Left my bike with Carlos in march of 2016, after all was said and done I received my bike in April of 2017. Over a year later! Granted, I needed a top end rebuild of my 81 Honda, but every time I called for an update it seems they were "waiting for a bench to open up". I was never given a courtesy phone call like he promised, I always had to call to find out information on my bike. When I finally got the call that my bike was finished I had my driver come by to receive the bike, after giving my driver the bike with no gas tank, seat, or battery Carlos claimed that he didn't own the shop and quickly disappeared. When I received the bike it had new rust spots on the brand new muffler, the tank was sun bleached, and there's was standing water inside all of my turn signals, tail light and headlight. It would appear that it was kept outside with no cover for the duration of its 1 year residence at Brooklyn Motor Works. After more careful inspection. Of the bike I found that the oil in the crankcase had water in it, the carbs were not put on the bike correctly, my fork seals had deteriorated from sitting outside for a year, the new top end they installed was missing some bolts( can chain tension bolt, and tachometer set screw), and the "electrical wiring " that they had charged me for had just not been done. So $2300 later I have a bike that I can't ride, and can't sell until I fix all the damage cause by this shops negligence. Carlos offered to take the bike back and fix some of the problems but at this point I wouldn't trust this shop with anything. Worst place ever. CARLOS works alone and has doing so for the past year. I know because that's how long he had my bike for. He has the gift of GAB talks a good game and over charges. He is not a dealer of anything, especially not a Cognito Moto dealer. If you call Cognito you can verify this. Those shops that are certified dealers will have signs up showing so. Notice that Brooklyn Moto Works does not have any signs or advertisements of any kind. That's because he is not a certified dealer. I FINALLY have my bike with half the work done, because after 1 YEAR to modify the frame he decided to raise his fee and charge extra for the work. This is how a business is supposed to be run and have outstanding customer service! My CB750 was in shambles until Carlos and Mike got their hands on it. Upgraded everything from soup to nuts with a Motogadget Blue system. Bike roars like a beast!!!! These guys are cycle gods. Knowledgable, patient, and just Super Cool dudes. You honestly just wanna grab a beer and watch them work their magic. I had taken it to a couple of local guys in the neighborhood but didn't have the expertise of wiring a Motogadget unit. My initial search brought me to A & J Cycle who claim they have experience with Motogadget....that statement is so far from the truth its unbelievable.....these guys are amateur hour. My bike had been with these guys for 5 months for my bike to get back to me with exposed wires and the bike stalling after a couple of blocks. It's safe to say I wont be going back there and warn anyone stepping foot in that part time shop. I finally called Brooklyn Motor Works, described the issue to Carlos and Mike and knew exactly what needed to be done. Received a quote within the week and bike was up and running after 4 days. I was fooled by this guy. He talks a good game I brought my bike in for a clogged fuel filter and I ended up rebuilding my super E carb for $350. My carb was over jetted 74/32 on an 88 S&S motor. I could not even breath at a red light from all the gas fumes. Carlos said this how it's supposed to be to keep the engines running cooler. Are you kidding me 88's don't run hot like 103ci & 110ci so I brought the bike to a Indian dealer and the mechanic said any body that would jet a cab on an 88 like this is stupid. My jetting is 64/25 perfect for an 88ci Carlos also charged me $100 for a loose heel shifter he said he had to re thread the shifter and it will never come loose. One week later the shifter was about to fall off so I took the shifter apart and low and behold he never did any of the work he claimed. All I had to do is add lock tight to the main bolt and 2 yrs later still good. So I gave the guy another chance and my battery was dead. Carlos put his multi meter to my battery and said my stater was bad and it would be smart to change the regulator. So he gave me a price to change both for over $900 but if I pay cash with no receipt he will do it for $780. I MUST LOOK LIKE AN IDIOT YOU CAN NOT TELL IF A STATER IS BAD BY THE BATTERY YOU HAVE TO PUT THE MUTI METER IN THE FEMALE PART OF THE STATER WHILE THE BIKE IS RUNNING. I brought my bike to Indian and they fixed my bike for $170.00 for an accel regulator and labor. Last thing I brought over my highway bars and asked if he can put them on and Carlos made another big deal about he has to get longer bolts and it's not that easy. So I went home and tried myself and all the stock bolts were the exact size no thee bolts were needed. WHAT A BUNCH OF CRAP THIS BROOKLYN MOTOR WORKS IS. THIS IS TO YOU CARLOS: IF I COULD GET AWAY WITH KNOCKING YOUR TEETH DOWN YOUR THROAT FOR ALL YOUR SCAMS AND LIES TO ME I WOULD. BUT I CHOOSE TO GET YOU WHERE IT HURTS MOST. So today I submitted the paperwork with NYS Business Licenses Dept to have their business license suspended in 21 days for non-payment of small claims judgement. Then I'll report them for operating an unlicensed business and have the place padlocked. The fines for that are massive. read more

