I have never purchased furniture without first viewing the furniture in the showroom & I was very reluctant..I spoke too David Britton at this location..He was very helpful... I am aware this company will be opening locations in Arizona..The Phoenix Arizona location appeared to be 3 or 4 months out from opening..David followed up with me after my initial conversation with him too inform me that one of the AZ locations will have a soft opening this month..I just want to say the Customer Service I received from David was outstanding. Plummers is great! I loved the store in San Marcos, but it sadly closed down and now this is our favorite furniture store. After scouring all of San Diego and parts of OC and LA I don't think you can do better than Plummers unless you have money to burn. Yeah, you can find nice pieces at Lawrence and SCAN, but you will pay 2-3 times at least for the same quality. I even price shopped the pieces online and Plummers was typically 10-30% less for the exact same item. Again, you have to give Plummers a look if you like modern furniture. There are a couple reasons I like this store: 1) They end up with a lot of the clearance items/floor models so you can find even better bargains. 2) I tend to be pretty annoyed with sales people at furniture stores as most I encounter are pushy (I'm generalizing, I know). Overall, I have a good impression of everybody that works there. You don't need to be shy about going in there and worrying that somebody is going to judge you or pressure you to buy. Big plus for me. We went in there today (Saturday) and they were so busy that actually no one approached us though... In short, you are doing yourself a disservice if you don't check out the Plummers when looking for furniture. read more

My husband and I went to the show room back in July 2020 (6 months ago) and ordered a sofa when they had their 15% off special. Made a deposit and was promised delivery sometime in September. Ok seems reasonable. I got a call at the end of September, not for delivery scheduling, but to inform me that because of Covid, shipment from overseas has been delayed. Ok fine. Kimo was the one who I was working with and said that it's now November. November came and went, got another call in December that it's not coming to their distribution center until Christmas and I will likely get it after the new year. Fine. 12/30/2020, Kimo called to schedule delivery for 1/6/2021. 01/05/2021 I got another call from Kimo asking when to deliver. He had forgotten to actually put it in the system, so now he's going to get manager approval for Saturday 1/9/21 delivery. Friday, 1/8/21, the manager called and said the distribution center loaded the wrong sofa. Long story short, no one can locate the sofa I ordered and corporate is not doing anything about it to compensate their mistakes. I have been super patient, but being a first time customer, this is the WORST experience. The business model and customer service Is absolutely appalling. I will NEVER come back and will never recommend this company to anyone! If you're considering buying from them, don't even bother wasting your time!!! They don't even deserve one star IMO. read more

This place is gorgeous - loved the store layout. You can literally follow the path and take a stroll through furniture land. They have something for every room in your house or business! I definitely see why they encourage customers to come in versus just browse online. I'm participating in the research and design for our law firm renovation and we dropped in to browse and shop great furniture for our lobby/reception area. We met the store manager, Art (nice guy) Who was very helpful, as well as Dave who was also readily available to assist. We found some pretty nice options that we hope to come back and purchase...yay! Prices are pretty reasonable for the quality. This place is sexy and they know it! Had to pick up a coffee table that was on backorder for 6 months vs having them deliver. My salesperson (since left) agreed that delivery for backordered coffee table would be delivered free-of-charge due to other items I had ordered and had taken delivery on previously I ordered all items at same time but coffee table was only item on severe backorder. Well, after the rep left they did not put it in the customer notes that he agreed free delivery. So I had to end up picking up and getting a neighbor help me get it out of my car and up my stairs. Not an ideal situation and I would never have bought the item if I knew I would get screwed in the end. read more

