I didn't enjoy my visits here as much as others. I went there because I live close by. A year ago, I stopped by for an inspection. I pulled up in front of the shop and got off the bike, I see one mechanic wrenching on a Harley while chatting with another guy. I'm guessing they're Jimmy & Greg as other reviewers know them. I stand there for a minute or so, totally ignored like a fool. Finally the none working guy turns towards me and casually asked what I need. I greeted him and told him I need an inspection, gave him the papers and he proceed with the inspection. Having read one of the previous reviews about them charging $10 for inspection, after he was done I asked "How much?". It was $10. Talk about dishonesty. Other shops I've been to charges the standard $6. The inspection was quick though. This year I stopped by again in a pinch for an inspection. I got there 15 min before closing, rushed inside finding them sitting around chatting. They saw me and continue to chat about nothing important. Again, I stood there totally ignored like a fool (deja vu). Then the same guy who inspected my bike last time comes out of the bathroom and asks "How can I help you?". I told him I need an inspection. He sarcastically repeats "Can we get an inspection?", one of the guy that was sitting around when I walked in answers "No, we're closed. Come back tomorrow before 4." Can't you have just told me that when I walked in? Yet you left me standing there like a lost child. You still have 15 min before you close...if you don't want to stay open until 6 PM then change your business hours. Anyways I thanked them and left. As I was standing outside looking for another shop that open later, they started locking the place up. To me, their attitude seemed snarky. I end up going to Cycle Therapy, much nicer people and they charge $6 for inspection. Manuel at Speed Motorcycle is super friendly, did a great job on my previous bike. People at MotorGrrl is alright, $6 for inspection. Heck, even my dealership charge $6. It's all about first impression and honesty. read more

I brought the bike in as it wouldn't turn over. I figured after sitting in the garage for months I might as well get the maintenance and inspection done. Jimmy, Greg, Jack, and Jill, run a neat shop. I like the fact that Jimmy takes time to explain everything and doesn't mind answering customer questions. Initial impressions - They did a few things right by sharing what I could expect, explaining costs, and providing advice on how to mitigate future problems. It's not overly crowded which makes this shop a nice find (so don't broadcast it). Advice is free, just ask. Costs are not flexible but seem to be fair. Bike purrs like a kitten! So these are my new guys in Queens. Much better than a stealership. BTW - I found it convenient to take the Q19 bus on Astoria down to 49th street and then cross over to the other side of the BQE (which saved me from having to ask someone to ride me down for the bike pickup). read more

Jimmy and Greg are straight shooters. They not only told me the problems with my bike, but suggested cheap ways of fixing the problem with security. I have a hectic schedule and with their high intake of clients they still kept my bike in their shop and prept it. I've used this place twice before to get my annual inspection done and Jimmy and Greg have always been quick and straight forward. I recently had the unfortunate luck to have stalling issues on my Ducati. I had the bike towed to their shop after giving them a ring the next morning and deciding not to pay dealership prices. Being the detail oriented worry wort that I am, I ended up doing a lot of research on the symptoms of my bikes problem that night and figured it to be due to one particular issue common to ducatis and panic-ordered the part online. Greg and jimmy took a look at it and confirmed that that was the case and got the bike to me in 1.5 days (which isn't bad given the number of bikes in their shop). I was charged what I felt was a reasonable price for the labor put into the bike (I dropped off the part when it came in) and consistent with my previous encounters, Greg was great to work with. Even got some free advice from him on aftermarket parts. The pictures already up are pretty accurate. They work mostly on sport bikes (ranging from what looks like older models to some of the newer) but I've seen a few choppers in the shop from my visits. It's good to have a reliable shop around. And the only surprise I have is from the lack of reviews on this place with all the bikes waiting to be worked on. I'll be coming back here for all my maintenance work and anything else I might need! read more

