I reviewed this restaurant a few years ago and whatever I said pales in comparison with what the new administration has done to create and improve their dishes and recipes. This place has become a unique venue to enjoy peruvian food. Their dishes are exquisite, well prepared, the service is excellent and my favorite: all their fish are cooked to perfection. Lastly, do not miss their Passion Fruit cheesecake. Ambiance is great, the place is very clean and the prices reasonable. Do NOT miss the opportunity to try this great establishment.

It's been several years since my last visit but the overall experience picked up close to how I remembered. I'll dispense with the unpleasantries first: upon arrival, hostess station was unmanned: after several minutes, had to flag down a waiter to be seated. And despite having reservations, after being seated for quite some time, no wait service was initiated. Once again had to flag down a waiter and ask that we get service, have drink order taken. After an apology for the oversight, things improved. Our assigned server was friendly and patient with my guests many questions and order changes. Drinks and the complimentary toasted corn kernels were promptly served. Due to the entrees ordered, our server returned and updated us it would take longer to prepare our orders. But in the end, the meals were worth the wait. I enjoyed the Chaufa that had large shrimp, large chunks of chicken breast and beef. The presentation of the whole fried snapper is spectacular and really impressed my dining partners who ordered that entree. The churrasco was not the typical long strip of meat, seemed like a half portion. The portions of all the other entrees were bountiful so to-go boxes for leftovers are a must. Our server was very gracious and accomodated with a smile the number of additional requests from my dining party. The ambiance is wonderful and dining in the semi private room was a very special touch.

Authentic Peruvian food with great service! This restaurant is in the heart of Tamarac where there aren't many options to begin with that's what makes it even better... it's in my neck of the woods. The service is excellent. My waitress last night was very pleasant and friendly. She also happen to be cute with a heavy Latin accent which made the experience even more authentic. She gave great recommendations on drinks and entrees. I enjoyed everything she recommended. For appetizers, I started with the shrimp causas and mixed seafood ceviche. The shrimp causas is like a potato salad with shrimp. The shrimp is a cold shrimp mixed with a dressing similar to thousand island and wedged in between mashed potato. Absolutely freaking delicious! For dinner entrees, we ordered fried seafood platter and tacu tacu lomo saltado. The seafood platter was fried to perfection. Calamari, mussels, fish, and shrimp fried tender, and served with a side of tartar sauce. The tacu tacu lomo saltado is white rice and white bean mixed together then pan fried and served with a side of sauteed vegetables and tender cubed beef. Everything was amazing. From the presentation to the authenticity of flavor. I thoroughly enjoyed my dish. In the past I have tried the beef heart, fried fish, and other seafood dishes and the consistency of flavor is always good. As far as the adult drinks, the pisco sour passionfruit flavor is good. For the first time last night I tried the algarrobina and chicha. The algarrobina is similar to a spiked egg nog or coquito, and the chicha is a drink made from purple corn. Amazing flavor! If your looking for authentic Peruvian food and a great local spot... this is it!

Saxsay Peruvian in Tamarac. We hadn't been in a very long time; I'm going to say at least five years. We ordered a leche de tigre, a sopa de pollo, a camarones a la piedra. And two pisco sours, one classic and one passion fruit. Ceviche was very good, very spicy, excellent as a small appetizer. We did not like the chicken soup and sent it back. It was clearly made with a commercial base and not a house made bone broth. They don't have much chicken on the menu and what they do have is breast, so I can understand not wanting to go all that effort to source bones just for soup -- so don't serve it. They have a lot of other soups on the menu made with seafood that they are known for. The camarones a la piedra was very good, nice and spicy, although heavy onion content with no other veg other than yuca. Was my first time trying this dish so not sure if that was the style, I think most other people would want to eat this over rice. Pisco sours were very good and strong.

I had a craving for grilled octopus and this place seemed to have a great one, according to the Yelp reviews I read and pictures I saw. It is located in a small shopping plaza with not much going on in Commercial blvd. It is deceptively big and nice inside. We were seated right away and brought menus. I noticed they had two different kind's of octopus Al Olivo in the appetizers and grilled in the entree section. We got grilled. For $23 you get a good portion. Unfortunately the texture was not great. In fact it was so gooey. I have a bit of a fobia with gooey food, I could not eat it, hubby had no problem with it, the flavor was there, it was just the texture I didn't like. I ordered fish ceviche instead and it was very good. Both hubby and son got Churrasco and they loved it. Service was good, I would cone back, not for octopus though.

Best Peruvian food in broward! If you like ceviche, it's a must! I go here like 3 times a month for my ceviche cravings. Friendly staff with great dessert options as well! The Aji de gallina never disappoints! ------------------------------------------ Update: even during quarantine you can't keep me away, best ceviche in broward!

Excellent service and the food and beverages were amazingly delicious. The mojito de maracuya was perfect.

I ordered arroz chaufa de pollo .. so upset .. I did not like at all .. the chicken I think was out of a soup and fried and the rice was from days ago

I had a meeting in Tamarac yesterday afternoon and decided to have some dinner in the area before fighting rush hour traffic to Boca. I ended up at Saxsay Cafe after perusing a list of nearby restaurants & chose this one because I really enjoy Peruvian food. The staff are warm & welcoming. I ordered a few items. To start, the mint lemonade was awesome; very fresh & refreshing. My server brought me some warm canchas to nibble on. I honestly don't think that I've ever had been served them warm at any other Peruvian restaurant before; I've always had them at room temperature. This was an exceptional treat. I also ordered a Ceviche mixto and this was probably the best Ceviche I have ever had. I got to sample a variety of the causas and while I applaud them on their originality & plating, they fell a little short on taste to me. Anyone who knows me knows that I don't mind traveling for good food so any of you foodies out there who may live outside of Tamarac who may be reading this...this is a place that you should definitely check out, it's worth the drive. Trust me, You will thank me! The lack of one star was due to the furniture. The upholstery needs to be replaced in the booth I was seated at.

