I just had a 2nd antique clock serviced by Chappell Jordan. This one was a 175-year-old marble and…read morepatinated bronze French Figural Clock. The clock's movement hadn't been serviced in over 116 years according to the 2 November 1910 inscription on the pendulum bracket by its previous servicer. Also, the clock's marble base was missing most of the Roman numerals that were formerly attached to it to serve as the dial. Bernie Maya of Chappell Jordan completely cleaned and serviced the movement and bell such that the clock mechanism now looks brand new and the clock runs like new. Bernie also polished the marble and installed new Roman numerals for the dial on the clocks marble block. What a magnificent job ! Chappell Jordan hit it out of the ballpark again !

He spent time talking with us about his family and even asked about ours, which made the experience feel very personal and genuine. He mentioned that he no longer sells clocks because he stays too busy and doesn't have time to deliver, but the shop still has some really neat clocks and artifacts throughout the store along with paintings and photos of him and his family everywhere. It gives the place a warm, unique feel that you do not find often anymore. I came in to have links removed from my new watch and to get batteries replaced in two other watches. Even though it was pouring rain that Saturday, Van kindly offered for us to stay and wait out the storm. That level of hospitality really stood out to me for an all-around great experience. He definitely has my business for life.

I found Ken on the internet. He repaired / rehabbed a hundred year old Waterbury Kitchen Clock…read morethat I recently inherited. It would not keep time, and the chime was off / not lined up with the correct hour. This clock had been in my parents' house, and the sound of that clock ticking (it has a pendulum and makes the classic "tick-tock" sound) had been sort of the heartbeat of the home. Being able to hear that, and to see it work correctly, and to hear the chime on the hour, does me good. He fixed it, gave me a tutorial on how and when to wind it, and how to adjust it if need be. The price was fair - not cheap - and I had no issue with it. Ken is friendly and easy to deal with. His business is appropriately named - he really is an expert. I recommend him without reservation.

Then a couple of months later, he says his roommate's friend stole the watch! But he will replace it with a cheaper inferior model. I told him that was unacceptable so he suggested I find my own replacement. I do, but it is not as pristine as my watch, costs me almost $400, and it also needs batteries. I take it to him (assuming he would still have the original replacement batteries-wrong! He doesn't have those batteries either! Any way you cut it, I've been scammed by this guy!! Do yourself a favor and stay away from Black Forest Watch and Clock, Jewelry, or whatever else he's calling his business now!!

I had to drive up there from Willis, Texas and pick up my watches and force him to give them to me . This is not an individual you can trust. I believe he doesn't even have legal status in the US, another immigrant milking the system , took it to another Watch Maker because even after I picked it it same as when I brought it in . It was losing five minutes a day the Watch Maker told me it doesn't even look like anybody worked on it.! What happened to his business integrity, skills and his honesty I don't know maybe and this is making a kind excuse . Hes just getting old and can't keep up.
