Savoy! Our first experience at this quaint, tucked away breakfast place at 61st and Sheridan. We were pleasantly surprised by the waitress asking how we were and we told her that it was our first time there. Minutes later we were greeted and surprised by this larger than life hot homemade cinnamon roll slathered with frosting, yum! The four separate meals were served at the same time, hot and fresh out of the kitchen. I ordered the Mexican skillet with the tortilla chips and honestly it was my mistake. I should have subbed the chips with potatoes., it was like eating nachos with eggs. Then the cheese got cold. Nonetheless everyone else was pleased with their meal. If there was one thing I am most impressed about Savoy, it is the impeccable service. My server David was so attentive and excellent at his job. What was not as impressive about Savoy is the price of their breakfast entrees, $16-$17 each. I don't know how others feel about this price but it's expensive for breakfast. Each entree comes with an abundant of food though. The $17 chorizo skillet came with biscuit and gravy. My server was generous with the biscuit, giving me two instead of one. The chorizo skillet was good but it was a lot of food for one person so I got 2 meals out of one. This brunch diner was busy on a Saturday morning. The good thing about this diner was there is no wait time. I got a seat pretty much right away, albeit by the exit door, so it was noisy most of the time. I liked this breakfast diner. We have been a couple of times and the less critical gaggle of my family was willing to give it a four star rating. To quote Aristotle, "I love Plato, but I love the truth more." The cinnamon roll was three star. It was huge, but it was just three star quality. My breakfast was average, and we live in a town that has a bunch of places that do really great breakfast. I had heard about the Savoy for years and we finally came and tried it for ourselves. We both had the western omelets and added avocado my husband also added jalapeños. They were delicious! My husband wasn't sure he was crazy about the filling veggies not being cooked but it all tasted great! we stopped in to the Savoy after church today. We kept it pretty simple and went with the go-to items here. At least my go-to items. Ha ha if you haven't had the Savoy cream puff or eclair yet, you are missing out on one of life's greatest pleasures. Prior to going to Savoy to eat, I had heard from others just how good their food was. Actually, I had actually enjoyed some of their catered fare during a Christmas party with a previous employer. So when my wife suggested we go for breakfast I was definitely enticed by the opportunity. Upon entering the restaurant, I noticed that it was very much like a diner. Well lit, clean, plenty of tables and space, lots of waiters, and it was busy! All good signs of a good experience. We took our seats and were immediately helped by "Katie" who took our drink orders with a friendly smile and morning cheer. The menu is a simple front/back diner type with relatively basic selections. Known for their delicious cinnamon rolls, I avoided the temptation to get just a roll and had the California Skillet. The hashbrown based egg scramble came out on a hot skillet with two huge biscuits and a bowl of gravy. Needless to say, I did not finish with a "happy plate" because I filled up too quickly. This would be your "just around the corner, old time diner" type place. You get to seat yourself. Since it our our first time there, we were served a (free) nice, iced cinnamon roll. It was good! I didn't have it in me to ask them to warm my free cinnamon roll, so I enjoyed it by dipping it in my coffee. Seating is practically close together, so if privacy is what you want, not the place for it. My friend ordered the French toast, I had the Chorizo Benedict with the home fries...it was delicious. The server said it had a kick, but I didn't taste it. Regardless, it was delicious! My friend enjoyed his French toast. I noticed on our way out that there were freshly made pies in the back. Stepping into Savoy, it's hard to believe this place has been around since 1918, especially with its bright, modern, and welcoming decor. It's got that perfect mix of history and fresh vibes. We stopped in for breakfast, and everything was cooked fresh and hit the spot. From the eggs and turkey bacon to the grits, biscuits and gravy, and ham--each dish was flavorful and satisfying. The coffee smelled amazing, though at $4, it felt a bit steep. Thankfully, the rest of the menu prices were much more reasonable. Servers were attentive and always with a smile. Makes everything else brighter. It's a shame I'm only in town for a short stay, because I'd definitely be back in a heartbeat. Oh not good. Everyone talks about the cinnamon rolls here but Tally's is super close and ahas a much better cinnamon roll. As you come in there are numbers outside the door you take one and wait outside they will come out the door and call your number. My husband and I both ordered under server with two eggs, I got the pork chop and eggs and he got the chicken fried steak and eggs. I can add but he can not take it out. I we do taste each others the food is good I do feel that the chicken fried steak was a little on the tough side. My pork chops have no bones it is just the heart of them which I like not having the bone. It is also a thick cut and juicy. I ordered my eggs over easy and they were made as I ordered. A Sunday after church lunch saw us at Savoy. I was taken aback by the crowd of people and odd number system but we didn't have a long wait thankfully. The staff was friendly and seated us quickly at a spartan table among other spartan and mismatched tables. I ordered the chicken fried steak with hash browns and biscuits and gravy I found the CFS a bit unusual. It was it was tough but not chewy. The breading thin but effective. The hash browns were crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. The biscuits were fluffy and had a bready texture. The sausage gravy looked too peppery but were perfectly seasoned for my taste. The cream gravy was as thick as pudding and very creamy. In short all the food gets a pass from me. While nothing stood out as exceptional it was all good. I definitely recommend Savoy. read more

