Horribly disorganized in the front of house (multiple servers for the same table), but I can forgive that since the first time I came here, the food was great. The second time, though, was a completely different story. Disorganized again, but when my fiancee bit into her pineapple fried rice, she spit out an EARRING! We were beside ourselves. The server came by and took the plate and said he would take 10% off and return with a new pineapple fried rice. We were okay with this. We proceeded to eat our food (to the best of our ability) and got the check. We were surprised to see the 10% only applied to the affected entrée! A $19 dish became $17.10 after having an earring in her food. It was in someone's ear before being in her food. We flagged down our server and asked if this was all they could do. He said he could take 10% off my entrée. My entrée was fine. No metal. We proceeded to flag down a manager, who seemed completely indifferent to our situation. He asked if we wanted the entrée comped. Well it would have been nice to offer!​ God forbid my fiancee nearly ate metal and got sick, but do we want to not pay for the meal that nearly did that to her? We get the meal comped and after getting the new check, we are pretty much ignored for the entire time we are at the restaurant. We were right by the kitchen to, so they had to try very hard to avoid us. This staff is very unprofessional and we are very displeased with the entire evening at Sawasdee. TLDR: Food comes with metal earring inside, waiter nickel and dimes us, we get manager involved, he reluctantly comps the meal, never going back, so unprofessional. read more

I am not a food critic. I am just a guy who appreciates ambiance, people, and food. With that being said, the experience I had at Sawasdee Thai elevated, forced my hand to leave a review. And that's because it was AWESOME! First things first, this place has a very cool and magical ambiance. I often caught myself looking around in just pure appreciation. Appreciation for the layout, the design, the art. A very cool and inviting vibe. Secondly, the people. The people are AMAZING. From the hosts, to the bartenders, to the server, A++ all around. Just very cool, down to earth, good peeps who pay attention to your table and experience. The owner (who is also a Chef on the line) even came out when he had a moment to decompress to do rounds from table to table. I mean... it felt as if he was an uncle who just invited you to a good ole family dinner. The pride he took in his food and his staff was on another level. Lastly, and definitely not least, was the FOOD!! I'm not a curry guy. Never was, never liked it. Their braised short rib curry, sent me travelling through time to when I was a kid and my grandma would make me a hearty short rib soup during a cold winter day. It felt nostalgic and delicious. Our table dove into a ton of cool dishes from Shrimp Pad thai, Pad See Ew, Steamed Thai Dumpling, and even gluten free vegetable dumplings. This is a must try. I really liked the restaurant ambience - the decor was beautiful and overall a nice and clean space, especially during post pandemic. The Thai Iced Tea is delicious. I had the drunken noodles and I enjoyed them. I also ate their spring rolls and basil fried rice- all delicious. The only thing preventing me from giving them a full 5/5 but it is a little overpriced for the serving size you get. Sawasdee is probably my new favorite Thai restaurant to come too. The restaurant is modern and has a nice fusion look to it. We came in for dinner on a Wednesday night, it wasn't busy we got a table right away. For the appetizer I ordered the Chicken Satay and the Golden bags. The golden bags is probably my favorite app out of the two. The golden bags were fried to a nice golden brown and the filling was really juicy and flavorful! It is a must try!!!. The Chicken Satay tasted good the peanut sauce tasted alight it was more chunky then most peanut sauces. For the entree I ordered the Drunken Noodles while my wife ordered the Pad Thai. My drunken noodle was full of flavor it was loaded with vegetables. Everything was cooked perfectly and all the ingredients blended perfectly together. My only negative part would be it wasn't spicy at all, I didn't taste the spice. My wife pad thai she enjoyed, everything tasted really good. Always felt as though Long Island lacked a good Thai restaurant and this definitely far exceeded my expectations!! Place was super busy for a Thursday night yet the service was on point and attentive. For starters we ordered the chili chicken wings - so hot, crispy, and delicious. Entrees we got the pad ke mao with chicken (drunken man noodles) and Penang curry with chicken to share. Both were finger licking good. My boyfriend also ordered a mai tai which was the best damn mai tai I've ever had. Place is really pretty on the inside and the food is bomb. A little on the pricier side for Thai but well worth it. We both left satisfied and can't wait to be back so we can try more :) Ps their spicy is not so spicy so tell them to kick it up a notch! read more

