I bought my first bike here and Sean was super attentive during negotiations and getting back to me via text and email. We had the deal nailed down before I even got there, which was really relieving. I was coming from Pennsylvania as they were the nearest shop that had the Royal Enfield Signals 350 I wanted. They really rep RE well there and I highly recommend going to see their showroom upstairs, which was sizable. I had no idea the place had that much room, but with an elevator they really were able to expand what appears to be a smaller shop from the outside, especially considering it's in NYC. Situated next to an el track, this place really has a great corner spot. Sean assisted my dad and I with our U-Haul moto trailer and helped strap it up correctly and get us out of the door with everything we needed. It felt like a busy day in the shop with repairs, but Sean made every effort to keep checking in and walked the bike out with us. It was a 4 hour journey through some awful traffic and getting there was a blessing in itself, so it was nice that we got a warm welcome. He showed us the shop and other bikes as well, which were really shined up and impressive. I imagine it's tough to find niche shops like this even in a big city, but this has to be one of the coolest you could find. Everyone inside was kind and friendly and they were excited to see me on my first motorcycle. My only gripe was that when I got home I had the Meteor manual in the bag instead of the Classic 350. Sean had also promised some free Royal Enfield swag for us and that didn't come right away - I had to call to remind them to send me the proper manual. Sure enough, when I called in a nice shop employee wrote down the information and a week later the RE shirts arrived and a month later, the manual arrived too. My guess is that it had to come from India since the other manuals were likely spoken for by the bikes in the store respectively, I just wish I had gotten that stuff sooner. Still, even almost a year after purchase, the store and staff came through on their promises. I also imagine that wheeling and dealing takes attention off the little things like that on a daily basis, so I probably got lost in the mix. This was a fun shop and I fully intend one day to make a trek back up there. They offer a discount on a apparel if you buy from them, which is very cool. Sean asked me for a review. The quality of the work was very basic. What I got was a rush job and then incredibly overcharged. I've worked with Mike from the sales department before, he's solid. That's why I went there to see about fixing my scooter. For what it's worth, I definitely WON'T be coming back for any more services. I learned my lesson. The hard way. My recommendation is go to Honda Yamaha in Queens, it may take a while to get your bike back and the manager Chris seems all over the place at times, but they do good business over there, good work, and they won't rip you off. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM BECAUSE THEY WILL STEAL FROM YOU IF YOU LACK KNOWLEDGE IN REPAIR SERVICE AND IF THEY DON'T KNOW YOU. THIS is in no way an advice, and it's based solely on my experience with them. They may have 2 google accounts, with a few word differences, so don't be fooled, and most comments in one say the same thing I experienced. AGAIN, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM. They only do right by people they know. These people will steal from you if they think you don't know anything about mechanical problems. They quoted me for "no more than $1500," according to Sean, for the service. They stole my $500 cash deposit since I forgot to get a receipt. They modified the paper for the requested service after I signed it to add that I agreed to pay over $6800 and that I agreed to move forward with repair. I could have bought a car with this money instead, but I had to pay it, so that I don't get in trouble with the Army for not paying. They gave me a so-called 40% military discount, which led me to pay a bit less than 5k. Seriously, They charged me over $6000 to service my motorcycle, and they did not replace not one part. The part prices were over 500 % higher when I looked them up and by comparison with the price the new mechanics charged me, $1199.86 including labor PLUS THEY FIXED THE ENGINE LEAK THAT Brooklyn Mayd caused, included. They may have stolen my speedometer cable, since I don't have proof and they had left it in the street for me to pick up because they would not hold it one more day, however they were the one not ready when they asked me to pick up and I had time, so I am not certain what happened to it. read more

