This particular model is well known for having electrical issues and on more than one occasion I have been stranded mid-ride due to theses issues causing a dead battery. I reached out to Mark and he responded promptly and helped me come to grips with the situation and the options available. He was extremely knowledgeable about the issue and accommodated me bringing in the motorcycle ASAP. Mark even went out of his way to provide me with some options for towing my bike in. My motorcycle was ready to pick up way sooner than I anticipated and throughout the whole process Mark kept me in the loop. He was friendly and down to earth. I went home before renting a space though, because I wanted to research my options in North Brooklyn and found that Brooklyn Moto was definitely fairly priced for 24hr access to my bike, heated garage with air/water/outlets for battery tenders and on-site mechanics. It's been 3 months now at Brooklyn Moto and the owner Mark has been a great help in the process of learning to be a better rider. When we've talked it's been about everything from understanding basic bike maintenance to different riding techniques and recommendations on books to read, roads to try and gear to keep me warm when I'm too excited to wait till spring. The peace of mind having my bike safe was top priority in renting a space, and all the fringe benefits--telling stories with fellow riders, having an owner who will lend a hand without hesitation and mechanics who will offer advice--will keep me as a Brooklyn Moto member as long as I'm riding. read more

I'm writing this review from the side of the road where my bike has broken down with a dead battery. I just called Mark at Brooklyn Moto and within 60 seconds of explaining my problem he is already on the way to help me. Granted I'm maybe 15 minutes away from the shop, but that kind of service and generosity is extremely rare in this city and in the world of motorcycle shops. Support these guys. They are honest and extremely helpful. Mark is a beast. Turns it around faster than any shop I've been to, and always diligent with the work. Good eye for custom mods too; stuff as particular as moving the angle of the dials down for a tighter look. Few shops would bother with that level of detail. Also on the custom front- he presents the baller option alongside some less expensive alternatives. Never pushes the baller option aggressively. Of course, you should always go baller, but it's nice to not feel pressured to spend beyond what's necessary. On my first visit, he gave me a chicken wing out of his lunch. The chicken wing was mediocre (3 stars on yelp), but the gesture is very telling of the shop vibe. Great dudes. read more

I've been here a couple of times now and I'm leaving this review after a very helpful visit yesterday. I first took my Ducati Monster 696 there a couple of years ago after I slid out on some gravel and dumped my bike, bending the brake pedal. I spoke to Mark on the phone and he told me that they might be able to bend it back, but if it broke, they would and could replace it with one that was in stock. They were able to bend it, then suggested I get an oil change (I was definitely due). In and out in about 40 mins. Great service. I got an inspection on my Ducati Monster 1100 at another shop back in June. At that time, I was told that my brake pads were dangerously low and was offered the service by the shop. I opted out and decided to ride a bit longer with the ones I had. Since I do mostly commuting and city riding, the idea of having dangerous brakes was weighing on me, and, although I wasn't necessarily having brake issues, I decided that they must be done. I brought it to Mark yesterday and he was very quick to tell me that I was given some bad advice and that my brakes, along with everything else on my bike, were in pretty good condition. I'm very grateful for his honesty and that he took the time to completely look over my bike and answer some other questions about some clutch noise concerns, etc, staying past closing time to do so and not charging me a single dime. I've been going to BK Moto for a number of years now, and have always had great results. If your bike is in need of repair or service, and you want a BS-free solution...take it to Mark. He's an encyclopedia when it comes to the modern day platforms. Also, he'll do little things like top-off and bleed the brakes, or check the torque settings on certain bolts, just because he wants to know the bike will perform and be safe when it leaves his shop. A word of warning: They absolutely won't service vintage motorcycles, particularly old Japanese motorcycles. Not at all. I'm not talking about complex rebuilds or repairs, I'm just talking about basic maintenance stuff, things that are low-investment for a shop to do, even if you provide the part (example: a drive chain swap). Even if you offer to pay up-front, and ask super-nicely, they'll still say no. What else can I say? Their website's "about" page says they welcome vintage bikes, but it's certainly not true. There are other perfectly good shops that won't discriminate. read more

I lucked out when the first spot I tried was brooklyn Moto. Having owned other types of vehicles before I have a general distrust of mechanics. Marc has changed my attitude with his approach. He gives it to you straight and is always honest when it comes to cost. The shop is a great place to be to learn about anything on two wheels. Mike who works there will also take good care of your bike. There isn't a problem they haven't been able to fix yet on my Ducati. This is a place I'm happy to throw down my money because I know they only suggest work that is needed and the guys will give you multiple cost options if your budget is tight. They even offer a storage service! I'm planning on starting a custom project with Mark and I couldn't be more excited. One time, my bike was having some battery issues. I purchased the wrong battery and plugged it in with the wrong polarities. It ended up blew the fuse. Idiot me, figured that the reg/rectifier was dead. I took the bike to Brooklyn Moto and said I thought there was something wrong with the regulator/rectifier system and he took a quick look at it. He replaced the blown fuse in a matter of minutes, and handed the bike back to me charging me for only 1/2 hours work and the fuse. He could have easily strung me along and had me replace the entire electrical system and I would have never been the wiser. They say that you are at the mercy of your doctor and your mechanic. At least I can feel confident that my mechanic won't cheat me. I've been burned by a shop in the past and that experiences has made me very suspicious. I can feel confident that Mark and his team are on the job now. read more

