Spent alot of time in this area and stopped here to see what the hype was about. The fish tank upon entry, from the parking lot, was neat, as it's in the form of an arch! The other cool thing, was the ferris wheel in the center of the store which cost $1.00 to ride. It looks like it's for kids but adults went on this ride as well. The prices of the clothing and sports gear are a little pricey but they did have some items on sale. I noticed that their sport throw blankets, are cheaper here than they are on Amazon at $39.95 vs Amazon prices starting at $59.99 and up. They have a nice clearance section but it's not very big. We went to the grand opening and had a blast with all of the extra stuff there was to do in the parking lot before the store was even open. We have previously been to Scheels in Reno, NV and Salt Lake City, UT, so we knew what to expect once we stepped inside. It is so awesome to finally have a location this close to us so we can go regularly. For those who have never been, many will tell you it is basically another Bass Pro or Cabella's, but to us it is so much more than that. Scheels has a mix of just about everything. Sure, they have plenty of hunting stuff and outdoors accessories, but they also have a rather extensive toy section, pet section, local university clothing/hats/etc., and a huge Ferris Wheel in the middle of the store. You just don't find these things at the other aforementioned spots. Going to the mall just took on a whole new level since you could literally spend days in Scheels and not see everything they have to offer. It is so much fun to shop here. They even have an aquarium feature on the columns when you walk into the store. Often, you'll see a diver in among the fishes. Love that the company is employee-owned, and they have a great social media presence, too. When you walk in, there is a massive fish tank that serves as the arched entrance into the store. My husband was wondering how it was cleaned and then we saw someone in there cleaning it. It was very cool. While this is a sporting goods store, there's many other things to enjoy. There's a Ferris wheel, animal display, bowling, and a small cafe. We shared a pizza and it wasn't great but the scotcharoos were delicious. There were so many employees walking around and they all said hi and asked if you needed help finding anything. This is the first and only Scheels in AZ currently. It has only been open a week so the crowds are still super intense. While being super busy every single employee we encountered was super friendly and willing to help. They have all sporting/outdoor goods store rolled into 1 plus more. They had spots to test golf clubs, bats etc along with 2 bowling lanes and a Ferris wheel. Lots of clothes, for everyone, outdoor/sporting gear, bikes, firearms, home decor. You want it, they probably have it. With all that shopping you're sure to need something to drink or snack on and they have a coffee bar, jerky, fudge, candy etc. This store is super neat and we spent well over an hour and I still didn't feel like I saw everything. Wow!! All I have to say is WOW. This store is awesome. It is basically a Dick's, Cabela's, and Sportsman's all in one. The selection of products is MASSIVE. They have everything from clothes to camping gear. Not only do they have those things but they have an entire food court area with some stellar coffee and ice cream. For the kids there is this cool little Farris wheel. Everything seemed to be reasonably priced, but certainly a range. Additionally, they offer a wide range of snacks, meals & drinks. High-quality meat items for BBQ'ing and tons of grilling gourmet accessories. Check out the beef jerky in the candy shop too! *There is a small cafe inside the store as well* Can't wait to get in the doors in about an hour. Been in line since 6:45 AM & many have been here since at-least 9 PM last night. They're at the front doors. Scheel's is a fun big box store that started in the Midwest in the early 1900's. It's like Cabela's and Dick's sporting goods combined. Hunting, camping, fishing, clothing, toys, shoes, jewelry, and tons of sporting goods. There are special custom fitting rooms to swing a golf club or baseball bat against a virtual screen. Of course, you can find everything cheaper online, but it's a fun outing to browse through the two stories. This store is HUGE! The grand opening was on Saturday and it is located where Nordstrom used to be. They completely transformed the place and the inside itself is beautiful and very nice! The ceiling is pretty much all glass and it's a pretty blue color when the sun reflects off of it. I visited with the fam on Sunday around 3pm and it was crazy busy. There were people sight seeing and shopping everywhere! We walked in through the main outside doors and we were quickly greeted by the cashiers as we made our way through. The water feature right by the entrance is beautiful! The colors are really pretty and they have live fish! Heck they also even had a real human up in there swimming around - my mom thought it was so cool lol! We walked around the whole store - up and down and that took us about 1.5 hours. Cool things we saw: Shooting range Life sized animals perched on a huge rock (they were fake) Arizona sports team merchandise Local Arizona brands Sports attire Huge selection of water bottles Arcade Café Plenty of photo ops Ferris wheel (only $1 per person) They were playing the Cardinals game on the big TV The employees we interacted with were alllll friendly. I ended up buying some Teva's and the associate that helped me out in the shoe department was very helpful. The floors were fully stocked and organized and they definitely made sure that every department looked good! The cashier was beyond friendly and interacted with us as we were checking out. I spent about $85 on a pair of shoes, pepper spary, and dog treats. If you hate crowds, avoid this place for now as it's hectic and can be overwhelming. Personally, I don't get the negative reviews. In my opinion, the Scheels grand opening event was fun, inclusive, and lively! For the event, they had a few vendors providing food/drink samples including coffee, bbq, and pizza for everyone to snack on. There were also fun games for children to enjoy like mini golf and corn hole to name a few. The Scheels staff provided water and samples of fudge to everyone too. The water was definitely needed as it was quite warm today. My husband and I received a hat and a token for a free ride on the Ferris wheel! There were gift card giveaways for everyone to enter and swag was handed out in different