Thanks go to my fellow Yelpers who recognized the greatness of this relative newcomer to the Plainview restaurant scene and wrote encouraging positive reviews! Our group of 4 chose to celebrate a Birthday there and it was a great choice on our part. Upon entering you are aware of the efforts to make this place comfortable and authentically ethnic at the same time...in this case an upscale version...It is plain yet elegant aside from the hard seats, which after awhile are a pain in the butt! We have dined in All of the Thai and combo Thai restaurants in the area....This place stands out as unpretentious yet warm and hospitable..The servers were friendly and always there to help. The menu is vast with something for everyone...One note is that some reviewers said they left hungry...not possible as our dishes were so large we had leftovers for the next day. Also, some had problems getting the degree of heat they wanted...we explained which dishes we wanted 911 hot and which less hot...and that is how they were delivered. My Drunken Noodle Appy was 911...really Thai Hot yet another order was just mildly hot as ordered. They do recognize the difference and if you explain your heat they will deliver. Another Appy was Fried Calamari with a Siracha dipping sauce which was one of the best we have had!..Hot, crisp and spicy when dipped..perfect....And of course we tried their Thai Wings which were also crispy and steamy and went so well with the dipping sauce..a winner. On to mains... We ordered a mixed bag of fantastic dishes: Thai Basil Chicken prepared moderately spicy...wonderful basil taste hits your palatte and then bang the spice kicks in...a wonderful dish. I got the Crispy Pork Belly 911...Was the best I have had! the pieces of Pork Belly were cooked perfectly and each piece layered with crisp skin with meat then juicy fat then more meat....what a mouthful!! Also ordered Braised Short Rib in Massaman Curry which had very tender meat in a tasty peanutty sauce that was perfect. As a note...all the dishes were made with FRESH vegetables which gave them different nuances. From the red and green peppers to the crisp green beans and the Snap Peas and of course fresh sauteed onions....the combo giving the dishes alot of depth in flavors. The dessert was incredible...Fried Ice Cream with the most delish sauce....Came flaming to the table and the coating around the ice cream tasted marshmellowy and the combo of all the ingredients was decadent and we cleaned the plate in record time.....Good stuff! Towards the end of dinner we met John and his wife Wali, the props of this establishment. They keep a tight rein on what comes out of the kitchen and it shows when you see it hit the table. Wali is Thai and John met her in Thailand and together they had the vision to build a Thai Restaurant that served as close to the real deal as possible. Not having been to Thailand, I can only say that their food is delish and must be a doppleganger of the real deal from around the world. This restaurant is BEAUTIFUL! I know you're not going to eat somewhere based too much on what it looks like but it looks like it belongs in manhattan somewhere because it's so chic. As for the food and service- it was simply amazing. We tried a lot of different things on the menu and we're mostly very happy. We had the curry puff and crispy spicy wings (forgot the name) for appetizers and Thai basil shrimp, Penang curry, and drunken noodles for our main course. Also has the pumpkin custard for dessert. Decor was modern and trendy. It was busy on a Friday night. The drinks were good. Food was pretty authentic too but way overpriced!! $30+ for salmon was not worth it! Service was too slow. It is most definitely quality over quantity so do not expect a large plate of food like some other Thai restaurants in the neighborhood. I've been here a few times, and these are my favorite dishes: Appetizer - Golden Bags $8 - sautéed ground chicken, corn, green peas, carrot, onion wrapped in crispy spring sheet, sweet chili sauce Curry Entree - Panang Curry with Beef $18 - string bean, bell pepper, kaffir lime leaves, coconut milk, panang curry paste Noodles - Spicy Basil "Drunken Noodle" with Chicken $14 - broad flat rice noodles stir-fried in a spicy chili sauce with egg, onion, scallion, bell pepper, fresh basil. They also have great ambiance for a suburban restaurant at a mid-range price level! Sawasdee is a place where you can take a date or someone new to the cuisine and they won't be freaked out by the usual Thai restaurant look... a take out place with more tables and a coat of paint. Beyond the sleek ambiance, Sawasdee provided a few nice lunches for myself and guests. For $12 to $15 (beef n shrimp), you can get a small soup/salad, small dumpling or spring roll, and a lunch entree, which is sizable. If you're a drunken noodle fan, the version here is solid, though not if you like your food spicy. I requested it spicy and it came out mild. Take note, the pad thai is a bit on the drier side, so ask for extra sauce. Overall, a solid addition to the neighborhood! Will be back to try more dishes. The name delivers; Thai Elevated. The place is beautiful. All the notes have been hit to make this look like the trendiest of hotspots in NYC, really well done. Fortunately it doesn't end there. Great selection of regional beers, the lychee & lemongrass martinis were incredible. The apps were the proving ground here. Golden Bags, Chicken Satay, Thai Papaya Salad and a special on the menu Curry Puffs. Some I have had elsewhere, others were new, all of them were unreal. Just really, really good. We were a good crowd and everyone got a taste of everyone's. I had the Spicy Pork Belly. The favorite amongst the table. Many have reviewed it, and it is still understated. Even if I were a wordsmith, I would fail to give it it's fair due. From the carrots to the Thai basil, this pork belly was amazing. The Drunken Noodles, my usual go to, were just right. Spicy but not overwhelming. The Panang Curry was by far the best I've had. The way Sawasdee does their vegetables is one of the things that brings their restaurant leagues ahead of everyone else. Decor and ambience was nice. Textured white walls with purple accents. Also two big murals on opposite walls. There is also wood features on one wall and the ceiling shaped as a bridge. Dinner on a Wednesday night (day before a major holiday). We were seated immediately and waited about 15 minutes for water and that was after asking for it. Then waited about 10 mins for a server to take our order and it was after I made eye contact with the server. Appetizers: curry puffs ($12 for 4 pieces) and chicken satay ($12 for 4 pieces)- came out pretty quickly after ordering. The chicken satay was okay and the curry puff was not bad as well. I would probably order the curry puffs again but not the chicken satay. Entree: sweet and sour chicken- definitely a portion for two. Tasty but I would probably order something else next time. Drunken noodle- decent and would probably order again. Lastly, ordered the Thai Iced tea. From my experience this evening, I can tell John and his amiable staff: mission accomplished! Seeking an alternative to my typical Vodka Martini, I accepted John's recommendation of a Thai Coconut Cocktail, which I really enjoyed.Dinner commenced with our very nice, personable, patient and efficient waitress Tig smoothly taking orders and patiently explaining dishes. We chose Chicken Satay, Golden Bags ("sauteed ground chicken,corn,green pea, carrot, onion, wrapped in crispy spring sheet, sweet chili sauce") and BBQ Niman Pork Ranch and Thai Dumplings. It was an ample and satisfying portion of a half duck "off the bone". The red curry was perfectly balanced with wonderfully complex flavoring but was very mild and only slightly hot, rendering the dish accessible to everyone but the most spice and heat averse diners. Those who "like it hot" (you know who you are) should ask for it to be made hotter or for hot sauce to add at the table.The dish contained ample curry "gravy" to flavor then accompanying fried rice. I washed down my beer with a Chang Beer which, frankly, I liked better than the more well-known Singha. One diner chose the Slow Basted Short Rib Massaman Curry and pronounced it incredibly delicious. The Chicken Fried Rice was moist, fresh and flavorful. I was too full for dessert but the one diner who indulged pronounced the Pumpkin Custard outstanding. All in all, "refined Thai" is what you get here. I will let others judge criteria such as "authenticity" because I, like most others, am ill equipped to make such judgments..........but one easy judgment that I can make about Sawasdee Thai Elevated is : I WANT TO RETURN!!!!! read more