The good: Brought my bike there for an inspection and it was an absolute 20 second breeze. The inspector was friendly and didn't try any of the usual stealership hustle bull$&^ where they either tell you "the machine is down" or "come back during a full moon on a Monday when pigs fly down Ditmars Blvd and the hipsters leave Astoria". They also didn't try the usual "well we can't pass it unless you have us fix hundreds worth of stuff". I can appreciate that honesty and brevity. The bad: I don't remember names. One guy I dealt with there was a bit of a prick to me for no reason but seemed a little...slow. He gets a partial pass on account of that. I'm a big boy and not a people person myself so I didn't take it to heart but come on. I'm paying your bills, treat me with a modicum of respect when I greet you. The ugly: They overbilled for the sticker and never gave a receipt. It was stupid on MY part not requesting any documentation (what if my sticker is lost/stolen?) so I'll overlook that. It was also stupid on my part for not knowing what a moto inspection costs because I could have questioned the elevated price on the spot. I paid it but said to myself "that seems a little high" then went home and Google'd it. Apparently it's pretty darn illegal to charge a penny more than $6.00 for a moto inspection. Look, I know shops hate doing inspections because there isn't much in it for them. I know that a shop who passes you with no sweat is worth its weight in gold. You could make the case that for a native I ought to know the way things work in Queens. The reality is I would have given them as much as I did and said "keep the change" because the process was so painless...but I don't appreciate the ruse. In conclusion: I have mixed feelings about the place. I can look past the one grumpy dude but I was definitely turned off when I found out they overcharged me. No, this wasn't a misunderstanding where I handed over too much and they thought "maybe it's a big tip". They explicitly said a number higher than $6.00. It's possible but not likely that I will go back next year. read more

It's a good small shop, excellent mechanic partners/owners who are friendly, knowledgeable and honest. They mounted and balanced two tires correctly that I ordered from Motorcycle-Superstore and inspected my Harley. While they work on all bikes they specialize in sport bikes. Nonetheless I was relived that I did not have to deal with the smug, novices you too often find at Harley dealer "mechanics". I recommend and will use again. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this shop. Have brought my bike in many times, always top quality work, affordable, and timely. For instance, once my bike wouldn't shift, had to get a tow there, was totally worried I'd need expensive work or even a new clutch. Jimmy called me later that same day, problem was fixed, just one hour labor to fix a bent part of the shifter. The only time I've ever had to wait was for parts orders, and even then they always told me up front and was always finished within a week. Jimmy was very helpful. I came in with my vespa because it was sounding funny. I was told by another motorcycle mechanic that the gasket on the muffler needs to be replaced for $90. Jimmy immediately worked on my bike and explained to me that the clamp was just loose and he just needed to tighten the bolts. Problem solved and I saved $90. read more

Don't bother coming to this place smh. I called during the week to verify what time they are open. They confirmed Saturday was open till 4pm. I rode all the way there from afar because I wanted to give a small shop my business. I get there and I ask about service, it is 1230pm way before 4. And they say "we're closed". The guys that run this shop are excellent mechanics as well as all around nice guys. I've found the prices are reasonable, even cheap, and I didn't feel they were taking advantage of me as a woman. I didn't get that "double standard" feeling that you sometimes get, no sidelong glances, just straight dealings and I appreciated it. Shop was clean and easy to get to, right by the BQE and the GCP. They are a full service shop and take credit cards, too. I just really like these guys and hope everyone goes there- it's so hard to find a good mechanic. read more

Job took a lot longer than expected and that it should have. At $75 an hour for labor, I would have been better off going to the dealer at $110 an hour. However, not many bike shops in the area and the guys who work on the bike seem decent. read more

This is my 1st review on Yelp and this shop is the reason why I am doing this. Jimmy and Greg are great down to earth knowledgeable guys. I went in there to get my old tires replaced and balanced and Jimmy noticed I had a really bad fork seal leak. He did not pressure me into replacing but did explain the importance. This is my 1st bike and lets just say he gave me a break on the price and he got everything done in 4 hours! I had other work done to the bike as well.