I had to review my experience with Scandinavian Designs and especially Kimo our sales person.We went in looking for a set of recliners after weeks of research and stops at numerous high end furniture stores,Kimo introduced himself as we entered and showed us around to there different options, we were very particular with the style we were looking for,Kimo showed us this brand called Stressless(I need to write a whole review on these because there amazing)He explained the construction and craftsmanship of the chairs and gave us our space to look around the store and sit in all the chairs and of course the Stressless about 10 times,When we decided to seriously purchase these chairs Kimo did a great job researching when we could(really)receive the chairs.They are made I believe in Norway and we were made aware from Kimo and another furniture store I wont mention that delivery could take from 12-20 weeks depending on availability being shipped from Norway.So because we chose 2 Stressless Black Wing Chairs he believed they may have them in the warehouse in NJ and if so we should have them in 8-10 weeks.We really wanted to be assured that we could receive these in 8-10 weeks and not 12-20 weeks and Kimo did his research to assure us they had them there.So we gave our deposit and as promised they showed up at our house in 6 weeks!!!!!!!!Awsome!!!!!!And now for the best part,I for the heck of it just did a search of our chairs and they had(Stressless)put them on sale for the month of Mar which Kimo and all other stores they almost never do.So we stopped by the store to look at there rugs and I brought this to Kimo's attention and he immediately researched this and called me the next day to confirm they were refunding us a considerable amount of money, no questions asked!We were sooooo happy!!!!I was really expecting either a partial store credit, maybe refund of 1 chairs, maybe they couldn't do anyhing,We did not have a hi expectation,I mean the reality was is that at the time we bought them they were doing a Leather upgrade worth $100 per chair which we were very happy with so to have them honor the current incentive was really great,THIS IS HOW YOU DO BUSINESS!!!!!!!!!!We own a High End Salon in La Jolla,Ca and we talk to clients all day and I tell all of them how much we lovvvvveeee our new chairs and if there in the market for the most comfortable chairs in the world or any other Top Quality Furniture they MUST go see Kimo at Scandinavian Designs,THANK YOU KIMO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

The quality is pretty nice as well. We purchased a beautiful and practical desk for under $300. It's very sturdy and helps me stay organized and productive. In addition, the sales staff is low pressure and very helpful at guiding your purchasing decisions. Kevin, in particular was very patient, kind and knowledgeable. Plummers is now known as Scandinavian Design. It's located in the back of a large shopping complex. The store is large and has a great selection of living room, bedroom, dining room and library furniture. Their style is modern, simple and contemporary. It is similar to IKEA in taste but better quality. I can't say it's my favorite furniture store because their merchandise is overpriced (hefty shipping and assembly fee too) and the company does not care about customer service. We bought multiple items (over $5,000) and our representative said they could not give us a discount or provide complimentary shipping. Their items are beautiful and I would have come back to buy more but they don't seem to care about customer satisfaction or retaining their customers. No wonder the store is often empty.... At the end of the day, I would rather go to a store that has discounts and appreciates customers for their business. read more

I placed an order over the phone for 2 Gemmel tall bookcases with doors. I was warned that it might take a while for the shipment to arrive. Fortunately, they came in less time than was expected. I purchased a sectional couch from the Miramar store over 4th of July weekend. The delivery time was great however the couch was delivered defective. The delivery guys took photos and had a repair ticket created, I was told that I would be called a few days later. I wasn't. When I called they told me the parts would be a few weeks out. A few weeks later I called to find that the parts were a few more weeks out and they would call when they arrive. They didn't. I called and was told that the parts had arrived in the warehouse and that someone would call me to schedule the licensed repair in a few days. They didn't. You get the picture. 3 store visits and 6 phone calls later, my couch is just as defective as the day it was delivered and there is no repair date. I tried to return the couch and get a refund twice, once by phone and once in person, somehow each time the only person that could process such a request was "not working until tomorrow". They weren't. Long story short, this could have been a great experience and Scandinavian Designs would have a very satisfied, and likely repeat customer on their hands. The potential for a good experience is there, just hope that what you order arrives as intended. read more

I spent several months researching leather sofas. The sectional I had bought before this couch and love seat combo was something called bonded leather and the whole thing peeled. I finally found some beautiful leather sofas at Plummer's (which is now Scandinavian designs.) I ended up spending close to $4000 for a sofa and loveseat. I have had them four years now. Every time I look at them I want to scream because they look terrible. The leather started peeling at a little more than a years worth of use and underneath is this bright red plastic looking stuff. I took out all my paperwork and the only thing they warranty was the structure of the couch not the fabric and it's my word against theirs that they told me it was leather and not bonded. I would never shop there again and I would never recommend anyone I know shop there so buyer beware. I got bonded leather that they passed off as high quality leather and my $4000 sofa and loveseat within less than two years looked terrible. read more

After many hours of online searching I found products here that met my needs which I couldn't find elsewhere. The media cabinet was wide enough for my Scrabble box at 18 inches. I have been shopping at Scandinavian Designs (SD) for 10 years. 90% of the furniture and art in the house I have purchased from SD. Note that I started with a vacant house, so the number of purchases is very large. I have always been able to find what I need at SD. On the few occasions when the merchandise turned out to be below par SD made the necessary repairs or replaced the item in question. I find the sales people to be very knowledgeable and helpful. The icing on the cake is that the store layout is great and always fun to go around the store and browse. If you like contemporary furniture, it is the place to shop in, since the selection is good and the prices reasonable. read more