NEW RESTAURANT ALERT!!!!!! After a much waited anticipation sawasdee opened up this week. I always love when there is s new place to try in town so I gave them a try for lunch. I decided to stick with some thai classics on my first visit, drunken noodles and chicken pad thai. Both were delicious and beautifully plated. For lunch they offer very reasonably priced specials. Entrée with a small app and soup or salad for $12 to $15 bucks. Most of their meat and poultry are locally sourced as well as all natural and anti-biotic free. Which is a plus! I did take a gander at their dinner menu which sounded very interesting. I'll definitely be back to give it a try! read more

The place looked cleaned and the tables are spaced out. We ordered curry puff, pad see ew, and massaman curry. The curry puff was delicious, super flaky and well seasoned. The pad see ew was pretty burnt (making everything bitter), very salty, and the Chinese broccoli were barely edible because it was so tough. The curry was ok, the potatoes were crunchy and was so heavy on cinnamon(?) that it's tasted like a potpourri. For the higher prices compared to the other Thai restaurants, I expected at least good food. read more

The tom yum soup was the most salty thai soup ive ever had. The drunken noodle, while it looked really good and tasted nice and spicy, was also too salty, noodles were not cooked nearly enough (tough and hard in some parts). Theres nothing more embarrassing than having to spit food out of your mouth, so i did so discreetly. If the noodles were cooked correctly and the salt level really came down in this place, i would love to come back. As of now, im fine with the other Thai restaurants in neighboring towns. read more

Any recommendations they gave we went with and weren't disappointed at all. Drinks were really good! Food was very tasty! This is where things take a turn. My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and decided to close out our check. Last minute we decided to take another round of drinks at the bar to celebrate our occasion. We asked the gentleman at the bar what time they close and he said 9PM and the time was 8:50. We requested for drinks and the gentleman turned around and abruptly said "No". I was thrown off and mentioned they close in 10 minutes & that we're celebrating our anniversary. Gentlemen again rudely responded saying you have to order food. We told him that we were sitting for an hour and a half, ordered food and just literally closed out our check. His response - "Well.. You're not eating now are you?" I was so upset & angry I decided to walk out. Turns out the gentleman who we were speaking to was the owner. I was appalled by hearing that. A nice kick of spice The Pad Woon Sen - thin angel hair like noodles with chicken and other vegetables.. Tastes really good. The fried rice is the best chicken fried rice I've had in a long time.. Pretty although mine was missing the lime garnish that the customer next to me had :( Vegetable Tom Yum soup for $6 is a bit high! I kept comparing the flavor to New Chili & Curry's soup and, still, no soup has beat theirs for me yet! This soup is strong in fish sauce flavor. I did like the kaffir lime leaves and lemongrass in it though! And, when I asked for brown rice instead of white the server said it would be $3 more! What!? My pet peeve is when someone at my table gets their food way before the rest of us. Not sure if server did it intentionally but my son got his food and was halfway done eating it when we finally got ours. My son's chicken fried rice ordered off the regular menu ( no kids menu) was not tasty. My husband's spicy drunken noodles was a small portion! Come on, the flat noodles couldn't be that expensive. Give the guy a bit more noodles! And my vegetable Panang curry was rich and thick but a bit sweet for my taste! The vegetables were a bit inconsistently cooked. Some were cold.
