We happened into the Mattress Firm and met with Manny. He definitely knows his business and cut right through to the chase. I was delivered a defective mattress. It took 5 delivery attempts in order to get a non-defective mattress. The delivery people treat you like garbage and show up hours outside of their time window. All of this is a-okay with Mattress Firm. You will request different delivery people, but you will get the same ones over and over again. They will also drag your mattress unwrapped directly across the floor. My sales person was nothing to write home about. She complained the entire time about how she was tired, how it was past closing time when we were filling out the paperwork and kept making mistakes. I almost got up and left. I should have. I purchased a mattress at the Oceanside location previously and never had an issue. The regional manager gave me a credit that I literally had to argue for. It did not make up for my time that was wasted or the disrespect from the delivery people. read more

The Mattress Firm warranty is a joke. My advice, based on my personal experience, is to understand that there is no functional warranty supporting the customer, you are effectively buying "as-is". So tired of this kind of BS! I would guess that 99% of Mattress Firm consumer warranty requests are denied, after the buyer is forced to jump through multiple hoops of a surprisingly long list of specifications you must have met to comply to their warranty requirements. Wrong box spring! Warranty void! Except, of course, it's the box spring that you bought from them. There's a byzantine list of multiple factors they select from to deny you. What are you going to do, take them to court over a mattress? Great way to spend your time. You get the picture. Never going back to Mattress Firm. For my wife and I, they were a waste of both our time and our money. read more

My 83 year old mom purchased a mattress that she ended up not loving. We returned it for another and it still didn't meet her needs. The manager Amy was super kind and helped my mom in finding a third option which she now enjoys. Thank you Amy for your kindness and patience! read more

Very helpful and low pressure! We went to the Encinitas East store first but they recommended a few options they didn't have there, so they checked with the West store (across the street) and they had others for us to try. We met with Bo who was very low pressure. We weren't sure the size we wanted and had to come back. He didn't try to push us to 'buy now' or try to upsell us. Very refreshing. I called later with a few additional questions and he was very helpful. We ended up buying a Stearns & Foster. Bo gave us a $300 credit which was used for mattress & box spring protectors and the delivery fee. Tony and Jesus delivered everything the next day and even put the protectors on for us. The whole experience was great from start to finish. Highly recommended! read more

Luke is Stellar! I can't say enough great things about him. He is a real pro. My Husband and I were "just looking" at mattresses one weekend trying to decide if we really wanted to a new 'Mattress - perhaps even an adjustable one. After spending quite a bit of time with Luke - he spent a lot of time with us looking at all the different models and options - we did end up with a new adjustable mattress that we are very happy with. I did have to have Mattress Firm cone back once to adjust the height of the bed - it was as easy as could be to take care of that - the whole process from start to finish has been amazing. I highly recommend Mattress Firm in Encinitas - and ask for Luke! read more

Came into the store looking for a reasonably priced yet comfortable mattress for our guest room. Juli provided a number of choices with analysis of each one. She let me try them a couple of times to compare. It will be delivered and set up on Tuesday. Couldn't have been easier! read more

I'd never bought a mattress before other than online so I wanted to try some out in store and get help from a knowledgeable salesperson. Manny delivered outstanding customer service throughout my visit, asked thoughtful questions and didn't seem at all annoyed when what I'd said I wanted in the beginning didn't end up being what I chose. He also assisted me with finding a frame, signing up for financing, and scheduling delivery. I had a ton of questions, he patiently answered them all. Making a big purchase can be overwhelming and stressful but when I left this store I felt confident and excited about getting my new bed! One week later and I just got everything set up. Frame was easy to assemble and the delivery included pickup of my old mattress. Very happy with my purchase, thank you so much! read more

Well today was our day to go bed shopping and boy did we score! I haven't been this excited buying something in a long while...David our salesman was super knowledgeable asking us all the right questions to fit our needs perfectly, he gave us a great peace of mind to know we had made the correct selection on our new purchases...David was not a hard pushy salesman but the opposite and did such a wonderful job my girlfriend also pulled trigger with the same purchase as me other than her pillow selection...oh and also, coupons & Black Friday discount was applied platinum service all the way !!! My wife and I were looking for a mattress and we decided to try some out. I'm a big deal guy, and David Jackson really helped find us something that worked. He found us a nicer mattress than we were looking for at a better price than we were expecting. They delivered the mattress and there was an issue in the warehouse, so it was not the mattress we were expecting. David jumped on it so fast and had the right mattress the next day delivered and switched!!! Great help. Thanks again David! read more

