I had the good fortune of acquiring a Vespa for a low cost, but the state of the scooter was unknown. So I stopped by the Bottega to ask a few questions and catch a vibe of the shop. Robbie and the other guys answered my inquiries as best as they could without seeing the bike and provided me with the contact number of a great tow service that picked my Vespa up in Queens and delivered it to the shop. I picked up my first scoot, a 2012 Vespa 300 that has seen better days, and they got it out the door, in the time expected. Pretty great experience here at Scooter Bottega. Robbie and his partner worked together to fix my scooter horn! I had to leave it with them for the day, but there's a bus stop right down the block that can get you back to Downtown Brooklyn, etc. And when I was trying to decide what type of scoot would be good, I called and he told me brands that were easy to find parts for yet reasonably priced (Kymco!). Hands down fastest service, and most skilled technicians I had work on my Vespa in NYC. Robbie knows how to fix the problem while keeping the cost down. Another place said I needed a $1200 wiring harness replacement job on my Vespa. Robbie isolated and fixed the issue for under $200 and that included a front tire, which was bold, and free oil top off. I could tell that it was very busy time for them, but Robbie got it done in less than 2 days. The other place said it would take at least 2 weeks. I can't say enough great things about Robbie and Scooter Bottega. After having a terrible (and costly) experience at Brooklyn Vespa, where they took a month to turn to my bike, ignored my calls, and still didn't fix the problem after charging me nearly $500, I emailed Robbie at Scooter Bottega who was attentive, honest, and genuinely wanted to get my bike back up and running. Mine weren't expensive repairs and he knew that, but he answered all my questions, worked around my schedule, trouble-shot different ideas, and, eventually, after really keeping with it, he got it back up and running perfectly fine. Robbie & Kevin are the best. I've been going to them for several years, since Nicholas of Brooklynbretta closed shop and directed us to Scooter Bottega. Kevin came over from Brookylnbretta I believe. They really know their stuff, provide great, comprehensive service and look out for their customers' well being and wallets. I have a '06 Vespa GT - and they keep it in top shape; I feel very confident knowing they pay great attention to detail. And on top of that, they are really nice guys. The only complaint would be that they are very busy - so you might need to wait a bit to get an appointment - but they are great at managing their schedule and telling you when they can get to your bike. So it's really not a complaint at all, but a reflection of the great work they do; they are busy because they are great. And I think the prices are quite reasonable for the experience you are getting. They also are very good at keeping you apprised of what the costs could be as they trouble-shoot an issue. I'll tell you what's not to like, a scooter shop that only works on vespas. I recently bought a rare vintage italian scooter that needed to be restored. Hence i loaded it up on a trailer and brought it down to the shop to take a look. Right off the back the place seemed like a hobby more than a profession, but then again there isn't a huge market and profit attached to fixing up and restoring vespas. Long story short i had to take the scooter back home and call in 4 days to speak to the owner who it turns out wouldn't even take a look at the scooter. Although im not a mechanic and couldn't fix it on my own i know enough about them to know that scooter/motorcycle engines work and are built on the same basic principle. I would not recommend a business that has such suspect customer service skills. I clearly brought in a scooter that they had no interest in working on, and that in itself is ok...just tell me as much. But they were so snobby and dismissive about it. And then when i thought to ask if they could help me locate a cover for my scooter that would fit it, they offered..."a garbage bag?" Now plenty of us have actually used a garbage bag before, but the way they smiled when they said it coupled with the start to finish poor attitude...they we're actually trying to insult my scooter...my scooter which is now well covered and in perfect running order no thanks to Scooter Bottega. I am an instant fan of Scooter Bottega! I took my Vespa there last week, after it had been parked outside for months and had become infested by rats! Not only was it DISGUSTING inside (even after hosing out as much rat shit, chicken bones and egg shells as possible), but the battery was totally dead and the rats had chewed up lots of wires and hoses. I was honest with Robby about the situation, and while he wasn't too excited about having to dig into the stinky unknown, he was totally cool about it. I would have expected anybody to at least give a little attitude or be kind of negative. Robby was really chill, seemed really straight-forward about what services were necessary and what was suggested. It was ready in HALF the time he originally quoted me, and the cost seemed really reasonable. I know very little about the guts that make my bike work, but he was very patient with me and answered all of my many questions about the service and pricing. read more
