Deceptive Promises & Poor Support After 18 Years I have been a loyal Sheer Security customer for 18 years, but my recent upgrade has been a complete nightmare. I agreed to upgrade ONLY because I was repeatedly assured that I would be able to install the software and stream live footage from my cameras on my MAC Desktop. Patty came out to my home and specifically told me everything would work with my system. Then the installer arrived and said my computer software was "too old" -- even though the desktop was only 2 years old. When we could make sense of buying a new MAC desktop - we purchased ANOTHER brand-new computer, and the Apple store confirmed it was compatible with the software being used by our security system. Yet the system still won't work because now we are being told that the problem is no longer MY software, but the security company's software has been updated. When I asked for a technician to come out and fix the problem, I was only offered a remote attempt at correcting the issue -- which did nothing. At no point did Sheer Security disclose any limitations or risks with the upgrade. It has become clear that the system I purchased was never suited to meet my requirements. After nearly two decades of monthly payments, I've paid for features and services that were never delivered. Instead of standing behind their promises, they continue making excuses. I feel completely misled and taken advantage of. If you're considering Sheer Security, think twice. They do not support their customers or the products they sell. read more

Where do I start......I bought a newly built home and Scheer's company does the security system for those homes. Long story short they had two metal shims in my ceilings where my speakers were suppose to go and Best Buy just wanted to confirm that they could cut through the metal shims without damaging anything. I don't even know why they put them there because of metal shims was blocking their ability to put the speakers up. So anyway Best Buy told me to see if I could take the metal shims out, so I called Scheer and asked speak to the manager, I cannot remember her name......but let me just say she is a complete loose cannon, she was hollering, over talking me saying, "we've been doing this for 15 years" instead of being patient with me, trying to help me to have an understanding, she kept over talking me to the point, I had to yell and tell her to be quiet let me talk. Scheer wanted to charge me $47 a month without cameras just for the security system ATT charges me less than that with two cameras in motion detectors and window motion detectors. The manger had stated to me she would send me a picture of the medal shims so that I could see his email, and guess what, she never did. Women like her, are the worst to encounter, they are very condescending, she was impatient, and she did not know how to professionally speak. She was belligerent, and loud. I hate to say it, but something when I call businesses and they identify my race by my voice, they automatically become aggressive and rude, talk to me how you would talk to someone of your own nationality. As a Human Resources Director I literally do not understand why some human even have jobs. Talk to EVERYONE with respect. She got so loud, I ended up screaming, and telling her "to be quiet and let me talk"......exactly..,.that's how loud she was and she kept talking and over talking me so I could not get out what I was trying to say. That whole experience was ridiculous, and then she told me that one of the builder guys "Madison" who actually happens to have some of the best customer service, she told me he was new to davidon homes, and doesn't really know much.....just unprofessional. Scheer Security installed a 10 camera system around our residence. The system works awesome! We have been to several states as well as out of the country and were able to view the cameras video. A great peace of mind seeing all is ok when away! The Scheer installers were very professional and did a great job putting the cameras up and all the wiring out of site. Worst firm I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. Only expertise is in billing. Instantly jump to threatening you with legal issues as soon as you raise a concern. Had them install an Internet extender for me complete with warranty. I had issues very early and then they told me they don't provide that service any more. Inherited their alarm service on purchasing my house. Had to fire them but still have them threatening me. Be very very careful before you hire these folks. read more

Scheer Security installed and maintains the surveillance cameras at our neighborhood clubhouse and license plate cameras at the entrance and exit. Scheer has also installed surveillance systems in six homes in our neighborhood. In the past year, our neighborhood watch has accumulated seventeen arrests, and the surveillance systems were a significant factor in these arrests. There are several compelling reason why I selected Scheer. 1) I select the cameras and placement and Scheer implements my system design. The owner Doug is extremely easy to work with in this regard and is open to my suggestions. 2) Scheer provides a complete breakdown of all the parts and labor so I can make adjustments if necessary to meet budgets. 3) Scheer is an authorized Avigilon dealer which IMO has one of the best software solutions for surveillance systems. 4) My favorite goto camera right now is the Hikvision Turret and Scheer has considerable experience installing these with either the Hikvision NVR or Avigilon Server. read more