Stay far away from this shop unless you got months to wait or endless amounts of cash as he will keep asking for more money than what he originally quoted. After paying him over $3000 to fix my motorcycle, nothing seemed to change from when I left it after promising me a like new bike. Then I gave the bike back to him and checked in every week to see how it was doing since it was my main form of transportation which concluded with him getting too frustrated with me checking in that he left my bike on the street down the block with the keys in the ignition. Don't believe it? He even was stupid enough to email me that he took it off the premises with the keys in the ignition. 11 weeks I waited and I couldn't see any difference, it was at least running when I gave it to him. Took it to a shop in queens and only $1000 later, the motorcycle was running better than it ever was. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Wow. What a joke. No respect for customers, a huge attitude, and a certain pretentiousness that only the new age of Brooklyn residents can attain. If they spent as much time caring about the bikes that come in as they do making sure their beards look good, maybe they'd actually do some real work. My friend came in with some electrical issues (nothing that a few solders couldn't fix), 2 weeks it sat in the shop with no one so much as even looking at the bike. After calling several times and getting attitude on the phone I told my friend we should just go there directly. When we showed up, they were extremely rude saying something along the line of "didn't we already tell you on the phone we'll check it out today?!" Yeah, you did. Just like you did the last 4 times we called. Long story short, they said they'd be able to "get it running but no guarantee the work for $1200, to make sure it's all fixed will be closer to $2400," we immediately got a tow truck and got it the hell out of there (but not before paying a $200 "evaluation fee"; assholes). The next shop I took it to was professional and courteous. Guess how much it ended up costing? $350. Run like new. These guys are a joke. If you want to exchange tattoo stories and get ripped off then go to them. If you want actual bike work done, don't go here. read more

I would give this dude 0 stars if possible. Dropped off a dual sport i didnt have time to work on , but was down to pay a bit extra to have it to play on sooner. Dude tells me the carb brass is mangled by previous owner ( no surprise there) and that he will need to order new parts + a spark plug. Fair enough. I ok it, he says a week or 2 for the parts and another week for the work. 3 weeks no word....i call and hes got some excuse about it being back ordered but now its on route...ok im patient. Takes another 2 weeks and he hasnt even updated me. I ask to pull the bike - at this rate i'll just do it. He hits me with some "oh it will be 250$ for a diagnostic fee" I'll pay you for the 1/2 hour you spent opening the carb but 250? Cmon dude. So i leave it with him, he eventually gets it running. I pick it up cruise around a bit and its got a leaky carb. So i took it apart- first thing i notice is dude didn't even replace the spark plug (charged me for an irridium one and there was a standard one in there...looking very worn and dirty. Strangely similar to the original. ) i brought this up and he tried to play me like "oh well you took it off the lot and maybe you swapped it" yeah dude i'm trying to scam you out of 8$ for an f'ing spark plug. Just admit you forgot or something jesus. Right there i knew this dude is damn liar. Not to mention once i got into the actual carb- brass still mangled, missing the main gasket. Didnt even look like he cleaned it. This dude charged me for parts he didnt install, labor he (probably) didnt do and then tried to play me at the end. AND took way too long. Carlos seems like a nice dude when you meet him but STAY AWAY from this scumbag who can't admit fault. Dishonest mechanics are a disservice to the game. Shame. read more

