BEWARE! They do not return online orders of any bedding items including un opened pillows!!! I spent over 200 dollars on a pillow that was described completely differently from what I received. It was thin and not heavy and thick which is critical to the support of my neck. I ordered another one that is described as thicker without realizing they will not return any of them even with the plastic wrap completely intact on them! How can anyone know from a decription if the pillow is right? I have serous neck and back pain and needed help. This is totally a rip off that a fully sealed unopened pillow cannot be returned for a thicker pillow. I would never buy from them again for this reason. read more

What an amazing customer experience I had today!! I have an emergency need to lower my beloved Tempurpedic bed frame. I did not purchase my mattress from Relax the Back in Encinitas, but any mattress I purchase in the future will be from this store and I will always ask for Churck. I am having major back surgery in a week and a half. While I have a list of what seems like hundreds of items to purchase and home modifications to make, no one addressed bed height. I love my tall bed, but it is not what will work when recovering from back surgery. I called and Chuck answered. I wasn't even sure if I had the option to schedule a service call. I told Chuck my story. Ten minutes later he called me back and has a team coming out in five days! Just in time for my surgery. He was exceptionally professional, efficient, understanding and kind. Having neck pain I was in need of a good pillow. I read about Technogel side sleeper pillow which comes in three sizes and is shaped like a butterfly. The Sunday salesperson was aloof and somehow I walked out of the store with a back sleeper pillow with middle section lower than sides. Not good for a side sleeper. I returned today and Chuck, the owner was there. He instantly saw the issue and fitted me for the correct Technogel lab side sleeper pillow. We were the only people in the store, and the rep did not greet us, when we asked for help on the various choices we were advised to read the box, which we could not reach. As it became painfully obvious we would receive no assistance we left. Doubt we will ever return. read more

Sorry to blemish their perfect record of reviews, but I have to say something here! I was visiting with my wife's 88 yo aunt, traveling here from New York. She was in excruciating neck pain (due to apparent severe osteoarthritis). I am a Chiropractor, and I knew the only way to get her some bit of relief was to find her a cervical decompression device. I dispense these to patients in my own office. I called this Relax the Back store I found on Google search. The guy who answered (Neal) told me he had such a device. My wife and I, and the 2 aunts took the 15 mile drive to the store. (let me preface my comments here by saying I have worked with patients and customers for 30 plus years, CUSTOMER SERVICE is vital to any business). The guy Neal retrieves the device, hands it to me and walks away. Could not have been more nonchalant or non-caring. I had never seen this particular type of device, was a bit of a challenge to figure out the fitting and settings, and he could see I was sorta struggling with it at first. Did not say a word, retreated behind the desk and seemingly could not give a damm about helping us out. Just absolute apathy for what I am hearing he is the manager in this store. We purchased the device, but all of us walked out, shaking our heads about the the worst customer service!! This is a nice store, but I could not recommend this based on the this crucial factor! I purchased an ergonomic Lifeform chair and a footrest through Tom at the Encinitas, CA Relax the Back store while on vacation in September 2016. I wasn't aware there were stores in my state, but Tom assured me he could get me in to the chair I wanted and have it delivered to me in AZ since the chair would be specially made in my choice of fabric and shipped from Canada. When my chair arrived ahead of schedule, a caster had broken off inside it's protective packaging during shipping so I was not able to put the chair together. I contacted Tom and he arranged for additional casters to be sent to me, which I received in short order. I hesitated to call again, but I had difficulty getting the coaster into the base as the chair was heavy and difficult to maneuver and keep still in order to press the caster into the hole, so Tom arranged for my local store in Scottsdale, AZ, to come out to my house and help me get my chair put together. Not only did Dave Purves, the owner of 3 stores in AZ, come to my home to put my chair together, he also adjusted my chair to perfection and trained me how to properly sit it in and use all the bells and whistle of the Cadillac of ergonomic chairs I had purchased. When he left, he also took all the shipping boxes with him so I didn't have to cut them up to put in the city recycle bin. I am beside myself with this customer service and will most certainly do business with Relax The Back stores in the future. The chair feels like heaven to sit in and I no longer suffer miserably from all the pressure points causing me pain. It was well worth every hard earned dollar I spent on it. read more

I was looking for a comfortable office chair that I could sit in for hours. I make jewelry, as well as computer work, so I'm sitting a lot. I ended up with the Lifeform Contour Task chair. It has a lot of adjustments, plus a lot of cushion and back support. Julie Wallace was my Sales rep and was very patient and not pushy. I didn't feel any sales pressure, which means a lot to me. They definitely deserve 5 stars and more if they were available. I made my first purchase approximately 6 months ago, and I just recently purchased a Christmas gift for my daughter. Both times I was immediately greeted as I walked into the store, asked if I needed help, then given space to explore all they have available. When I asked for assistance I was provided with caring, honest information. After I made my purchase, I was directed to a massage chair to wait while my gift was gift wrapped. WOW! Julie was a fantastic help to me on my first visit to the store. I have a genetic disorder that causes pain and damage to most of my joints and muscles, so I was interested in products in almost every category there. I originally stopped in to look at only one specific chair, but because the store was a little slower that night, Julie was able (and patient enough) to explain and demonstrate products to me for nearly four hours, and I walked away with an armful of gear and the intent of returning to buy larger furniture and more gadgets on my next visit to this location. I think my visit was about 2 to 3 months ago, and I can now say that every product that she recommended and that I purchased have helped me out tremendously. There are four or five items that I now actually use on a daily basis and I can't imagine my life without them anymore, as they provide so much pain relief for me. I had a huge massage chair and had to move it to a new location. I paid in advance, the day came to move and Relax the Back sent out two men who knew how to disassemble the chair, moved it and reassembled it without any damage or fuss.