Bit of a bummer cause I wanted to like these guys. Had them install a wiring kit & rectifier for my Honda XR400R to have my battery run off the stator/engine. It's an old dirt bike--necessary project for reliable street legal registration. There was an existing wiring harness and rechargeable battery that had decomposed & didn't run from the prior owner. An old Baja kit maybe. I didn't want to have to recharge a battery constantly for electrical. 8 months of run-around. 'Yes almost done we'll give you a call' 'just waiting on one more part.' I first dropped the bike off in March, got it back in October. In-between then they asked me to give a deposit & take my bike back while they waited for a part and made space for other bikes to make more $$$. Took forever for them to let me get back in to finish the work. A week after I pick up my bike it no longer runs. I run the normal diagnostics, get to spark, no spark. Take the bike apart. Turns out they stuck a $35 Amazon battery and re-used the old already existing, entirely ripped wiring. Nearly no new wiring. Everything frayed at the ends, electrical tape split open all over. More bolts missing on the frame than when I'd dropped it. Likely drained the stator over a period of a week. Don't even trust them to try and fix it. Mechanics that i've had help since then have been wary of working on anything that Mayd has touched--almost like there's a policy for any bikes that come out of this shop. $4790. Aside from labor hours, a $35 battery, the cheapest possible lights, and a regulator/rectifier, I didn't see anything worthwhile. They got me. read more

When a business has only 5 star reviews and 1 star reviews, read the 1 star reviews. This place has no local competition and seems slammed with work. But instead of using the flow of customers to build a reputation or to expand, Sean just capitalizes on the volume. He screws as many people as he likes because there's more behind them. My experience: Reviews that say BM overcharges ridiculously? Check! $175 to mount a tire I provided. The Harley guy charges $60-90. Reviews that say Sean does work without permission? Check! Even after he promised to call beforehand. Reviews that say he fakes the funk and bills for stuff he did not do? Check! He said he put the bike on the dyno but there was nothing wrong with it So he did some adjustments and "stuff." Like what? "Adjusted the clutch." Weird. My clutch was fine. So I look and the derby cover and boot on the cable have obviously not been touched. I gave him an "out-" i suggested he confused my bike with another. Got reimbursed. The point is this shop could go either way- Build a rep like 6th Street Specials or be the dirtbag who takes advantage of volume to scam whomever comes thru the door. DO NOT bring your bike here. I brought it in because it was overheating, and dripping coolant. They used PLUMPING FITTINGS from a hardware store to replace parts, over-sized pinched hoses that choked my engine of coolant, filled it with sludge, and then charged me an arm and a leg like they're doing me a favor. As a business owner, I believe in educating your customers. There was no explanation or discussion. He just ensured me the dripping would "never happen again". And then it does, but worse. This fake-fix caused other problems to my bike, I had to take it to another mechanic - who actually had 4 OTHER BIKES he had to fix because of BrooklynMayd's 'handi-work'. This is my second or three time here, over the last 2 years searching for a small engine bike and im sure the reviews on here might be from friends of the owner or fan base. Ohhhh nooooo. Clicked "book a test ride" on their website and was texted asking what I wanted. I said "I'd like to test ride the INT 650" "We don't do test rides." I'm told. Oh, weird, because you have a button for it. So I reply ok, how do I try the bike before deciding if I want to buy it? And they never replied. I had to follow up. Twice. I decide to go in and just look at it and I called Geico to get a quote and Geico tells me he can call them, get the VIN and insure it and then I should be able to test ride it. Right after I hang up, the salesman from this Brooklyn Mayd calls me and is all "heyyyyy, so you want to come in? I just spoke to your insurance" So, I do. I get there, ask for Sean (the guy I spoke with on the phone) and say I had spoken to him about coming in blah blah blah. Next thing out of his mouth: "we don't do test rides. I didn't tell you you could come and test ride." Why the EFF would we need the VIN of a bike then??? So I repeat