Beer Stein I got for 4 bucks

Everything is so cheap the toys are pure entertainment for kids and everything is an interesting item! I got a beer Stein for dirt cheap!

I'm on a quest for single flowered dinner plates. My nephew is having an outdoor wedding next summer and is looking for unmatched plates for their outdoor table settings. I've been in other thrift stores, most recently Salvation Army, where I found 6 plates that cost me a total of $3.25. Here the prices were much higher! Cheapest were sets of 2 for $3. I noticed some items were decent deals but most were not. I wandered into the clothes area and saw many tops that I could buy cheaper at places like Kohls. Big store laid out well but not sure I'll be back.

    Super high prices.

I come here regularly and it is often very difficult to find anything good because the majority of the employees in the back take the good items for themselves before they are even put out. Additionally, many of the prices are super high (2-3x what items go for on ebay.) I used to find a lot of good items here and it's become very hard lately.

Great deals on kids clothes, all in very good used condition. - A collection of children's clothes, including a colorful dress, striped shirt, tie-dye shirt, and shorts, laid out on a marble surface.

I haven't been to a savers in several years, and today I was in the neighborhood so I decided to stop in. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was how clean and organized the store was. I went to the housewears section first, and immediately found some treasures - my mom enjoys collecting aluminum serving platters and lo and behold I found one - for only $5! Next I hit up the kids section, where I saw yellow clothing tags were 50% off, score! I grabbed a few things for my daughter to grow into. I try to thrift a lot of her clothes because she grows so fast and is pretty messy! They have name brands like old navy, gap, and I even found a Matilda Jane top going for $30 on poshmark! I browsed the women's section next, found some great dresses for myself too - J Crew and an Anthropologie brand. I thought the prices were decent, maybe a touch expensive for a thrift store. They really do have a little bit of everything so it was fun to look everywhere! I was excited to see that after I signed up for their rewards club, I received a $3 off coupon to use this month so I'll have to go back!

Well it's gone way downhill. No more weekly color sale tags on clothes. Not worth it at regular non half off prices.

But honestly, Goodwill and Salvation Army have lost their minds on prices for things that should have gone to the dump.

There's a Savers nearby, so I did a two for one trip today, but even without the second act, I'd say it was worth it. I hadn't been to this location in ages, so I was caught off guard by the new pricing policy. They've simplified it to mostly preset prices depending on the type of garnment, with signs posted at the door and on some of the racks. There was also a sign stating white was half off this week. Well, clear, as the little prickly plastic looked. I'm sure they do this to make tag swapping harder, but the little buggers poked me a few times when I tried things on. The vast array is sorted by gender and style. I perused most of it, skipping the previously used undergarnments. My hands were actually full of potential scores (some people had carts if you prefer). The fitting room doors were already open for me. Once shut, it was not much bigger than a phone booth. There were no hooks, and the mirror sat on the bench, wobbling when I tried to sit down next to it. I ended up carefully stacking my clothes on my backpack on the floor to avoid getting them dirty. Despite only being open for less than an hour, there were already dust bunnies and dirt specks making me struggle to try on pants while keeping my socks on. I was happy that I found both a sweater and pair of kids pants that fit me well. I discarded my rejects on the provided rack and quickly perused the housewares section. They also sell books and electronics and furniture, but being on foot, I opted to pay for my findings instead. Without a kid with me, the cashier assumed I was buying adult pants, so I was charged more (didn't realize until I got the receipt) but he offered a penny so that I wouldn't have to break a bigger bill. I don't think I'm going out of my way any time soon to revisit, but I could see myself coming back when the stock rotates to test my luck at finding something old to make something new.

The store gets 100 percent profit before paying workers and other store cost. They are at an advantage unlike most retailers who have to purchase then sell or resale. The cost they charge us for items they receive free can sometimes be astronomical. I've seen it's me over $1000 I'm flabbergasted. Not at this location but at other good wills. I didn't know they were allowed to do that. But I wasn't impressed with this location I'll try it again.

I am a woman on a mission. In an attempt to find the replacement thrift store (RIP Payne ave…read moreSalval) I flailed my way across Sheridan on foot in search of new, well old, pants. It's close to my regular grocery stores, so I was really hoping this was going to be the place. All I can say is that it's not not the place. Walking in, I immediately came to face a large security footage screen, as if to deter me from theft. The proceeds of the sales go towards feeding and clothing the underprivileged (they say they even give some donations to the people in need, which explains where all the clothes I throw in those red boxes around town go) which you would hope would make anyone with a conscience pay up, though at the prices they charge, I could see why one wouldn't want to. The prices are more comparable to a low end clothing retailer like Walmart than second hand stores I have grown accustomed to. They also had the colored tags, and I looked unsuccessfully for signage to see if it meant any deals. Their website explains the color would make something half off, which must not have been the case today. I combed through the racks, which are sorted by type and size instead of color. I was able to find one cheaper pair of pants to try on, so I headed to the back, where there were two massive unlocked fitting rooms. They were super clean and spacious with a wall sized mirror, a bench and a rack for returns. I could comfortably kick my legs about (yes, kick, as I was testing the durability) and squat down (butt crack coverage) without worrying about hitting the wall. Side quest accomplished. I had also looked through the rest of the store: furniture, housewares, toys and books. I was disturbed to find a used bottle of mouthwash for sale on the shelf, which is mostly the reason why when deciding between a three and a four for this review, I knocked it down. The cashier asked if I wanted to join the loyalty program, to which I declined, watching my total pop up on a screen in front of me. They're rounding pennies now for those paying cash. Which in the grand scheme of things hopefully means that an extra two cents is helping those they serve. I might come back at some point, with more money in my wallet to poke around, but for a place called Heart, this isn't my new love.

The prices are higher than I'd like for a thrift shop but if you get lucky with the price tag colors then sometimes there are good deals. Stickers are extremely sticky and are put on things regardless of whether it will damage them or not, so be aware that this stuff is a pain to get off if you are looking for collectibles. Parking lot is large and easy to access. Staff is generally friendly and helpful... if you can find them. There is not always someone at the register and the method they have of checking people out seems purposely designed to be the most inefficient and awkward setup possible. Not the staff's fault, but can management consider a re-design of the check-out area? Overall decent store and I love that it supports the veterans.