Shamara D.

Really enjoyed my experience at this restaurant. Very quiet, unassuming and relaxing. Kind staff and great service. Enjoyed a fish dinner and tripe dinner and can't wait to go back to enjoy some other seafood dishes which is their specialty.

Prudence H.

This was my first time eating here. I think the waiter was tired of me not being able to make up my mind on what to order. LOL The menu has great items to choose from which made it a hard decision. My husband had the pesto spaghetti with steak and I had the fish covered with seafood sauce (sorry forgot the actual names). I also had the fish ceviche cocktail which was very good! All I can say is that I will be back the next time I'm in Fort Lauderale.

The restaurant is very nicely decorated and modern. We celebrated our friend's birthday dinner and everyone loved their food. I shared the Huancaina fettuccine and the Teriyaki Entraña Sushi roll. Both were phenomenal and I would go as far as to say this is one of my favorite sushi rolls of all time. I also think theirs is the best huancaina sauce I've had due to a cheesy profile that it has (and I am a cheese lover). We also had a Maracuyá Pisco Sour, which was beautifully presented and the perfect balance of flavors. You could definitely taste the Pisco, but it was not too strong. Our service was also phenomenal. Our server checked on us often and was very friendly. While the prices are a little high, the quality and flavors make it worthwhile. I definitely will be back and highly recommend for Peruvian / Nikkei food lovers like myself.

When we first arrived, our waiter completely forgot about us and another waiter had to step in and help. My husband ordered a seafood soup, and the waiter's assistant brought it out... but with no spoon. We waited about 5 minutes before she came back with a tiny dessert spoon for a seafood soup I asked the hostess if we could please get a proper spoon. She kept walking in and out until finally she told us that all the spoons in the restaurant were occupied and we had to wait. Meanwhile the soup had already been sitting there for over 10 minutes getting cold. At the end, Alejandro the only person actually trying to help finally went and found a spoon himself. By then my husband didn't even want the soup anymore. Our original waiter finally came back and asked if we wanted him to reheat the soup ‍ My husband said no, please just take it away and bring the check. Then the waiter says, "Look, I removed the soup from the bill," as if that fixed the situation The saddest part is that no manager ever came over, nothing. Everyone acted like this was completely normal. The only person who genuinely tried to resolve the situation was Alejandro.

Let's get down to the items shall we? What We Had Drinks ____________________ + Naori Signature Drink ($15) : 8.4/10 This one's made with Pisco Berries and Triple Sec. It's a layered, fruity cocktail that's a little more complex. Personally, I prefer the Pisco Sour it's cleaner and more balanced for my taste. But if you like citrusy and berry-forward drinks, you might love this one. Again, these are my reviews based on my taste buds. Don Lucho's is probably the closest you will get to a Bronx or Spanish Harlem-style bodega sandwich…read moreshop in West Broward. It's in Coral Springs and has been open for at least two years, and I feel stupid not having gone there this long. It's inside a Grab-N-Go convenience store, and while there is some bench seating, it's a takeout-oriented business. The menu is a mix of Cuban, Peruvian, and Bodega-style breakfast and lunch sandwiches, empanadas, tamales, and ceviche (which I have not tried yet). I got two sandwiches: #1 The Chopped Cheese, which is NOT listed on the printed menu, is posted, and I suspect it is a fairly recent addition. This is not a particularly gourmet or foodie sandwich, as it was created in Harlem or the Bronx (nobody knows exactly; multiple people and bodegas claim origination). It is as blue-collar as it gets, with Latino, Yemeni, or Pakistani origins. But it has been the subject of much Youtuber, Instagrammer, and Tiktok fanfare in the last year or two. Essentially, it is ground beef (a burger) that has been chopped up on the grill using a large spatula and seasoned with an MSG-heavy Badia/Goya sazon or halal meat spice blend with melted American cheese, lettuce, and tomato on a hard roll. They're using a soft hoagie roll here, but it is excellent. In NYC, you can expect to spend $7 or less for a basic one; here, it's $10.55. It's good if you have that sort of craving. #2 The Butifarra. This is a Peruvian sandwich made with roast pork (sliced uncured ham), thinly sliced red onion, lettuce, and a lime dressing with oregano. It's really good. I also tried their in-house empanadas with ground beef and garlic shrimp. Both are good. The french fries are also really good; they are of the skin-on type, so it's definitely a better product than what most fast food places buy. Order them well done, (Buen Hecho) There are no tostones to be found here, though. They have a Cuban sandwich and a few other things that would go well with those. The place offers several different in-house dipping sauces; I got a spicy green one and a habanero one. When I took photos and video, the staff freaked out, "NO SE PUEDE GRABAR!" so I only got about 30 seconds of the chopped cheese being made. The bodega has typical convenience store stuff, but it also sells a brand of chips made in Miami called "Rap Snacks," which looks interesting.