If you wanna get robbed this is the guy to see. My bike had a few simple repairs that needed doing that took about 45 minutes when i got the bike to a real mechanic. Not only did the repairs take 45 minutes but they cost me about a $100. Carlos wanted to charge me over a $1000 to "repair" things that weren't broken. On top of that he held my bike for god knows how long before I got it outta there because he was so "backed up". Not only will this guy rob you blind but if your willing to get robbed he'll keep your bike in his garage for months on end without ever touching it. I wish I had better things to say about my experience. 1 star because most of the work was eventually done, and done well. Only 1 star because of one of the worst business owners I've ever dealt with. I am a business owner myself, and from a customer service perspective, this was about as bad as I could imagine. I brought an 80's cycle I picked up cheap for some necessary repairs -- nothing major, a couple of days work -- new tire, new front brakes including rebuilt caliper and replaced master cylinder-- and a few other small things. I brought it to Carlos at the beginning of the riding season, knowing it'd probably take him a month or so to get to it with other bikes ahead of me. Knowing also that repairs and parts on an old somewhat rare bike could drag it out a bit longer than that. Fast forward nearly four months until I get a call that my bike is finally done. I go to pick it up and realize immediately he has not repaired a non-working turn signal. I had mentioned this necessary repair no less than four times and was told at one point along the way it was fixed. Fast forward 3 more weeks until this "additional" repair was made. Upon getting it back at this point, a front wheel alignment that I had asked for was still never done for me. During the course of this 4 month saga I was repeatedly told that my bike was in line to be worked on much sooner than it ever was, would likely be done sooner than it was, that parts had already been ordered when they had never been. Phone messages went unreturned, promises of follow-up calls with updates never came, and at one point the phone number was disconnected for a week. I understand the challenges of running a business smoothly and catering to many impatient customers, but running a business this way to me is inexcusable. Unfathomable to me that simple repairs could take four months to be completed (and not even completed at that). read more

After reading all the mixed reviews about this guy, I decided to give him a shot. $$$$ later, I only come to find I have been swindled like the rest. If you care to hear the full experience read on, if not take my review for what it is and hope this makes a change if the owner is actually reading. Just remember your safety is supposed to be in his hands. I came in for a simple tune up and need to get my pipes on my bike properly sealed. Had a backfiring issue. He inspected, sure as day the pipes seals needed replacement. Along with inspection he said I needed new fluids. Oil, brake lines needed to be bleed, and could use some pads. Fair enough. I take him on the offer and ask how long. He says 2 weeks. Ok. Two weeks pass no call nothing. Not even a phone call letting me know they are behind. I call his shop assistant answers. Nope sorry owners not in. Time after time! Grow up Fed up, I stop by and ask what's going on. He apologizes and tells me some parts were on back order but they just came in. He mentioned he sealed the pipes and changed out all fluids. The owner rolls it outside, starts it and said..see brother no more backfire. Come back in two days and I'll finish the rest of the stuff on the bike. Foolishly, I wait...2 days. 2 days go by, I call. Why do I even have to do that? Correct me if I'm wrong but who's the professional here? He should be calling me. Same exact cycle as before. I call-nope he's not in-call back in two days-same. Finally I show up he says again! Sorry your parts JUST came in. I'm like...? Is this your go to excuse? Parts? He senses my tension and fixes it on the spot. I wait outside, another bike owner showed up and told me this is expected here cause he has his own way of doing things. I waited 4 mins after that comment told him to lower the bike, started it, and took it somewhere else only to find the pipes had NO SEALS, and OLD FLUID. May this very loooooong review save you the MONTHS of no riding, and lots of cash. Ride safe. Ride smart. Go to a trustworthy mechanic your safety is in supposed to be in his hands. read more

my ducati 998 was stolen from me, and recovered by the police 6 months later. the thieves removed the VIN plate on the front fork. I have all the paperwork for the bike (original title, etc) . i brought it into Brooklyn Motor Works for repairs (leaking fuel line). 6 months later, no repairs, and a close to $1000 bill for storage (???). I wrote a negative yelp review for Brooklyn Motor Works at their old address. they retaliated by calling the police telling them they had a bike with no VIN plates. Undercover police scared the shit out of me, tackled me to the ground, my palms and knees were bleeding, i then spent 48 hours in an extremely crowded jail cell at Central booking, sleeping on a concrete floor (i have herniated discs, and have had epidural injections in my spine) with 5 or 6 hoodlum bodies surrounding me, eating nothing for two days but a few cubes of ice. i went to pick up my $17,000 ducati at the impound lot (after $2500 in legal fees to fight the criminal charges ) after my case was dismissed, and it was sold at a police auction. it's gone. then i had to hire another attorney with several more thousands in legal fees for my claim against the city for selling my bike at auction. this is a completely true story. don't go here. read more

