This review is a little delayed and is regarding an experience I had last year. I was hoping to make a "big" change and had been wanting to donate and shop off my hair for a sometime. With my birthday coming up and the hot Arizona summer's, it seemed like a perfect opportunity! At this point, I had not had a regular hairstylist/salon and was on the hunt f or a local spot. Schwahn was super close to me, Women-Owned and had great reviews, so I decided to book an appointment. I was also excited about their promo offer on Yelp app check in. $10 for $20. Upon arrival, they had me fill out a questionnaire, with details on my hair type, my hair routine, what I was looking for, products, upkeep etc. I LOVED this, I thought this detail and extra step was so needed and valuable for an experience. Especially when making such a drastic change. Though I know what I wanted, I do lean into the expertise of the hairstylist to guide me on what makes the most sense for my texture and lifestyle. They have an light booth for before and after pictures, which I also found to be a nice touch. The chair manner was great and I was comfortable, enjoyed the conversation and experience. They even sent me home with a few samples of their products to test out and determine what I liked along, which I thought was lovely. I ended up getting about 21 inches cut off and overall, enjoyed the experience. i did request a much different style for the finished look, a bit more tousled and natural to how my hair would be on a day to day, but did receive a more sleek and streamlined look. IT was still lovely, but definitely not what I was initially wanting. At the end, when I went to check out, they would not honor the Yelp promo, and said they would just do it next time....Which sort of defeats the purpose. I did not purchase ahead of time, as I was unsure if they honored multiples or if there was a limit, but in the end it didn't make a difference. The initial price point on their website was $50 and the total for my haircut and blow out ended up being around $80- $100 before tip. I was a little surprised and felt that should have been communicated, but I digress. The overall experience was lovely, and the extra steps/details they take are nice, There were a few things that could have made the experience better, but I still was happy with the final product. read more

Kelly Marie is a hair wizard and totally saved my hair!! I had a bad color job done by someone else and my hair was quite orange! Kelly Marie did a full color correction on my hair and not only fixed it, but it turned out to be my favorite hair color and cut I've ever gotten. It was quite the project and I was super impressed with how knowledgeable she is and how she somehow also managed to make my hair look and feel healthier in the process. Kelly Marie has a very approachable, calming and kind personality that makes you feel totally at ease. I had never went to her before and yet, I trusted her completely. I wish I didn't live all the way in Oregon as I'd love to go to her all the time. I've been in the area for a few months and decided I needed to find a stylist. It's more difficult than I anticipated to go back to Tucson every couple of months. I did some Yelp research and came across this salon. When requesting a consultation on the website, I was texted back very quickly. With ease, an appointment was made for the next day. They texted a confirmation with time, date, address and directions. I love that they're open Sundays. I'm not in a mad dash to get there after work or on Saturdays. I was greeted by two friendly staff members and offered water. They ask that you fill out a short form. Then, Kelly Marie and I went to a station to discuss what I was looking for and get color matched. She mentioned traveling for work. It sounds like she attends a lot of classes and stays up to date so she can train and better assist her clients. The pricing is interesting; it's done by the hour. Some stylists are at $50 and Kelly is at $75. For two hours, with a color touch up, cut, blow dry and style, I don't think $100 is a bad price. I'll be back in a little less than two weeks and hope to add some fabulous pictures. They also have a wide variety of styling products and accessories. This is a smaller salon and isn't fancy. But, it's clean and the staff is friendly. As long as my hair looks good, I'm fine with not paying extra just for the atmosphere. read more
