We love Scargo! It has been our favorite restaurant on the Cape for years. You know exactly what you're going to get each time you go- friendly staff, great service and delicious food across their menu. Anke was our server tonight and she blew us away with her service. She was extremely attentive (perfectly executed every modification from our orders from memory), sweet, and thoughtful (we celebrated a birthday and she was so kind to relight the candle and insist on taking our picture and automatically added our birthday discount to the check even though we had forgotten the coupon). I've been to this place for decades. I definitely give it an AA for marketing with all of its discounts and free sides, birthday treats and all the rest of it. The food is good but nothing exceptional except for two items. I must say the last time I had the first item was not quite as good as I could remember but it's still pretty good and that is the seafood strudel. This is a cape trip staple for us. They have redesigned beautifully after covid with a great, safe bar seating and outdoor area on the patio. In the cooler weather they had little greenhouses which was cute and offered a fun dining experience. Highly recommend their cocktails and apps. We initially reserved the green houses outdoors a couple of weeks ago and of course there was a huge snowstorm the day before. Although it would have been so nice to sit out there with the snow, it was a bit cold and hubby decided we should eat indoors. I actually am glad we did that as I would have felt so guilty if waitstaff had to go out there to serve us! Anyway, we went indoors to the nice quiet front room. The service is absolutely the best there. They gave me a credit for our reservation. I got the special Mongolian Lamb Shops encrusted with pistachios and the side was a cous cous. It was absolutely delicious! Just had the leftovers and remembered how yummy so decided I had to write a great review. My husband had the buffalo chicken tenders (for which he says is one of the best he has ever had and he gets them everywhere!) and the chicken sandwich with cole slaw. Also was a great meal. While it is a bit on the pricey side, the quality of the service AND food is totally worth it! Can't wait to go back again! I haven't been to the Scargo Cafe in 20 years. I guess it didn't impress then either. My daughter and I decided on an early dinner and stopped in on our way to Orleans. I started with the crab cakes with pineapple salsa; she with the full order of shrimp martini. The presentation of hers was great. The crab cakes where burned. Not crispy. Burned. The weren't worth sending back but it was so obvious they were burned. How does a chef allow burned food to be served? The chicken sandwich I ordered was dry and tasteless. The waitstaff was spot on. We had 6 for dinner with a reservation - (1) reservation was honored within 5 minutes of desires time, (2) waitress promptly greeted us and took drink orders, (3) waitress promptly took food order, explained specials and willingly accepted menu changes. Great experience! We had our meal in the outdoor greenhouse and loved it. The chowder appetizer was just okay, but the fried chicken sandwich & pecan square were absolutely amazing! The best food we have had in a long time! My husband had the swordfish and I had the twin filet special. The swordfish was delicious and a great portion. My dinner was a surprise of flavor and texture in every bite. I wish I had taken a picture of the beautiful presentation! We also enjoyed the Oysters Scargo as an appetizer. Our server, Morgan, was very friendly and attentive. We went early so we did not have to wait for a table. But even if we had to wait, it would have been well worth it. read more

This is an update from my review of 8 years ago when we started coming here. Since then we make it to Scargo's at least a couple times every year, especially when entertaining friends and family at our house in Harwich. So just went again last evening. I had the always reliable boneless short rib and another diner the also always reliable seafood strudel. Both the chef has down cold - delicious and excellent choices from their mostly never changing menu. The special last evening, lobster Florentine, recommended by our waitress, my wife ordered, was priced $10 higher than the ribs and strudel (to be expected, it's lobster!) but the dish consisted of several rather tasteless and soggy claw meat pieces. For $42 I would expect at least the full meat from a one pound lobster. What to take away from this? At Scargo, stick to the regular menu! Don't worry Scargo, we'll be back again and again in the future. read more

We came here for lunch after a morning at Mayflower beach. I have two toddler boys so having food readily available to keep the car rides short is important. It was off-season, so we had the porch to ourselves. Service was great - the waitress brought out two vintage Etch-a-Sketch for my boys and they loved it! They have a small children's menu which is always helpful with toddlers. We got the sweet potato dippers for an app (free courtesy of Yelp check-in) and they simply primed us for the food to come. Fresh bread and butter topped off the preparation. I got the lobster Mac and cheese. The menu claims it's top ten in Massachusetts and I have no reason to doubt it! Portion was good - not too big but full of lobster. Kids got Mac and cheese and chicken fingers and my wife got the arugula salad with chicken. All of it was fantastic. Each order had a carrot cake muffin on the side which was very good. It ended up being a bit on the expensive side for lunch but it was worth it. read more