Candy was so helpful in picking out the perfect mattress!! She asked all the right questions and gave me the best options within my price range. The customer service by Dave Shattuck was above and beyond. My wife and I were having literal panic attacks thinking about mattress shopping and Dave made the process a seemless experience, we really enjoyed talking to someone who treated us like family and had our back. We had a problem with our initial purchase and he rectified the problem swapping us to a firmer mattress for my wife the next day. I've recommended all of our friends to this location after the terrible experience we had with our Ortho Mattress fiver years ago. You have a customer for life. read more

We unfortunately, had to exchange my MIL's mattress out because the pillow top mattress that she SWORE she wanted, ended up being too soft for her. (sigh) They have a 90 day guarantee so we went in to see what her options were, sans MIL. My husband and I both agreed the firmer, the better--and without a pillow top. We were directed to the firmer beds within the same brand we originally purchased and selected one from the line up. Unfortunately, it had a higher price tag ($500 more) so all the savings we made in our originally purchase was LOST but we are happy to report that my MIL really likes her new bed and she hasn't been complaining....as much, anyway. The 90 day guarantee really helped in our situation. My MIL is older and has a hard time getting out of the house to try the beds, so it worked out for us. The swap out was quick and painless. My only recommendation for Sleep Train is to provide their delivery crew with booties so when they enter into customers homes, they don't bring in the elements. They do put a floor mat down but if they're going to go that extra step, why not wear booties? Still, Sleep Train really was a great choice for us and we were overall, VERY pleased with the hassle-free service. NOTE: the guarantee is only good for a 1 time swap so you can't try mattress after mattress until you find the one you want. I think this is good rule for them to have so peeps don't abuse the system. read more

Our mattress is 10 years old and my husband is over it. To keep my hubby from permanently sleeping on our comfy couch and my marriage alive I had to break down and buy a new mattress. Oh and we also need to reclaim our bedroom from our fat incontinent cat which is another (gross) reason to purchase a new mattress. We went to Sleep Train because they are actively promoted on the DSC. I like Dave, Shelly and Chainsaw and feel like I almost know them so I decided to trust their judgment. Glad I did. We walked in at 10 and walked out at 10:30 with a new mattress that we could have actually had delivered to our home today. But we needed to get our crap and our cats crap together before delivery. So it's being delivered on Monday. Gabe was a nice non pressure salesman. My husband said he had a bad back and a even worse wallet. We were steered in the direction of choices that would work for us. A lot of my paycheck may be gone but can you really put a price on a great nights sleep? Nope you can't. Sleep Train will meet any sales price from their competitors and offer a 100 day guarantee. So if we hate it, or it doesn't feel like the right mattress for us we can return for refund. So I definitely won't be losing sleep. read more

Wow! You're nutz if you don't buy your mattress here! A chronic pain patient is not an easy customer. Thank you John and Dave for your patience and for helping me find just the right mattress for my fibromyalgia. I did not think it was possible for me to ever have a good night's sleep again. Thank God I didn't do the online bed in a box thing or Costco. Just go the the store and lie down on a few. Thanks again guys!! read more

Sleep Train . . . What the heck is a sleep train? An engine pulling a series of Pullman sleeper cars? A train made of mattresses? A code name for a ménage a tois? I've been so confused by this name during my ten years in San Diego but I decided to go there for a new mattress and box spring. The verdict: This is absolutely the place to go when you need a new mattress. The staff is trained to help you find a mattress that is comfy for you. They ask you a variety of questions so you only need to lay on about six mattresses rather than 25. Also, they can explain the range of beds from firm to super pillow top. Goldilocks would love this place. Sleep Train delivered my new California King mattress and box spring and did an excellent job navigating the corners of my small house. The delivery team was very professional, just like the staff at the store. I'm not totally sure I love my bed but that's ok because I have 90 days to figure it out. read more

We bought a mattress for our 4 year old's big boy bed at Sleep Train in Encinitas. They had something at every price point, and the salesperson struck us as helpful and honest. Mattress salespeople, like car salesmen, often get a bad rap, so this is high praise. When my wife was paying at the register - we had already decided to purchase - the salesperson noted that someone else had previously price-matched our mattress so they were able to take off another $50. That came right out of the store's pocket so it demonstrated some impressive customer commitment. The mattress we chose was on clearance, which also helped lower the price. We think we got a good deal on the mattress, but there is so little transparency in this business that we don't really know. At the end of the day we were pleased with our experience at this Sleep Train. All aboard! read more

