First off , we walked into this location and asked for an electric mobility cart. They said they got rid of those for the handicap. For me to get a wheelchair I had to give up my driver's license . That took longer than we were there for because my brother went to the shoe section and we could y get anyone's attention to grab two pairs of shoes he was interested in . I went to pick up a suppressor yesterday and the people were so disrespectful and rude. And I mean like 4-5 employees literally using bad words and laughing and bullying me. I drove 12 hours and barely got there before close-had a trailer so had to park super far and I literally ran so I got there before they closed at 4. I got there to the gun counter and some big bearded bald heavy set guy asked if I needed help and when I said I'm picking up a suppressor, he literally scoffed and threw his pen into the desk and went to the back, I tried to joke off the fact he just acted like a baby when I was picking up the $1200 order I paid for. And I've spend over $10k here so crazy to be treated this way. But this isn't the worst part. There was a group of 3 employees and one was definitely a manager or boss or something, they were saying " 3 more f****** idiots come in right before closing" not knowing I was one of them and standing right next to them. So you have people that don't want to do their jobs and a group of employees and a manager disrespecting and cussing loud and making fun of customers. I'll never be back and I'll be sure to share this experience on every review outlet as well as my network. There was other customers there and we were all looking at each other after hearing this like is this really how we're being treated right now? Sad because I loved this place but will not be returning after seeing this show management engages with staff and how they talk to and about customers is insane. The red hair guy who walked me out was nice but same thing they just joke about it being time to go and how "customers" always come in last second making them stay late. We checked out this place when it first opened. We were very disappointed in the kids chicken fingers meal. It was pathetic. The tiny pieces considered chicken fingers (more like chicken nugget sized) barely had any meat (mainly hard too crispy batter bits). And the staff wasn't clear on what all was included in the meal. I had to explain it to them based on what I was reading off the menu. It was busy, and they didn't seemed prepared. When we looked around, we were not impressed with the prices. We love a visit to Scheel's. Well, not my daughter who doesn't like taxidermy animals nearby. She won't come. My 12yo loves a walk around and ride on the Ferris wheel for $1 per person. They also have a great candy shop, great food cafe that's inexpensive, some arcade games, etc. Any sports equipment you could imagine and lots of clothing and athletic wear. It's a one-stop-shop! We got some stuff we were dealing with one of the managers. His name is Ben. He was awesome. He wanted to find out exactly what we were looking for to help us find what would fit for us. That right there said is the perfect example of great customer service so after that department, we went to look at some other things that went great. We ended up going there the very next day and then we met a young lady from the sports department we were looking for some Eagle stuff. Yes eagle so just to break it down. We are from Philly. We only been here again six years so we still miss our hometown and we still have to represent. But the ladies name we were dealing with was Austin she helped us out a whole lot. We ended up getting some stuff and then she told me that they were getting Super Bowl stuff in and if I want it, she would take our number down and then let us know. Well, the very next day she told me about some things that came in. We went in there and we grabbed some things and were still waiting for some other things to come in, but that was great again Customer service. So far, it has been great. We also met the manager of that department JJagar he was also great. He was telling us about the T-shirts because we were telling him that online it wasn't good so he was explaining to us about how they were getting T-shirt in which ones were going to be different from anything that you see online and that was great and he wasn't lying because I looked online and you couldn't find the same T-shirt. So with all this, that is great Customer Service because you go into some stores and it feels like you're asking somebody for money to help you not good people just want help on trying to find what they're coming into the store to look for and I will tell you another thing I don't think the prices are bad in the store he was telling me that some of the stuff for the Super Bowl might be a little up because of the special designs they are putting on all the supply. We gotta go up there this weekend again I guess I would love the store. This place is huge. So much to see and do. I did take my grandson on the Ferris Wheel for 1.00 each and we did a few games. Saw the mountain of stuffed animals. It was pretty impressive. They opened this Scheels nearby recently and we had to go check it out. It reminded me of a Bass Pro shop but their selection and prices are even better. They have some fish tanks at the entrance and the Ferris wheel in the center of the store which was great for the kids. We walked around and ended up picking up some pool noodles that were reasonably priced and they have some additional activities and products in various areas of the store that were well organized. The sales reps and store employees were really nice and helpful. I will say their firearm section of their store is some of the most well organized and stocked of any store if you're in that. Overall, I would recommend checking this place out if you're in the area and get ready to peruse the facility for awhile as the store itself is huge and had a wide selection. read more

