My family will never shop here again, and I feel like others should be warned. Scheels refuses to lock up ammo and other items that should be locked up, and there have been multiple incidents recently where they have had teens carrying firearms stealing ammo. They will call the cops for the thefts because it is clearly a money-making scheme, but they do not care about employee or customer safety. This store is a HUGE problem in the community, and I fear someone is going to end up getting killed if they don't make changes. read more

Sportsmen's Warehouse is probably shaking in their boots. Scheels opened a store in Chandler, and it's a beauty. They have several multiples of 10x the selection: it's more like a Cabela's in terms of size, but their merchandise is better quality, giving the shopper many options compared to Bas Pro Shop, Cabela's, and Sportsmen's Warehouse combined -- without offering the public the same tired brands. What's more, the people working at Scheels are genuinely nice, because they're owners -- and realize that having that self-concerned arrogance typical of Sportsmen's, Cabela's, and Bass Pro accomplishes little or nothing positive. The individual I had approach me as I was looking at display cases was very pleasant, knowledgeable, and thorough. Having selected the item I wanted to purchase, he asked if I needed X, Y, and Z -- what people often need but often forget. I said "No" to his questions and that was that: no upsell, substitutions, etc. He actually asked someone more experienced when I asked him about a certain aspect of what I'd selected, and rather than give me a bunch of Bravo Sierra, he actually asked others. I like that candor. Well done. The store is clean, neatly organized... everything you might want in the way of gear, laid out in a coherent manner. Good inventory, for the most part -- but that's why they call it "shopping" instead of "buying." read more

I recently purchased a new hunting rifle and the person that helped me was fantastic. He help with the selection and stayed focused on only what I asked for. He also walked me around and helped me pick out a case and accessories. The people at the service desk were also great. I purchased my scope from an online vendor and he said bring it in and we will install it! Last night I took them up on the offer. There we a ton of people in the store and I almost did not go in but I was there so....I was standing in line at the service desk in the firearms department and James the Optics Manager saw me as he walked by and asked "Do you need that installed?" YES! and 10-15 minutes later the scope was installed and bore sighted. Both experiences were fantastic. Both the guys and the people at the service desk were enthusiastic and wanted to make sure they took care of me. read more

There was a lot of hype regarding the Grand Opening of Scheels and it is indeed a sight to see! It's a huge store with a ridiculous amount of merchandise. I was surprised by how many higher-end items they carry. Most of the employees we've encountered have been friendly and helpful, but there's a sourpuss in the firearms section that really shouldn't be any type of customer service position. The store is still new so it's clean and well maintained. I hope it remains that way. read more

Giving a 4 star due to the amount of people that were inside the store - it was very difficult to walk through the store due to the crowding. This store has it all; a mix of high end brands with some mid priced merchandise as well. The place is packed with visitors, tourists, and shoppers. Most appeared to be checking things out; definitely a destination. Here's the rub - all prices are full retail. I suspect sales will be in the cards, just too much merchandise to move. What an awesome place!! I just recently came to this place for the first time and it blew my mind! You can buy pretty much anything here (bath bombs, sports apparel, strollers, guns, shoes, candy, Christmas decor etc etc) and enjoy a whole experience. They have a Ferris wheel, arcade games and shooting games. There is also a large saltwater fish tank on the first floor. It appears there is a food court on the second floor too. All of the employees are super helpful and available. We love this store! So happy it's in Chandler. read more

The worst for online ordering of firearms. Bought and paid for a shotgun on Monday with a box check for shipping. An hour later, I get a email ready for pick up. I called and told them it is to be shipped to my FFL dealer here where I live 180 miles away. Had to wait till Tuesday morning to have my FFL dealer email their license. Then Scheels charged me $50 for FFL Transfer. I told them I only pay FFL Transfer fees when I pick it up and it is then registered. NOPE, they charge everyone regardless. (I'm sure that is illegal) as I'm not filling out the paperwork or able to show my ID or even sign for it. It is a much longer story but took over a week to get it when I was told it was ready the same day, I paid for it. Even when they got the license on Tuesday a week later, I ask why the hold up. I was told they have to investigate My FFL gun store was legitimate! And for their so-called PRICE MATCHING is a JOKE as well. Never again will I buy from them and no longer going to use their Scheels Credit card which I spend around $2500 or more per month. read more