I walked in yesterday to find a new mattress for a bed frame that was enroute. The place was super clean and organized. Manny greeted me and was super efficient, interactive, and showed me all the types of levels of beds I needed. He helped me budget and did not pressure me at all to buy expensive beds that I couldn't afford. I wish a lot of sales person was attentive and aimed to help customers like Manuel! I'd preferred medium to firm mattresses and to my discovery he said I needed a level for my side-sleeping to support my neck, back, and hips. For a long time I have horrible shoulder blade, neck and back aches but when I layed on their Sleepy brand memory foam mattress (he helped picked it because it was similar to the brand Nectar) and my goodness it felt amazing! He was so helpful and made it easy. He showed me the steps on paper. He even moved my pillow around for me, he is funny and very pleasant! He reviewed and assured me of the delivery process ans expected phone call. The delivery came right on time in the two hour window, it actually beat arrived first before my bedframe! They deliver it to the door, it makes me feel happy that they understand product from sales floor to in the bedroom is so important to the customers. You guys are doing great! All I had to do was let the memory foam mattress air up for a couple hours but suggested 48 hours. I am not kidding but am laying on it right now and I am so excited for it to be almost finished! Crossing my fingers that bad back from working hospitality and sleeping on too firm of a mattress will ease because of Manny and all the steps he guided me through the store with ease and helped me get a student discount on the box too! Thank so much! I hope you keep moving up theand go far. read more

David and Monica were extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and patient with my mattress purchase. Great experience! Thank you for your help!

From the first day I visited the store until recently, my experience was terrific. I literally spent almost one hour trying different mattresses with absolutely NO sales pressure. Recently, I had to go back because there was a fault in the mattress and the manager, John, was unreservably helpful and patien, and offered to replace my original mattress without any conditions. I would recommend this store and especially, John. to anyone who wants to buy the best mattress for themselves. The sales staff is very knowledgable!! read more

Our experience of purchasing a mattress at this store could not have been more pleasant. From the beginning, everyone was kind and welcoming, everything was sanitized and everyone was wearing masks. (assuming this listing is for Sleep Train) I can't say enough good things about the experience we had here. David helped us out with our new mattress and we couldn't be happier with it. He asked all the right questions to lead us to the mattress that was right for us and that was in our price range. Not only did he price match a new model to our budget, we got it delivered and set up flawlessly on the same day! A lot of Hoosier hospitality shown here :). Thank you! read more

You've heard the radio ads and even though they make the process sound painless, that's marketing right? Well I'm happy to report that Sleep Train's reputation is the real deal. I write this review as I jump on my newly purchased mattresses. Which is harder to do than it sounds ;) Ken the manager happened to be our salesman, and he was a peach I tell ya. First off, the BF hates shopping in general and REALLY hates shopping for big ticket items. Can you image trying to sell to a 6"10" 300 lb deadpan shopper who isn't easily amused?? Yeah, daunting... and he was hangry (that's when you're hungry and it makes you angry) Whew! Ken did a fabulous job, he was likeable and not obnoxious-we did a processes where we found an "anchor bed" that we really liked and compared it to all other similar models. We decided on one and Ken let us know that if we didn't mind, he could search for a clearance option. Same exact mattress but maybe was returned. He explained that if people don't like the one they get they can exchange it within 90 days. Those sold mattresses that come back go through a crazy sanitation process and are good as new. So yeah, please do! We ended up saving about 400$! The delivery process was painless, as is now my lower back. They removed our old bed and delivered our new one on time and super quick-on a Sunday during a holiday weekend even! Awesome. You spend a 1/3 of your life in bed peeps, and yes, it was $$-But if you're gonna spend the money? I suggest you talk to Ken! read more

My guess would be that most people enjoy shopping for a new mattress about as much as they enjoy going to the dentist or looking for a used car. This was my first time purchasing a new bed, and it was a much more painless experience than either of these. I'm the sort of person who thinks I can always outsmart the system, so I did scads of research and figured I would go into a few mattress stores to test the beds but end up purchasing online. This Sleep Train (which I had thought of as the Walmart of mattress stores) was the first store I stopped in, and am I sure glad it was. I worked with the manager, Brittany, who listened when I said I was uninterested in Tempurpedic, wanted something firm and cool. She did not urge me towards high-priced beds or make any assumptions about me, was patient and even chatted with me at length about my recent move and new job. When I came back a week later with my partner she treated us both with respect, gave us space and time and continued to steer us towards appropriate beds based on both our needs. Much to my surprise, I believed her when she said Sleep Train cared about our sleep wellness for as long as we were their customer (and with a 20-year warranty, we are going to be members of the Sleep Train family for a long time). When we finally chose the bed we liked best, I was prepared to get on my iPhone and start price hunting, but no need. Brittany used the store computer to find us the lowest available price (on a site we asked her to check) and not only honored their 10% off coupon, but beat it by 5% as per Sleep Train's price guarantee. She also threw in a free mattress protector and 40% off sheets - and even drove to the next closest store (while we waited) to pick up the exact color and style we wanted. Michael and the rest of the staff were incredibly helpful as well - we left satisfied and felt that the entire transaction was transparent without a hint of salesmanship or deceit. Just good, honest people doing a great job of selling mattresses. I recommend this store to everyone - save yourself the trouble and visit Sleep Train first. You won't be sorry. read more

