Deceptive Promises & Poor Support After 18 Years…read more I have been a loyal Sheer Security customer for 18 years, but my recent upgrade has been a complete nightmare. I agreed to upgrade ONLY because I was repeatedly assured that I would be able to install the software and stream live footage from my cameras on my MAC Desktop. Patty came out to my home and specifically told me everything would work with my system. Then the installer arrived and said my computer software was "too old" -- even though the desktop was only 2 years old. When we could make sense of buying a new MAC desktop - we purchased ANOTHER brand-new computer, and the Apple store confirmed it was compatible with the software being used by our security system. Yet the system still won't work because now we are being told that the problem is no longer MY software, but the security company's software has been updated. When I asked for a technician to come out and fix the problem, I was only offered a remote attempt at correcting the issue -- which did nothing. At no point did Sheer Security disclose any limitations or risks with the upgrade. It has become clear that the system I purchased was never suited to meet my requirements. After nearly two decades of monthly payments, I've paid for features and services that were never delivered. Instead of standing behind their promises, they continue making excuses. I feel completely misled and taken advantage of. If you're considering Sheer Security, think twice. They do not support their customers or the products they sell.

I hired their team for a 6-camera install around the outside of my house. I went over the details…read morewith Mike, the owner, on the phone and he sent his guys out on the next available appointment. Mike said his guys knew their stuff through their experience with all sorts of installs, but I think he should have also advertised their level of effort. I went over the plan with the guys assigned to the job - Matt and Robert. They helped me tweak it in line with their professional opinion, the reality of the install, and how hide the ethernet runs. To my surprised, they offered to and spent the extra time to create runs inside a smaller attic to mount two of the cameras to leave no visible wiring to the device. Check the pictures for a few of the installs. I've given the cameras a few days to soak test against high load and moderately toasty temperatures outside (Lower conductivity and high data traffic to challenge the install.). So far it has worked pretty darn good on the first go. Beyond the install, Mike and the team respected my decision to acquire and manage my own cameras, poe switches, and VMS. They didn't attempt at all to make any sales pitches but did offer to help me acquire cameras if I needed their assistance to do so. I appreciate all of this because I know doing this kind of work for a residential building doesn't provide the best returns for a business and many have stopped offering wired camera install services - including the low voltage installers for my home! On top of that, they do this at a very reasonable price.

