We've been long time customers of the Marshside, coming every time we go to the Cape. I will say that this time, that while the food was delicious as usual, the experience was a little underwhelming. Gorgeous setting as always. Though it was a little drizzly, they seated us by the window, giving a beautiful view of the marsh. We had the Mac and cheese with lobster, the swordfish, the salmon, the lobster risotto with spring peas, and the clams with linguini. All were delicious and beautifully prepared. Complaints - no bread service, especially as it took 30 min to prepare. I could have sworn they had bread before. Clams had sand in them unfortunately. Staff was unable to find any red chili flakes. Staff were appropriately courteous throughout the meal, although front of house did seem a bit flustered with the crowds. read more

Returned back and had a lovely New Year's Day meal. They offered a prefixed menu (with a variety of options to pick from). The menu came with a complimentary champagne. I started with a lavender drop drink. For food I had the butternut and apple squash, then for my meal I had the risotto (vegan) and ended with a dessert. Forgot the name of the dessert - had toffee on it. The soup was good, the meal was great and the dessert was so delicious. Perfect soft dessert with toffee drizzle and ice cream on the side. Inside the restaurant is warm and inviting despite the high ceiling. Color scheme is warm and the layout of booths is great. The view of the water and marsh is absolutely beautiful. Had lunch there today both my husband and I had the clam chowder just the right consistency not too thin or thick, taste was delicious the only one negative I have is that it could have been hotter. Fried scallop plate was perfectly done, on the plate was shoestring fries, coleslaw and tartar sauce. Grilled meatloaf sandwich that dies not show on the menu online was really good with melted cheese, grilled onions and a delicious sauce, shoestring fries and a pickle. Visited during a busy lunchtime and waited about 15 minutes, which was perfectly fine since we were seated in a cozy booth with a beautiful marsh view. We enjoyed a few cocktails and shared the calamari appetizer--it was excellent. For our entrées, we had the apple cider short rib and the grilled swordfish, both of which were delicious. Stunning marsh views visible from outside seating and many tables inside. Ample seating which includes a decent sized bar. There is complimentary valet. We went on an early Sunday evening and were able to be seated quickly. We decided not to get appetizers, but the burrata sounded nice. The drink menu was plentiful. The fish and chips was thickly battered and large with think cut, tasty fries. There was a quinoa and carrot hummus bowl with pickled veggies. We added grilled shrimp. It was a very nice meal. We did not view the desserts. Service was fun. We left around 6:30pm and there was a fairly long wait. The views are definitely the highlight of the spot. read more

I went to Marshside on 2/27 at about 2pm. I was very disappointed in my entree/main meal. The scallops were overcooked and the sauce was so strong that it was all I could taste. It was not very good and it completely wiped out my ability to taste the scallops, veggies and raviolis. Very disappointing. It was expensive so they should have refunded my money. We were also told there were no tables for our party of 2 except at the bar, despite nearly every window table being open. The burger was also cooked well done instead of medium, but it tasted good. I enjoy Marshside. I have to admit that I long for the old days when it was a small restaurant in a converted house that could barely fit 20 people. Back then the menu changed according to the chef's menu of the day. However, their success over the years meant growth; so they expanded in order to serve a greater number of hungry visitors. Cape Cod in the summer can prove difficult to find a last mini spot to have a satisfying meal, and Marshside never disappoints. They have a list of regular items (both seafood and American fare) plus interesting seasonal features. The staff are polite and quick. They have to be due to the large restaurant and quick table turnover. Most of the seats in the restaurant have a commanding view of the marsh and it can be quite a romantic setting if you have an outdoor seat. The bar area is large and vibrant if you are dining alone or with a friend. read more