I've had an awesome experience shopping at Sleep Train. While all of the employees seem helpful, I worked with Martin and he is very down to earth and worked with me to find exactly what mattress would fit me best. I spent at least two hours trying different beds and being generally indecisive about such a major purchase, and he was patient and super helpful. I came there with a friend (I thought I would be in and out of the store pretty quickly... whoops) and Martin fit in with us as we goofed around and put no pressure to speed us up. I should also mention Michael was very helpful too, he has a tempurpedic at home and I had many questions about them regarding the negatives I've read online. Tempurpedics are price-locked, but they bent over backwards to ensure that I could have my bed delivered in my tight timeframe. I wanted to buy the floor model but the new models were out of stock and I'd have to wait for a new one to arrive and replace the one I was buying. That should have taken a week plus. The problem was a friend was visiting in a few days and all I had in my room was a hammock to sleep on. They arranged special deliveries so that it could arrive just in time (that took multiple phone calls and manager approvals). A day or two later, now I decided I'd rather get the new bed (and the 100 day comfort guarantee) and it was no issue switching that over and getting the new one delivered that evening. It's a couple weeks later and now I'm loving my bed (Tempurpedic Contour Select). My final positive experience came today when I decided I didn't like the mattress protector I bought with the bed. Who takes back used mattress protectors? They did, and I exchanged it for another nice pillow although I could have gotten a refund for it if that's what I wanted. I've always thought I should sign up and start a yelp account and this interaction is what finally pushed me over to do it. read more

Ken was the sales person who helped us find our bed. What I liked was that he wasn't interested in selling us the most expensive bed but the one that worked best for us. Which for us was the middle price range Beautyrest mattress. Same thing for the base. He showed us all price ranges but did not pressure us into a the most expensive line. Gave us all the info about them and we picked the one right for us. It is being delivered tomorrow and I can't wait to get it set up and have a great nights sleep. This is your one-stop shop for mattresses if you're in the market. We made the mistake of going to another store down the street and the other place was dirty. We thought we were getting good service there until we decided to check out sleep train. We were shocked by how much better the service was. Nathan helped us out and was awesome! He was very knowledgable and was honest. He really helped us to narrow it down to the mattress and pillows that were just right for us. One of the best parts was how quickly they were able to deliver! The other store said after purchase it'll take 4 days or so before it can be delivered. That just didn't work for our schedule as we were getting rid of our current mattress and wouldn't have anywhere to sleep! We needed our new replacement ASAP and sleep train made it happen. They can even do same-day delivery! We could've done that if we had gone in earlier in that day but we were still able to have our mattress delivered the next day. So in the store one day and sleeping on what we bought the next. That's how it should be. Great service, clean store, and quick delivery! We'll definitely be going back here for our next mattress in the future. read more

I would give this place ZERO stars if I could. I was shopping for an inexpensive twin mattress on 8/8/14 at 4PM and went to Sleep Train as I am a longtime customer. I was shopping for my grandmother who is "trying out" assisted living and is highly likely to return to her home (and much larger bed). As a result, it didn't feel prudent to use her funds to buy an expensive mattress. When I asked if they had anything less expensive than the +$700 twin sets, the awful sales guy insulted me and accused me of being cheap on grandma. If it was legal, I would have slapped him. Rude sales guy then suggested I go across the street to Mattress Discounters where crappy mattresses in my price range were sold. I went to Mattress Discounters and was treated with respect as a valued customer and purchased a $400 set that is perfect for our needs. In the past, I have always been a Sleep Train customer and valued the company's commitment to helping foster children, but I will never EVER buy a mattress from them again. read more

I really appreciated the manager's flexibility and willingness to work with us after some initial miscommunication about their free frame promotion, listed here on Yelp. It's easy to find a store that will give you good customer service initially, but true colors shine through when there is a problem to be resolved after the money has been spent, and I am very impressed with how this manager handled the issue. Also, our sales rep Brandon was great. He listened to our needs, didn't try to push us beyond our price range, and found the best discounts he could when we asked. Highly recommended! read more