I am 100% sold on Mark working on my '18 Ducati Monster 1200S. First off, I texted him after-hours and he called me back within a 1/2 hour. Then, he let me drop my bike off before he opened to accommodate me (an hour before he opened). I wanted him to do the first service and install a tail tidy (because a friend of mine helping me stripped one of the OEM bolts). Mark actually turned away my business for the first service because he said it's possible Ducati could deny any warranty claims. That level of honesty is hard to find in the hustle that is NYC. He installed the tail tidy and removed all the frame stickers, exactly as he promised, on-time, and for exactly what he quoted. I am going to get my 600-mile service done at Ducati-NYC, but all my other Ducati needs will go to Mark at Brooklyn Moto. You don't feel like he's trying to sell you on something, but just giving you his honest opinion and offered to match prices online for parts. It is so refreshing to find a guy that still lives by the motto that he works to earn your business with honest and good work. My Ducati Monster will definitely be back at Brooklyn Moto! read more

Ross took such good care of me. Even though I was stranded in their area and my bike isnt particularly their expertise, they still didnt leave me hanging. Ross did a diagnostic and realized it may be an engine problem but sought out a second opinion, which happened to be accurate. Hes a man of integrity and his word, which you cant put a price on. Place is the worst motorcycle shop i have ever dealt with. I dropped the bike off to be customized, was quoted 2-3 weeks and around $1,600. I didn't get the bike back until 3 months after the date i was promised, he dodged my phone calls and texts, and best of all the bill was $3,100 when he finally released the bike. $ months later the back brakes which he customized locked up on me due to a bad sensor, the bike literally went from 65mph to 0mph on the Williamsburg bridge in seconds. I reached out to him and he didn't respond until maybe about 2 weeks later informing me that the issue had nothing to do with the work he did. I requested if i could bring in the bike, he said yes. I dropped the bike off on August 7th and was promised multiple dates to have the bike done by. He never honored one of them. Finally after dodging multiple texts again he promised to have the bike back to me before November 1 because i had a photoshoot with the bike. He called me the evening of the second to come pick up my bike. lol ... I then picked it up the next day and he charged me $680 for fixing what he destroyed through faulty work. 3 weeks later I'm on the west side highway and my bike stalls in traffic. I had Ducati pick it up and they gave me an estimate of $2,300 to repair it, and i swear to god they even asked me, "Who the hell was working on your bike because you have a bad starter motor and clutch, a missing generator cover bolt, broken off bolt in stator that will need to be drilled out, and the master link was installed wrong!" This place is BAD NEWS!!! NEVER TRUST HIM WITH YOUR BIKE!!! read more

I was introduced to the owner of this shop a few years ago while I was having some serious issues with my bike. Ducati Soho wanted me to make an appointment six weeks out, then went out of business due to management issues... I had been to other shops, which I won't mention--and there are a few shops I wouldn't even consider. At the end of the day, Mark fixed my bike quickly--within a week--saving it from the inelegant demise of being parted out. Five stars for being friendly, knowledgeable and fair. Brooklyn Moto merged with another shop for a short while, but is back on the block! I've recommended this shop to to other riders looking for a great mechanic or a place to store their bike. I stored my motorcycle for Winter 2013 for 3 months. Mark lost both my keys (ignition and top box). It was hassle for me to get my replacement key. Mark took 4 months to pay me for the replacement key and I still cannot find a locksmith who can make my top box key. read more

Great service!!! Fast turn around and the best part it didn't' rape my wallet. I don't let just anyone work on my bike, but these guys know what they are doing. I took my bike in to Ducati NYC and it was there for a month with no service. Took it to them and it was out within a few days.They know their bikes, especially Ducatis, and they are stand up mechanics. They towed my bike in from the city and fixed it. It sucks that its not in the city but its one stop in Brooklyn on the L train. I got to the shop about an hour before my bike was finished but the had a comfy couch and Playstation 3 to keep me busy. The store is small and has a good quality helmets in stock along with some cool shirts. They can also order you a wide variety of parts for your bike. I wish I lived closer to them I would like to park there. Its hard to find good garages with 24hr access. They will always have my business. read more
