Fantastic repair service. Very thorough and professional. I have a Honda metropolitan scooter that was not starting due to extended inactivity. I was worried about the stress, drama, and expense of getting it repaired. Rich from Scooter Doc was able to make a house call so i would not have to transport the bike, and he was able to work through the various issues that were causing problems for the scooter. He seemed to have years of experience, as he was very knowledgeable and right away guessed correctly at what was wrong (carburetor problems, not just battery). He explained everything he was doing, stayed until the job was done, and still charged a reasonable price. Rich is an honest and straight forward guy who will do whatever he can to make sure his customers are taken care of. My Vespa broke down and I brought it to Rich to check out. It took him all of 5 minutes to diagnose the issue and let me know what it was. Unfortunately because of what happened it turned out I needed a whole new engine, but Rich was straight with me and clearly explained exactly what was wrong. He not only followed up afterwards to let me know that he had an engine that he could fit in my bike if I was interested he gave me tips on where to keep an eye out and look for replacement engines. Hidden gem! Look no further! Like a good dentist, doctor, plumber or lawyer, a good mechanic is hard to come by. I can't say enough about the workmanship and quality of service that I received from Rich. I had an '09 Vespa LXV150 that I hadn't started in over a year. Old oil, clogged carburetor, it just had a whole host of problems from not being used. He gave me an honest estimate along with details about what needed to be done. You can really sense that this guy knows Vespas inside and out. He gave me way more information than the folks at Sherman Oaks Vespa did when they sold me my scooter! I have had my Vespa since it was new 5/2002. I thought I would try Scooter Doc based on the reviews. My experience did not come close other than Paul L. Communication is important to the customer and that was where the problems started. I took the scooter in for a back tire which was not done and was charged $300.00 for "Holding the bike "or general service as he called it. I confirmed from another shop that my scooter was towed to , since I was afraid to safely ride it, I needed front and back tires new front brakes and the rotor was metal on metal. Rich is an awesome mechanic. It is not the first time he worked on my bike. He recently fixed my Vespa GTS 300 rear brakes and I was amazed at his meticulousness and his attention to any detail was truly incredible. He let me watch the entire process and his diagnostics was amazingly accurate. In the end he washed the whole bike test drive a couple of times and made additional adjustments to make sure the bike at its top performance. Rich gave me a fair price and bunch of good advice. As for the service... So, I was having a little trouble with my Vespa ET4, so I called Scooter Doc and spoke to Rich. He was super accommodating and even opened up the shop early so that I could bring my Vespa in before work. However, I managed to get my Vespa up and running, so I canceled on him and went to work. Then later (that weekend) I called to schedule a complete tune-up. Even though I had bailed on him before, Rich was happy to accommodate my schedule again. Then, when I asked how long it would be (he said about 5 days to do everything I needed - this was my first full tune-up since I bought the Vespa used, so I needed quite a bit), I mentioned that I would have to rent a car, since the Vespa was my only mode of transportation. To my surprise and delight, Rich turned it around in just over 2 days! So, all in all, the guys at Scooter Doc are super nice and unbelievably accommodating! As for the price... like I said, this was my first full tune-up since recently purchasing the scooter, so I don't have much to compare it to. I've had other scooters, and this price seemed comparable (given that a Vespa is going to be more expensive to fix up than a BMS or SYM, anywhere you go). As for the workmanship... stellar. When I upgraded from cheaper scooters to a Vespa, the ride felt like a whole different kind of machine. After the guys at Scooter Doc tuned-up my Vespa, I had the same reaction again. The attention to detail at Scooter Doc is unmatched, not just in scooter tune-ups I've experienced, but at any mechanic or repair service of any kind. My Vespa left Scooter Doc (actually, the guys brought it to my front door!) with every square centimeter in tip-top condition. Rich and his team are great at what they do. I took my Vespa into them after having garaged it for several years, they overhauled the entire bike for a fair price and very quickly. The garage location can be a little hard to locate at first, they are in the back of a narrow parking lot that has lots of white vans parked in it and a few palm trees in front. Rich was referred to me by Apple Box. They were leaving cards all over town saying they do the work at your house. That was not something they wanted to do, so I had to take my scoot to the garage. Rich is a nice guy, but a very small operation, so a tire change took a few hours. Also the transmission service was not done to Vespa standards, so an additional service was required after a few thousand more road miles. Rich cares about his work, but has his own way of doing things. His invoice price was fair, but the actual invoice had no details on it, and since the better Vespa dealer shop is closer, I prefer to have my service done there from now on. read more

I have a new 2011 Vespa GTV 300 and took it to 2 of the local dealers 1 in valley Sherman Oaks the other Temple City and both of them gave me very poor service and ended up costing me more money to have to redo some repairs with Rich and scooter doc. I got a small piece of debris stuck in a fan blade area of the clutch (which was an anomaly) which was making noise I took it 2 Temple City Vespa they made repairs took the piece of debris out of the fan blade bent it back but they didn't tighten the clutch housing nut which developed into another problem it got really hot ,I took it to Sherman Oaks Vespa and they told me that the nut wasn't tightened on the clutch I call Temple City and told him that another Vespa dealer making my repairs said the nut wasn't tightened on the clutch housing. they didn't take any responsibility at all for the nut being loose. I'll never take my scooter back there .So I took it to Rich at Scooter doc to get some new tires installed, valve adjustment, oil change putting on a new clutch assembly ,new belt I also decided to put on new front and rear malossi shocks and what a difference in performance .He also added a more of a performance kit that involves grabbing the belt on the clutch which is way worth the money anyway I highly recommend Rich and the scooter doc also Rich's lead mechanic I don't know his name he's very knowledgeable very nice guy also both highly recommended. read more

Rich has been handling the maintenance on my ET4 for the last 3 years and everything about his work on my scooter had been exceptional. I used to take my Vespa to the store in Sherman Oaks, and while they did an adequate job of maintaining it, Rich's work has been superior. The first time he tuned it up for me I couldn't believe how well it ran. The scooter's performance was better than when I drove off the showroom floor when it was new.