I brought my 2012 Harley switchback into the shop to get the backfiring and popping noise out of the exhaust system. Harley Davidson was unable to tune the bike to solve the problem and recommended I try Brooklyn Motor Works. The owner, Carlos, is as the past reviewer stated friendly, outgoing and completely into his work. He tuned the bike to the point where I've got better throttle response, and NO back fires or popping noise on deceleration. I highly recommend this shop. The price was as expected. No add on's. There's a reason that Los' shop is always slammed, the guy knows what he's talking about. I brought in my 1973 Honda CB350F which has had a lot of custom work done to it and Los was very helpful in diagnosing the problem. I was having a battery recharge issue but I knew it wasn't my stator or regulator/rectifier. After tedious testing on all the wires, the problem was diagnosed. A lot of my wiring was original and was completely shot, ultimately leading to my battery not recharging. She now runs perfectly fine and my battery is charging and holding. Let's be honest here, this issue was probably not the most exciting project to enter his shop. It required decoding a lot of custom wiring to determine what the issue was. Tedious as it was, these guys were able to fix the problem and get me on the road for a wedding I had on Saturday. I was in a real pinch and they were able to accommodate. Will I be back? They found one small thing that needed to be fixed, did that, and lied about it so that they can charge me a heap extra. Look at how many of these reviews are telling you not to use this shop. I just purchased a new bike. Among the custom modifications on this bike, I understood it included a power commander. So when the motorcycle backfired a few times I figured the power commander needed to be balanced. Brooklyn Motor Works (BMW) is the approved dealer /service provider in town for power commanders. I called. Michael said 'sure bring it by, we are busy but we'd be happy to put your bike up on the bench and take a look'. During the drop off, Carlos sized up the bike and noted, in addition to the commander adjustments a couple of other repairs (plugs, a proper air filter) would help to remedy the back-fire situation, the modified exhaust pipes were likely the main cause. I was nervous about this shop after reading all the negative reviews. I was expecting the worst...I have to say the experience I had was completely opposite those described in the negative reviews AND I met a reputable motorcycle transporter (Joe-Tow) there during my drop off visit. I went back for the bike a couple days later, got the assessment and I decided to ride it as-is for a few months, save my dollars, then bring the bike back for the work another time. I have an older Moto Guzzi (1998) that I purchased about 1 1/2 years ago. Understanding that it is older, I took it to a local large Moto Guzzi dealership. After numerous trips to them they were never able to get the bike running properly. I understand that it is old and may require some help, but every time the other shop had it in, I got a different story with what is required to get it running to my satisfaction. In addition to that, I was constantly dealing with a new, young person on the phone. For being a large "hi-end" dealership I expected at least a professional demeanor when dealing with me. No such luck. I was disappointed and promised myself, and the bike, that I would do proper research and get it to a real professional. That's where Brooklyn Motor Works came in. I did a lot of research and follow up once I saw their web-site and the extremely positive reviews posted by customers.I didn't take any of them at face value and continued to conduct my research. At the end of my analysis, I was very comfortable with everything that I learned about Brooklyn Motor Works. I spoke with Dan and eventually Carlos, the owner. Each time they LISTENED and allowed me to explain the situation with the bike and what I was feeling. Not once did they try to interupt me and took very good notes won what I was telling them. We discussed what they assumed to be required, but we also agreed that only by them seeing the bike could they make an educated analysis and estimate. Brooklyn Motor Works is not near me, but I was comfortable with my research so I rented a U-Haul trailer and took the bike to them. Once they had it and completed a thorough diagnosis did we agree on how to proceed and what it would cost. Everything that we discussed was detailed and upon picking it up today, everything was done to a professional level and at the price that we discussed. There was no surprise as they took their time in analyzing the bike, not guessing, and I paid exactly what I expected to pay. Regardless if they are convenient to you or not I can assure you that they are worth the trip. If you really care about riding and want work performed on your bike at a fair price, THE FIRST