While I was there we discussed my concerns about wearing an older watch everyday and he helped me find a much younger Sea Dweller, which is perfect for my daily routine. He was able to make me a great deal on re-stocking my original buy and sold me my new watch without any problems! He is great to work with and is extremely knowledgeable! I went to Hal Martin's specifically for their Rolex reputation and explained that I wanted a thorough inspection and appraisal of an unusual vintage Rolex, with documentation to remain with the watch as part of its provenance. Tarang acknowledged that it was a vintage watch and never indicated that it was outside their expertise. Because they didn't have the proper tool to open the caseback, he sent me to Swiss Chronometers, referring to them as "my mechanical workshop." I followed his instructions, paid $216.50 for the inspection, and returned to Hal Martin's expecting the appraisal and documentation we had discussed. The process then became frustratingly disorganized. Photos and information I sent to Hal were not passed to Jonathan, so I repeatedly had to explain the situation. I also learned that the inspection report I expected would not be provided. Jonathan ultimately questioned the watch's authenticity because of its unusual 6636/6627 reference combination and suggested I take it to Rolex. I respect an appraiser's right to reach a different professional opinion. My issue is that I specifically sought their expertise before spending money. Had Tarang told me upfront that this vintage Rolex was beyond their experience, I would have gone directly to a specialist. I contacted Hal to resolve the matter privately. After one brief response, I explained the situation and followed up, but received no further reply. For a business dealing in high-value watches, the repeated breakdowns in internal communication, unmet commitments, and lack of follow-through from the owner showed a level of professionalism far below what I expected. This experience left me with no confidence in Hal Martin's, and I would not trust them with any of my watches in the future.

I had to take a nail file to it in order to buff it off as it was too uncomfortable to wear. I decided to take it on my lunch break and within 15 minutes it was completed. He actual charged me less because the gaskets were still holding up well. So it actually came back at a lower price than I was given over the phone. I was appreciative of the honesty when he could have easily ripped me off. I would go back in a heartbeat to have more service done if needed OR buy a new watch. Side note - It's garage parking and the clearance of the garage is only 6' 5" so bigger trucks will need to street park.

After returning the watches something like 4 trips for each one they are still not keeping accurate time. I had to just wait and come by when I thought they may have been done with the watches because they would not call me when they were ready. I went there thinking an old watch repair place could fix an old watch. Apparently, they cannot. After spending a few hundred dollars there I am looking for another repair shop for both watches. Very disappointing.

Right before I left he said "do you have the glass dome?" To which I responded yes, and he replied with, "well put it on and leave it on the table because that's all it's good for." I left very soon after and was extremely discouraged. I went to a store and bought some electrical contact cleaner. I worked on the clock and I fixed it. The clock is now running beautifully and smoothly. I wish the employee had at least looked at any of it before saying those words but it does not matter now.

She said that she was mortified by the way the situation was handled when I brought my ring in and was hoping that she could make things right. At this point it had already been 2 weeks since I had brought the ring in so I had long since taken it to another jeweler to have the ring repaired. She was very apologetic and invited me to come back in the store whenever and to contact her personally. I appreciated that she reached out and acknowledged my experience. It doesn't negate the interaction I had with my sales associate and the jeweler but I do respect that she followed up and while I cannot say that I will be a returning customer at this point, I would take it into consideration. Full honestly, I think I would consider making a purchase there again but would likely not turn to them for any alterations or repairs in the future.
