Sean is a down to earth and caring person , help me purchased my first bike! And treated me like family

Came by to get a moto bike helmet, was greeted by Shawn who was super rad, he not only allowed me to park my e-bike in the back, I just purchased it, and wanted to get a helmet from a local shop, and THIS IS THE PLACE! Found my helmet, Shawn looked out, and even let me hang out to let the rain pass. Solid store, solid people. BTW! NO BIKES OR MOTO BIKES ALLOWED IN THE SHOP. Just in case anyone just pops up

I bought my first bike here and Sean was super attentive during negotiations and getting back to me via text and email. We had the deal nailed down before I even got there, which was really relieving. I was coming from Pennsylvania as they were the nearest shop that had the Royal Enfield Signals 350 I wanted. They really rep RE well there and I highly recommend going to see their showroom upstairs, which was sizable. I had no idea the place had that much room, but with an elevator they really were able to expand what appears to be a smaller shop from the outside, especially considering it's in NYC. Situated next to an el track, this place really has a great corner spot. Sean assisted my dad and I with our U-Haul moto trailer and helped strap it up correctly and get us out of the door with everything we needed. It felt like a busy day in the shop with repairs, but Sean made every effort to keep checking in and walked the bike out with us. It was a 4 hour journey through some awful traffic and getting there was a blessing in itself, so it was nice that we got a warm welcome. He showed us the shop and other bikes as well, which were really shined up and impressive. I imagine it's tough to find niche shops like this even in a big city, but this has to be one of the coolest you could find. Everyone inside was kind and friendly and they were excited to see me on my first motorcycle. My only gripe was that when I got home I had the Meteor manual in the bag instead of the Classic 350. Sean had also promised some free Royal Enfield swag for us and that didn't come right away - I had to call to remind them to send me the proper manual. Sure enough, when I called in a nice shop employee wrote down the information and a week later the RE shirts arrived and a month later, the manual arrived too. My guess is that it had to come from India since the other manuals were likely spoken for by the bikes in the store respectively, I just wish I had gotten that stuff sooner. Still, even almost a year after purchase, the store and staff came through on their promises. I also imagine that wheeling and dealing takes attention off the little things like that on a daily basis, so I probably got lost in the mix. This was a fun shop and I fully intend one day to make a trek back up there. They offer a discount on a apparel if you buy from them, which is very cool. If you enjoy the retro style bikes, this is a perfect spot to see some, but they had the high performance and street bike styles there too. Go check it out!

Super grateful to Sean for helping me find the right bike for my size and skill level, and to Roseann for talking me through the whole financing process. My bike fits me perfectly. *I also appreciate that he didn't laugh at me when I called him on my ride home to ask how to open the gas tank - just talked me through it and all was well.

I purchased my first motorcycle from this business and couldn't have asked for a better service! Sean, I'm assuming the owner of that business was very friendly and informative. He answered all my questions and took his time explaining things.. everything was straight forward from the pricing to the process. I would recommend this business to everyone either getting your first motorcycle or upgrading to a bigger bike.. my first was a Honda CBR500R.. absolutely love it

(I am posting this review anonymously)…read more I am conflicted as I write this review. Hugh (owner & chief mechanic) and Fumi (mechanic) are extremely competent, old-school mechanics, and their positive reputation is well-deserved. Hugh is responsible for keeping the sub-culture of vintage British motorcycles alive and well, in the dealer-infested NYC. I have used the mechanic shop since 2016. I really wish them well and want the shop to continue to succeed. However, over the last couple of years I have had bad experiences with them. Josh who is now the shop manager is lacking in people skills, communication, dependability, follow-through, courtesy & humility and other principles of basic customer service. It is not easy to bypass him, given he also blocks the customers from talking to Hugh directly which is odd given part of the great experience with Sixth St Specials used to be the friendly contact with the mechanics who work on your bike. Most recently, the brand new tyres they installed in June 2020 developed side-wall cracks despite just 6 months/3K mile use. I had diligently inflated the tyres to the manufacturer-recommended PSIs, ridden the motorcycle non-aggressively on tarred roads, and winterized the motorcycle on the center-stand in a weather-controlled garage etc. When I asked for help with filing a warranty claim with the tyre manufacturer Josh was unhelpful despite multiple calls and never followed through. I had to contact the tyre manufacturer directly and have them call the shop to get the purchase details in order to file the claim. Last year, I had poor experiences dealing with Josh as well (for e.g. he insisted that my motorcycle did not have liquid cooling even though it did, pushed me towards the brand of tyre he had in stock, mounted the tyres despite my forewarning that the manufacturing dates were more than 5 years old, gave me strict ultimatums on deciding various options of fix for a rear brake light trigger etc.) I believe this issue is fixable and I hope the shop does not lose its hard-earned reputation because of the shop manager.