The bacon is indeed thick straps of perfectly cooked, smoked pork. If you ask for crisp bacon, it will be that. Evenly cooked crisp end to end. Oklahoma's ecosystem is made up of old-fashioned communities, simple infrastructure, and kind folks that are proud of their traditions. When you add in the abundance of farmland and the majority blue-collar labor force, you get a network of institutions that are proud to serve one another. These elements are the reason why there's an abundance of breakfast and diner-type offerings throughout the state but very few are as consistent or exceptional as Savoy. This restaurant initially popped up on my radar around 2015/2016 when Tulsa World published an article that included a list of the best restaurants in Tulsa. I now hold this restaurant in the highest regard, ensuring that I visit at least 8 times per year, officially qualifying for my frequent flyer list. The exterior is nothing to be impressed with: antiquated parking lot, minimal signage 2 benches and an old-school waiting system. But, unlike many places, Savoy's experience has much more than an atmospheric appeal. Instead of modernizing their structure or their system, Savoy focuses on their exceptional service and rich food offerings which is why I believe that they are the blueprint of what breakfast/diner restaurants should be. The busiest days to visit are on the weekends (seemingly all day) as new and returning customers fill the waiting area, but I've visited through the week on a few occasions. There's an old-school "take a number" waiting system and there's only 2 benches outside for guests who can't be seated. I'm never turned away at the wait because Savoy maximizes their guest-space with tables and I've never had to wait longer than 30mins, but you do have to be present when your number is called. There's always the same busser/host that calls and seats you, very nice gentleman. Other than that, I've had several different servers and they're all kind, soft-spoken and generous folk. The menu is comprehensive but somehow made easy. Every breakfast option and combination you can think of right there, neat and separated. There is no wrong option, individually or as a meal. Unfortunately, I've never had any lunch option but some of my favorite breakfast choices include the Chorizo Skillet, the Western Omelet, the biscuits and gravy. Each main dish comes with an additional side, which is a mind-blowing value. There's always a hearty amount of food served, no matter what. Also, it never takes a disturbing amount of time! Another charm is that if it's your first visit you get a delicious, freshly baked cinnamon roll for free (then you'll be hooked)! Which is why I believe Savoy's consistency, hospitality and devotion deserves continuous recognition and admiration. It's no wonder that folks repeatedly come each week. Unfortunately, there's not many places that make you feel at home anymore but somehow Savoy remains a hallmark in this current modernized breakfast/brunch industry. Savoy doesn't bother itself with updating the interior, adding music, modernizing their decor, QR code menus, or virtual waiting lists (each could raise prices). Instead, they focus on what they do best: offering kind, attentive service and hearty helpings of food at an excellent value. That's what Oklahoma wants, that's who we are, that's what we need. read more

You don't need a review to tell you how great this place you can figure that out from the line on any given prime meal time It can be and easy hour wait on the weekends. Is worth it, depends on if they still have cinnamon rolls when you get in, definitely. While the food was absolutely delicious, the stand out is always the service, the wait staff always come at the right time to tap up drinks, take orders. I think these are some of the best cinnamon rolls in town and they sell out so get yourself one if they have. They may blow your sugar levels out for the month but it may be worth it. I feel like there is no wrong choice here for food, the pancakes are delicious, the eggs if you get a skillet are really good. We decided to check this place out today on the recommendation of a friend. We were served by April, who was fantastic. The specials today were chicken pot pie and meatloaf, which April highly recommended. The two sides I chose with my meal were a side salad and fries. My wife chose the side salad and a vegetable. When the meal arrived, I was shocked at the size of it. After my first taste of the pot pie, I was hooked. The same with my wife. The dinner rolls were also huge and delicious. April said the restaurant is actually better known for their breakfasts, so we will be trying that soon. I'm really happy my friend turned me on to this place and I anticipate going there several more times in the future. What a fabulous gem! From the moment you walk in you're fed, starting with your soul. The staff make you feel good. Like you're home. Which fits perfectly since everything is HOMEmade. The coffee is the best drip coffee I've had at a diner but it's no latte. I ordered the California skillet, it comes with homemade salsa that was a perfect compliment to the skillet. The hash browns are fresh and cooked perfectly, which Omgoodness why is that so hard, but just about every place does not cook them properly, they hurry.