I walked in to the shoe section and was greeted by Gavin right away. I asked for hiking shoes and gave specific parameters of what I was using them for. Gavin demonstrated extensive product knowledge and after measuring my foot and assessing the with we narrowed it down to the right brand. While waiting for having to grab the shoes to try on, there were at least 6 team members who were visibly eager to assist anyone with anything, shoe related or other. There is a feeling of welcom e and Gavin spent about 30 minutes getting different brands and sizes until we got the perfect one. "Am I nuts for coming on their opening weekend?" Is literally what I said to myself as I snaked through the crowds of people getting a first-hand experience of this brand new huge sporting store. Yes, it was crowded, but their employees seemed to still be super helpful and ask if we needed help a few times. I hope that customer service continues after the initial opening storm. I would also suggest having an employee manning the blue test guns. A few younger girls were playing with them and even pointed it at another girls face! Yikes! Anyone under the age of 21 shouldn't be playing with them, even if they are plastic and for show only. Huge miss for gun safety and ensuring customers act appropriately in the gun section. Got to do something about the attitude on the 'hiring manager' in the firearms section. Big beard, big belly, big attitude. Acted like a total tool on Mother's Day Sunday afternoon. Did not listen to me at all. Tried to physically intimidate me by invading personal space after I told him the product he tried to push on me was NOT what I was looking for. Each time I moved to the left and away from him while walking the same direction back to the firearms section, he continually shifted to the left. I thought he was going to step on my shoes. This person should not be a public-facing employee. Let alone someone who's working with weaponry. He's clearly got anger issues and a distinct lack of self-control. I'd encourage the store manager or corporate to review security camera footage to confirm this. Against my better judgement, I did attempt to ask him a follow-up question shortly after this interaction, as he appeared to be the only employee not currently busy with anyone else. He gave me a side eye sneer, acknowledgement, mutter something and quickly disappeared to behind the counter/backroom. I really liked this store until meeting him. It would be great if the store manager or corporate would reach out to me to discuss my experience. Visited on a Thursday afternoon and it was pretty busy. The parking lot was crazy busy. I hate crowds, but I wanted to see inside. I was expecting another Cabela's type of store...but, to my surprise, it was much more! I was dodging strollers, like at Disneyland. LoL! There was a super long line for the Ferris Wheel. They also have nice higher-end apparel, not just sporting goods. There were so many helpful employees everywhere! Yay! Nice curated displays, the merchandise was not too overwhelming or underwhelming, it made me want to shop there! I wasn't expecting to buy anything, but I found a nice top. The fitting rooms were plentiful and well-staffed. They address you by your name and check to see if you need another size. While so many other retailers neglect or cut back on customer service, I was so impressed with Scheel's. The attentive staff was so refreshing! It's HOW service used to be! I wasn't expecting to apply for their cc, but they were offering a promotion I couldn't refuse! $75 free when you open a NEW Scheel's credit card! I was expecting super long lines for check-out, but it was super FAST with no wait. All of the registers were available for quick check-out. WOW! This place blew me away! SCHEELS DOES NOT FOLLOW THE BRADY HANDGUN ACT.! (THEIR STORE POLICY SUPERCEDES YOUR RIGHTS.! THEY DO NOT FOLLOW THE BRADY ACT) I'm on day 52 and still on a delayed background check because their store policy trumps my 2nd amendment right.! The irony of this place is they have the 2nd amendment written on their wall left side of the checkout counter in the gun department. I tried to show one of the employees the brady act which clearly states if the background check is delayed after the 30 day mark then soon after 3 business days the store can legally give me my firearms. The guy just glanced at my phone and said they follow the Brady act. If that were true he would of realized I was showing him the Act but chose to disregard it for whatever reason. This is a speculation but, about 99% of the staff is white and I noticed that their white customers bought their firearms very easily but when it came to me and other people of color we had to wait up to 30 days for our backgrounds to clear. I found other reviews speculating this as well but like I said it's only speculation upon observation, nothing ironclad. A simple google review can show you the act and what it calls for but like I said their policy trumps my rights. Under the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act, if a background check is delayed, a licensed dealer can transfer a firearm after three business days if the FBI hasn't made a determination, unless prohibited by state law. In Arizona, there's no mandated 30-day waiting period for firearm purchases, meaning you can potentially take possession of a firearm after a background check, which can be immediate or take up to 3 business days. After a firearm background check is delayed, the Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) needs to wait three business days for a determination from the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). If no resolution is given within those three business days, the sale may legally proceed, but only if state law permits. After a delayed gun background check in Arizona, the licensed firearms dealer (FFL) can choose to transfer the firearm if three business days pass without a final determination from the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), unless prohibited by state law. In Arizona, if a firearm background check results in a "delayed" response, and after 3 business days the FBI hasn't made a final determination, the Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) may transfer the firearm if permitted by state law, though Arizona doesn't have a waiting period or licensing for firearm purchases. No Arizona State Law Restrictions: Arizona state law permits the transfer of a firearm if a final determination is not made after 3 business days, and if the FFL transfers it, the FFL must note "no resolution was provided within 3 business days" on line 19d of the ATF Form 4473. read more

