Interesting selection of items, and a lot of fun to go in and browse for ideas or treasure hunting. Prices are higher than I was expecting - dressers ranged $100-200 for the ones available when I visited. It's a great cause, I had just been hoping for more thrift-store pricing so just a heads up for adjusting expectations. The items look to be in good shape and several I would guess are quite old (in a very cool way, lots of character!). Lots of tall hutches with glass doors. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and even had a tape measure which was nice since I'd forgotten mine. They do deliver large furniture but expect to pay at least $75 for that depending on distance and whether there are any stairs. I would totally go back for future furniture hunting, especially for older classic styles. read more

This is the first location I've been to in Buffalo, NY. It's a decent (smaller) size compared to the location I've been to in Wisconsin. The store is divided into sections: China, Furniture, chandelier's and lamp shades, door knobs, bathroom stuff and a couple of random things. There are a couple of nice pieces of furniture, but a bit pricey. More expensive then thrift stores. I found a cute antique bar cart though! I love the chandelier section. Definitely check out and support The Habitat for Humanity Restore! They have a whole wall of nobs and handles that are way less than retail value and are in either brand new or gently used condition. As a second-hand store for housewares - this location has everything you may need to furnish and remodel a house on a budget. They had a beautiful cedar wood armoire for $150! Plus original doors from local homes. Lighting, too! It's a treasure trove to check out. If you're looking for any glassware or crystal glassware - they have a whole room dedicated to these delicate pieces. Decent prices - they do have certain days where older stock is priced at a discount! Check the sign when you walk in. They do have a parking lot available to park in, with a side door to pull up and pick up larger pieces. read more

But three of the last five times I have attempted to shop there, I pulled up to the building during their normal posted business hours, only to find a sign on the door saying they were closed for a delayed holiday observation, training/meeting, and the last time gave no reason. Just "we are closing early today." So that's annoying. read more

This review is for the Re-Store. I've lived in several cities that have had Habitat For Humanity stores that I had HEARD were open to the general public, but I had never been in one before Buffalo. I have been missing out and paying WAY too much on DIY home improvement projects! The Re-Store sells new and used donated goods. These aren't just your average couches (although they have those too - some $50 or less!), but they also have ENTIRE KITCHENS that contractors donate when they tear out a kitchen for upgrade. I've seen entire cabinet sets for less than $300. They also have light fixtures, cabinet door pulls, doors, windows, bed frames, desks, furniture, dishwashers, refrigerators, paint, and anything else that contractors and the general public might think to donate. Everything is priced VERY low and the staff are friendly and helpful. I got an elaborate chandelier for $50 and a laz-e-boy 3 piece living room set (couch, love seat, chair) - all with heat and vibrating massage - for $300. I've lives in this neighborhood for a few years now and never been in this "second hand" store. Like another review said, I've been missing out. They are not the norm for this type of store, but what a collection of odds and ends. Hardware and doors to sinks and such. I got a used La-Z-Boy for $10 on a sale day. It's in good shape, just needs a slip cover. Not everything is perfect, but it's worth a look. read more

Restore is a DIY Heaven. Ok, I confess as a daughter of a General Contractor and handyman wannabe, I've been subscribing to This Old House, Sunset, and Dwell magazines for years. Well if those mediums serve as inspiration then Restore serves as the canvas. They stock the warehouse with salvaged materials from homes that Habitat for Humanity remodeled or built new and also sell donated materials or new overstock items from construction sites. I scored 4 brand new insulated double pane Hurd storm windows for $3 each. $3 each? That's craziness Batman! I'm making my own cold frame with them. Who needs to spend $200 on a pre-fabricated cold frame for your gardening misadventures when you can make one for less than $20? In addition to offering doors, windows, wood, flooring material, tubs, sinks, and cabinets, they also have a small selection of previously loved furniture. read more

this review is for the donation center for the NORTH store. Alan who I spoke with was very unprofessional, screaming on the phone, arguing with myself. I had called to find out when the pick up would be at my house because it was 4 min to 3 and the person waiting for it had to leave shortly. He argued with me that it was not 3:00pm.He said they were on there way. I asked for a time frame and he kept saying on there way I have no idea. For someone works for such a great company and organization should not be treating customers that way. He needs to be fired or document for his behavior. I am in the customer service industry and would never speak to a guest the way that he had spoken to me. I asked for the managers name who is Dan. I told him that I would call back because I had to inform the person who was waiting that they were "on there way" He argued with me and wanted me to speak with him then and I explained I couldn't as I was at work as well. He then hug the phone up on me. I had called back and Alan had picked up the phone again and as I had asked for Dan he said in a rude sarcastic way one moment and sure you can. Dan was unavailable so I spoke with John the Assistant manager and he was very apologetic for Alan's rude and unprofessional manners. I have no problem donating good items because I know they go to good places but I would never want that kind of person working for me. It not a good name to your company. read more