This is a really great traditional department store. Their customer service is excellent, and the value for some of the items provided is great in part due to the guarantees, warranties, and the services they continue to uphold. Their furniture has upholstery that can be changed from 100's of swatches, which absolutely blows my mind! The variety of goods they have is astounding, in terms of accessories, homeware, fishing, hunting, sporting goods, shoes, clothing - you name it, they probably have it. The store is very large and has two floors, and they do have elevators to assist. They have a ferris wheel which is very popular as you may have heard, and some of the store clerks are very kind on low foot traffic days, and provide the kids with free ride and arcade tokens. Their toy department is lovely, and it's so fun for the kids. They have a play area, and a Fuzziwigs, and some awesome niche day to day accessory items that you might have a hard time finding elsewhere. What more can you ask for?! They have a lot of the "sold out" items that you'll see upsold for excessive amounts on the internet, but they keep these items in stock typically, which is really convenient. Some of the clothing can be a bit pricey, but I believe you are getting what you pay for and that's a good thing. They don't take themselves too seriously which is also refreshing - they support golf as a sport and carry a lot of items for it but they also have comedic shirts about it too. I tried their freeze dried candy for the first time last week, and it was really an experience. They have a dippin' dots inside the candy factory and a beef jerky stand - the jerky was seriously amazing. Believe it or not, the turkey was what left the biggest impression with me. I think they have something for everyone. The aquarium is very eye-catching. We will most definitely be back! read more

Scheels has single- handedly revived the Chandler mall. It was almost always a ghost town until this store opened and now it's packed with people. Scheels definitely lures people in with their amazing customer service and great selection of brands. It's been so busy the three times we've been that you're practicing tripping over people just to get where you want to go. It's an amazing store, but I've noticed that prices are a little high compared to some places. Walking around the mall before stopping in, I found certain items on sale at other stores in the mall that are full price in Scheels. Other people may not do their research, but I sure do! read more

Parking is terrible. Most of their clientele drive big trucks or SUVs. The spaces themselves are too narrow. They should repaint and make the spaces larger. Otherwise selection is great inside the store. read more

I've never been in one of their stores, even though I am an avid outdoorsman, however their HR department is lacking. They were hiring a buyer for Off Price goods and I was/am an expert having worked for one of the largest companies in the industry. I sent my resume to them 3 times as I was looking for a change. I never heard a word back from them. No thanks for applying, have a great day but we're not interested, nothing. I've always felt it is better to be the best rather than just like everyone else. Today was my 4th time visiting. Every single time I've been, they've been busy, and every single time the customer service has been top notch. If I or someone with me had a question it was answered immediately or found out right away. If we were shopping for something we were taken to it and if it was in multiple places we were shown them all. Today I had several questions about shoes, as I needed a new pair for work. The salesperson took the time to listen, asked questions and helped me find exactly what I needed. And, they offer a military discount. So grateful, every penny helps. The store is huge with 2 floors. They have a large variety of high quality product. You can find casual wear, sports ware, sports equipment, including golf, camping and hunting gear, home goods, among many other items. They even have a casual restaurant, coffee shop and candy store, along with a shooting game, bowling alley, fish tanks, and a ferris wheel! My daughter and I went back a few times to get through the store. We ended up buying some nice clothes. You can go back many times and find something new. I went and bought a rifle for Christmas and they gave me the wrong product, I went and asked for a refund and I ended losing $100 for their mistake. When I received the product I asked a few times if it was the long barril rifle and they said yes. I opened on Christmas and I noticed it was short. I bought two boxes of ammunition and got no refund and I have no use for them. They should eat the cost not me. They acted like if they were doing me a favor.
