Today, I visited the Gilbert 511 location, first timer. My son had to get a specific type of pant for his upcoming job opportunity. The sizing was super accurate. Quick "in & out" of the dressing room. The style of pant was a slim comfortable fit. The narrow pocket on the left will work well for carrying things. Items that clip or say a flashlight can carry well clipped on the edge of the front or rear pockets. The clothes here are noted to be extremely durable and from what we've come to understand; is that they lasts for YEARS, so ultimately it's worth the high end price point. The store carries much more than just clothes here. Features footwear, accessories and tons of tactical equipment. The employee (Eli?) that assisted us was very helpful and informative about the products we purchased. He has been working for them for 4 years and his knowledge of the brands and customer service was excellent. My son seems extremely happy with his purchase and is excited at what's to come. This store is perfect. I'd heard about 5.11 for a while and needed work pants for a new job I've got coming up, so I stopped in and ended up talking with Austin about what kind of pant I needed and why that specific one would work best for what I needed, and to keep it short Austin was phenomenal. I like their backpacks and bags. I had only shopped their online site and discovered this location. At the time there was a 25% off sale and I was interested in a sling pack. Oddly enough when I stepped into the store I didn't feel welcome. There were 3 ladies and a guy standing behind the register who appeared to glare at me an looked away. As I was browsing thru the store I could here them discussing personal issues that probably shouldn't be public. While looking about one of the ladies cut me off to get a product the turned around and cut me off again. No excuse me or anything. While looking at the pants a different one did the same thing. In all that time I was in the store no one asked I needed assistance or even greeted me. They went back to discussing their personal issues. Apparently customer service is not a priority here. I decided that I would not purchase anything here and began to make my way out. I will not come back to this location again. read more

Today I ventured out in hopes of finding a specific kind of shirt for work. I was greeted and made to feel welcome upon entry. After 2 minutes of me probably appearing quite lost, Mark approached me to assist. What I had in mind wasn't out on the sales floor, nor could he find it online. (I appreciated that he checked.) Most associates would just shrug and say, "Sorry about that I guess we don't have it" and move along but as soon as I could turn around, Mark had brought up a whole box from the back of the exact kind of shirt I was looking for. You just don't see that kind of genuity very often anymore, nor does anyone really ever go the extra mile to help someone out. This is exactly the kind of service any business should be providing, especially the friendly demeanor! The shirts are durable quality and beautifully crafted, and I love all of the different designs! As a first time customer having this kind of experience, I can definitely see myself returning soon. read more

Came in to this location, spent nearly $600, they don't honor veteran or LEO discounts. Shameful!!! Then on top of it, their clearance sign clearly says "take an additional" 30% of clearance items. Ordered my brother a birthday gift for pickup in this store (CHANDLER). All items were shown as "in stock" online. The items were not in stock in the color I ordered so my brother asked to change the colors. They allowed him to do this BUT then made him pay for his entire birthday gift as he was told that they had to cancel my original order for the exact same items just a different colorway. I received an email for the refund of $233 even though I paid online $346. I had to call corporate to get this resolved. Unbelievable - avoid this location for the following reasons - 1) inventory management is not kept current. They will show they have items online OR even if you call them and when you show up you learn that they didn't have it in the first place. 2) customer service is lackluster. They have a "take it or leave it" attitude. 3) they don't seem to be able to count or do basic math at all. Corporate resolved my issue with the incomplete refund but this took way too much of my time when it should have been a very easy transaction. All in all, avoid the headache and shop elsewhere. read more

My family and I visited the Chandler store a few days ago. We usually received excellent service where the employees are attentive. This recent visit was very different - our family's experience in the store was less than sub par customer service. The employees were not helpful to our family comparative to other patrons in the store. We are long standing 5.11 customers and we may have to shift our patronage to the Phoenix store or even permanently online. read more

This was my first time shopping in the store. Its 2pm on a Wednesday. There were 3 employees. I was shopping for ladies pants. They have their end of year sale going on and when I walked in all I saw were mens clothes. I asked a staff member where the ladies items were. The sale items were at the front door and the other ladies items were scattered around at the back of the store. The mannequins all looked about the same. There isn't much signage to differentiate. So I tried a bunch of different styles and sizes because there never seems to be much consistency between size 4-10. I chose 2 pairs of sale pants and 2 regular priced pants. When I got to the register and was getting rung out, I asked about the sale prices on the 2 pairs of pants. The gal looked confused and said she wasn't sure. She asked the manager and he seemed rather flustered about something, perhaps a difficult phone call. He grabbed the 4 pairs I was purchasing and didnt really look at them but gave me a price reduction anyway. There were no mark down prices on the sale pants so how would anyone know? Not sure about the policy on this, kinda strange. Also the manager did not give off a very friendly "come back and see us again real soon" kinda vibe. He gave off a distracted Fred Flintstone vibe. After he punched in the discount on the cash register screen he spun around and walked very purposefully to check the changing room to find that I had left it clean. I took my pants and walked out. I really want to like this store. The clothes seem well made and the store itself was clean. I don't mind paying more for well made clothes. Not sure what happened with the manager. Hope the store isn't get hit with theft. read more

This store is great. Happy to have them right here in Chandler. Great selection of high quality clothes. Happened to find my size in several styles. This is a great new store. The location of this store is fantastic and this place should succeed here. The pricing is a little expensive. However, the quality of their products are high. They had clothing, bags, shoes, and other tactical gear. We did not purchase anything, but do have some of their products from other spots. Would highly recommend. read more

5 stars for the products, 2 stars for customer service. Same issue you run into at certain gun stores: if you don't have "the look", staff treats you like something they stepped in. One of the guys behind the counter was decked out in a carrier vest for some reason, and was giving me stinkeye before I even got to the entrance. Just went downhill from there: mostly ignored, until I finally picked up a box of shoes I wanted and walked over to look at something else. Now I had their attention, following me around asking if they could hang onto the shoes like I was going to make a run for it. Then there was a card read error at checkout, and instead of letting me swipe again the guy has to announce "LOOKS LIKE YOUR CARD WAS DECLINED, BRO." Thanks, bro. Recognition for high customer service - Super nice staff all round. First time in this store: it's well organized, and nicely laid out (good lighting and easy to navigate around). Clothing is nicely presented and easy to view. Our salesperson Jenee, was alert, friendly, and also wonderfully efficient - she knew what we wanted, and she knew her stock. As what we wanted wasn't in store, she was able to offer us acceptable alternatives, which although they weren't what we needed at that moment, were in keeping with what we were looking for, so we bookmarked those for later. In addition, unasked, she smoothly looked up, and legibly wrote down the item number of what we actually needed, and so we were able to order the product on-line, at home, with minimum fuss. Competent sales staff, and decent selection of various products - Nice shopping experience: happy to go back in store, rather than simply ordering on-line. read more