Per their WEB page - "Located in East Dennis, MA overlooking scenic Sesuit creek." I'm a local from South Yarmouth, MA, it's off season (March) on the Cape and it's a Sunday afternoon. Wife and I arrived and asked hostess Alison if we could have a window seat. I'd been told that the views were great, their WEB page says they're great, and it being our first time here, a window view would be nice. Alison informs us that can't be done as things get busy at 3PM; its now 2:40PM. We take an alternate table - one of us gets a view :( There are 7 window tables open when we were seated and 7 tables remained open until 4:40PM when all 10 window tables were available. ??????????? So, when leaving just before 5PM and when people did start coming for dinner I wanted to share my thoughts on Alison's not so accommodating hostess skills by blocking preferred seating. As I attempted to express myself with her on the way out she quickly deferred my conversation to the manager who to my surprise, was also the bartender and our waiter; he introduced himself as Joe. Joe our waiter, now Joe the manager was polite and professional, and assured us that our concerns would be passed on. Alison, it's off season, you don't take reservations; so, if you have empty tables, what are you saving them for? Should it not be first come - first served? Aside from Alison's goof, the food was exceptional, the drinks (made by Joe) perfect, and the service (from Joe) outstanding. Service was on point w our server Taylor! My husband had the mushroom ravioli w scallops and loved it! My lobster risotto wasn't very flavorful but the mussels and burrata apps made up for it. Location was great and we were quoted a 40+ min wait for 5 and only waited 10mins on Labor Day weekend! It was packed to the hilt but not loud & it didn't feel crowded. Unfortunately we can't rate the food because of the terrible experience trying to have lunch at the Marshside. Our problem was that we were just 2...... Half empty restaurant at 1:40pm but as we were told "we can't give you a table because we are waiting for parties of 4 or 6". There were at least 6-7 empty tables at the time. Well, looked like for the manager was better to have empty tables but to give it to us.... Fortunately there are great and more friendly restaurants at the Cape and the bad experience didn't spoiled our day...:) Not going there again! read more

When you fuck up and don't make a reservation for dinner on Cape Cod in the summer, you rely on restaurants like this that don't take a reservation. Don't make the same mistake we did and assume that going early in this neck of the woods is going to get you a table. Typically, if I'm trying to get in somewhere I expect to be busy without a reservation, I aim for super early or super late. We arrived between 5:30 and 6 and it was a mad house. By the time we left at around 7-7:30, it was quiet. Elderly special hours lmao. I guess this is what it's like in Florida? I was excited to check this place out also because how often do you dine with the view of a MARSH? wtaf? I'm all over weird shit like that but immediately regretted the decision when I remembered that this place would be a mosquito's paradise. Even better, a table was available immediately outside so we snagged that up. The drink menu has a lot of interesting things. I ordered the lavender gin spritz which not only was presented beautifully, but was quite good. GF ordered the happy jack. When asked if she liked it, she replied, "I did, it was like a rum punch". We split one more, their bloody mary, and this thing was HOT. If you like to be hit in the face with a brick when you sip on a bloody mary, this one is for you. Their food menu contains a bunch of classics and some more creative items. Take my review with a grain of salt because I do not eat seafood but I appreciated their effort to provide some vegetarian options but they could have done better. The only two vegetarian entrees they offered was the mac and cheese and fish tacos with an option for fried plantains instead. I didn't want something as heavy as mac and cheese and the fried plantain tacos were the same price as the fish ($24) which is steep. GF and I started with the crispy fried burrata to share. This was very good. The fried burrata, obviously, was fucking delicious and I liked the flavors of the sundried tomato pesto. Capers were a very nice touch as well. I would have appreciated if this was served with more bread. GF ordered the fish and chips which she said was too heavy. The breading was too thick. She describes it as "like a chicken tender but not as satisfying to eat". I ordered the tomato and pepper soup as well as one of their salads. I wish I could provide more specifics on the salad but the menu on their website is not up to date. The soup was excellent. The salad was just...not good. It had quite a bit of potential with strawberries and seasoned cashews but was WAY too heavily dressed. I couldn't finish it. The service was decent. I get the gimmick they have with the marsh shit and maybe their other seafood is really good but it just didn't do it for me. read more

Great food and great views! They bring out (many) bread rolls with whipped butter that has chives in it. Both the bread and butter were delicious and we finished all of them. The corn chowder and clam chowder soup were good. We ordered the calamari for $17 and felt like there were not many calamaris actually in it, and that there were lots of sweet peppers. It did have a good sauce. We said something to our waiter about it and he said the chef was trying out a new recipe. For my main dish, I ordered the linguine with clams for $30 and was very impressed. It was the perfect amount, I didn't need to take any home for leftovers. For the service, I had read some recent reviews that they were struggling, and we came on 4th of July weekend and didn't have any problems. Which is truly lovely. - Our server was SO kind and we never had to remind him of something we needed. - my drink was strong! - complimentary valet Cons: it was incredibly busy on a Thursday night. But a pro is that you can order from the bar during your wait. - the food was really under-seasoned. Once I added salt and some Parmesan to my Chicken Francese it was better. Also my dish had a ton of capers and a laughably small amount of chopped tomatoes and the white wine sauce was basically a soup at the bottom of my dish. My husband had the honey chicken salad and the chicken was dry and also under-seasoned. We ordered the kids pasta marinara for our son and it was a huge portion (pro) but I had to add the marinara to the noodles myself and it just wasn't enough for the plate. He was very happy with his plate though. - the bread was too dry with too much flour, we barely touched it which was a shame because that cinnamon honey butter was excellent. read more

