By far the best wings I have ever had in my life and the onion rings are amazing as well. Staff has always been super nice. Will really miss this place when I move. Hometown feel! read more

THE place for locals in town...sort of in the middle of a residential area...not easy to find, but worth the hunt!! My husband LOVES the tenderloin...if you go with someone, share it- too much food for one! Great beer garden when the weather is nice. read more

Seemingly simply a neighborhood tavern with beer garden, BUT they also have the best onion rings I've ever had, as well as the best hot wings in Bloomington/Normal if not Illinois. It's like tavern food but the best one could imagine. Ice cold beers, too, obviously. read more

Dining area is a little dated and a bit on the small side. If your looking for your daily dose of grease, your in luck. I had the corn fritters, onion rings, and the deep fried pork chop sandwich. The onion rings were great! Hand dipped freshly battered, fried perfectly. The corn fritters were better than than I expected. Fried pork chop was pretty good. A little heavy on the batter but good. Overall a good lunch, service was good. If your in the mood for grease, they can fix you up. Cash only! read more

Never been here before despite living in the town for 6 years. The food: First off, I don't like buffalo wings, ever, but the buffalo wings here were delicious!! I would get them again. But would probably never venture to try them anywhere else. Like I said, I don't like buffalo wings. Also, the corn fritters are to die for. Amazing amounts of powdered sugar on a HUGE corn fritter? Yes please! Then I had the cheddar, bbq, bacon burger... mmm! It had generous amounts of bacon. Overall, it was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere: Small town restaurant feel. Cash only, but there's an ATM inside. Service was prompt and friendly. Very crowded but not overwhelming. Reasonable prices. I think the bill was $50 or so for the 3 us including alcohol, appetizers, and entrees. read more

Great bar food and cheap beer. Cheddar bacon BBQ burger better than many other joints in town. Big beer $3 or $4. Can't beat it!

Nothing fancy...but great food. Was visiting the area and stopped for the tenderloin and rings...Very good! Cash only though! read more

Good food! The place to go where locals go. The onion rings are a must have! Hand battered, light and fried to perfection! The Gebby burger, tenderloin or the fish special (I believe on Tuesdays) are also great choices. Service is pretty good! read more

Onion rings are amazing! Visited here from out of town and it's a total local dive. Awesome atmosphere and the bartender rocks.

Home style food that's worth checking out! Try the tenderloin, but only if you're hungry!

About 2 minutes after sitting down, water started to pour out of the ceiling on my back. We were told there was nothing they could do about it (it was from the AC condensation) so we found a different table. No issues with the food however I left disappointed with customer service considering my shirt was partially soaked and I paid full price for everything. read more

Love this place, although the kitchen hygiene has a reputation for being pretty grotesque (out of sight, out of mind, though). Beer-battered onion rings are the best in town, pork tenderloin spans 3 hamburger buns (each extra bun is $0.25), their burgers are known to be good, but excessively greasy. House dressing is a combo of ranch and bleu cheese - perfect. All meals are around $5. Beer garden outside. This is a local place, incredibly popular with the 40-50 crowd. Every Friday and Saturday night you can count on seeing the same people there (school teachers are a bulk of these regulars). Pin ball machine and a few booths in the small and always back-to-back crowded bar area. read more

Two words....tenderloin and rings. They are both awesome and you can take them home and eat them for days!

Had dinner at Schooner's Sunday night. Hard to beat their wild wings, onion rings and a schooner of beer. Not fancy, just tasty and homey. Service is always good. read more

I have never had a bad meal here! The staff is very friendly and the owner is usually around to say hello as well. This bar has a Cheers feel to it. The beer garden is a great spot to enjoy a good meal and a few drinks in the warmer months. They occasionally have live music outside. Inside you can either sit in the bar area or dining area. The dining area is family friendly. I would recommend giving this place a try. read more

this used to be my favorite lunch time beer garden. The last two visits my chicken sandwich took LITERALLY two hours. The service has become so bad when you sit outside that my coworker and I vowed to never go back. Inside is still good. Typical bar food. A little over priced but generally worth it. Waitresses are usually nice and attentive. Bottom line. Unless you can take a two hour lunch and you are not looking for quick refills - no longer a lunch spot. read more

We were faithful followers of this local restaurant. However, THREE times in a row the service was so bad we won't be going back for a while, perhaps never. 20+ minutes to be waited on, long delay until food arrived, and then it was cold. This wasn't a problem in the past, but three times in a row is inexcusable. read more

Very local place with loyal customer base. Discovered via yelp when in from out of town. Everyone knew everyone and we totally felt like we were from the neighborhood by the time we left. Burgers were huge and the wings were EXCELLENT!!! read more

We drove two hours to eat at Schooners and I would definitely do it again. My son needed driving hours and that is just one more excuse for a road trip to find a good place to eat. We arrived about two and got a table right away. The place was clean and the service was very good. My son ordered a Horseshoe Sandwich and substituted steak fries; I wasn't going to leave without trying the King Tenderloin. I ordered it with two buns, but found it difficult to pay extra for a tomato, so I did without. We also ordered a whole order of onion rings. The Horseshoe Sandwich was cooked to perfection. The sauce was excellent. The onion rings were greasy and a little too plain. I normally can handle greasy food, but this was a little more than I care for. The King Tenderloin was huge. I had no trouble setting aside half to take home to my husband and still couldn't finish my half. It tasted good, but I guess I need a little seasoning or dressing to give it that "can't put it down" pizazz. It isn't easy getting my 16 year old to say he's full, but he did on this trip. The prices were great for the quantity of food we received and the quality of service we experienced. We will definitely be back. read more

