Forever a favorite for me !!!! I've been here probably 30 times lol over the years and it's always great . The staff is always very nice and welcoming . I've ordered mostly ceviche and tried a few meals. The food is always fresh and made to order . Inside decor and seating is beautiful. Vibrant colors and more . They offer cocktails , juices , water , and wine which is always good .
Food and service was great. Gina our server was great, very knowledgeable about the menu. The space has a beautiful, clean, and colorful ambiance that feels warm, inviting, and elegant.
First time. Quiet later lunch. Delicious. Visually well played. Flavors were very good and balanced. Had a Ceviche mixto and then a Risotto Saltado. Dessert was a Lucuma with chocolate cake. Luscious. Another guest had a more traditional lomo saltado. Rating should be more like a 4.5. Leaving room for future visits to affirm updated rating.
We dined at Salimar Ceviche Bar on a Wednesday evening. The restaurant is beautiful and inviting. We were greeted right away before being told to pick any table we liked (they weren't too busy at the time). We settled in and were quickly welcomed by a smiling server who brought menus and water. To start, my husband and I ordered Pisco Sours (tradicional)--the perfect beginning to a Peruvian meal. The menu is extensive, with plenty of classic dishes that showcase Peru's rich culinary heritage. Among the highlights are ceviche mixto and several types of causas. For those who haven't tried causa, it's a layered potato dish with spices, often topped with tuna or chicken--a pre-Columbian dish that still shines today (take that, colonizers!). Highly recommend giving it a try. We ordered: ceviche mix, anticuchos (grilled steak or chicken), causa, and Jalea Mixta (a fried seafood and fish combo). Each dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The ceviche was bright and zesty, the anticuchos tender and well-seasoned, and the Jalea Mixta a crispy indulgence that we dipped in a spicy sauce and tartar sauce. Service was attentive and friendly throughout the evening, adding to the overall positive experience. My only regret? We didn't save room for dessert. But that just gives us the perfect excuse to return. We're already looking forward to our next visit.

From the last time I visited the restaurant has been updated and it went from hole in the wall to fancy! I was impressed!! They were busy but our server definitely took care of us. 5 stars all around. Two thumbs up for the chef, yummy in my tummy!!
Hidden gem alert! South Florida is well represented when it comes to Latin American or Caribbean cuisines. But In my mind, no South American cuisine tops Peruvian. Enter Salimar! A beautiful, vibrant space, almost as eclectic as the food itself. We came with a huge party(14 people, no reservation), and they were able to accommodate within 5 minutes. The wait staff was both attentive and patient. And the food? Delicious, point blank period! And even more impressive is the price point. Peruvian cuisine tends to be in the high side, but Salimar does not put a big dent in the wallet. Plain and simple, Salimar is the real deal.
This is my second time eating food from Salimar Ceviche bar and I have absolutely loved it. I live about 45 minutes away from Fort Lauderdale but my hairdresser is nearby this place so I've been stopping by for dinner after my appointments the last few times. Everyone from the host to servers are incredibly attentive and friendly. I love how fresh and beautifully-presented the ceviche dishes are. The restaurant interior is also quite beautiful and inviting. Price point isn't too expensive. I would definitely go back. Just be aware their ceviche does run a bit spicy if you ask for spice!
Seems to me that this is my new go-to place for Peruvian food. I'm so happy I chose this for dinner!!! The decoration is so exquisite, clean, chic and warm at the same time. We had Nicolas as our server and he took the time to explain quite a few options on the menu. His attention and patience were OUTSTANDING. We went for a couple of pisco sours (as one should) which were very tasty. Ended up sharing 3 entrees that really blew our minds. Such an amazing way to end our evening! Can wait to go back!!!
Our party enjoyed our dinner at Salimar. There was a nice atmosphere when we walked in - modern decor with some touches of traditional Peruvian folk art. Our waiter and other staff were very attentive and hospitable. The food was good and portions were just right. They ask to tailor spice levels which was nice. The ceviche was fresh and very flavorful. Desserts were also good. The coconut flan didn't have a lot of coconut flavor but was still a very good flan and you could tell it was homemade. The chocolate dulce de leche cake was also good, very balanced and not overwhelmingly sweet as many dulce de leche treats tend to be. Note for folks with seafood allergies - check in with your waiter. They fry shellfish and other items together.

We have so many Peruvian restaurants to choose from in South Florida (which I love) but I've found that some dishes are better at specific locations so it's hard to find a place that has the best ceviche AND hot dishes, if you get my drift. Salimar Ceviche is debatably my number 1?! That's still up in question, however, I can say they are mf bomb! Thier spicy mixed ceviche reminds me of the one my dad makes (the best) and their pasta options with seafood or lomo are drool worthy. Their staff was very kind and warm. I always have our little dude with us so I'm always grateful when they go above and beyond for him. We will be back to try more! Highly impressed. Deserving of the raving reviews. Also a vibe! I told my husband 'this place is so cute, you could have a birthday here'.

The dishes are authentic and the decor is appealing. I have tried various ceviches and they are all very good. They can make it spicy too. Their chica morada is good but my favorite is their Chica de hora. It's basically an alcohol for a non alcohol price (don't tell them that. ;) ) Their food is best and they are always busy. No matter what time you go. Inspite of that they are always super prompt with their service and are always courteous. Salimar is the best kept Peruvian secret in SoFlo.

