Without hesitation no matter how far it was I was determine to get to him (it's worth the drive no matter where you live in the LA area)! He was truthful and straightforward from the beginning, letting me know that I should only use his services if I truly valued my Vespa. Our 2001 Vespa had a small issue with the ignition and wouldn't start. I called Rich and he took our scooter and gave it a thorough evaluation. He found a number of issues that needed to addressed and he fixed them all. Rich even went further and refinished our chrome. Rich did an amazing job on my 2006 ET4. I had just purchased used and the bike was running rough, and cutting out on me. I went for a basic service. Rich basically inspects every aspect of the bike as he services. With that, he immediately recognized the poor work the previous owner did on the scooter. He knew I was on a budget so he worked with me. That said he made sure I had correct fuel lines, fixed my choke issue, replaced key parts for brakes, replaced old belt, discovered my clutch was backwards, etc. I feel like my bike is like new and runs amazingly! Process was great. He called me back a few times just to go over issues he discovered and received my permission to fix. He even installed correct reflectors at cost! Rich is very passionate about Vespas and knows them like the back of his hand, with decades of experience. I can really tell he loves the craft and is very thorough and honest. Any part he replaces, he will go over with you and show you the old part and explain what went wrong. He is now my go to mechanic!! He is worth every penny. Rich did a great job on my Vespa after it was badly damaged in an accident. Happily it now runs as good as new! I'm also glad he was able to pick up and deliver to DTLA, working around my irregular schedule. I've used a few different Vespa shops around town and have had pretty awful experiences with most. Rich was extremely thorough and very communicative. When he dropped off the bike he spent a good 45 minutes double-checking it in front of me to make sure everything was as it should be. I'm SO GLAD I discovered Rich and his assistant over at Scooter Doc. Seriously, they went above and beyond on my 2005 Vespa GT200, and hooked me up with some big services, as well as providing an attention to detail that surpasses even my highest expectations. It all started when I heard word from my previous mechanic that my whip would need a new motor mount. Worried for my own safety, I took a ride out to Rich's shop in Pasadena. I'm a daily rider so I was very concerned about turnaround time and being provided an honest schedule for the repair. I had some bad experiences with getting misquoted costs and turnaround times in the past, so I was really hopeful Rich would deliver. And I was NOT disappointed, him and his assistant totally nailed it! First off, on my first visit, Rich took one look at my scooter and had a clear plan for fixing my motor mount, as well as a handful of recommendations that I'm thankful I took him up on. In that initial consultation, he even power washed my motor and cleaned a huge collection of dust and crap off it, free of charge! He really cares about his clients and takes a sincere pride in his work. Rich was able to give me a fair price on parts, and then accurately estimated a repair schedule. I dropped my Vespa off, and a few days later, it was finished and ready for pickup! Rich was SUPER responsive on text and phone calls, and we were able to work out details over the phone while he was working in-progress. He passed every repair recommendation by me before executing, and then per my instruction, nailed out the specific work... and then some! Rich was up front about costs from the beginning, and gave me a fair quote on parts and labor, all of which he was able to hit. On top of it all, he delivered my scooter back to me in person, rode it from Pasadena to West Hollywood! I'm sure this isn't a normal service, and I think I paid a bit extra for the gas and time, but it was a truly awesome thing and it saved me a TON of time during a really hectic work week where that big trip wasn't really possible for me. I got my ride back, Rich gave me a thorough run-down of the work completed, AS WELL as completing additional little details, like fixing some electronic stuff, exhaust caps, etc--above and beyond attention to detail. I feel like my bike is riding like a new vehicle! Rich gave me some good suggestions for long-term maintenance I should plan and budget for, as well as accurate timelines mileage-wise when I should take action. After reading all the positive reviews, I decided to give Scooter Doc a chance, and man did it pay off! Rich was able to do my 600-mile check-up promptly and at fraction of the cost the dealership was quoting me. Fast forward a few months later and my Vespa had the check engine light on and would stall at red lights. Not only was Rich able to diagnose the issue with my Vespa GTS 300, but he also managed to do it in under a day. It was clearly the first COMPLETE service that I have had on my bike since I bought it; I can honestly say that I now know what my bike is supposed to run like (it certainly did not run this way after the last two services). All I can say is Rich and his teams are fantastic. I have tried called about 10 different places from bike shops to scooter repairs nobody wanted to work on my Electric scooter. I brought my scooter over to this shop and he said he can fix it to give him about 4 days but he did everything in two days. FAR AWAY from those SCAMMERS.IS NOT EVEN A SHOP IS BACKYARD. He picked my scooter up from my place. We agreed at 120$. When he picked it up he asked for 140$.( No big deal so far) after 5 days he didn't know what my scooter had. The sixth day he started checking it out. We agreed to pay him 680$ and I will have the scooter ready in two days the latest. 250$( insane!!)diagnosis fee was included at the 680$.The day that I suppose to have my scooter ready he came up with more issues.so I got it a day after.That morning he called me asking me to pay him in cash or PayPal(suspicious) I got the scooter the next day but he asked me 1150$ for the repair. I was socked! He forced me to pay otherwise he wouldn't give me the scooter.he didn't gave me any guarantee.He didn't gave me any receipt of purchase for the parts that he supposed to repair. I paid and left with the scooter.AFTER 2 MILES RIDING, THE SCOOTER STOPPED WORKING. I CALLED HIM TO ASK HIM WHAT IS GOING ON WITH MY SCOOTER. HE REPLIED BACK TO ME "IS NOT MY PROBLEM". I have been taking my Vespa GTV 250 to Rich for the past three years. The first time I took it, he did a thorough check over and found some issues the prior service people didn't do properly, like tightening down some bolts (sorry, I'm not a mechanic). He is a fair and honest mechanic, always willing to teach me new things, like how to check the oil. Rich, did a fantastic job and there is no one else to whom I would take my scooter for servicing! He went through the entire scooter, and then gave me a tutorial (hence the name Scooter Doc). He took the entire scooter apart and replaced everything that was either worn out or broken. I also had him replace the tires, shocks and battery (good tires really make a difference on how it handles now). My scooter is a 2010 150 and it now rides better than it ever has; its faster, and handles like know other. I took a 2005 Vespa in for a quick check with Rich because it seemed to be idling rough. Rich was so thorough and so honest. He told me the Vespa runs great and no problems or concerns. But then he took the time to tighten some bolts around my wheels, followed me to a nearby gas station to fill up the tires with air and showed me exactly how to do it and what levels. Rich did an AMAZING job at bringing back to life a Vespa with a seized engine. He helped me find a new engine, installed it in my Vespa GTS 250, and fixed a number of other problems that were caused by a long period of neglect (this included a thorough cleaning from road salt that it had picked up in 2 years of New England winters). The Vespa is as good as new, and Rich has also spent a good amount of time instructing me how to take good care of it. What's more, he charged me a very reasonable price for all the work he put into it (the new engine was bought separately). I highly recommend him!
