I had such a stellar experience at World Time Services. Van, the owner, is incredibly sweet and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. He spent time talking with us about his family and even asked about ours, which made the experience feel very personal and genuine. He mentioned that he no longer sells clocks because he stays too busy and doesn't have time to deliver, but the shop still has some really neat clocks and artifacts throughout the store along with paintings and photos of him and his family everywhere. It gives the place a warm, unique feel that you do not find often anymore. I came in to have links removed from my new watch and to get batteries replaced in two other watches. Even though it was pouring rain that Saturday, Van kindly offered for us to stay and wait out the storm. That level of hospitality really stood out to me for an all-around great experience. Lovely little locally-owned watch store located in Chinatown which I use whenever I come to this part of town, which is basically every day, when I need some sort of adjustment with some sort of timepiece. Like, not so much anymore, but Barbie still has a lot of this old stuff so it has come in handy before. The establishment is located in a line of shops whose store fronts all face onto Bellaire. This particular shop is located on the first floor (the complex have shops on the second floor as well). Lot parking is available, and I did not have any issues finding a spot on a Monday around 11:30 am. The inside of the shop is what you'd expect from a clockwork store. Plenty of clocks around. There are 2-4 chairs at the front of the store by the counter that you can wait at while having the time piece serviced. To enter the store, you may need to ring a door bell as the door may be locked, and they'll need to buzz you in. The owner was extremely helpful for what I needed to get done (battery changes). The minimum change fee was $12 dollars/watch, depending on the type of watch. Granted, I came in on a Monday, so there were no other customers, and I was able to have my watches serviced immediately. If there are other customers, I can see it taking awhile as it appears there may only be one individual working directing with clients #mom&pop. It may be good to call before you go out there. On January 31, 2019 I brought in a 100+-year-old Waltham pocket watch, which had started losing minutes a day and would stop with plenty of tension left in the mainspring. He cleaned the balance wheel assembly, demagnetized the watch, and regulated it in 20 minutes for about $40. The watch has been ticking along happily since. I love this place. It is owned by an older man and his wife. They have been in business for years!!! This is a small business owner who has made a living for his family, living at his place of business for YEARS!!! All these reviews about $10 for repairs is absolutely ridiculous. How do you think they make a living and pay their overhead? What this man charges is very reasonable for his time and expertise. I have been coming to him for the last 20 years for all of my watches. He knows time pieces and is so sweet and extremely knowledgeable. If there is something that can't be done, I am sure he will find a way to make it happen. read more

They broke the chime and lost the manual to the clock . Very dis honest people and POOR service !!!! They do not take care of customer's belongings . The first time I went, the man spent 15 minutes on my watch as I waited (simple fix) and didn't charge me a penny, though I tried to pay him for his trouble. He is knowledgeable and skilled. I brought my luxury watch here based on reviews but my experience was different. I'm not the one to write reviews and I only write when I am really treated poorly. The language barrier is pretty intense here. DO NOT COME HERE UNLESS YOU SPEAK VIET. I came in and asked for service for my watch, I specifically asked for a CLEAN OIL ADJUSTMENT (COA). He looked at my watch and asked me if I had dropped it or use it for sports, I said not that I know off and no I do not use it for sports. I said I wanted "CLEAN OIL ADJUST" He insisted that he will do ALL of that along with the issue of "fixing". a week later, I came in to pick up the watch and he said he fixed it and I asked what did you fix? There was nothing wrong with the watch in the first place!!! I just wanted it Cleaned Oiled Adjusted (COA). He held my watch hostage until I pay up 130 dollars for fixing whatever the fuck was wrong with it. He was yelling and irritated the whole time and was telling me about how he has 20 years of experience in the watchmaking/watch smith industry. IDGAF if u have 20 years and do what I asked you to do! not what you think what my watch needs!!! WHAT A SCAM ARTIST!!! This little old bag tried to bully me by yelling at me. Very rude attitude. Charged $10 to shorten a watch band. Didn't discuss how much I wanted it to be shorten. After he handed the watch back to me and I put it on, I said it feel too tight. He didn't say anything. I thought he is an expert (although with a bag attitude), may be the watch supposes to watch tight that way. So I left. But the band was too tight and not comfortable to wear as I learnt later. Next time when I went to China Town, which was 60 days later, I admit it's not a short time. But I don't go to China Town often and have a high expectations in USA for kind customer services and after-care services. So I remembered to bring the watch, removed band pieces and the receipt back. However, th at same grummpy guy wanted to charge $5 additionally to add a piece of the band back, saying even $5 was not fair for him. Forget about complimentary after-care service.