Tonight, they didn't even let us know our table was ready. Our waitress was curt, aloof, and unapologetic. So my wife and I were on our way to the Cape Cinema in Dennis on 4/23/19 for a 2:00 pm movie and we decided to go to Scargo Cafe (one of our Cape favs) beforehand. We arrived around noon and were informed that the wait was around 20 minutes so we decided to just sit at the bar, which had no wait. Our server was Nikki and she took great care of us from beginning to end. My wife and I both enjoyed a cup of the soup as an appetizer. For entrees my wife had the crab melt and she loved her choice, and I had the Wedge Salad with no protein and it was absolutely delicious. We have been here on numerous occasions and we have never been disappointed. The food is always fresh and delicious, and the service top notch. I highly recommend this fine establishment. 1-15-17 On our visit today I went with the Parisian Pate and it was delicious. Ordered the Tuna Poke (saw it on FB) and to say it was outstanding wasn't enough! One of the best meals I have ever had! Hubby had the Tuna Martini (my usual) and the lamb. He also loved it! This morning I think I need mo 6-1-17 Another superb meal: charcuterie for me, Tuna Martini for hubby. I wish I had taken a picture of my dish, it looked as good as it tasted. Everything from the drinks, salad, entree and desserts were all very fresh and flavorful. This place is a gem. I happened upon it by chance. All you wonderful yelpers put this place up on top. So naturally I trust you all and gave this place a try. The place is rustic, but tasteful. It was also packed, on a Tuesday, in December. That speaks for itself. For appetizers, get the sweet potato dippers ('cuz they're free when you check in) and the oysters scargo. The oysters were a hybrid of escargot, oysters Rockefeller, and artichoke dip. Sweet and juicy oysters with an artichoke and spinach dip and bacon. Can't really go wrong with that. The seafood strudel is decadent. Scallops, shrimp, and crab all stuffed in puff pastry and smothered in Newburg sauce. Almost too much of a great thing. Almost. We were driving through the area, and happened to spot this place so we ended up eating here for lunch. We ordered the seafood strudel, asian fish sandwich, and grapenut custard. The strudel was delicious. I really liked the pie crust since it was very flakey. And the Newberg sauce on top tasted great. The sauce was rich and creamy, but unfortunately, since they poured the sauce on top of the strudel, most of the crust became soggy underneath. But overall, I really enjoyed the strudel, especially since there was a ton of seafood inside. There were small shrimps, some crab meat, and 3 huge tender scallops. I tried some of the scrod sandwich and it was really tasty too. I liked the seaweed they put in the sandwich, and the sesame sauce was good. For dessert, we tried the famous grapenut custard, and we also liked it. The custard was light, creamy, and not too sweet. While the prices are higher than I'd like, the food was good and the restaurant itself is really nice. read more

We had a great time at Scargo Cafe. We didn't have reservations, but they had a back deck set up where we could wait for our table while enjoying some appetizers and drinks. When our table was ready, we had excellent service, and enjoyed all of the dishes we ordered. We'll definitely make this a regular stop during our summer trips to The Cape. read more

I read a few of the other reviews before venturing to this spot. Had me a little concerned about giving them a shot. In the end, I'm happy I did. Friday evening with 4 adults and 4 kids. Greeted promptly and sat with only 2 of the total party. Immediately approached by the waitress. She was attentive throughout and accommodating when I started asking for a little extra attention by sampling beers on tap. As the remainder of the party arrived, waters all around were delivered. Quickly delivered the check-in app of sweet potato fries, which everyone loved. The food...5 out of a possible 5. Burgers cooked to correct temps. Fries crispy and hot. Shrimp cooked to perfection and still hot on a cold salad. Baked fish....hot. We really tested all ends of the kitchen and they measured up. No question we will be returning to see what else they have for offerings. I can't recommend this place enough. read more