the above order of events and he interrupts and says "First of all, HELLO!" as if "smartass bike shop guy" was the appropriate play in this moment. So not only does this shop think it makes sense to buy a vehicle without trying it but they're going to be dicks about it too. Manufacturers need to be careful about where they place their product. With people like this repping your brand, Royal Enfield will stay off of Brooklyn streets. PS I'm a woman. TL;DR : PLEASE DO NOT GO TO BROOKLYN MAYD. LISTEN TO ALL OF THE OTHER NEGATIVE REVIEWS. I've waited a few months to write this because I really did not want to leave a negative review but felt it responsible to warn any and all future customers against Brooklyn Mayd. I had been working on a recently acquired bike for a few months. A street legal dirt-bike. The most basic beginner bike, and my first in New York since moving here. This motorcycle is literally the model they use to teach people how to ride at the Motorcycle Safety School. I have been working on my own motorcycles since I was a kid, helping my dad rebuild carbs on his Harleys and fixing engines on cars and motorcycles. My bike was bogging out and dying within two blocks or so, and after rebuilding the carb, changing the oil & filter, and ordering a new air filter, I realized that it was the petcock. The bike wasn't getting the proper amount of fuel that it needed, possibly a bad line or simply needed a new petcock. But by this point the battery was dead and needed to be push started and I had been working on it for so many weeks, waiting for parts online, etc. I was exhausted from the work and decided to take it to the nearest shop. During Covid, I had ignored the negative reviews from people being horribly ripped off in a myriad of ways. Overcharging for labor, being charged for parts that weren't even replaced, not being notified for work that was to be done and then being fronted with a bill for parts and labor that were COMPLETELY unnecessary with ZERO communication. I just wanted to ride my motorcycle and was at the very least happy to support a P.O.C. owned shop in my neighborhood. LO AND BEHOLD every single thing mentioned happened to me. BUT WAIT, IT GETS BETTER! I get a call that it was ready so I go to pick up my bike, and before hearing the price of the repairs, SEAN, THE OWNER says "Oh man, I really hooked you up this bike will never need work again and I gave you a huge discount." I said, "Wow thanks man, I really appreciate it!" He said, "I know you do." (One of the most remarkably pretentious and ill-willed people i've interacted with in a very long time.) ### Wonder why most of the positive reviews are from people buying scooters? ### SEAN charged me for MANY things, including $700 in labor, which he claims took an entire day and a half which he gave me the "huge discount" on. (What kind of shop works on a single vehicle for a literal day and a half?) And $400 in parts. HE CHARGED ME FOR A CARB REBUILD when I HAD REBUILT IT THE WEEK BEFORE. I check the carb and nothing had been done! HILARIOUS! He charged me a ridiculous price for an air filter when I had one on the way in the mail. He charged me for a full electrical rewiring when all I needed was for the battery to be charged which I could have had done for free at autozone. He charged me for a fuel relay which did not fix a thing. Do you know how I figured it out? I give him my credit card with my heart at the bottom of my stomach. He gives me a FREE RUBBER BM KEYCHAIN. I start the bike and Sean says "Hear that, sounds perfect ((wink))" I drive down the block feeling screwed and THE BIKE STALLS OUT THREE BLOCKS AWAY. IM NOT KIDDING THE BIKE DIED THREE BLOCKS AWAY EXACTLY HOW IT DID BEFORE I DROPPED IT OFF. THANKS FOR FIXING MY BIKE! OH WAIT YOU DIDNT CHECK IF IT ACTUALLY MOVED?! NO WORRIES LOL $1200 is nothing really I'll eat next week!!!!! I did not call them back to complain. I did not want to ever speak to Brooklyn Mayd or that pompous malevolent owner ever again. My motorcycle was then stolen off of the street two weeks later after I had fixed the problem myself after reading old forums on my model of bike. An incredibly simple issue that the moto geniuses at Brooklyn Mayd couldn't solve. By the way, the cost of the 'repairs' was more than 50% of the value of the bike itself. I would have told them to keep it. But because my bike was long gone, I decided not to even bother writing a review. But I'm here now because I have met people who have had similar terrible experiences with Brooklyn Mayd that people need to be aware of. Please, please go anywhere else. read more
