    The rude worker out front

The rudest workers and staff I have ever encountered. They even brought a knife outside when I accidentally parked in their area and I was terrified as a young woman by myself.

Old school Tex-mex... This is classic Austin Texas-mex, the interior is pretty much what it used to be back when, as is the menu, and quite probably the prices too. Nothing that'll blow you away, but all happily satisfying.

Margarito deservedly proud of his Pastor tacos!

Our favorite Mexican spot in the neighborhood. Excellent food and Margarito's is one of the few places that is still fully kicking the old South Austin vibe. We frequent this place and love how many other regulars we get to see with every visit. One of the best molé's in town and the pipan sauce on a classic cheese relleño is to die for! Pair any of the dishes with the "Pink Cadillac" top shelf rita and you will be in heaven. Here we are always enjoying a great meal with family. Our Sazón familia! :-)

I had the conchinita pibil with rice and beans, it was good and came out fast. Homemade corn tortilla were a plus. Patio seating with fans and shade helped with the warm temperature outside. Fast service and good food, Worth another visit to try something else on the menu.

Best Mexican restaurant in town! My girlfriend and I haven't had anything on the menu we don't love and their hidden gem is their coconut margarita. It's amazing

    Beef medallions

We walked in around 6:30 and it was completely empty, no waitress or hostess to be found - we thought it was closed. The waitress popped out from the back and got us started with chips and a delightfully spicy salsa. Everyone enjoyed their drinks and food, including the best dish (lucky me), beef medallions. Every bit of it was a surprise including the garlicky rice with bacon sprinkled on top. It was ridiculously priced at around $14. I don't know how they stay in business with such low prices but I will come back. Note: it's a little divey but in a good way. More for a casual dinner than a date.

I've driven by El Alma many times being in the Austin area, but I never went until last Thursday, and after surviving a brief monsoon, I was glad to get a few drinks and eat some good TexMex with my large party just before a wedding. The best way to describe El Alma is that it is TexMex that is Austinified. Everything feels a little more unique and special than your classic TexMex options. I started off with a Mezcal Margarita that put a little hair on my chest and got me going. My group ordered two of their Nachitos, which were these nice nachos. For my main entrée, I got 3 Al Pastor tacos on corn with a side of their rice and beans. Their pastor was served with pineapples, onions, and cilantro with limes on the side. They were great and I immediately crushed them all. I thought their rice and beans were pretty good as well and a step above the typical TexMex rice and beans. The server was pretty attentive throughout our whole visit, and I honestly have no complaints about what they had to offer. Pricing on the meal and drinks was pretty standard for Austin, and I didn't think anything really took me out of the experience. On top of that, for being in Barton Springs, there is quite a bit of parking. I would love to come back at some point in the future and hang out on their rooftop bar because that seems like a lot of fun. Shoutout to El Alma for being a TexMex oasis saving me from the MoPac traffic. RIYL: TexMex, but better than your average

Arriba Abajo as you walked in just gave me all the vibes of a happening place when you want to hang out with friends and have a great time. We ordered the braised ribs rolled tacos for appetizers. For lunch I ordered the Carneasada Fajitas with chimichurri and my husband ordered the Carneasada Taqueria. With my fajitas came a side of frijoles, green rice & flour tortillas. Corn flour was the other option. Both meals came in pipin' hot & the smell coming from both was very aromatic, zesty & spice. Amazing taste, flavors, just the right amount of marinade on the Carneasada with a hint of lime. It was so delicious while enjoying the ambiance.