TIME, you owe it to yourself as a rider to take your bike to them first. Don't bother with the other guys that have large fancy showrooms and many high-end lines. They're interested in selling bikes, not performing proper quality service. Get back on the road after one visit and go to Brooklyn Motor Works first. It's a decision you won't regret and your bike will thank-you for it! As a woman who is super busy I needed an outlet to get away from it all without actually going away on vacation......I was encouraged by some of my male friends to take the MSF course and see if I liked riding a motorcycle. I have driven manual transmission cars, tractors, trucks, I learned to drive a motor boat and sail a sailing vessel...... It didn't take much convincing; I was game! Fast forward....I did like it, a lot, I liked the freedom and the singular focus of enjoying and managing the ride, the wind.........I was bitten, I started reviewing and reading all I could to help myself to be a safer rider by looking for the right bike for my first bike and the right gear. I happened on a 2003 BMW f650cs, that was reviewed to be reliable and easy to handle with a balanced center of gravity, lighter weight and lower seat. Price was in my modest budget and it seemed like the right bike for me.........got it home and knew something was up as horn stopped working and battery was having trouble holding and keeping a charge (but seller had said it was a new battery??hmmm). As a new rider I wanted to focus on developing my riding skills, not doing my own wrenching! I knew I needed a local, relatable, trustworthy, and reliable motorcycle mechanic to support the well being of my new bike, so I can ride with the comfort of knowing I am doing the correct steps to ensure the safest experience possible. I would like to say I found Carlos and Brooklyn Motor Works 1st, but sometimes you need to experience the elitist arrogance of some cranky (nicest way to say it.lol) old biker mechanic dudes who (only in the USA) think they are keeping the 'sport pure' and newbie woman riders are to be discouraged and treated with disdain. LMBO......I was treated like I was asking for a sympathy date when I called a few shops trying to make an appointment to bring the bike in for an evaluation - One shop owner actually said he would 'call me' next week, when he had time to look at his schedule to see if he could fit me in for an appointment. RIDICULOUS! Not sure why so many take this attitude, but me, my bike, and my money will go where we are treated as a valued customer who, if satisfied, will seek to have all my motorcycle repairs and upgrades with one good local motorcycle repair shop. I was 0 for 2 with local shops when I decided to take a trip over to Brooklyn Motor Works in Red Hook (if you know where Ikea and Fairway Market is, it's easy to get to and 2 blocks walk from the B61 stop)............. all I can say is WOW...... what a difference! greeted like a human (not grunted at)...friendly, respected that I am a lady doing business in a male dominated arena and explained the process, evaluation fees to be deducted from repair fees if work done there (intellectual property is not free, ladies and gentlemen, it's earned over years of experience). Made me feel welcome, made sure I understood what rates were and variables of the time frame for work to be done depending on what issues were found during the evaluation. Turns out the electrical issues where not catastrophic and I had not bought a lemon. Prior owner added some aftermarket toys and spliced them in a poor location that, when removed to sell the bike, caused the parasitic drain on the battery. Brooklyn Motor Works was able to repair and return bike to me in 5 days and gave my bike a thumbs up and I have had no further electrical issues. Carlos guaranteed the work that was completed. All of the work was detailed in a very clear electronically emailed invoice, But, Carlos also took the time to explain all work completed and validate that I have a good bike that can go for many more miles when I picked up the bike. Can this go any better? No, it can't...it was perfect. Ladies, If you have gotten the gender-tude or you have to have a man along to translate your motorcycle needs, than your at the wrong shop. Take your business and your bike over to Brooklyn Motor Works - they appreciate diversity in people and motorcycles! Bottom line: I'm new at this and it will take time and experience for me to become experienced. It is definitely encouraging to have friends who have no gender or MC brand bias and not only support, but encourage my riding skills growth. So, glad that I found Carlos and Brooklyn Motor Works to add to my circle of friends, as I needed to have a solid, sound, reasonable motorcycle mechanic to help me stay safe and enjoy this ride! read more