It is with awe struck tears flowing down my face that I am writing this review! I am a born again Christian who prays about everything. I am, also, a widow who depends upon Jesus for my every need. A year ago my alarm system of 20 years stared giving me issues. The alarm company I use said it was time for a new system. I ordered the one that they recommended and they installed it. Recently I began having issues with one of my sensors. I changed the battery as instructed. A week later, that same sensor started setting off my alarm at all hours of the day and night. I called my alarm company and was told that it would cost me a good amount of money to have them run a diagnostic and fix it; but that it would be money well spent or I could discontinue to use their services. I was shocked and heartbroken. I felt abandoned. I tried calling three different times over a course of about ten days. I just wanted to ask them if they thought I might be able to order a new sensor and change it myself or if they thought it was a faulty system that I should return to Amazon. My calls have still not been returned. So Thursday night I took this problem to Jesus in prayer. He led me to google "Christian Family Owned Alarm Companies in Antioch". I didn't even know there was such a thing. However, when I plugged that in, Freedom Alarm Company popped up. The reviews were amazing! On Friday I called Freedom Alarm Company to get a quote from them . I was pleasantly surprised that within moments James called me back. He patiently listened to my story, was so kind and friendly, asked me questions about my system, had me send him pictures, and then said, "I have been in this business for 26 years. and I am not familiar with this system. Let me just come and take a look at it and see what we can do. If its an easy fix, we'll just take care of it for you." We scheduled for him to come the next morning, which is now Saturday. He arrived on time, looked at my panel, looked at the sensor, and within moments, he had figured out the problem and explained it to me. He decided to put another set of new batteries in, and fixed the sensor case using tape on the inside to give it a snugger fit. He, also, spotted the loose sensor on my sliding door and quickly did the same. As I reached for my purse to pay him, He said, "No, I am not taking any money. This took me no time at all. It was an easy fix." I tried to insist. I said, "Let me pay you for your time. This is Saturday. You took the time to come and I am not even a paying customer of yours. You spent your gas to get here." He looked at me kindly but firmly and said, "I am not billing you for this. I do not want your money. I do not need your money." That is when the tears started. I knew in that moment that one more time in my life Jesus had indeed shown Himself strong on my behalf over this challenging situation when He led me to FREEDOM ALARM. I asked if I could at least pray with Him. I prayed a blessing over this man's life. Then I asked him, "What makes you do this? Why are you so kind?" He answered with joy and a smile on HIs face, "I lost my dad several years ago. My mom is alone. I try and treat people the way I want to be treated...the way I want people to treat my mom." As I shut the door after him I couldn't stop crying. I thought, 'Was that an angel in disguise?' However, I then remembered all of the amazing reviews I had read, so I know James is a real human being. He just happens to be an extraordinary man with a huge heart; and God uses Him in extraordinary ways to be a blessing to the world around Him. I recently had the displeasure of experiencing the results of Tech Umma's "professional…read moreinstallation" of a surveillance camera system. There are many words I would use to describe the results of the work that I saw, but professional is NOT one of them. Lazy, Inept, Unprofessional, Deplorable, Untrained are all much more accurate descriptions. The lack of an actual risk or security assessment for the home was the first mistake. There was no discussion regarding the security needs based upon the design and layout of the home and surrounding landscape. The placement of the cameras was the next example of the inept or untrained technician. The locations were NOT conducive to ever being able to make a positive identification of someone approaching your home. While all four sides of the home had a camera, there were many blind spots and the cameras were placed too far away from the entry points to be useful. The quality of the installation was deplorable and showed that the technician had zero training in regards to how homes are constructed and proper building codes. The technician drilled a hole through the carpet and subfloor to run the wires down into the garage. The wires were left exposed across the garage ceiling and were not properly secured. Once the wires were routed through the exterior wall, they were contained inside PVC conduit (plastic pipe used to protect electrical and low voltage wires). The conduit was not properly secured to the wall. The screws used to secure the conduit brackets were not long enough to penetrate the stucco and grab the wood backing. This caused the conduit to sag. The technician used a wooden twig to plug up several holes created while attempting to secure the conduit. When the technician had to negotiate a corner where a downspout was in the way, the technician just ran the wires out of the conduit, behind the downspout and then back into conduit. Once the conduit was out of sight behind a patio roof, the technician stopped using the conduit and just left the wires exposed. To seal up most of the holes, the technician used copious amounts of silicone caulking and plastic bags. This included holes in the conduit, and holes in both the interior and exterior walls of the home. Based upon the work I observed and had to fix, I would never recommend this company to anyone!

Ami helped to coordinate installs was a total Angel because our schedule is Hectic and our project of sorting out multiple old systems, broken sensors and contacts, and a mess left by the old company (nothing was labeled or organized) required multiple visits and at odd times- I really appreciate that the installers were committed to doing everything right even though it took more equipment and time than we originally anticipated. Also love the head engineers that are familiar with lots of systems to help with random WiFi/network errors. The systems themselves are sleek and easy to use with the app. The sensors can be delayed or disabled for certain purposes. I also accidentally set off the alarm silently, they called me and the cops, and were able to call off the cops easily once confirming it was me. Lots of nice safety features to this alarm which Scott tested to make sure they worked as needed :) We compared to another well know local company that seemed a bit outdated (no app access/control) and a giant national company (expensive setup, less local, not as individualized attention). Ultimately chose safe and sound for the excellent customer service and highly recommend!

We spoke on Thursday, they said "We will try and have someone out tomorrow". It's now Wednesday and radio silence.

The customer salesman/representative misused my debit card/ debit information and when I called him on it he treated me like I was the criminal. In less than a month my service fee jumped from $53.99 to $54.99. Do not sign a contract with these people. If they knock on your door demand that they leave your property immediately and call the local police. They are supposed to bill you monthly however, they bill every two weeks. People it's a scam. I'm in contact with Elder Abuse Attorneys for financial abuse of seniors. Please contact me if you would like to start a class action suit against ADT. You don't have to be a senior! He did a great job replacing 2 CAT5e cables (that failed although cable 2 still barely worked) with CAT6 runs that are approximately 200 feet including 100ft of 3/4" conduit and replaced the ethernet jacks at both ends.
