The clock's movement hadn't been serviced in over 116 years according to the 2 November 1910 inscription on the pendulum bracket by its previous servicer. Also, the clock's marble base was missing most of the Roman numerals that were formerly attached to it to serve as the dial. Bernie Maya of Chappell Jordan completely cleaned and serviced the movement and bell such that the clock mechanism now looks brand new and the clock runs like new. Bernie also polished the marble and installed new Roman numerals for the dial on the clocks marble block. What a magnificent job ! Chappell Jordan hit it out of the ballpark again !

This clock had been in my parents' house, and the sound of that clock ticking (it has a pendulum and makes the classic "tick-tock" sound) had been sort of the heartbeat of the home. Then a couple of months later, he says his roommate's friend stole the watch! But he will replace it with a cheaper inferior model. I told him that was unacceptable so he suggested I find my own replacement. I do, but it is not as pristine as my watch, costs me almost $400, and it also needs batteries. I take it to him (assuming he would still have the original replacement batteries-wrong! He doesn't have those batteries either! Now he wants more money to get more batteries and that "when he gets a check, he will repay me for the replacement watch". Long story, short: it's been over 1 and 1/2 years, I'm out over $500, I don't have my original watch, no batteries, no repayment, and he won't return my calls or texts! Any way you cut it, I've been scammed by this guy!! Do yourself a favor and stay away from Black Forest Watch and Clock, Jewelry, or whatever else he's calling his business now!!

I called him and asked him if he would be able to add my charms while I waited and he did just that. The business is located inside the Joe V's on FM 1960 near Aldine Westfield. When I showed him the charms, he asked me where I wanted them to go on my bracelet and just like that he was finished in less than 10 minutes. Between my grandfather and I, we had six watches needing repair. Did my research and wanted to support small business. Found this shop. Called to ensure he would be open if the current pandemic situation. Answers the phone with simply "hello". Is this the Watchmaker Specialist?", I ask. "Yes." I then asked if he would be open the next day to drop by with the watches for repair. "No problem. I will be here" he responds. "Excellent. See you tomorrow." Today (the next day), I picked up my 89-year old grandfather to drive 25 miles to his shop. Arrive to the office building, then had to had to show my driver's license to a security guard. It has to be shown to a video camera where they take a picture of your license. Was not crazy about that given identity fraud. But had to do it to gain access to the building. Made our way up to the 7th floor, found the suite, only to find the office locked. Sign on door says call the number. So I do this and again, simply "hello". I let him know we were standing at the front door. "Who's this?", he asks. "A customer" i replied. "Oh, I am not there. I went to get some dinner. Can you wait 30 or 45 minutes?"........ So he wanted my grandfather and I to simply hang out and wait for him. Not very good customer service especially after I called beforehand to verify it was good to come down at that time. Which it was. But he left us in the lurch. We went someplace else. Was not a goid customer service experience.