Called doug out with scheer as this was the 3rd company i have called and the other two wanted to replace everything. the house was built 20 years ago and hard wired have had several issues after doors installed with the wires so had a couple wireless contacts installed. the other two companys told me the wireless was the only way to go. they wanted to replace everything and i mean everything. Doug showed up before i got home and looked at the house from top to bottom. asked me what was going on. looked at main board, smoke detector i mean he checked everything. wrote down alot of notes and then asked for email. the next day got the estimate along with explaining everything that was needed and the cost. called doug and he explained everything over the phone. after that i told him to schedule it. he stated the office would schedule as i said i could only do a thursday or friday. the next day patty called me and asked what worked best for me. informed me of how long it would take. she scheduled me on the day i wanted. As a busniess owner getting treated this way feels so good. i figured by going with scheer im saving alot by only getting done what is needed along with a few upgrades that i decide not the company. im so happy my last company i called has come to help me. It has been helpful for the police to capture one perpetrator because the camera is so clear, even at night! CAN I GIVE A ZERO STAR????? these guys are the worst! I Bought a new home in Alamo and called for alarm activation, 2 weeks later an old crusty installer the "owners brother" shows up 20 minutes late for our 1 hour appointment which ended up taking close to 2 hours and made me even later for work than i had planned without any regrets or apologies for my wasted time "does this guy have a cell phone? i know he does because as he is explaining the speaker wire system he takes call after call from is anoying phones ring tone ....holding up his finger as if i need to wait or even quiet so he can hear the other caller. he shows up in his "not usual van he drives" without the usual upgraded parts he normally caries for a up sell on a start up, ohh well i guess we'll get the crapy bottom of the line unit, we could have got a better unit that would have been easier to use for programing and daily use, no booklets for programming either just a photo copied page cut off at the top that had been copied so many times that it is nearly unreadable and it was not even for my alarm system panel. i write this as i have no working alarm and will now be using both smith and wesson for my homes protection needs rather than Scheer Home Systems " Security & Home Theater Specialists" who let me down and now i have to call someone else to come out to help. DSC does not even offer an instruction manual online unless your a vendor (what a racket) the "brother" walks straight into our new home in his old dirty work boots not even noticing i removed my shoes on the way inside ( thinking he might take a hint ) waking all over our brand new carpet as if it were his new home not ours. he then installed the cheapest piece of garbage that uses beeping teconology rather than one with a digital read out to program must be a whopping $10 dollars more or so. once completed i ask him to hook up the wire to the phone which would complete our system start up so we could get it hooked up to our alarm provider "NextAlarm.com who by the way requires no contract and charges aprox $15 dollars on a by monthly basis and further discounts for shorter term contracts not the $ 40 or so plus captain dirty shoes wanted to lock me in for 3 full years ( which is by the way illegal in california as ca. law only allows up to 2 year contracts for alarm monitoring). Mr. dirty shoes says i will only do that if you sign up for a full 3 year agreement. i told him that patti the office gal told me that they had a minimum 3 month agreement i could sign up for if i choose to go with them and then it went to a month to month after that ( which is something at the time i would have gladly done just to get it hooked up and behind me). in so many words he insinuated that i was a liar and patti did not say that. i told him to take his crap out of my house and leave. he then agreed to hook up the wire to the garage but later refused to connect it (just toned it out) what a jerk. they are not welcome back in my familys home ever and i will be buying our rather pricey whole home entertainment system from someone other then this seemingly shady sake down company. it's no wonder they have given up half there oakley showroom according to the brother to other thriving business. the brother thinks its due to the economy i think its due to old school guys like him and being shrude. if they keep up there bad buissness ways they may be shutting there doors for good soon. i hope they can turn there bad customer service around and learn to act more professional when in someones home. i'd give them zero stars had it been available. read more

We have had Scheer Security for a couple years now. Unfortunately last night my home was burglarized. The glass sliding door was completely busted out and the alarm never went off. I called Sheer Security to have a technician come out to figure out what went wrong. He was very rude and arrogant. He was not apologetic at all! Then he goes right into telling me that everything was my fault and as a homeowner I should regularly check my system. I do admit some fault for not thinking to check the system. And for having a tall plant (that I now know was blocking the only working sensor). But with all the technology available today, I was under the assumption that the alarm company that we pay would monitor our system and alert us if they were not getting a signal or if something was wrong. I have truly learned a valuable lesson. But To have been robbed of our most prized possessions and all of our children's Christmas gifts was pain enough. Then to have the alarm company whom we trusted, only point the finger and not offer one solution to prevent this from ever happening again. I am truly amazed. read more