The Owner/Lead mechanic Carlos at Brooklyn Motorworks is undoubtedly the best Brooklyn has to offer! Carlos has been my Mechanic for 2 years, after a series of bad experiences with other mechanics. I've been so impressed and happy with the service and quality of Carlos' work. Recently I got a Flat tire on my KTM, I called Carlos and he had me bring the bike right in. As I drove up to the shop of course there were another 30+ bikes there to be serviced, which I found unsurprising since these guys are the best. He got my my bike patched and ready in a matter of minutes. He also took the time to point out other wear and tear situations on my bike that could have been life threatening. He helped my find the best parts for the best prices and as also provided me insights into how to continue to pursue my track dreams and the kind of work my bike needs to be race ready. Great shop, good work. Carlos and his crew help keep you on the road. They do just about anything you can throw at them and work on most sleds you can ride or carry into their shop. I'd had some work perviously done a year ago, and decided to go back for some wiring. This can be simple or tricky depending on how many hands have been into that snake pit, and mine was a good mess. After some time, they got all the kinks worked out and buttoned up fine. Los spent some extra hours to get it all even steven as it was all about mapping what's there and what goes to what, as most of it wasn't text book. All in all, he didn't even charge me the extra time. Do check them out, it's one of the great RedHook shops in the community there. They do good work and keep you riding. read more

I ride two of the more obscure bikes around: a Husqvarna 701 and a 2005 Harley V-rod. I brought them both to Carlos in Redhook. His approach is exactly as you would hope and expect. He began with a complete assessment of where the bikes stood when I brought them in, made a number of excellent suggestions for improving the bikes' performance and rideability, got the parts and went to work. The Husqvarna is a odd duck and I was adding a high performance muffler that would have thrown the fuel mixture off. Carlos knew of an obscure Danish company that developed a highly specific electronic solution that kept my bike running better than before the pipes were installed. The V-rod had been customized by a guy much taller than myself, and hence my handlebars required that my arms be outstretched to the max. With a small, inexpensive modification, the bars fell back about two or three inches toward me and gave me a much more comfortable position. He also did a great job on replacing dim turn signals and stop lights with ultra bright programmable ones. I'm much more visible on the road now and the bike works great. Thanks, Carlos. read more

The owner Carlos ripped me off right to my face. He said a whole bunch of "BS" that i didn't believe but I really wanted my bike to be pristine. He took advantage of my love for my bike and sucked my wallet dry. To top that, he starts rambling about a million other things that "need" to get done, so that he could make more money off me. I've brought my HD Street 750 here a couple times. The best part is that the work is always top notch. You really can't get much much better, the parts are decent and they're under warranty. That said, I haven't had any engine work done. Only body work, throttle, etc. They are pretty timely also. The reason why I didn't give 5 stars is because it is pretty expensive. read more

Came to these guys 2 days before a 1000-mile road trip on a used Sportster I'd just bought. I didn't think there'd be time for anything, was just hoping to pick up an oil filter maybe - but Carlos and Gentry found time to do a full tune-up and shakedown of the bike. Carlos is the ONLY motorcycle mechanic I've met who understands how to treat a customer. He did major work on my bike following poor repairs at other shops in the area. I was so impressed with the results and his professional process that I'm a customer for life. The long version: Had been searching for a competent mechanic in NYC since I purchased my 2012 Kawi Ninja in August. Took it to Speed Motorcycles on 84th street - highly unpredictable. I could never be sure that my bike would be ready on time. They also replaced the wrong set of pads, leaving back brakes that were still dangerously low. The owner, Manny, was unapologetic. He wasn't willing to talk details and educate the customer. Then went to Prospect Powersports. These guys should never be allowed to hold a screwdriver, let alone "repair" a motor vehicle. Shipped some tires for them to install, and asked them to retune my carbs. They drilled the plugs out of my carbs without removing them (to save time), permanently damaging the air seals. They also mounted a motocross tire on the rear of my bike because the manufacturer drop-shipped the wrong one. Only after the tire was on the bike did they realize their mistake (the thing looked like an ATV tire - it was obviously not right).I had to pull teeth to get them to swap it for a suitable tire when it came from the warehouse. If you wanted to be treated like garbage by morons who destroy your bike, Prospect Powersports is the place to go. You'll have plenty of time to meditate on it too; both of my relatively simple visits took five hours due to their poor