Great!!!! As soon as you walk into the restaurant it's a WOW look at this place. The decor is 10 stars! The service 10 stars. Our server was extremely attentive & so kind. The best passion fruit pisco sour. The presentation of the food another 10 stars. Although I do admit for the price of the ceviche they could've served a bit more. However, it was delicious. Happy to find a good Peruvian restaurant in South Florida. Salimar has all the traditional dishes like aji de gallina, causa rellena, different types of Ceviche. We ordered some Ceviche to start and it was very fresh. Loved the tangy sauce that complimented the fish very well. Then we shared the anticuchos. The meat was tender and juicy. I wanted the jalea mixto because I was craving yuca but the fish, shrimp, and squid rings were just as good. Lomo saltado was a big portion but a little on the bold side for flavors. Definitely packs a punch. Fries were done perfectly. The decor inside is very cute and Representative of Peru. Service was friendly and efficient. read more
This hidden gem in Oakland park is the perfect mix of Peruvian fusion! Sensational sushi and decadent Peruvian classics. The purple corn sour was unusual and delicious! Beautiful inside and colorful like the Peruvian culture. Good service and cold drinks. Will be back! read more

Nicholas and the other friendly waitstaff took good care of our large party. The food was unbelievable and the atmosphere was lovely. A great place for a celebration or just a nice dinner at a good price. The tacu tacu mariscos was phenomenal and the chica morada pisco sour was delightful. read more
Bad location. Good Peruvian food. Location is in a strip mall. Seems sketch but I find the most authentic places don't have the best location in South Florida. The ceviche was good but the tostadas were better! Everything was tasty but a bit garlicky. If you go here, get plantains!!!!! We also had an amazing server. She did an excellent job explaining the menu. read more

I haven't had Peruvian food in years so this was a treat. I first tried Pisco sours in Peru, many years ago. Salimar offers Pisco sours and passion fruit pisco sours, which are very good. They also have a wine menu. We started off with 3 appetizers; octopus, and scallops served in the shell with lots of onions (spicy). I had the grouper topped with shrimp, and white rice. It was very tasty. My friends tried various other dishes, including fried rice, and steak. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The service was great, the waitress was friendly and helpful. read more
At first, I thought Salimar was pretty good, but on reflection, it was mostly good. The service was friendly and attentive. The ceviche was good. It should be, right? The other dishes, though, seemed to have too much sauce that overwhelmed the flavors of the main ingredients. There were several of us. So, that seemed true of many of the dishes. I'd go back for ceviche but I'm usually not in the mood for ceviche. read more
The food was really fantastic here. I was hurting for some good ceviche and I usually get it at places in Miami but being in the fort Lauderdale area I'm so happy I found Salimar. From the moment I walked in the service was really friendly and made me feel welcome, this one is not too far from commercial boulevard and is in the shopping center with plenty of easy parking. This is now my go-to for ceviche in fort Lauderdale because it is clearly authentic Peruvian ceviche. I ordered one of them made with leche de tigre and it had the right amount of flavor and spice. Their menu has the usual assortment of Peruvian cuisine such as homosapadado launcher seafood and some pastas so there's plenty for everyone here. The ambiance was clean trendy and inviting I found it very relaxing to sit and enjoy some good seafood here. read more

After a nice long afternoon at the beach we decided to make our way to grab some ceviche. After looking at a few options this one looked like a great option so we made our way over! Samilar is located at the end of a small strip mall in Oakland Park and has plenty of parking and seating both indoor and outdoor. We were greeted right away and sat down. We ordered the maracuya (passion fruit) juice, ceviche mixto (level 7), tacu tacu de mariscos, and a maracuya cheesecake to finish. The highlights were the ceviche and the cheesecake! The ceviche was a perfect level of spiciness and fresh. The maracuya cheesecake was more of a pudding but so delicious and had me savoring every bite! The juice was okay, not freshly made like other locations so I would skip it next time. I would recommend this place if you're looking for great ceviche and relaxed atmosphere! read more

I overlooked this restaurant driving by frequently before I finally decided to look it up and much to my surprise the reviews were amazing so I had to check it out! They really did not disappoint. Our waitress was the best, providing amazing prompt service with a great attitude. I wish I remembered her name but she could have easily been mistaken for the owner! The flavoring was on point and everyone left satisfied with their meal. Our waitress let us know that modification's were ok and if there was something not on the menu that we were looking for they would do their best to accommodate, even as far as offering off-menu vegetarian options. We tried the papa a la huancaina - mixed with their hot sauce is *chefs kiss* Aji de gallina Arroz con pollo Lomito a lo probre Highly recommend stopping in if you're craving Peruvian food! What a Gem! My new favorite spot for sure. Ya know that feeling when you take a bite of such good food that it reaches a part of your soul that you need to close your eyes and just have a moment..lol...yup! That's this place. As if the smiles and warm, welcome greetings we received at Salimar Ceviche Bar weren't enough, the food was delicious. We had never had Peruvian cuisine, and as other Yelpers have mentioned, our server/ hostess Gabbi explained, and was knowledgeable about the menu. We opted for the grilled octopus appetizer. What a treat!!! The salad and grilled octopus were delicious together, and we could have licked the plate!!! My husbands fish and shrimp main was perfectly cooked, flaky and tender with a mild yellow sauce. My entree had tender beef, fries, rice, in a mild brown sauce. There were just 2 nitpicky drawbacks. 1.... Our entrees were very salty. And I love salty.... 2. I wished for something a little more spicy .... I like some heat to my meals, and I feel like something spicy would have made it perfect. For our first Peruvian experience, I was overall happy, and would recommend Salimar. read more
