etc), but that's because those brands are all under Luxottica and are actually of lower quality than what Scope Optometry carries. Trust me - their frames are much better and on-point. I'm glad I stumbled on this place and will continue to go there for the far, foreseeable future. Thanks Dr. Choi! read more

I'm very happy that I decided to come to Scope! Dr. Choi and her staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. She was able to see something in my eye using a special camera that I can now monitor year over year. My previous optometrist never brought this to my attention. They had a very nice selection of frames, including Matsuda, which I got for myself. I was also able to try some contacts out for a few days to figure out which one would work best for me. I ended up going with an Alcon lens that feels way better than my previous contacts. I would recommend Dr. Choi to anyone! read more

loved my experience here! it was about time to get a new pair of eyeglasses since my last pair was from 6 (maybe 7 or even 8??) years ago and i was in dire need of an upgrade. there's a lot of great styles to choose from here, and it helped to get a second opinion on the glasses since it's hard to tell how it frames my face when half of it is covered by a mask. dr. choi was very patient and thorough in explaining the purpose of all the individual tests as part of the eye exam, walking me through the results, and how to better manage my eye health and care on a day to day basis now that i'm working from home and in front of screens all day long. you know that air puff test for glaucoma? i always hate that test, but dr. choi put me at ease when going through it. she also had advice for renewing my contacts vs. eyeglasses prescription since i'm pregnant and apparently eyesight can change during or even after pregnancy. surprisingly, i found out babies can get eye exams too (which makes sense, i just never thought about it) and dr. choi explained when would be a good age to bring a baby for their first eye exam and how she would go about assessing baby's eyesight. will definitely be bringing my baby to see dr. choi once she's born (and old enough)! read more