Had a great meal, got the full order of onion rings for two of us (still couldn't finish them) and they were awesome! I had the wings which were good and wife got the tenderloin which looked like a meal for four!! Cold beer too, will be coming back here soon! read more

Walking in the first time I definitely felt like an outsider but I don't come here for the atmosphere (it is a nice bar) I come for the WINGS. I moved down here for school and was wanting wings as good as the ones back home. After trying multiple places I stopped as soon as I came across Schooners. I'm glad I was able to find a place to get great wings. read more

On a road trip and just passing through town. This was an excellent place to grab a casual bite to eat. Service was excellent. Food was what you'd expect for a bar but definitely not bad. I'd go back for sure. read more

Not my most favorite place , the food tastes like its cooked in old oil, but not a bad place to hang out and enjoy some adult beverages .

AMAZING food. The onion rings are easily my favorite item on the menu. I have never left the restaurant unsatisfied. Definitely a go-to place for family gatherings. Overall 5 stars! read more

We were searching for a great local bar and we weren't disappointed! They had great burgers, fries, and beers. It reminded us of a wonderful local bar that we love! Everyone there was so welcoming and friendly. We're so glad we found it! read more

I grew up in Illinois but now I live in Atlanta. You can't get a pork tenderloin sandwich in the south. Every single time I return home to Illinois, I go to Schooners and get one of their giant pork tenderloin sandwiches. The are amazing! The whole family goes, and makes it a reunion. read more

While I love the food, Schooners, you need better wait staff! The last time I went, I was left for twenty minutes, and left for other long amounts of time through the meal. Either get more staff, or get the waiters and waitresses you have to do a better job. As much as I like the food, I'm also afraid to go back because I feel like I'll get abandoned again. That said, I really do love their wings. Best in town! Their chicken platter, burgers, and onion rings are all great. You'll never leave hungry. I'm not a fan of their tenderloin, both in terms of taste and in the way they nickle and dime you for extra buns, veggies, etc. read more

Food is ok but bland for a restaurant experience. Menu is dated or classic depending upon your perspective. Mostly nothing that you couldn't cook just as well... or better at home. No wow factor here but if you enjoy plain home cooking this place will fill the bill. read more

Great wing's and cold beer. Has my favorite beer of Texas on tap! Shiner Boch! Friendly wait staff.

My wife and I enjoy eating at Schooners. Best wings in town. Great service. Also, they do take credit cards.

Beer battered chicken and corn fritters were amazing! Great food, great price! Also, they DO accept credit cards now.

Comfortable and friendly atmosphere with great food. Best wings in Bloomington by far! Low carb options for people watching their waist, like me. :) and their blue cheese ranch mix is fantastic! read more

Best wings and tenderloin in town!! Love the live music!! Service is great!! Been coming here for years!! Highly recommend!!!

Like an inside joke when you aren't in on it. It's typical bar food and a subpar beer list, and is cash only (can we say tax evasion). It's crowded and loud which is probably the appeal if you are a regular but not exactly appealing if you aren't part of the crowd. read more

I decided against leaving a review on this place but after so many episodes of Kitchen Nightmare with the missus; we both decided to leave our opinion based on our first and last dine in at Schooners. From the previous reviews, we thought trying a local place over chained would be a pleasant dining experience since we just moved back here from the coast. If you have experience with bar food and how local restaurants are towards their regulars, then this place won't be a shock. The food is sub-par, only to the fact that the service is a great disappointment. Sat there for a good 45 mins before we even received our entrees. To add insult to injury the folks who came in after us ordered the same thing (all you can eat fish) and received plate refills twice before we received our one. I wanted to believe that the previous reviews were accurate but after our experience; we're never gonna dine here again. Note: Called to reconfirm that the restaurant is an actual restaurant; was told that it was more-so over being a bar. Came to dine in and received bar service and bar food. Anyone new to town or is passing through, don't bother with this place and the previous (positive) reviews. I would never dine here again. read more

Your basic Midwest neighborhood bar with your basic Midwest bar menu. Friendly and competent service and very good food; the onion rings alone are worth the trip. You won't leave hungry. read more

Food was home-cooked fantastic! Had the chicken and mashed potato dinner. Really tasty. Love supporting a locally owned business. Only complaint is that it was a really long wait for our food. Would definitely go back. read more

This has been one of the Restaurants my family has gone to for over 20 years. My dad used to live by this growing up and went all the time. Their beer bartered cheese sticks are some of the best! Their chicken planks are delicious! read more

The onion rings are great. And by great I mean phenomenal and well within my college student budget. I also had the burger horseshoe which was just what I was looking for. We ha some minor server issues and the soda was flat. All in all a great place for lunch with many good choices for food!! read more

Really good! Tenderloin is delicious! Bring friends LOL! Burgers are great as well. Clean and everyone is friendly.