areas. The staff of the event were helpful, friendly, and super welcoming. The queue to enter the store was very long, and they did a great job trying to effectively control the crowd. Upon entering the store, it can be overwhelming. There is so much to see! There are two levels to this store. The first floor included clothing, shoes, and accessories for the family. There was also a restaurant/sweet shop to enjoy too. The second floor included home decor, dog toys/treats, kids toys, & sport products specifically for baseball, basketball, hunting, etc. While browsing, the staff provided details on the merchandise and were quick to offer help if needed. The prices for their products were on par with other department store retailers. They carry name brands like Canada Goose, Birkenstock, Under Armor, Uggs, Nike, etc. Overall, I would highly recommend checking Scheels out. Scheels is brand new to AZ so we took a day of winter break to make the 45 mile trek to Chandler to check it out. If you need anything outdoor related and can't find it at Scheels, maybe it doesn't exist because they had everything and more!! It's like if REI, Dicks Sporting Goods, Cabelas, and Bass Pro Shop all had a baby. There is so much to do and see. For the kids there is a giant fish tank, an old timey shooting gallery (carnival style), rollerball (bowling) lanes, a giant display of animals, lego statues, an arcade and a Ferris wheel. Everything is very affordable to do. Word to the wise though: bring cash. Some of the attractions didn't take card. The bowling is also $1 per person per game and a game is 5 frames. There is a cafe and a coffee shop for food too incase you don't want to venture into the mall food court. For the adults, whatever sport or hobby you or your family are interested in, they got you. They have also custom fitting and ranges for baseball, crossbows, and golf clubs. Custom help for almost any piece of equipment too like bikes and boards. Any outdoor mainstream brand you're looking, and even some more niche or cottage brands, you should be able to find here. We spent a lot of time just looking at all the different "shops", like for outdoor gear, soccer, official sports team merch, athletic wear, and even local brands. The kids really wanted to use the basketball hoops but they were just for display, even though it looked like they were set up on a mini court for play. Wow!I had no idea what I was missing. My friends from the Midwest were very excited when they heard this store was opening on Oct 1, 2023. Now I can see why. They carry a variety of name brand clothing, shoes, swim wear, babies and kids. They really are an all in one store. You could spend the whole day wander in g through the first and second floor. In the back it connects with the mall. It was so large that at first I thought it just kept going. At first you are greeted outside by giant statues of the presidents and a memorial to all the different branches of the military. There is a cute Arizona sign inside where you can be the I in AZ for a picture. Past the registers is a giant 3 column aquarium with a variety of exotic fish. On the first floor I was particularly partial to the clothes and accessories. They had a very nice selection of cute Ariat boots and trendy clothes for fall fashions. There was quite a line for the Ferris wheel, and we stopped by the candy store looking for Scotcheroos which my friends said was a must have. However they were sold out for the past two days and they recommended coming back next week. The second floor has everything you need for outdoors: workout equipment, supplements, hunting gear, guns, archery, all sports including a very nice selection of Pickleball rackets, and a variety of home decor. Scattered throughout the store is a batting range simulator to try different bays, a bowling alley with two lanes, a shooting gallery and arcade. I feel like I only scratched the surface of this store after walking around for two hours. It was quite crowded even on a weekday since it only opened 12 days ago. I didn't understand all the hoopla about this place until I finally went. As I entered the store I experienced something magical... it felt like being a kid again. This is pretty much a toy store for anyone who loves fitness and outdoor stuff. The selection of athletic clothing is phenomenal! I discovered brands and clothing pieces I didn't know existed. It's hard not to compare Scheels to the other similar businesses. Like Scheels' contemporaries, there is a plethora of camping, hunting, fishing, and other outdoor merchandise. Scheels have clothing for the outdoors and everyday. Prices on clothing are on the higher side. This location is a great resource for local college and professional sports team gear. I was surprised to see furniture, housewears, toys, and even luggage. One of the big things that sets Scheels apart is that it has even more activities. The ferris wheel is only $1 per rider, and is located on the main floor. A small two lane bowling alley is located on the second floor, near the archery targets. Near the firearms is the electronic shooting gallery. There is also an arcade. Like Bass Pro Shop, there is a large display of taxidermy animals. One could stay at Scheels for hours. This store is huge! Beautifully designed. Iconic historical figures right outside the store. When you first walk in, you will see there are many potential photos ops. There is a cute area where you can stand to be the "I" in Arizona (letters as tall as people!) in the Arizona flag colors. As you pass the registers you see a massive aquarium shaped as if three columns are carrying a tank with lots of healthy fish. And if you're lucky you can see someone maintaining the tank. Just past this, is a grand ferris wheel! And yes you can ride it for $1. This place is 2 floors. They have everything you can think of for sports apparel, equipment, and also a variety of spots where you can play games for all ages like bowling, a shooting range, a beautiful display of outdoor animals, photo ops in a football uniform, standing next to a grizzly bear, and so much more. I've been told that this is the only Scheels in the state. They carried a brand that I've never seen in any store that I've only seen online (Sherpani). It was very impressive to see the high end brands they carry! The store promotes their own credit card. I was told that it was for online purchases and not purchases in the store. Still, if you're an avid online shopper then this is for you! They have great sales, too. People working are friendly and they're always busy working hard.