Forced valet parking is an unnecessary and annoying money grab. $5 tip to get my keys back and I walked through the parking lot and got my own car. Uninspired menu with run of the mill overpriced cape tourist fare. Undercooked seafood appetizer didn't feel safe to eat. Sent it back and was not charged. Service was slow and inattentive. My friend got up and went to the bar for lemon when the service person took way too long to return. Nice views. Very noisy so conversation was difficult. Yes, it's crowded! No, they don't take reservations unless you have a table of six. But, the food is so worth the wait! You must get the mussels. I think they are some of the best on the Cape! Their soup is fabulous. I haven't even discussed entrees! As far as ambiance, wow! The gardens and marsh are just beautiful to look at. Sit on one of the benches outside and relax. Service was slow and the kitchen is a disaster: with the restaurant half empty it was over 30 min before they served the sandwiches for dinner at 8 PM. Had to complain to the manager, who then delivered the food to the table. Worse, the hamburger and Reuben's were so soggy on the bottom of the bun/bread that we had to flip the burger/sandwiches over in order to hold them. When we complained the manager was nasty and told us that he saw the sandwiches prepared and that they were not soggy, and then he called us liars. He did remove the cost of two sandwiches from the bill, but the experience was so terrible that we will never return, and friends at the resort are now avoiding this place. read more

We went to the marshside for the first visit of the 2024 summer with some friends who were visiting from out of town. Per usual on the cape in summer, our group was less than 6 (must have 6+ for reservations), so we waited in the nice bench and grass area out front. Unfortunately, it was a 45 minute wait, but we ordered drinks at the bar and took them outside. After an hour or so, I checked in to see how much longer - was it worth another round of drinks or not before we ended up at a table? The hostess could not find our name on any list even though we had been given a "buzzer." We were seated right away because they thought someone must have spoken up when our name was called (once again we had a "buzzer"). So, we awkwardly line jumped two groups who were waiting outside next to us and were seated. Service is not always quick here; however, service was exceptionally slow to the point of looking around to find servers or bussers for water, etc. Our waitress was exceptionally kind. The food was above average, but took well over an hour to arrive. We had: Bourbon Chicken Wings (don't recommend). Burrata (yes, recommend) Chicken Frances (yes, recommend) Baked Haddock (yes, recommend) Swordfish Tacos (yes, recommend) Apple Cider Glazed Short Ribs (yes, recommend) Mac & Cheeze with Short River (don't recommend... there was so much cracker crumble on top that I had a plate full of mess by the time I reached Mac). Things to know: it can be a long wait during summer, but historically is managed well by staff to keep things moving. The outside area is nice for drinks while you wait. Valet parking can be hectic, but is necessary given the size of parking lot. Hoping that things revert to normal for the prime of summer. read more

We arrived at the restaurant late at night, so we missed the view. This review is based just off the food and service. We arrived not long before closing and sat at the bar. The interior of the restaurant was very nice. The cocktail list had some great options, and they had plexiglass between us and the bartender so it felt safe. We ordered the mussels, And I highly recommend them. They were delicious and the bread that came on the side was incredible, it tasted homemade. I also had a wedge salad, which was very large and very good. The best part of our experience was the service. The bartender working that night was very attentive and friendly. Even though the restaurant was closing, he told us he would be there for a while and didn't rush us to leave. He also gave great recommendations when we were choosing what to order. read more

A happy accident stumbling upon this place! Beautiful garden out front caught my eye and when our plans fell through we stopped in here for a delicious lunch! We sat on the porch which was awesome, great views of the marsh and nice breeze. Service was great, I ordered the swordfish and it was delicious. Dinner with friends. The Honey and I got to Marshside early because of the "no reservation" policy and did not regret it one bit. Valet parking is helpful. Checked in with the host for a table of five (indoors), got the offered buzzer and stepped over to the bar to get a drink for the expected 35 minute wait. There's a waiting area with comfortable seating for that specific purpose! Brought the (OK) Espresso Martini and the glass of Cabernet to the space and waited. Our friends arrived and we were quickly seated. The restaurant was busy but obviously well managed. I started with a cup of Clam Chowder. Delicious. Lots of clams in a savory broth with potatoes. I followed with the Classic Fish and Chips. Beer battered Haddock with French Fries and Cole Slaw. Another good choice. Tender fish inside a crisp coating, generously portioned and well plated. The ladies chose the Fish Tacos with grilled Swordfish - three sword fish tacos - The Honey would have preferred the dish without the Fresno Peppers - but otherwise delicious. Also generously served. The service was great, helpful, courteous server, the place, although large, was busy but not noisy and the dishes well reasonably priced.