My family will never shop here again, and I feel like others should be warned. Scheels refuses to lock up ammo and other items that should be locked up, and there have been multiple incidents recently where they have had teens carrying firearms stealing ammo. They will call the cops for the thefts because it is clearly a money-making scheme, but they do not care about employee or customer safety. This store is a HUGE problem in the community, and I fear someone is going to end up getting killed if they don't make changes. read more

The worst for online ordering of firearms. Bought and paid for a shotgun on Monday with a box check for shipping. An hour later, I get a email ready for pick up. I called and told them it is to be shipped to my FFL dealer here where I live 180 miles away. Had to wait till Tuesday morning to have my FFL dealer email their license. Then Scheels charged me $50 for FFL Transfer. I told them I only pay FFL Transfer fees when I pick it up and it is then registered. NOPE, they charge everyone regardless. (I'm sure that is illegal) as I'm not filling out the paperwork or able to show my ID or even sign for it. It is a much longer story but took over a week to get it when I was told it was ready the same day, I paid for it. Even when they got the license on Tuesday a week later, I ask why the hold up. I was told they have to investigate My FFL gun store was legitimate! And for their so-called PRICE MATCHING is a JOKE as well. Never again will I buy from them and no longer going to use their Scheels Credit card which I spend around $2500 or more per month. read more

Sportsmen's Warehouse is probably shaking in their boots. Scheels opened a store in Chandler, and it's a beauty. They have several multiples of 10x the selection: it's more like a Cabela's in terms of size, but their merchandise is better quality, giving the shopper many options compared to Bas Pro Shop, Cabela's, and Sportsmen's Warehouse combined -- without offering the public the same tired brands. What's more, the people working at Scheels are genuinely nice, because they're owners -- and realize that having that self-concerned arrogance typical of Sportsmen's, Cabela's, and Bass Pro accomplishes little or nothing positive. The individual I had approach me as I was looking at display cases was very pleasant, knowledgeable, and thorough. Having selected the item I wanted to purchase, he asked if I needed X, Y, and Z -- what people often need but often forget. I said "No" to his questions and that was that: no upsell, substitutions, etc. He actually asked someone more experienced when I asked him about a certain aspect of what I'd selected, and rather than give me a bunch of Bravo Sierra, he actually asked others. I like that candor. Well done. The store is clean, neatly organized... everything you might want in the way of gear, laid out in a coherent manner. Good inventory, for the most part -- but that's why they call it "shopping" instead of "buying." read more

I recently purchased a new hunting rifle and the person that helped me was fantastic. He help with the selection and stayed focused on only what I asked for. He also walked me around and helped me pick out a case and accessories. The people at the service desk were also great. I purchased my scope from an online vendor and he said bring it in and we will install it! Last night I took them up on the offer. There we a ton of people in the store and I almost did not go in but I was there so....I was standing in line at the service desk in the firearms department and James the Optics Manager saw me as he walked by and asked "Do you need that installed?" YES! and 10-15 minutes later the scope was installed and bore sighted. Both experiences were fantastic. Both the guys and the people at the service desk were enthusiastic and wanted to make sure they took care of me. read more

There was a lot of hype regarding the Grand Opening of Scheels and it is indeed a sight to see! It's a huge store with a ridiculous amount of merchandise. I was surprised by how many higher-end items they carry. Most of the employees we've encountered have been friendly and helpful, but there's a sourpuss in the firearms section that really shouldn't be any type of customer service position. The store is still new so it's clean and well maintained. I hope it remains that way. read more