time management. I found Brooklyn Motor Works while sitting in a coffee shop waiting for Prospect Powersports to be done. Called and Carlos answered almost immediately. Then something magic happened. We actually had a conversation. No mechanic prior had ever bothered to talk about my bike with me. Carlos asked real questions and actually cared about my situation. I went directly to his shop following the Prospect disaster. Brooklyn Motor Works is out on the tip of Red Hook. It's a cool area - industrial, and right by the water. I knew when I got there that this would be a different type of experience. Carlos went over my bike in fine detail and explained every necessary repair. He heard my questions, listened, and addressed. He then provided a detailed written estimate, by item, for my approval. Find another NYC motorcycle repair shop that does that. I dare you. On the day of service, Carlos took off the farings and discovered what Prospect had done to my carbs. He called me immediately and formulated a repair plan that was very close to the original estimate. He ultimately delivered my bike on time and in top shape. Before it was limping along. Now, I know that I can trust it to perform. I will be returning to Brooklyn Motor Works for every future service need. Carlos knows how to manage customers, and does a damn good job fixing motorcycles. It's that simple. read more

After reading a ton of good and bad reviews about all the shops in the area, I decided to just stop by them myself to make my own opinion. As I live close by I decided to drive by Brooklyn Motor Works. Glad that I did, as I didn't have to go any further. Carlos the owner was still working, on a Sunday. I was planning to put new pipes and a new air cleaner on my 2000 Fatboy and needed help rejetting the carb. He educated me that the smarter choice would be to change the entire carb from the stock CV to a S&S super E as that will help with the performance of the bike and also save me money in the long run, as I would probably be back to get the carb exchanged anyways sometime in the future. He really went out of his way to explain all the details and benefits of doing that change, instead of just rejetting the stock carb. We ended up ordering the part that same day and it came in on Tuesday and I was on the lift on Wednesday and drove away that same day! One of the things I personally value a lot is his philosophy of an open garage. I was able to stay for the entire time of the built and could watch learn and ask questions, which Carlos was always happy to answer. He and his apprentice Chris, who has the greatest job in the world, are a great team and I feel very confident in bringing my bike there knowing it will be treated like own of their own. UPDATE: Went to Carlos at Brooklyn Motor Works again, and again he convinced me that it was the right decision to go there in the first place. Despite from running down my breaks, I had problems shifting and the first gear jumping out. He did a couple tests and told me that I had bend my shifter by not having enough oil between the clutch discs, which would have been an easy fix if I would have come earlier. He helped me finding the right and best parts to exchange and squeezed me into his busy schedule to get my bike back on the road. I took my bike to Carols at the start of the summer to have new tires put on. They were done and off I went. Close to the end of the summer I noticed that the back tire was actually put on in the wrong direction. I was a bit bummed that I had not noticed and I should have. I called Carlos up and explained the situation. He immediately took responsibility and stood behind his work. Truth is his intern put the tire on. We set up a date and time to fix it and that is exactly what he did. He also made me aware of the wheel being out of true and suggested I don't take it over 100 miles an hour to avoid a "death wobble" Thank you for that!!! I had a fairly badly damaged valve stem on my front wheel and was referred to Brooklyn Motor Works by another shop in the neighborhood. This turned out to be a stroke of luck as the tire wasn't likely to hold air for much more than a short trip. Despite showing up unannounced, Carlos squeezed the repair and mounting of the new tires in as quickly as was possible and I really appreciate it. I'll be happy to return in the future. Went and saw Carlos about my Suzuki boulevard about 2 months ago. At first the bike wasn't shifting into second gear and I feared the worst. Carlos presented both the good and bad scenarios of what the problem could be from the get go so I knew what I was getting into financially before any work was done. A few days later, miraculously the problem was not as big of a fix as he had thought, and was actually a problem with the oil distribution throughout the bike. All in all bike was fixed properly and has been running great since then. Carlos was a chill, down to earth guy who put a lot of things in perspective about my bike in terms of upkeep etc, as well as a very professional mechanic. He has my business from now on. read more
